Authors Note: Hi all, I just was wanting to say thanks for all the support, I never really anticipated this story going anywhere when I was starting it, but it just clocked past 10,000 views! I hope I can keep doing good for you all, the story is a little past the halfway point now, thank you so much again.
Lynn felt her eyelids starting to flutter open, her head felt a lot clearer, the first thing she saw as she began to reawaken however was the bottom of another bed, the brunette realized she was not in her room pretty fast, the sports loving Loud sat up in a panic realizing she was in Luan's bed.
"No no no no, don't tell me something happened again!" Lynn began to hyperventilate; terrified that the obsessed personality had returned and had gone after yet another family member, her confusion only became paramount when realizing she was once again in a beautiful dress and her hair was not tied into a ponytail.
"Hey, chill out dude, nothing happened." Luna's voice caught the pregnant girl's attention, Lynn tilted her head slowly and saw her rock loving sister standing there with two cups of coffee, Luna had just gotten them and had been planning on waking up her sister when she got back, the aspiring rock star offering one to her little sister, the sports loving Loud reaching a hand up and taking it, she found herself beginning to relax in Luna's presence.
"Miss Lynn woke up instead of you and made everyone breakfast." Luna explained to Lynn while taking a seat in front of the bed, wanting to enjoy her own cup of coffee. The athletic Loud could see the time was a little past 8, she took a sip from the mug while trying to gather herself, Lynn was calming down quickly when hearing that Miss Lynn had been the one to take control, she might not trust the maternal split personality, but she doubted it was malicious.
"Why am I in Luan's bed though?" Lynn asked with a quirked brow, she felt far better than she did last night, that was for certain.
"Miss wanted to talk to me, afterwards she said you needed to sleep in a little while longer, so I let her just use Luan's bed." Luna responded, Miss Lynn's words were still fresh in her mind, that whole conversation had been rather overwhelming to the guitarist, she had spent the extra time that Lynn had been sleeping trying to absorb all the information she had been given.
"What did she want with you?" Lynn worriedly queried after chugging down the coffee in a few glugs basically, not even caring how hot it was. The sports loving girl was now becoming increasingly scared again, Luna was like the second mother to a lot of the family, Lynn hoped the maternal split personality was not trying to become the only paternal figure to the younger half of the family, that was a possibility the aspiring sports star had not considered until now.
"She told me about what's been going on, and I mean, well, everything." Luna held her head, hearing that made Lynn freeze in spot, her blood ran cold.
"E-Everything?" Lynn parroted as a cold sweat began to break out across her forehead, she saw Luna rest the coffee cup on the nearby nightstand, before she hoisted herself onto the bed to take a seat beside her sister.
"Everything. About all 4 of the voices, about all that's happened, about what they've done." Luna clarified, looking to her sister with an uncertain expression on her face, Lynn could feel her heartrate beginning to rise, trying to fathom why Miss Lynn had told the 3rd oldest Loud about it all, including what had happened with Lincoln.
There was a deafening silence in the room, Lynn could not read Luna's face, she was panicking and feeling rather trapped right now, the sporty Loud found herself gripping her hand when it began to tremble from the stress.
"It wanted me to help you, it begged me to... I told it I would." The older Loud stated, sounding like she was exasperated with all the news she had been informed of. "I'm not gonna lie Lynn, when it told me what happened to Lincoln..." Luna bit her lip, that unreadable expression became clear very fast to the sporty Loud, she swore she could see that fire brewing in her older sister's eyes.
"I wanted to strangle you." Luna growled under her breath, the only thing that had stopped the rock loving girl from attacking Miss Lynn, was the fact that it wasn't Lynn herself, knowing two of her siblings had basically been turned into sex toys by the obsessed split personality did little to help Luna's rage, she had spent the time Lynn was asleep thinking, pondering, considering, trying to decide on what to do.
"But it wouldn't have changed anything." Luna sighed dejectedly; she hated this whole situation; she knew if the truth got out it would tear some aspect of their family to ribbons, no matter what any of them did, it would make Lynn a mortal enemy to some and result in a massive 'choose a side' event, a scenario that the many Loud siblings dreaded.
"S-So what are you going to do?" Lynn stuttered, in her honest personal view she would understand getting pummeled by her family, the sporty Loud felt like she deserved it.
"I'm going to try and support you and Lincoln." Luna declared before getting up from the bed, while she sounded confident and steadfast in her statement, her voice held a hint of uncertainty.
"But why? Lincoln should be the one you focus on helping." Lynn attempted to inquire, she wanted to say she did not deserve the support whatsoever, the pregnant teen hated herself for what she did and she could tell Luna was mad at her just as much for it, the guitarist stood there with her arms behind her head.
