Derek decided against a service for Peter. He rationalized Peter would have hated a service, since everyone that would have attended detested him. After a long phone call with Cora, he'd come up with a better plan instead. She was on her way from South America to Beacon Hills. To say she was pissed was an understatement. Cora couldn't understand why she wasn't called immediately when they realized they were in danger and extremely offended Sadie had called Stiles vs her. Sadie was looking forward to seeing her sister-in-law and also worried that she'd get punched in retaliation for not being included.

Luckily when Derek picked her up from the airport, Sadie's fears were unfounded. Cora lifted her into a tight hug the second she crossed the threshold, "You idiots. All of you. Derek said you almost lost your fingers. Show me."

Sadie offered her bandaged hand for inspection, Cora gripping her wrist none-too-gently and taking what little pain she still had after taking pain relievers. Cora's dark eyes gave Sadie a pointed stare as she protested, "Maybe next time don't grab the blade of a sword if you don't want the wolves in your life to help you feel better?"

Typical Cora. She was blunt, but she was typically right. Sadie rolled her eyes at her. "The alternative was decapitation. I would assume you like my head where it is."

"I know my brother does."

Sadie laughed loudly at that as Derek entered with Cora's suitcases. "What's so funny?"

Cora shook her head at her brother, "None of your business big bro. Where's my nephew?"

She bounded down the hall at Sadie's nod toward Eli's door, not even bothering to knock before throwing herself into the room. Sadie felt that was a risky move, having already walked in on that horror every Mother of a teen boy experienced. Luckily Eli was lounging on his bed playing a video game when his Aunt launched herself at him.

"Aunt Cora! Holy shit, wait-"

Sadie and Derek leaned in the doorway as Cora wrestled their son to the ground. Eli flailed in response, reminding Sadie very much of Stiles. Cora paused, frowning up at the pair in the doorway. "I thought you said he shifted? Why isn't he fighting back? Are you sure you're a wolf Eli?"

Cora jabbed at him again and finally Eli realized what was happening. Sadie glanced up at Derek, "Did you do this as a kid?"

Derek nodded, "Cora was especially rough. She was the only one who held her own against Peter."

"Not even you? Laura?"

Derek hesitated at her question and before he could answer Cora replied, pinning Eli to the ground with a triumphant yell. Eli signed in defeat, leaning his head back on the ground with a thump.

"Derek thought Peter hung the moon when he was a kid. He wouldn't have ever really used his full strength with him in the chance he'd win. He didn't want to hurt Peter's feelings."

Sadie pressed a teasing hand to Derek's chest. "Awe, you were a softie."

His eyes narrowed at her, lifting the hand on his chest to his mouth to nip at her fingertips, then kissing them gently.

"Gross" Eli and Cora said in unison, noses wrinkled in disgust.

"I almost died. I'm kissing my wife whenever I want," Derek shot back, arm curling around her possessively.

"Take it outside then, good lord. There are impressionable young eyes in here!" Cora said with an eye roll.

Sadie grinned as Derek pulled her out of the doorway and to the end of the hallway. She heard Cora exclaim in horror when she spotted Eli's lizard in its tank by the window before the door shut and Derek fully invaded her senses.

He'd quickly backed her against the wall, one hand sliding up the back of her shirt as the other tangled in her hair. He licked into her mouth, pressing up into her. Sadie melted into him, her injured hand resting against his chest while her right hand slid down the back of his shirt, nails dragging across his skin. He growled in response, moving away from her mouth to work down her neck. With the full moon looming tomorrow night, Derek as usual, couldn't get enough of his wife.

"Catch it! Oh my god, how do you sleep with that thing in here? Eli!"

Sadie's eyes snapped open, her haze of arousal disappearing. Derek paid no attention to the chaos that was ensuing in his son's room as he continued to bite at Sadie's collarbone. She pushed gently at him. "Derek…baby…Cora's going to rip that lizard in half if she catches it before Eli."

"Let her," he murmured against her skin, teeth sinking back in.

Sadie groaned, her head tipping back, "I don't want to have to clean that up."

