(Percy; so let me get this straight. After losing our moms, you give us future girlfriends?
DarkWielder: ummmm, yea.
Zari: I love this guy.
DarkWielder; don't say that yet. I'm gonna be putting both of your love lives through the ringer.
Zari: what's the worst you could do?
DarkWielder: hehehehehe. Don't worry, you'll find out soon enough
Percy: *facepalms* you and your big mouth
Disclaimer- Percy: DarkWielder owns nothing but his OCs. Master Rick owns everything else.)
Dream:
Thalia was waiting for me, sitting on a tree. She smiled, "Heard what you did in the girls bathroom. Nice to hear that Clarisse girl knocked down a few pegs."
"Well me and Percy literally have no idea what we're even doing," I said, embarrassed at the compliment. This makes the second time a good looking girl is talking to me.
"Soooo, what's you're name?" said Thalia.
"My n-name?"
She hopped off the branch she was sitting on and landed in front of me, "Yea. Can't just call Lochead. Also what happened to your hair?"
"My name Zarion Frost. Me and my brother somehow got claimed by two Naiads. She cocked her head, "What do you mean by 'claim'?"
"You're gonna laugh at this. Ok so somehow someway, these two naiads want me and my brother to be their boyfriends when we're older, like 15. Even though we're ugly"
Her eyes narrowed, "Why?"
"Me and Percy cleaned out some of their friends before, so I guess that makes us Boyfriend material. I think," I said.
"What if you fall for other people?" she said. "They will have to know how to share," I said.
We talked more and I found out she's the reason for the barrier. She, Luke, Annabeth, and Grover were on the run to camp from monsters Hades had sent when she sacrificed herself to save her friends. Her dad turn her into a tree that protects camp with a magical barrier out of pity.
"Looks like you're about to wake up. Bye Zari"
Over the next few days, me and Percy settle in quite nicely. Our teachers may have been nature spirits and a centaur, but we made progress.
Annabeth taught us Ancient Greek every morning. We understood it better than English.
We were trying to find things we were good at through rotating instructors.
Chiron tried teaching us archery, but he ended up with arrows in his tail. He wasn't even mad, which surprised Percy.
Percy was great at swimming and canoeing, but I was below average at it.
We weren't naturally as strong as the Ares kids, or as gifted with our hands like the Hephaestus kids, or great fashion sense like the Aphrodite kids, or, thank the gods, Dionysus's way with vines. We were decent cooks, though. I was musically and artistically gifted and Percy was a marine biology nerd, which we kept both these discoveries to ourselves.
I still don't understand how I turn Green of Purple. I can't do them on command either.
Even though we sucked at what we really needed if we want to survive in the mortal world, it was still fun cause of Cassie and Helen. We spent time with them everyday. I hung out with Thalia in my dreams sometimes.
Rumors of us being claimed had spread everywhere and, like Percy and me, no one could understand it.
We still haven't been claimed and it was getting on my nerves and others. People keep complaining that I move and hit them while I sleep.
Percy, I can understand, but my dad has done somethings, so I know he knows I exist, which means he should claim me. He's practically talked to both of us twice. I'd always ask Luke if they was anything We could do to make our parents notice us, but he reminded me some parents just don't care. His dad was Hermes, and it was clear he didn't like him.
Me and Percy had our first sword fight lesson after 3 days of being at Camp Half-Blood. Luke was the teacher. A great one too. First we slashed and stabbed at straw stuffed dummies, getting some of the basics down.
The problem was there wasn't any swords that get right to us. Too light, too heavy, or too long. Luke tried his best, but couldn't find the right ones for us.
It was time to pair up and Luke decided that me and Percy would take turns sparring with him since we were first-timers. That and because everyone else was taken.
"I hope your girlfriends are good at caring you guys. Luke is the best swordsman in the last 300 years," said a camper.
Great. Just fabulous. "Maybe he'll go easy on us." said Percy. The camper snickered.