"Because I love you both, and I think we can work through this." Luna answered, even if it was painfully obvious it had taken a lot of inner debating to reach that decision, one fact the guitarist left out however was how she herself could not imagine the relationship between the sports lover and Lincoln being shattered forever due to something out of their control, the rock lover could only hope that Lynn could find a way to mend things to some degree, though Luna had a feeling the unborn child most likely was going to complicate that effort far more.
"Why don't you go get changed? I'm sure you got a lot planned for today." Luna said, the two being done with their conversation as far as she was concerned, Lynn nodded, standing up and beginning to leave the room. "Oh, and congrats on the baby dude." She added, it made the sports loving Loud gain a crimson to her cheeks, feeling embarrassed at the congratulations, to Lynn that was the most positive tone she had heard from her older sister since she first woke up, it seemed like Luna was stoked at the idea of becoming an aunt, even if she was not a fan of the circumstances.
"Thanks Luna, for everything." Lynn lately replied while she cast a weak smile over her shoulder, stepping out of the room and beginning to return to her own to get changed into clothes she actually liked, the brunette would have destroyed the dresses by now, but she had a feeling that would only cause the maternal split personality to buy more, the 5th oldest Loud tried not to think about it as she headed to her room to get changed.
After fixing her hair and getting changed into a blank white shirt and some jeans, Lynn found herself not in the mood to really eat currently, the 5th oldest Loud's mind might be clearer, but she still was in an uncertain position, Luna was wrong with the assumption that the pregnant girl had anything planned today, all of her plans were pretty thoroughly destroyed, any desire or ideas she had were in shambles equally as well.
"I need to go see Chandler." Lynn thought to herself, she wanted to see how the party king was doing with her own two eyes, those visions of that night her aggressive split personality assaulted him still were engraved in the front of her mind, she held her head, swearing she could still hear Chandler's screams of agony before they were silenced from the sweet embrace of unconsciousness. The sports loving girl made her way to the garage, wanting to get her bicycle so she could leave, though she found herself being stopped when someone called out to her.
"Hey, Lynn!" Luan chirped, sliding down the rail to get downstairs quicker, a bright smile on the comedian's face. "Thanks for breakfast today, it was amazing!" The 4th oldest Loud sister expressed her gratitude for that great breakfast, Miss Lynn had pulled out all the stops with the cooking, compared to Lynn Senior making the same thing day after day, a lot of the family loved this breakfast especially.
"You're welcome, I guess." Lynn shrugged; now the sporty Loud was wondering if she knew more about cooking than she first thought, Miss Lynn did not get that knowledge of cooking from thin air after all, unless there was some long-abandoned cookbook in the cabinets somewhere.
"I have a standup act at 2, do you want a free pass to it?" Luan offered while following her sporty sister to the garage, Lynn found herself pausing at the door, her hand resting on the frame.
"First Lori, now Luan, our parents really are not subtle." The depressed split personality sighed, Luan and Lynn had a tolerance relationship at best, the pregnant girl hated her pranks, her jokes, she rarely laughed at any of them, and that was not even taking into account all the April fool's day nightmares the family had to deal with every year since Luan tended to get too into them. Lynn did not hate her comedic sibling, she just did not like her, in some ways Luan was a lot more dangerous than her.
"How much did Mom and Dad offer you to babysit me?" Lynn came straight out and said it, now in full agreement with the depressed personality in the belief that Rita and Lynn Senior were trying to set Lynn up to spend more time with her sisters so she would not be alone, as a subtle way to keep an eye on her.
"Nothing, this is just me trying to brighten your mood and take your 'minds' off of things." Luan punned with an innocent smile, the sporty Loud let out an exhausted breath, she had not even been awake an hour and already she wanted to go back to bed.
"No thanks." Lynn flatly declined while continuing into the garage, only to be followed by Luan, the garage door was already open as Lana could be seen laying on a borrowed skateboard and using it so she could work under Vanzilla. The mechanically inclined twin hearing her two older sisters stepping into the garage, she tried to focus on repairing the van, not able to help but overhear the two as they talked.
"Aw come on Lynn! I swear on Mister Coconuts, no one put me up to this." Luan insisted, she knew the two of them did not have a good relationship, but the comedian had to wonder if it was worse than she was aware. The last prank she had pulled on Lynn was pretty harmless, the comedic Loud had hidden some spring-loaded snakes under her pillow, the pregnant Loud did not fall for it, though Luan was unaware of that fact.
"I really just don't want to spend time with you, you know I don't really like your standup acts." Lynn tried to be nice in her reply, the sports fanatic just grabbing her bike from the nearby wall and hopping onto it, only for Luan to get in front of her.
