Earlier that same day.
"Ugh really do I have to do this?"
"Look Luna, what are you worried about?"
Luna and Regis were walking the main street. It wasn't often that she got time to spend with her fellow companion however it wasn't a pleasure trip. She understood that business always came first.
"I'm not worried! I just don't understand why I have to join some random Familia!"
He shrugged, his hands resting in his pockets as he made a long and disappointed sigh. His eyes drifting from person to person, as his pace quickened.
"Because I need the boy to win this damn wargame. Freya has been quite vocal about her dislike for Apollo's plan."
"But you said we were finished with the boy, and why are we Freya's lackey's now? If you ask me this seems like a waste of time…"
He looked back at his long-time companion, shaking his head. He took a brief moment to look at Babel. His eyes piercing the past the heavens themselves.
"Believe me it's not, we need allies, Freya is a powerful and influential goddess in this city. Not only do we have her protection but her connections as well. As for the boy, I'd be remiss in letting such a prodigy go to waste."
Luna watched him. He was always cautious, never taking risks unless he had to, the last few days had been out of character for him. She had watched his obsession over a certain boy become a key problem for all them.
"Hmm? If you've taken such an interest in the boy why not just invite him in?"
'I would if I could Luna… Nothing is ever that simple though!'
"The boy is the family of an old friend… I made a promise to keep him out of this… However that doesn't mean I will stop him making his own decisions. I just can't influence it."
They stopped at the crossroads, Regis began scratching his face, specifically close to his old scars. They often annoyed him, while the pain had long since past the mark hadn't, it was hard to ignore them.
"Look… Why don't we stop somewhere for a bite to eat huh… my treat."
Luna stopped, the look of disbelief on her face said it all.
"W-Why? I mean yes B-but?"
He shrugged, looking up at the sky.
"Once you join Hestia's Familia almost all contact with you will be cut. That includes telepathically too… This will be the last time we'll speak for awhile. But I think you also need to understand why I'm entrusting this to you and only you."
She nodded understanding the situation.
'Guess I should have expected this. I'm glad he trusts me but…'
"Lead the way… You best not skimp out, but just to be sure I know a lovely little cafe nearby!"
He gulped as he knew Luna had a particular pallet when it came to sweets… especially the expensive kind… However his dismay didn't go unnoticed as she jabbed her elbow into his side.
"Hey! I'm the one doing all the work here the least you can do is treat me once in a while! If you're gonna be like this I'll make sure to purposely order all the expensive items."
Her coy smile matched her face perfectly, she acted so shy around people or overly aggressive, But he knew that deep down she was a little minx.
"Fine lead the way the way your… Majesty."
She moved to his side a small skip in her step as she smiled. Grabbing his arm and pulling him forwards. The purple haired girl was always a joy to watch when she was happy, but a pain in the arse when she wasn't.
'Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I never met you that day… What would your life be like if you never joined me…'
He followed behind her, less than amused at his current situation, It didn't take them long however before they reached the small yet elegant cafe on the main street. It was strange to be greeted without his mask. The waiters didn't seem to act any differently to him, which was nice for a change.
'Guess I am just a relic of the past now, time has forgotten me and so have the masses only the gods now who I am…'
He relaxed knowing this as he followed behind his joyful companion, who was already murmuring what treats she was going to order. They arrived at a small balcony with a few tables dotted around. It was quite busy and only one remained. The two took their seats and ordered. Once that was done he returned his full attention to her and the plan.
"I suppose its about time I explain your mission… or favour in this particular case…"
He leaned back into his chair and once again started scratching his face as he thought about how he was going to explain it. Luna meanwhile settled down sipping some tea as she waited patiently for her sweets to arrive.
"I suppose its about time I told you a little about my past… You see I was once part of a large and powerful Familia… Zeus my god was both a stern and well likeable man should we say… I admired him and slowly rose through the ranks of the Familia…"
Luna put down her cup and focused on the conversation.
'He never talks about his past… What does this have to do with the boy?'
"It was like one big family, can't say it was always a happy one, hell we caused more fights with each other then I care to remember ha-ha…"
He went quiet for a moment, it was only brief but she spotted a small single tear drop from his eyes before his expression turned back to normal. That brief moment was the first time she had seen him sad.
"There was this one man… I can never remember his name… Fool of an adventurer, he was always the first to run away, I used to have to chase him in the dungeons to make sure he didn't get hurt…"
He coughed.
"Anyways I always saw him like a brother and well we shared a common interest shall we say… I never understood why Zeus favoured him but I didn't care much… Idiot nearly started a war with Hera… As if he would bang the sister of the Silence herself!"
Luna had heard the stories of old Heroes of Zeus and Hera, the Predator and the Silence, both monsters of strength in there respective Familia's…
"Anyways, I knew the girl well, she was a kind soul always willing to help others no matter their circumstance… I'll admit I had a soft spot for her, she was beautiful, but I guess the idiot beat me to her… I was there for their child's birth I remember when she passed him onto to Zeus… I promised her I'd keep an eye over the boy…"
Luna realised where this was going, understanding the situation at hand…
"So… That boy is…"
He nodded.