It may be sparring. And he was just teaching us. But I still HATE losing.
Luke taught me through sword-smacking me and pointing out my mistakes, "Don't lose focus" smack "Keep your guard up" smack "Stop swinging so hard" smack
When he was done schooling me, it was Percy's turn.
Luke told me to go get some water, so I walked off, covered in sweat, and chugged a bottle of water.
"Why do I suck?!" I muttered out of frustration. I turned towards the people sparring just as something hit my glasses. I couldn't see who or what it was cause they broke and feel to the ground.
I growled out of frustration, "Great. Now I'm practically blind."
When Luke called for a break, Percy stopped when he saw my glasses and said, "Hephaestus cabin can fix them"
He picked up what hit me and said, "Oh, it's an arrow. Strange, I thought we were the only ones terrible at archery."
I just surprised that no one saw what happened.
He poured water over himself. I did the same.
"Ok everyone, time for a demo. Circle up. If Percy and Zari don't mind, I want to demonstrate a disarming technique"
Yay! We get to embarrass ourselves more than we already have!
The technique was how to twist the enemy's blade with the flat of your own sword so that he had no choice but to drop his weapon.
He did it in slow motion on me and sure enough, my sword was forced out my hand.
"I've had this used on me multiple times. It's very difficult so it could take some years to master," said Luke. "Now I will spar with Zari and Percy. We'll keep going until one of us pulls it off."
I was up first. "Why did you take off you glasses?" asked Luke.
"They kept slipping off my face. I can still see," I said. He raised an eyebrow, "Okay, if you say so.
I facepalmed mentally. His dad is the God of Trickery and Lies. He can tell when people are lying.
We got started. And I can now say I have never been more confused in my life than I am now. Luke was faster than earlier. But SOMEHOW SOMEWAY, I blocked all of his strikes while somehow managing to keep him from locking on to my hilt. I felt weird, like I sense where he was coming from.
I was slower, but my body was moving before him, like it knew what he was going to do.
I was getting tired though, so out of desperation, I focused on all my speed and tried the disarming technique.
My blade hit the base of Luke's and I twisted, putting my whole weight into a downward thrust.
It clattered to the ground with a clang.
The tip of my blade was an inch from his undefended chest.
Everyone else was silent.
"You've been teaching all day and it's hot outside, so you not at full battery. Thats all," I said, humbling my lucky win. He's been here for 5 years, but I've been here for 3 days.
I stared at my hands, still not getting how I won.
"Give yourself some more credit, dude. I want you and Percy to come at me together after Percy's turn," said Luke, smiling.
Strangely, Percy also won. "Sorry?" he said. "There's nothing to be sorry about. Come on, both of you come at me together," said Luke.
He schooled the both of us. We only lasted 15 seconds.
"You're both really tired, but I wonder what you guys could do with the right swords..." said Luke.
We were the last ones to leave cause we were the most tired. As we were walking out of the arena, a crow landed in front of us. It had some in it's mouth. A pair of glasses. It looked at me.
"Must have been sent by your dad," muttered Percy. I couldn't blame him. My dad keeps sending all this stuff but won't claim me. Percy's dad's hasn't done anything.
I took the glasses, which seemed to have a note attached to it.
Boy,
Unfortunately, I can't claim you. If I did, all your friends and family would be slaughtered in order to get to you. I am truly sorry. But you will not have to stay in Hermes cabin. You go with Percy when he is claimed. I already discussed it with his father, who is conflicted on whether to claim Percy cause of some "issues". That doesn't mean he doesn't care. He just has a lot on his plate right now.
Sincerely,
"Your Pops" (I think that's how you say it)
P. S those rings I gave you guys, use them when you need too. You'll know how to and when.
After that, we tried the climbing wall, but got burned. Our clothes were charred and had holes in them, but Grover climbs it like a pro. Cassandra and Helen laid our heads on their laps while we rested by the river next to Grover. Me and Percy were fiddling with our knives, kind of pissed off.