"Just give me a chance! Besides I've been getting more hecklers lately, I'd feel safer knowing someone I knew was there. I wanted to invite Lincoln, but he won't answer his phone." Luan tried to plead in convincing Lynn to come to her comedy routine, Luan knew Benny couldn't make it since he had to work today, Maggie was busy with her own family problems, and Lincoln was seemingly busy as well.
Lynn became worried when hearing about their only brother ignoring phone calls from other family members, though when the sports loving girl thought about it, she imagined he was just busy with Leni or one of his friends.
"Well, you tried being nice, time to slowly crank it up until the idiot learns." Lynn-Sanity advised, the worst part to Lynn herself, was the fact she was in agreement with gradually giving up on the being polite ask.
"I don't care, I really have to go, I need to visit my friend in the hospital, I'm not going to deal with a comedy show that I don't even care about." Lynn retorted while giving a nasty glare to her older sister, as if daring her to try and be any more of a nuisance than she already was, it was clear that the comedian was not going to move, the sports lover sighed while getting off of her bike.
Lana laid low while she was busy draining the oil from Vanzilla, she had not cared much about the conversation given it sounded like nothing important. "I'm just worried about you Lynn, I didn't know one of your friends was in the hospital, do you want me to go with you?" Luan offered; she sounded nervous, like the 4th oldest Loud knew she had begun pushing her luck at this point by trying to force her company onto her younger sister like this, failing miserably at hiding her intention of keeping an eye on Lynn while she was out as well.
"You're not going to get out of my way until I agree, are you?" Lynn quirked, honestly it sounded like something Lori would have done when she was younger, whenever a sibling refused to talk or upset the oldest Loud, she would not get out of their way until they gave in and talked about what was bothering them, that behavior stopped after a few of the siblings did similar to her out of revenge.
"If I say yes will that make you agree?" Luan was not used to trying to be so assertive like this, but she was trying her best to be confident currently, Rita and Lynn Senior had requested their comedic daughter to try and bond with Lynn Junior some more, the same way they had asked Lori to do it yesterday, the Loud parents having a hope that it would bring comfort to their 5th child, the two completely unaware that it was beginning to cause the opposite effect. That was when the comedian saw a small grin tugging at the corner of Lynn's mouth, that made her uneasy.
"How about I tell you a joke of my own first?" Lynn offered; hearing that made Luan warm up rather quickly.
"Sure! Hit me with it!"
"What sound does a person make when they're stuffed in a trashcan?"
"I don't know Lynn, what sound does a person make when they're stuffed in a trashcan?"
Lana was focused on draining the oil from Vanzilla, that was when she heard a startled squeak, a loud clunk, followed by a crash. At first, she anticipated another part from the engine was falling out of the old family van, but when nothing happened she became confused. The animal loving twin slid herself out from underneath the vehicle, Lynn and Luan were now nowhere in sight, she heard a grumbling and the sound of metal rattling and clanking around.
"Luan?" Lana went wide-eyed realizing what it was, Luan had been stuffed in the empty trashcan that rested in the corner of the garage, she got tricked by Lynn and basically slam dunked into it. The twin could not resist laughing a little, finding it funny seeing her 4th oldest sister desperately trying to get out, Lynn was long gone by now, of course.
"I think I really hit a nerve... This stinks." Luan groaned out her own pun, guessing she had crossed one line too many with Lynn in her efforts to spend time with her. "Can you help me out?" She asked Lana, the twin was considering just leaving Luan in there, treating it like some karmic retribution for all the pranks she pulled, though the red capped wearing girl doubted she could get away with it, however that did not stop Lana from taking a few pictures with her phone first.
"Alright, grab my hands." Lana stepped on over, grabbing Luan by the wrists and beginning to tug. "Why were you so pushy to Lynn anyway? You know that's a one-way ticket to a beatdown." Lana had to ask, everyone in their family knew that getting Lynn angry while she was upset was a terrible idea, yet Luan did it anyway with nearly no hesitation right there.
"Mom and dad wanted us to spend more time together. I know I can be annoying, but... I didn't realize Lynn hated me that much." Luan had to confess, feeling disheartened at that interaction with her younger sister, while she felt Lana tugging on her limbs in an effort to get her free from the bin, the joker of the family was pretty wedged in there however.
"We all want to help her, but I don't think she likes that help being forced on her." Lana pointed out the obvious fact of the matter that had been the primary cause of Lynn getting upset, their parents meant well yet there was a reason many of the siblings would sooner turn to one another before their mom and dad, that sibling bond of trust they had, Lynn's biggest fear was dragging everyone down with her own problems, it made sense that the sports loving Loud would get furious at those trying to act differently around her so suddenly after the revelation with the split personalities came to light.