"Aunt Cora, don't! Potato is really nice, he's just an iguana!"

"POTATO? THIS THING IS NAMED POTATO?"

Derek sighed, halting his movements. Taking a moment to collect himself before pulling away from his wife, his eyes still dark with want. He pinned Sadie with a heavy gaze, "Before we leave tomorrow I'm going to-"

Sadie nodded furiously, her heart still thumping wildly in her chest. "Twice. Three times. You can't leave until I'm done with you."

Derek stepped back, taking a deep breath before nearly ripping Eli's door off the hinges. Cora practically leapt out of the room in a panic and past her brother. She looked at Sadie incredulously, as she pulled her into the living room.

"You let him have that demon in the same room he sleeps in? Are you crazy? What's wrong with a dog?"

"Literally he wanted Potato or a snake. Lydia has me in a group chat with Jackson, so I didn't need another snake in my life. You know he literally signs his texts with snake and eggplant emojis?"

Cora scoffed, "I don't know how you tolerate any of them. I'm grateful every day that you ended up Derek's mate instead of Lydia Martin. Do you think Peter knew when he bit you? That you were destined for my brother?"

She sat down heavily on the couch, looking up at Sadie expectantly Cora pat the space next to her on the couch. Sadie sat beside her, tucking her legs underneath her.

"When he gave me the bite, he said he couldn't wait to see how valuable I really was. What potential I had. I was just valuable to a different wolf. He didn't seem surprised by it though when it came to light," Sadie, casting a glance down the hallway where Derek and Eli were arguing about the stupid lizard.

"Still valuable to a Hale though. Peter didn't do anything that wouldn't benefit him," Cora pointed out.

"Except for this last time."

"Except for this last time," Cora agreed, sadness settling across her face. Sadie squeezed her hand in comfort and was thankful that Cora gently returned the squeeze instead of crippling her other hand. The younger woman cleared her throat, pushing her tears away. She smiled at Sadie, tucking one of her stray curls behind her ear.

"I have to get my time in with you before we leave in the morning. I assume you're not coming along on the 'Wolf 101' trip?" Cora asked, raising her eyebrows at her.

"I'm not, thank god. I'm not a good camper with a tent, let alone just sleeping straight on the ground. Not to mention I have nothing to add of value."

Cora gave her a playful shove, "Not true. Derek told me you showed Eli how to take pain all by yourself."

Sadie shrugged, "He already knew how, he's seen Derek do it dozens of times. I just gave him the reassurance he needed."

"Mate skills coming in strong," Cora joked and Sadie laughed. "Seriously though Sadie, I wish you were coming. Even if you'd bitch the whole time about sleeping on the ground."

The natural born Hale werewolves were leaving in the morning for 'Wolf 101' as Cora kept calling it, but it had a deeper meaning. In lieu of a service for Peter, Derek wanted to show Eli everything he knew about being a wolf that Peter had taught him. Despite his sometimes less than conventional ways, Peter had been a guiding hand in helping Derek grow into his wolf due to his Mother being busy with Alpha duties. They would honor his sacrifice by keeping his memory alive and showing Eli wha knowledge he'd passed on. The good stuff anyway, not how to buy 100 v-necks. Tomorrow night was Eli's first full moon and they would return from their 'Wolf 101' once Derek felt he'd taught him enough. Sadie just hoped it would go easily, especially after the week they'd all had.

"Trust me. One hour into trying to sleep on the ground and you'd be dumping me back on the front lawn in less than ten minutes."

Cora held her hands up, relenting on trying to get Sadie to tag along. She told Sadie her latest news from her home in South America. After all the strife with the Alpha pack over ten years ago, Cora had gone back to South America almost immediately. The pack she'd joined when she thought her entire family was dead was perfect for her. She'd originally wanted to stay in Beacon Hills, to join Derek's pack, but after he lost his Alpha power, Cora told Scott bluntly she'd rather wolfsbane herself than join his pack. Derek had tried to convince her to stay, but knew she had a home where she was safe and loved, so he let her go.