"Ario, what's wrong?" asked a concerned Cassandra. I handed her the note and said nothing.
"Oh. That is bad," said Cassandra after handing the note to Helen. She was playing with my hair. Her eyes flashed reddish-orange when she smiled down sadly at me. I narrowed my eyes, but didn't say anything. Yet.
"Well. No offense to Percy, but its clear he cares. I mean, demigods at camp get only one gift from their godly parent their whole lives, if they actually get one," said Helen. She looked down at Percy, "I mean this in the nicest way possible, but I think it's a good thing you haven't been claimed yet. I think you'll be in some kind of trouble if he does."
Percy looked at his ring and touch his headphones, "I know. I just wish he would put in more effort."
We discussed more things that came into the conversation, like story of Thalia, the Underworld, Grover's miserable situation, or the oath of the Big Three, until it was time for dinner.
But before dinner sounded, I asked about her eyes, "Hey, do your eyes change color? They were scarlet for a seconds earlier"
She froze with a scared look on her face. Helen pursed her lips.
"I'm fine not knowing. Just curious," I said, after placing a comforting hand up on her face. "It's ok, Cass. I actually thing they look cool. Like a burning candle that brings light to the lost. Or the hearth in the middle of the courtyard. Or a chimney in the winter."
She twirled a strand of her hair.
"No way! I wanna—owowowow! Ok ok ok! OOWWW! Never mind! Please let go of my ears, Ellie!" Whined Percy. Helen had cut him off by squeezing his ears, "Why?! So you can get lost in her eyes?!"
"Wait, Helen, are you jealous?" chided Cassandra. Grover was snickering, "Forget cable, this is all the entertainment I need."
"Maybe", She stopped on the squeezing, causing a groaning Percy to try and get up while rubbing his ears and whining, "Me like shiny and glowy things. So does Zari. What's wrong with that?"
Helen pulled him right back down, "Nothing, just don't be so hasty to look into another girls eyes."
"But you can make you eyes glow too, just from a completely different reason, so don't be so jealous," said Cassandra.
Percy and Me looked up at her, "Really? Show me, please. I wanna see!" said Percy. He sounded like a child begging his mom for some candy.
I looked at Cassandra, who raised an eyebrow at me. "I would also like to see. Respectfully of course," I said carefully. Cassandra nodded in approval.
They both closed their eyes and when they opened them, Cassandra's was a soft scarlet color, with moving specks of orange, red, and yellow.
Helens were a striking earth green, with moving specks of gold and purple. They glowed with a strong, but gentle pulse of power.
"Woah," said a mesmerized Grover. Immediately, me and Percy covered their eyes, "Aye, Aye, Aye! Eyes off, G-man! Mines!" said a territorial Percy. "Yea, my personal light show. Go find your own!" I hissed.
Grover was full on laughing now, "I already have a girlfriend, so chill out."
"Yea that's right, G-man. Don't make us tell Juniper," said Helen. At this, Grove immediately stopped laughing and paled, "Now lets not put me is a casket, ok?"
"G-man, you have a girlfriend?" said Percy. "Yep" said Grover.
"Wait a damn minute. Me and Percy have practically been losers with NO game at all and you, the guy with a 'muscular disease' in his legs, had one this entire time?"
Grover nodded. "When? Wher—" I started.
The dinner horn had sounded, cutting me off.
After dinner, it was time for Capture The Flag. Luke explained to us that Athena and Ares mostly always lead the teams. Hermes and Apollo, the two biggest cabin, are allied with Athena, temporarily. Ares is allied with everyone else. Privileges and chores were traded in for support..
"You guys are gonna help us win" said a mischievous Luke. Me and Percy looked at each other and just shrugged.