"Lynn knows we want to help; she'll just get upset with herself if it seems like we're giving up our lives for her, we can be supportive and that's all we can really do." Lana continued explaining her own personal views on the matter, or rather Lisa's perspective when the twin tried to ask for ideas on how she could help, the mechanically inclined twin was not happy with the situation either, these were the cards they were dealt however.
"... I'll talk to mom and dad about it." Luan sighed, guessing it would be better to let their parents know that Lynn was becoming increasingly infuriated at Rita and Lynn Senior's attempt to make sure she was not left entirely alone anymore, it was more of a safety precaution on their account for the weekends primarily.
"I need to get the bolt cutters to get you free, wait here a sec." Lana went off to get her tool from nearby, needless to say, Luan felt humiliated, like she had fallen victim to one of her own pranks, now the comedian was wondering just how bad her relationship with Lynn truly was, she just hoped Lincoln was doing alright at Leni's.
Lincoln at the moment was helping out in Leni's store, it was a rather jarring shift he had to adjust to, his biggest mistake was the assumption that the most important thing he had to learn was about the business, he could not have been more wrong, it was the people he had to learn how to deal with above all else, the middle Loud sibling was shocked at just how nasty and entitled some of the customers could be, they were all over the place in behavior.
"And stay out you walking plastic surgery case!" Taylor screamed while tossing someone out of the store, the former bully girl glaring down the woman she had just kicked out, the older woman scoffed and simply stood up, dusting her clothes off.
"Fine, this place won't see my business ever again." The woman who obviously was hiding her age behind layers of surgical efforts responded, beginning to take her leave after the aggressive removal.
"Friggin loser..." Taylor grumbled while stepping back inside, Lincoln and her were both dressed in similar attire, simple black suits, while Leni did not have a dress code, for the two of them it felt weird to be working in an expensive clothing store and not be wearing a uniform of some kind, so the 2nd oldest Loud had opted into the idea of the suits.
"Sorry you had to deal with that, Lincoln." Leni apologized to her only brother; the woman had to be kicked out after she threw several of the dresses that were for sale to the floor, only to then basically spit in Lincoln's face after he had asked her nicely to stop, Taylor of course did not even pretend to be nice before tossing the jerk to the curb.
"It's fine, Leni. Thanks for dealing with her, Taylor." Lincoln thanked his former bully, the longer he worked here the more he understood just why Leni needed someone like Taylor in the vicinity.
"Don't mention it." Taylor brushed his thanks off, the girl in the suit was getting to know Lincoln better with each passing day that the two lived under the same roof, she was treating him better due to the fact he was Leni's brother, as far as Taylor cared she should treat the boss's family as good as the boss themselves, the bucktoothed boy was actually pretty nice to her in trade.
"Why don't you two take a break? It's about time for lunch anyway." Leni offered, there was only one or two customers to help at the moment, they seemed like simple indecisive nervous types as well.
"Okay Leni." Lincoln nodded; he was feeling hungry anyway.
"Alright boss." Taylor did not argue, Lincoln was still surprised at how easily the girl with the chestnut-colored hair followed orders, it was surreal to see. The middle Loud sibling began to follow Taylor back upstairs where Leni's home resided, the store itself did not really have a break room, so the two just used the home itself for that more or less.
"Reheated pizza sound good?" Lincoln asked Taylor, seeing her go straight to flopping onto the couch once again like she always did whenever she wanted to relax.
"Sure." Taylor did not really care what there was to eat currently, Leni was not the best cook so the Highschool dropout tended to do most of the cooking, she was not the best at it either, it made the white-haired teenager's presence all the more welcomed after he handled breakfast this morning. Lincoln took the leftover slices of pizza from the refrigerator, going over and putting them into the oven.
"How'd your date go yesterday?" Taylor tried to strike up casual conversation, nothing she liked was on television at this time of the day, Lincoln leaned against the sink while waiting for their food to heat up in the oven, doubting it would take longer than a few minutes.
"It was pretty good." Lincoln clammed up a little when recalling his date with Stella yesterday, it had been great in his personal opinion, they had gone to have dinner then they went to see a movie, after all that the two relaxed in the arcade for a short while before splitting up to head home, though before that Stella had given him a pretty passionate kiss, leaving the Loud boy standing there awestruck as she left.
"Everything about it, was perfect." Lincoln fondly smiled when thinking back to it, he had wanted to spend tonight with Stella on another date too, sadly she was busy helping her mom for most of today. The incident with Lynn was no longer at the forefront of the bucktoothed teenager's mind, he had been able to overcome the constant recollection of that living nightmare with the help of Leni Stella and Taylor, or rather, the distractions they offered him.