Sadie and Derek had visited her several times and met her pack, but it was nice to have her back in Beacon Hills with them. The two women caught up on the couch, Derek joining them after he'd sorted Eli and his demon lizard out. He'd pulled Sadie from her spot on the couch to settle in his lap in the armchair, needing her closer.

Cora watched the two with a smile. Derek, noting her expression, narrowed his eyes at her.

"Why are you smiling like that? It's creepy."

"Jesus Christ, can't a woman be happy for her brother?" Derek gave her another pointed look, but Cora shook her head. "I'm happy you're here Derek. I knew something was wrong when you called and just knew we'd lost someone again…" she paused, swallowing hard, "...after Mom, the family…Boyd…"

"Hey," Derek interrupted, gently nudging Sadie off his lap to kneel in front of his sister, taking her hands in his. "Nobody else is going anywhere. Peter is the last one we lose, okay? The Hale Family is staying alive and in one piece."

Cora nodded, wiping away the tears that had started to fall, shoving her brother lightly. "Then call me more often. The last time you called me out of the blue was when Eli was born and Sadie almost died. I need more casual phone calls Derek, not just texting."

"If he won't, I will Cora. I promise." Sadie added. Derek looked over his shoulder at her, "Who says I won't call?"

"Uh, your call record for one. Two, you aren't the best at communicating with anyone that isn't Sadie," Cora listed off on her fingers, pausing, "Do you want me to keep going?"

Derek shoved her into the pillows roughly with a growl, "Shut up!"

Sadie winced, hearing her couch creak at the movement, "And I thought Scott and I had a weird relationship"

The three Hale werewolves were gone by dawn, running off into the woods across the street from their house with only a backpack. Derek left Sadie with a burning kiss on the porch, requesting she stay out of trouble for at least twenty-four hours, handing her his cell phone for safe keeping in the event he fully shifted. After the last week, hell the last ten plus years, she didn't want to see any trouble for a long time. Unfortunately for her, trouble came wheezing up the street on a bike she hadn't seen used in over a decade.

Stiles crashed the bike in front of her house and flopped onto her lawn, sweating profusely. Pulling her bathrobe tighter around her, Sadie ran to him, kneeling in the dew damp grass beside her panting friend.

"What the actual hell are you doing, Stiles?"

He held up a finger, signaling he needed a moment. Stiles gulped in air like a man dying of thirst before pushing himself to sit up.

"I promised Lydia I wouldn't get in a car and I mean it. If I have to ride a bike for the rest of my life to be with her, to get to marry her in the spring, I'm going to be the next Lance friggin Armstrong!"

She gave him a pointed look, helping him to his feet. "You know he did steroids, right?"

"Then I'll do steroids!"

"No you won't."

"No I won't."

Sadie dumped him into one of her kitchen chairs, grabbing another coffee cup from the cupboard to pour him a cup. She sat the cup in front of him, taking the seat across the table.

"Not that I'm not happy to see you, but what are you doing here at seven am?"

Stiles took a sip of the coffee before sputtering, "You drink this black? Still? Being a mom hasn't softened you into using coffee creamer?"

She wordlessly grabbed one of the many flavored coffee creamers from the fridge, slamming it in front of Stiles. "I've been up since four am Stiles. Coconut-A-Go-Go Creamer wasn't what I was looking for at four am when I was trying to keep my eyes open."

He poured way too much creamer to be healthy into his cup, sighing contentedly with his next sip. "Lydia and I leave tomorrow, separate planes obviously to be extra cautious, but I wanted to ask you a favor before we left."

Sadie nodded for him to continue, "Can you find a house in the city for us and just not tell Lydia?"

She wasn't expecting that. "Uh, you want me to find you a house, get you into escrow and not tell my best friend about it? What are you going to do with a house in San Francisco?"

Stiles grinned widely, "Live there, smart ass."

Sadie pressed a hand to her forehead, not running on enough sleep or coffee for this conversation. "You live in Virginia. Lydia already has an apartment in Berkeley."