Chiron stamped his hoof on the marble to get everyone's attention, proceeding to explain the rules. So apparently, the entire forest is fair game and the creek is the boundary line. The flags can only have 2 guards and must be displayed prominently. All magic items are allowed. Prisoners can be disarmed, but not bound or gagged. No maiming or killing is allowed. The referee and battle medic will be Chiron.
He said "Arm yourselves", then spread his hands. The tables were immediately filled with weapons, armor, and shields.
Me and Percy's eyes widened, "Yes, you're actually gonna be using these things. Unless you guys want Cabin 5 to skewer you. You guys will be on border patrol."
He handed us our shields, which were the sizes of NBA backboards with a big caduceus, the symbol of Hermes, in the middle. Our helmet plumes were blue like the rest of our team, which Ares and their team was red
"BLUE TEAM, FORWARD," yelled Annabeth. Our team followed her down to the south woods, cheering.
We tried to ask Annabeth what the game plan was, but she told us to stick with our job that Luke gave us, "Stand by the creek and keep the reds away."
She stationed us next to a little creek, then her the rest of the team scattered. It was alright, I guess. It was nighttime, and also warm and dewy, so there were fireflies out to keep us kind of entertained. But our equipment was aw
The conch horn blew, starting the game. Suddenly sounds of fighting started. I envied them. They get to have all the fun.
Suddenly, my mind was on high alert. There was something stalking us that emitted a low canine growl. It retreated when Me and Percy raised our shields.
Suddenly, something hit my leg and there was a explosion of painful tingling all over my body. I screamed and fell to my knees. There was a burning smell in the air.
"Dude, what's wrong?" said Percy. Before I could respond, 5 Ares warriors came running at us from the other side of the creak, yelling and screaming.
"Get them!" Yelled Clarisse. Oh great, not her. She picked up something the sparked with a red light, while her sibling went for Percy. A spear. That could electrocute people. That's what hit me. Their red plumed be light by the fireflies around.
They surrounded us. Clarisse hit Percy's shield with her spear, which cause his arm to fall numb. One of her siblings kicked me in my arm, laughing, "That's what you get for disrespecting us."
I couldn't get up for some reason.
They battered and bruised us. "The flag is that way," I choked out. Someone hoisted me up by my hair, "So? You guys need to be taught your place"
"Yea, no one makes us look stupid"
My head was screaming in pain, "You guys don't need our help to do that,"
"Yea, you guys do that just fine on your own,"
said Percy, groaning. Probably wasn't the best choice of words, but It's a gift and a curse.
Percy screamed in pain, saying, "No maiming"
"Oh well, no desert for me, I guess"
Someone knocked my helmet off, my glasses coming off with it, and Percy was slammed into the Creek.
"Give him a haircut," said Clarisse, her choice pointed at me. I froze. My hair is one of my most prized possessions. It could take months to get it to grow back to the way I wanted.
"Touch my hair, And I will Kill you," I said, no longer in any pain. Clarisse was sent flying into a tree. I looked and saw Percy standing up in the creek with no problems.
My vision changed to grey for a second, and All their weapons went flying away. I jumped at Ugly 2, kneeing them in the face, then used Ugly 3's faces as a spring board to land next to Percy in the creek. My victims were in the ground, unconscious.
I felt a little rejuvenated, even though I couldn't see very well. My vision went green, and I punched Ugly 4 in the stomach, who flew into a tree, now on the ground unconscious. Percy dodged Ugly 5's punches, then broke his elbow and knee. He screamed out in pain.
My vision was terrible, but there was someone else here.
Suddenly there was elated screams. Luke was one the run with the banner, a red flag with a boar on it, flanked by Hermes and Apollo kids to cover him.
He ran over to our territory, causing a explosion of cheers. Chiron came and blew the conch horn when The flag changed to silver with a caduceus symbol on it.
Luke was held up on peoples shoulders as they cheered.