"Are you going to skip school tomorrow too?" Taylor asked, she had been told by Leni that Lincoln was here due to familial issues, so the brunette wondered if the teenage boy would avoid going to school entirely just so he would not risk running into his sister there. Being reminded that tomorrow was Monday made Lincoln's bright mood dampen rather quickly, he held his head, trying to think on it, after he took the reheated pizza slices out of the oven, he brought them straight to the living room and took a seat on the couch next to Taylor.
"I won't skip school, I don't want to burden Leni more than I already am." Lincoln claimed, he knew it would make his parents worried as well, the teenage boy had gotten texted this morning saying he had his first therapy appointment Wednesday, he did not respond to it, just accepting it and continuing with his day, the middle Loud boy had been rather weak in his replies to most of his families attempts to contact him actually, mostly because Lincoln was still viewing himself as some kind of monstrous threat to everyone in his household.
"Leni's pretty happy to have you around, don't tell her I said anything, but some nights I hear crying from her room, whenever I peek in all I see is her just staring at that one old photo of your whole family she keeps on her nightstand." Taylor solemnly exclaimed to her technical co-worker, the 2nd oldest Loud sister was extremely lonely, it did not take much to become aware of that, it is what made Leni dive headfirst into her love of fashion, it was an effort to try and fill that giant hole she felt in her life.
"I had a feeling she might be lonely..." Lincoln muttered; every time Leni visited the Loud house, she would show signs of wanting to stay as long as possible, and a depressingly obvious aura of sorrow when it was time to say goodbye, the 2nd oldest Loud had been eager to have her own place to live, the deafening silence made it hard to enjoy, what probably did not help was Leni's rather long track record of failed relationships, she just had poor judgement of character when it came to dating.
"I honestly don't know if I can ever go back home anyway, it might be better if I just stay here." Lincoln confessed his true thoughts, he still blamed himself for what transpired with the obsessed personality, to the point it made him worried he was a similar threat to his other sisters, the young boy picking up his slice of pizza and biting into it. Taylor wanted to make some remark about that, she did not like the idea of him living here, but it wasn't her place to decide on that, she did hope that whatever was going on could be sorted out for him, the former bully did not like seeing Lincoln as miserable as Leni was before he moved in.
"If anyone makes your life hard, you can just come get me." Taylor said casually, while taking another bite of her own food. Hearing that made the middle Loud sibling snap his head towards her direction in surprise, actually it reminded him a lot of Lynn, that tough demeanor that was a good cover for how she truly felt.
"Leni would be upset with herself if you got hurt." The school dropout tried to frame it as her simply caring about keeping Leni happy, or perhaps even trying to make up for her past bullying of the only Loud boy as well.
"If you keep being this nice to me and Leni, I'm going to have to start treating you like my 11th sister." Lincoln gave a toothy grin at his joke, Taylor groaned while face palming, it was hard to be mad at that cute nature of his, the white-haired teen just had this natural ability to soften those he was around the more he got to know them, she just crossed her arms and closed her eyes while laying her head back, trying to pretend to take a nap for the remainder of their break to escape the conversation.
Lincoln stopped teasing Taylor when he heard his cell phone ringing, he took it out of his pocket and looked down, the caller ID reading Lynn's name made his heart skip a beat, he stared at it for a moment as it rang in his hand, the bucktoothed teenager silencing the call and tossing his phone onto the coffee table, as much as Lincoln wanted to answer, he could not bring himself to. The bucktoothed boy just focused on his food, trying to mentally prepare himself for both tomorrow and the other customers he might have to deal with today.
Lynn had just arrived to the hospital, she had been in a far better mood after dunking Luan in a trashcan back at home, it had honestly been something she had wanted to do for the longest time, the brunette at the moment focused on making her way upstairs to the 5th floor of the hospital, having been told by the receptionist where she could find Chandler.
"Maybe we should have brought a present for him?" The maternal split personality considered, Lynn found her pace beginning to come to a halt when she neared the room that held the party loving boy, flashes of that night were appearing in her head again.
"Don't go saying anything stupid in there, otherwise you'll either wind up in a jail cell or a padded room." Lynn-Sanity reminded her, the sporty Loud's head was already hurting, she tried to take in a breath to build up some confidence and calm down, before she stepped into Chandler's hospital room.
"Chandler? You up?" Lynn hesitantly chirped up, that sight in the hospital bed made her blood run cold, his leg was in a cast and his hand had a large amount of bandaging on it, the sporty Loud was relieved to know that Chandler's parents were not there, she guessed they had gone down to the cafeteria to get lunch, she was not going to complain.
"Lynn?" Chandler weakly looked at her, seeing the sporty Loud was a shock to him, he did not anticipate anyone other than his folks coming to visit him, even his supposed best friends. "What're you doing here?" He coughed, Lynn could tell he was not all there mentally, his thoughts were clouded by the painkillers he currently needed to survive the pain.
