I've been trying to come up with new ideas for chapters after hitting a creative block for the longest time with this story. If you have any ideas for future chapters I would really appreciate it.
I thought Chibiusa visiting from the future should be included and seeing Usagi finally resemble her older self somewhat. lots of fluffiness ensues.
Usagi pottered about her apartment quietly, making sure she had everything she needed. She had been so busy with her classes lately, staying up late hours to study for her tests to get better grades. Though it did leave her exhausted and not like in middle school when she stayed up late hours due to reading manga. Thankfully her friends were understanding, struggling themselves in their college classes, figuring out their future careers. It had brought them closer than ever, praising Usagi for her personal growth and responsibility. She remembered the days when she was still getting used to being a sailor scout, being told of her true identity and her past life as a princess of the moon kingdom. So much time had passed since then, growing as a person and learning how to use her powers. Though she was still prone to mistakes from time to time. But she took them as lessons to learn from instead of complaining about them all the time like she used to.
She still had no idea where life would take her, the only glimpse she saw in the future was her becoming queen and ruling crystal tokyo. The time in between was unknown and to her that was scary, she had no spoilers of where the road to becoming ruler would lead. But she trusted her instinct and always followed her heart, doing what was best for everyone. Sometimes she wished she could ask Pluto for spoilers as to what expect, but she knew she would never tell her. It did get frustrating that she had no idea of what kinds of things she would experience before becoming queen. But it was sometimes fun not knowing too.
Recently she had been sent a message from her future self. Chibiusa was visiting her from the future, coming to her apartment after finishing school. Her future self giving approval for her daughter to come to the past and stay with her for a while. She had made sure to be prepared for her arrival, wanting to make sure everything was perfect. Having bought two souffle cheesecakes from a nearby bakery, getting her teapot out for the tea. Much like herself, Chibiusa had inherited her sweet tooth, something she now looked back on as funny. One of the many traits she had inherited from her mother.
There was an agreement that Chibiusa would learn how to grow as a sailor scout and princess from her past self. Neo Queen Serenity not always able to teach her daughter these lessons due to other responsibilities. Though Usagi was in the dark about what to expect, she had learned a lot in the past Tokyo, allowing her child to grow from what she learned in her time. Realizing her future self was smarter than she realised, pleased to know what to expect of herself when she one day became queen and a mother.
Usagi reflected on her presentation, placing her hands on her hips as she admired her hard work. Making sure nothing had been left out, having paid for the present with the money from her part-time job. She had called Mamoru the previous day, organising him to video call when Chibiusa arrived so they could talk as a family. He was still in America studying, but they still contacted each other constantly, via phone calls, letters and all the usual. Though being apart was difficult for them both they made it work. Both arranging to visit one another when they had time, though having to part was still hard for them both.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the front door, causing her to perk up with excitement. She was finally here, she could feel herself shaking with joy. It felt like forever since she had seen her child. A fond smile appearing in the corner of her lips. "Hai" she called loudly. She patted herself down in a last minute attempt to make herself presentable. Trying to control her excitement at this visit, how she used to act back when she and Mamoru first started dating. She approached the front door, opening it to find Chibiusa beaming at her happily. "MAMA!" Chibiusa cried in delight, throwing herself into the waiting arms of her mother. Usagi knelt down to embrace her child lovingly.
"Okaerinasai Chibiusa" she whispered happily. Kissing Chibiusa's head fondly, holding her close to her bosom. Wanting to enjoy this moment, never thinking she could miss her this much. Her future child. She had grown so much, having gotten taller since she last met her, showing she was now starting to age as a moon being. She couldn't wait to see what kind of woman Chibiusa would become as she got older. She then pulled away to smile at her daughter, brushing her hair from her face affectionately. "I have a present for you" she teased, stroking her hair fondly with her fingers.
Chibiusa sat beside Usagi at her tea-table, making sure to rest on her knees as her mother had taught her. Trying to sit like a lady, appearing presentable. Her eyes filled with silent delight as she enjoyed the surprise cake Usagi had bought especially for her visit. A bright smile forming on her face as she delicious flavours of cake hit her tongue. She wasn't often allowed to eat treats back home, her mother pressing of how it wasn't healthy to eat large amounts of sugar. But she was glad her mother from the past was more lenient and went against her rules. Allowing her to make the most of her training period as a sailor scout before she had to return to being a royal in the future.
As much as she loved her mother for the strong, patient and devoted ruler that she was, the wellbeing of her people always on her mind. She never backed down from an enemy and her protection of the silver crystal. She earned the respect of her people and the sailor scouts, putting aside selfish desires for the better good. Sometimes, she felt like she would never be able to live up to her mother's expectations or the lineage she had formed over the centuries. But Usagi, her younger self gave her confidence, helped her grow stronger at her own pace and truly learn about what she was capable of.
Usagi sighed, reaching across with her napkin to wipe Chibiusa's face patiently. "Don't spill it Chibiusa, I have to clean all this up later" she scolded firmly. She knew Chibiusa was a child but she had so much to learn if she was going to rule someday. She wanted her daughter to be a polite girl, she was going to be the future queen after her own reign. But she was still so young, many experiences she was yet to face. There were so many things she was yet to understand, wishing she could ask her future self of what to do.
Chibiusa blinked as Usagi wiped her face, remembering her mother doing the same at dinner back in crystal Tokyo. Though Usagi was not aware of it yet, she was slowly becoming more of her future self every day. She then smirked, feeling a laugh forming in her throat, covering her mouth as giggles escaped her lips. The mother she admired so much, she felt like she was going back in time to see the same woman sometimes. Like she had never left home at all. Usagi really had grown up since they had first met. The same girl who used to sulk, get jealous, pick arguments with her and shirked off doing her homework. Was now becoming a hardworking, independant and optimistic adult, overcoming every hardship that was thrown her way. The old Usagi would have cried endlessly and begged Mamoru not to go to America, yet here shew as at aged 20 in a long distance relationship and living on her own. She really hoped she found a love like the one her parents shared, that she found her own loyal scouts to help protect her in the future. That she created the same kind of loyalty from others when she was a grown up. Not wanting to live in her mother's shadow for the rest of her life.
Usagi blinked curiously, wondering what was so funny. She had moved past the immaturity of her past self, trying to set a good example for her daughter. She was going to be a mother someday. "Chibiusa?" she asked in confusion. She really hoped that Chibiusa wasn't going to prank her or tease her about something. Aware that Chibiusa could be as cheeky as she had been back in her younger years. Hoping that her daughter respected her in some way, she was trying to be a better role model at least.
Chibiusa wiped her eyes, gazing at her mother fondly. "You finally sound like an adult Usagi" she teased. She couldn't help but laugh, she would have never guessed she was the same person. If someone had told her in the past that Usagi would become the woman in front of her now, she would have laughed and said that person was crazy. That there was no way Usagi was capable of acting in such a manner. But life was funny like that, forever changing.
Usagi pouted, so in the past, she was teased for not being mature enough. But when she finally started to act like an adult she was still made fun for it? She pouted sulkily, reaching across to pinch her daughters nose. "I had better, so show some manners to your future mama" she warned, but there was no bitterness in her tone. Instead there was a look of love. Glad her daughter was able to notice her personal growth.