"How did you guys do that? And why are you green?" Said Annabeth. We turned to her, but she wasn't there. The air shimmered, she materialized, holding a Yankees cap. I was angry, so I didn't care how I sounded, "Next time you do something like that, I will throttle you!"
"You set us up," said Percy. "You knew Clarisse would come after us, so you places us here, then sent Luke after the flag!"
She smirked, "Athena always has a Plan."
"Your place nearly costed me my hair!" I growled. She said, "I was about to come help you guys, but you seemed to be taking care of it," gesturing towards the unconscious bodies.
"How did you do that, Though?" Asked Annabeth, pointing at Percy's arm.
"You're a genius, remember? It's obviously a sword cut" muttered Percy. She rolled her eyes, "Look at it, you idiot."
I looked at Percy arms, and instead of a bleeding cut, there was a long white scrat chu that was stilling fading even now. We watched as turned into a small scar, then disappear.
"Oh," said Percy dumbly. I'm just as confused as him. She looked down at both of us, Clarisse's broken spear at Percy's feet.
"Step out the water Percy" said a inquisitive Annabeth. "Why?" asked Percy.
"Just do it," she snarled. He stepped out quickly. But we had to catch him cause he nearly fell over. She was paled, "This is bad, I had thought it was be Zeus, but—!!"
A canine growl interrupted her. The cheering immediately stopped, replaced by cursing. Chiron shouted something in Ancient Greek.
It was a black hound the size of a rhino with lace red eyes and dagger like fangs. It was looking right at me and Percy.
"Guys, run," said Annabeth, as it jumped at us. Instead of running, Percy jumped at it, catching it in midair and slamming it to the ground. I jumped after him, summoning Firestorm, and landing on the monster while stabbing it as Percy held it down. Percy had big cuts all over his arms.
It turned to dust. Me and Percy were breathing hard, exhausted and hurt. No said anything for a moment.
Annabeth cursed in Ancient Greek, then said, "Those are hellhounds from the Fields of Punishment! They should even—"
"Unless someone summoned it. Some one in camp," said Chiron. Someone was pushing through the crowd, "Excuse me, coming through."
It was Cassandra and Helen, who freaked when the saw our condition.
I said, "Its not as bad as it looks"
Before they could flip out, Annabeth said, "Chiron, watch this," she looked at Percy, "Percy, get in the water."
"Why? I'm fi—!"
"Get in the fucking water, Percy!" Interrupted Helen. He paled and said "Yes Ma'am"
A bunch of people snickered while gathering around us. I helped Percy to the water, and watched as all the cuts on his body close up. He looked more energized.
There was a sudden smell of ozone.
Suddenly something wrapped around my leg. I was too tired to kick it off, something strange happened
"Something snake-like is touching my leg" I said, as all my wounds healed and closed up. Whatever wrapped around my leg swam away.
But no one was really paying attention to me. The were looking above Percy's head, gapsing and whispering.
"I don't know why this is happening," said Percy, "I'm… I'm sorry,"
Annabeth point above Percy's head, "Um, Percy…."
It was already fading when we looked up, but we caught the sight of a spinning green hologram, a three tipped spear: a trident.
Annabeth was muttering some I couldn't make out.
Everyone kneeled, except Chiron, "All hail Perseus Achilles Jackson, son of Poseidon, The Sea God, The Stormbringer, the Earthshaker, Father of Equestrians"
The light faded, but exploded into a blinding green light. It faded, a necklace in its place. It was a trident amulet that a key at the end. It float over to me and placed itself on my neck.
"I think that's Lord Poseidon giving Zarion permission to bunk with Percy," said Helen. Everyone was whispering.
"I guess that makes sense. They do practically everything together"
"But still! Why is one of the Big Three looking after a kid that isn't even theirs?"
"Yea, they rarely take care of their own"
"Didn't anyone else see something glowing in the water?"
It was then the time that me and Percy blacked out, our bodies collapsing.