"Clyde told me what happened, guess that's my fault for leaving the party early." Lynn said while stepping over to his bedside, there was an uncomfortable silence, she sighed. "I'm sorry, this... This feels like it's all my fault." The pregnant girl was trying to apologize for what her aggressive split personality did, not being able to directly confess made that hard to do, but she still wanted to express her sorrow for letting him get hurt when she agreed to protect him, Lynn just didn't consider the biggest threat at the party that night would be herself.
"If you want to make it right, then find the one that ruined my leg and hand." Chandler began, hearing that made Lynn look away in discomfort, at least that would be an easy job to do.
"You think he'd start screaming the second his IV is ripped out, or would it take a few seconds?" Lynn-Sanity asked, wanting to just tear away the painkillers that Chandler currently was taking as a preemptive way of silencing him, Lynn swallowed the lump in her throat and tried to ignore it.
"That's what I want to say, but being real, I got no clue who did this to me, they blinded me so I couldn't see them... And honestly, I've probably had this coming for a long time." The party king of their school confessed, he had spent most of his teenage years throwing parties and taking advantage of people who wanted to be invited to said parties. Chandler had been given a lot of time to think after that recent beatdown, while he hated the painful lesson, he could not deny, it was only a matter of time before someone he took advantage of attacked him.
"I'm sorry..." Lynn could only repeat, her gaze faltering to the floor, the sound of the vitals monitors beeping out became louder in the paramount silence.
"He's never going to be able to walk normally again, his hand is going to take forever to be usable again too." Dismal Lynn's voice panged in the brunette's mind; she held her head with one hand while wincing at the sharp pain.
"It wasn't your fault." Chandler replied, oblivious to the truth of the matter. "To be honest, you did more than I actually thought you would, I owe you one just for that." The party lover said, Lynn let out a weak laugh, unable to believe what she was hearing, being thanked after what she did, she felt disgusted with herself.
"A manipulative whore, we just get better by the day." The depressed split personality sarcastically said sounding purely bitter at this point, Lynn was finding herself to be increasingly in agreement with the self-deprecating voice in her head, each passing day only seemed to make its words truer.
"I really wanna go back to sleep right now, thanks for visiting." Chandler stated, staying awake was an increasingly hard task to do given how many drugs were in his system at this point, the pregnant Loud nodded.
"Sure, I'll see you at school when they let you out." Lynn responded, she needed to leave the room immediately anyway, the guilt was starting to overtake her heart once again, the 5th oldest Loud left the hospital room, closing the door behind her before she began to take her leave.
"We could just go up to the roof, one step and it would handle everything..." The depressed split personality advised, that guilt was weakening Lynn's mental resolve, as if it was not already the most fragile part of her body now.
"What's the point in going home? Everyone there hates us or are being forced to babysit us, we're just dragging our family down with us the longer we try to fight this losing battle." It continued; Lynn felt her breathing becoming coarser as she tried to wait for the elevator, being afraid about taking the steps while her head was killing her.
"Just shut up." Lynn retorted, once the elevator got to her floor she stepped onto it, the elevator was currently empty aside from herself, she wished her own head was though.
"Maybe we should go get something to eat to clear our head?" The maternal split personality offered, sounding sympathetic, yet that motherly tone sounded demoralized at the moment, Lynn could not even feign interest in trying to find out why.
The brunette took out her cell phone, she wanted to try and check on Lincoln, she dialed his number and waited for him to answer. There was no answer however, after enough ringing she only heard the familiar tone of his voicemail chiming up in her ear and telling her to leave a message after it beeped.
"Hey, Linc, I was just calling to check up on you... Look, I need to talk to you about everything, it's really important, and I've got a lot of news, I understand if you don't want to talk to me though, but I've already made a decision on what I'm going to do. I'll say it again, this is all my fault, I'm taking full responsibility for this, I'm sorry... I swear, I'll make things right again, I just hope you can forgive me for what I've decided to do." Lynn tried to express her need to talk to Lincoln to the best of her ability in her message, though her voice was shaky and upset from the mental abuse the depressed split personality had caused her, the stress from imagining Lincoln's reaction to any of this news did not help, she put her phone away after leaving the message for her brother.
Lynn felt the elevator coming to a stop on the ground floor, she hopped off before several people tried to load on at once. The sporty Loud wanted to go home after her trip to the hospital, but she knew it would just be a headache to go back right now, the aspiring sports star fully expecting to be in trouble when she got back due to what she did to Luan, so why not delay the inevitable a little while longer.