He waved his hand dismissively, "You're missing my whole point here Sades. Lydia and I are back together. I requested and was granted a transfer this morning. I'm being sent to the San Francisco office. I won't need to drive anywhere since Beacon Hills has a BART station now."

She jumped in her seat, eyes widening with excitement. "Wait, you're moving back to California? I'll have you and Lydia less than an hour away?"

"Do you have a head injury? You're taking this all in very slowly."

Sadie ignored him, squealing as she threw her arms around his neck in a hug. "Literally this is the best news! Scott and Allison here in Beacon Hills. You and Lydia in the city! Does your Dad know?"

"Nobody knows, just you."

She nodded quickly, running to get her laptop out of the office. "Where are we thinking? How many bedrooms? Do you want to be fully in the city or closer to Lydia's office? There's a really nice one we just put on the market in Piedmont-"

"You know us best so I trust you're not going to find me a hellhole. Take sourwolf to sniff out any rats. Lydia says they're everywhere in the Bay."

Sadie stared over her laptop at him, "Do you think I take Derek on my listing appointments to sniff out rats?"

"You don't? I made Scott smell under the crawl space at Dad's when he said he saw a rat."

Stiles and Scott had a very unusual relationship. Sadie was a little more practical and instead used a local pest company when helping her clients buy or sell their homes. She found a few homes on the MLS, sliding the laptop across the table to Stiles. "These are all available to tour today if you want to go today. I'm 100% not going to ride a tandem bike with you all over Berkeley to view these, but they're not far from BART stations so I can meet you there?"

Stiles leapt to his feet, "Perfect! Maybe put some clothes on before we go? Unless this is what you look like on your bus benches?"

Sadie closed her laptop after booking the home tours, giving Stiles a hard look. "I don't have bus benches. Realtors don't do that anymore, Stiles."

Sadie and Stiles didn't look further than the third home they toured, Stiles immediately wanting to put an offer in. He'd been on the rooftop patio for all of two minutes before he turned to Sadie, gesturing out at the view of the ocean in the distance, "I want it. What do we do? Do I write a check?"

"It's not 1998. We make a compelling offer. It's vacant so that helps with a closing timeline."

By 6pm, Sadie was sitting with Stiles in a nearby restaurant, toasting to his accepted offer. Being in the FBI and making too much money for a government job, Stiles essentially put the money down immediately with escrow. Within a week if everything went smoothly with the paperwork and inspections, the house would be his.

Sadie took her first sip of her cocktail, wrinkling her nose at the taste. She didn't drink often. Maybe a glass of wine sometimes at home with dinner, but she knew the drink didn't taste right. Stiles looked at her curiously, "What's wrong?"

She sniffed the drink, trying another sip before spitting it back into the glass discreetly. "It tastes awful. Like gasoline or something."

Stiles immediately glanced over at the bartender for any sign of suspicious behavior. The elderly man was shuffling to the other end of the bar, struggling to open the bottle of wine in his hands. He certainly didn't look like the kind of guy to put something in her drink. Lifting the glass, Stiles peered at the bottom, looking for the telltale sign of a dissolving roofie. Not seeing anything, Stiles took a sip.

"Stiles! I spit in that!"

He rolled his eyes at her, "We dated, do you not remember that? I've had your tongue in my mouth. Your backwash drink doesn't scare me," taking another, larger sip. "It tastes fine. Just like a lemon drop is supposed to?"

Sadie felt hot suddenly, fanning herself as her shirt stuck to her sweaty chest. Stiles' eyes grew wide, taking in her sudden change in appearance. The color had drained from her face, the curls that had fallen from her messy bun were clinging to her neck and face. He started to fan her with his menu, the server nowhere in sight. Stiles pushed her glass of water at her, continuing to fan.

"Drink this. I think I need to take you to a hospital. You're not looking so hot Sadie."

Sadie tried to reply to tell him how rude he was, but found her mouth feeling like it was full of cotton, her vision spinning. Her hand reached for the water glass, but went limp like the rest of her as she lost consciousness, sliding out of her chair into a stunned Stiles' arms.