"Maybe I should just skip lunch today..." Lynn murmured to herself, not really able to think on what much she could do, she had already made a thorough plan for what she intended to do at school tomorrow, the sports loving Loud did not have an appetite at the moment.
"Why don't we go spend some time with some of our friends then? You need to tell them what you plan to do, it is rude to leave it to the coach to tell them after all." Miss Lynn suggested, thinking spending lunch with her friends and talking about what she intended to do would be a good use of time. "Plus, we have to take our new addition into consideration as well, it won't be long before we're eating for two, remember?" The motherly personality reminded Lynn of their pregnancy.
"Right... this is going to take some getting used to." Lynn rubbed the back of her head, she went and got on her bike, taking out her cell phone. "I guess it can't hurt to invite them to lunch." She shrugged, taking the split personalities suggestion as the best idea at the moment, the brunette wanted to spend some time with her friends after all, Lynn just hoped they would not be mad with her.
After a short time, Lynn now was at a Fastfood place that she frequented a lot over the last few years, Burpin' Burger, usually going there after any winning game with her friends, in a loss they typically would all go their own ways to try and clear their heads. The sports loving Loud was sat at one of the booths, she had been there alone for about 20 minutes, just awaiting her friend's arrival, she mostly spent the time reminiscing to herself, Lynn couldn't help but laugh at herself a little, all of her closest friends had boyfriends, yet she was the first one out of their friend group that was pregnant.
"They're going to quit being our friend the second they find out we aren't going to be-" The depressed split personality was interrupted mid-sentence when Lynn slammed her shin as hard as she could against the table base, wincing in pain as she tried to not let it show, she straightened up in her seat immediately upon seeing the people she had been waiting for stepping through the front doors.
"Hey Lynn, sorry we took a while." A familiar voice caught her attention, Lynn could see two of her close friends coming over from the entrance, Margo Roberts and Paula Price, the two were wearing their baseball uniforms and looked like they had left mid game with how scuffed up they appeared.
"It's alright, was there a game today?" Lynn blinked, the two looked like they had been in a tough baseball game, seeing them dressed like that did little to help her mood given the upcoming conversation at hand.
"No, the coach wanted us to practice today, she's gotten a little more intense since you got benched." Paula explained, it was not like they were forced to go, the two had nothing better to do anyway today so they had opted into joining the practice session, Lynn had her head resting in her hand. Margo could tell that something was weighing on the sporty Loud's mind, it made her worried given the last time they talked was over the phone, and that was when she had to help fabricate an excuse for Lynn to be out past curfew.
It only took a few minutes for them all to order their food, Lynn did not want much, just getting some fries and a milkshake, her teammates were having their usual favorites though.
"Is everything okay, Lynn?" Paula queried, she had been told by Margo that something had been wrong with their close friend for a while now, neither of them knew what though, it made them worried that it was a problem far worse than just simply being benched, they had been looking forward to having Lynn return to playing with them, she would be allowed off the bench officially as of Wednesday. Paula and Margo both noticed just how rough the palms of Lynn's hands looked, like she had attempted to catch herself during a bad fall, the reality was that the injuries were caused by Lynn-Sanity being careless when navigating the woods on the night of Chandler's assault, the only reason most of the Loud family were oblivious to the scratched up limbs was because of the sports loving Loud hiding them unintentionally.
"I won't lie to you guys; it's been pretty bad lately." Lynn apologetically spoke as she pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to think of the best way to break the news to them. "I'm sorry for not hanging out as much as we used to." She added, aware she had been neglecting her friendships lately, the excuse of having a broken skull only went so far.
"It's fine, I know it's hard to get back to your routine when half of it's been removed." Paula assured there was no problem, she remembered how little she wanted to hang out at first when she broke her leg a long time ago, being more or less forced out of her moping by Lynn herself coincidentally.
"Yeah! I'll just be happy to have you back on the team, baseball hasn't been the same without you." Margo smiled warmly, she wanted to do her best to help the athletic Loud return to normalcy, the baseball player was surprised when Lynn did not try to sneak in some practice with them since the 5th oldest Loud had trouble resisting her restless bodies desires sometimes.
"About that..." Lynn swallowed a mouthful of her food, finding herself pausing, that hesitation to share the truth stemming from worrying about their reactions, she was scared about making her best friends mad, that was plenty enough to intimidate her as is.
"Just tell them the truth, they'll understand." The maternal split personality tried to give that gentle nudge for the aspiring sports star, she sighed.
"I need to take a break; I'm not going to be playing anymore sports until next year, so... I'm going to be quitting every one of my teams tomorrow." Lynn declared her intention, due to her pregnancy she could no longer safely participate in sports, she did not like it, but it was the right thing to do in her mind.
"What?!" Paula gasped; Margo wound up spitting her drink out onto the table in shock from the surprising news, if there was one thing that was well known about Lynn, it was her refusal to quit or back down from a challenge, even when sick she would try to play to the best of her ability, often only being convinced to take it easy by Lincoln, hearing that the sports loving Loud was quitting everything though, the mere concept of it was unbelievable to them.
"Why? Did something happen on the team?!" Margo requested to know the truth, as far as the two of them were aware Lynn was on good terms with everyone on their team, hit or miss with the coaches, the boy's teams were pretty fond of the sporty Loud as well.
"Did your grades slip too low?" Paula asked, Lynn had been benched for getting grades too low before after all, ever since the last time it nearly happened the athletically gifted Loud had been relying on Lisa for subjects that she did not understand the best.
"Will you two PLEASE calm down? Besides, you should be happy, without me you guys get more chances to shine in games." Lynn tried to spin it in a positive manner for them, there had been plenty of times where the sporty Loud had stolen the limelight from her friends, and reacted poorly when they got it themselves sometimes, it was one of the sporty Loud's ego related issues that she had to get over when she was younger.
"We don't care about who looks good at a game, we just like playing with you! If something is wrong you can tell us, we want to help." Margo insisted, the two seeing Lynn stand up from the booth they were sat at.
"Look I want to tell you, I just can't right now, not until I'm sure..." Lynn confessed, sounding like she was torn between being upset or happy at the circumstances causing her to quit all of her teams for the time being, she wanted to tell her friends about the pregnancy, the aspiring sports star knew that would only bring on a slew of questions about who the father was, Lynn wanted to at least wait a month until things settled down a little more in her life before she considered breaking the news to anybody.
"You guys can have my equipment; I won't be needing it." Lynn informed them, every person on the team had their own personal equipment, whether they acquired it themselves or were gifted it by the school, as long as it was deemed to be good gear, it would be allowed. Lynn had her best lucky equipment at home anyhow, so giving up the stuff she used at school did not matter to her.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom, be back in a sec." Lynn gave a weak smile to her friends before walking off, leaving the two there with their mouths agape.
"I can't believe it, Lynn-Sanity quitting sports..." Margo rested her head in her hands while her elbows were on the table, unable to believe it. Paula was more focused on just how depressed Lynn came off through that entire conversation, like the sports loving Loud had to force herself through word of it reluctantly.
"Maybe we should talk to her brother tomorrow?" Paula suggested, it was usually what any of Lynn's friends did when they needed help with her in some regard, they would turn to her brother. Margo quirked an eyebrow, it was obvious that Lynn was not telling them everything, yet the blonde girl was acting like she suspected something far worse was going on.
"What for? I don't think he can talk her out of it." Margo confusedly replied, the baseball teammate assuming that the middle Loud sibling already knew very well about this already.
"No not because of that, just..." Paula paused for a moment, not wanting to jump to conclusions but she would be a terrible friend if she pretended to ignore the signs of depression that she saw in Lynn. "I'm just being reminded a lot of what happened to my boyfriend's brother." She began, putting her burger back down with only a quarter of it left, Margo tilting her head as she listened intently.
"His brother was on the boy's swim team, he was pretty great at it, but one day he just suddenly dropped it all and said it wasn't fun anymore. He started giving his stuff away, he wasn't eating as much, he lost a lot of weight, he quit caring about those around him, next thing they know, they found him not breathing on the floor in his room... He took a lot of their mom's painkillers." Paula recounted the tragic event her own boyfriend had to go through, it was an extremely rough time in their relationship, it had happened two years ago.
Hearing that made Margo begin to pick up on just what Paula was getting at, Lynn suddenly dropping everything she loved most in the world not counting her own family, sports, her roughed up hands and depressed demeanor, the sporty Loud barely had ordered anything to eat as well, mostly compared to the fact they knew how much food Lynn could put away with minimal effort, giving away her gear to her teammates.
"You think Lynn might... There's no way." Margo leaned back in her seat and crossed her arms, then again, she never believed Lynn would ever quit playing sports for any amount of time unless she had no choice but to stop playing either, so today was already pretty unbelievable.
"That's why I want us to talk to Lincoln tomorrow." Paula implored her friend, Margo thought on it for a moment, eventually she nodded, while she did not want to jump straight to any conclusions nor cause Lynn any trouble, she wanted to make sure her best friend was alright, Lincoln was the best bet at doing that, since they both knew the sporty Loud would deny any queries about her mental health being worse.
The two dropped the subject immediately upon seeing Lynn returning, Margo and Paula decided to focus on spending their time together with Lynn in a positive manner, instead of continuing to hammer away at her with questions, wanting to try and show that she was not alone if she ever needed them.