"Yes that boy is their child, I'll admit my promise to her had long since past… I fell out with Zeus and thus never saw the boy again… When next I saw him, I felt I owed him a debt… He may follow the teachings and will of Zeus, but I won't needlessly throw his life away!
The waiter returned with plates of delicately made sweets and cakes, the sad look on Luna soon dispersed as she started drooling over them. Regis couldn't help but chuckle as he remembered a similar scene.
Flashback.
"Hey I know I said this was a treat to celebrate but you really don't have to order every…"
The white haired girl gave him a pouting look a tear in her eye as she looked over the menu. He threw his hands up.
"Hey hey I was joking, order what you want… It's not everyday you get pregnant. Speaking of which where is that idiot any ways he was supposed to be joining us?"
Meteria's smile was radiating however it didn't last as she went into a coughing fit!
"Hey are you okay… Don't get too excited…"
"I'm sorry...Cough… It's just… I never thought I'd get this chance to have a child… Besides, Alfia said she wanted to talk to him, she said she'd join us as well when they were done."
"Ohh your sisters coming… I don't know if I should be scared or terrified!"
Meteria giggled and shook her head.
"Cough! You know there's more terrifying things out there then just my sister."
He nodded… As he reached forward to snatch the menu from her.
"Yeah...Getting between you and your sweet obsession, even the gods know not to do that!"
The two of them burst out laughing…
"Have you thought of a name yet? I mean assuming its a boy or girl I mean…"
She smiled and nodded.
"Bell!"
End of flashback
"Hey! Hey are you even listening!"
He broke out of his day dream as he shook his head bringing his hand up to hold it. He looked at the confused girl. Who had already demolished one of her cakes.
"S-sorry… Guess I blanked out there huh…"
Luna sighed.
'I'd barely call that blanking out… You were gone for a good few minutes!'
"Whatever, come on, your tea is getting cold, and you were explaining to me why this is so important."
He coughed into his hand and nodded.
"Cough yes well, since your the only one with any interaction with him he will be sympathetic to you… Besides you've taken a small interest in him yourself no?"
Luna burst into a heavy blushed as she slammed her hands down on the table.
"I DO NOT LIKE HIM!"
Regis stopped mid sip as he looked at the girl. He tried oh so hard not to burst out laughing. He finished his sip and remained calm and stoic.
"I didn't say you did… I just said you had an interest in him was all… Perhaps your more invested then I thought?"
He was now smiling and she knew what he was playing at. She slid back into her chair and grabbed a plate full of cake. She turned in the opposite direction and started eating it. Regis decided to continue his explanation.
"Any ways, you will receive her Falna and you will grow stronger… You may build a relationship with them if you so choose, so long as you win the wargame I don't care what you do."
She stopped
"And afterwards?"
"I'd like you to remain with them for awhile… At least to keep up appearances, when the time is right you'll be free to leave. I doubt Hestia will stop you… Just think of it as a way to get stronger."
She nodded and finished off the cake placing the plate down.
"What about you and Void what are your plans?"
"Void is finally going to get his wish, He will be joining Freya, think of him as our inside man. I have made a special arrangement with Freya that allows him to remain under me… Its just allows us to give him some cover…"
He took a forkful of cake and savoured it for a second before taking another. The two worked through it quietly.
"As for me… I have my own plan… Forgive me if I don't tell you!"
She shrugged,
"You never do…"
She finished off her tea and cake, placing the fork on the table.
"Thank you for the sweets… I guess this is goodbye for now…"
He nodded getting to his feet to join her.
"Hey don't worry I'll try to stay in touch!"
She gave him a small hug, which for her was uncharacteristic. She let out a small tear as she tightened the hold.
"Thank you… For everything, I promise I'll make you proud! After all without you I doubt I'd have a life at all…"
He smiled and returned her hug. She had come along way, but now the real test was about to begin.
"Take care, I'll contact you before the wargame and don't worry I'll be cheering you on!"
With that they parted ways as Luna headed for the door. Leaving Regis to return to his seat. He watched her run down the road heading towards the Hostess.
'I suppose it's better this way… She'll grow a lot more now. Suppose I best get Void prepared. No doubt Freya will want to take him for a spin… Though perhaps he'll enjoy it?'
"Waiter could I get the bill please!"
Meanwhile at the Soma Familia
Lili, Hestia and Hermes all arrived at the main gate, only to find it was guarded by half drunk idiots. It was no surprise that they were greeted by his captain. Zanis Lustra a tall thin faced man.
"Welcome. How can I help the gods today…"
He turned to look at Lili who was hiding behind the two of them, A large smile forming on his face.
"Might I assume you're returning our lost child? Our lord Soma has been most distraught over her disappearance."
Lili shivered with fear when the man spoke, Hestia took note of this but didn't say anything instead letting Hermes take the lead.
"Uhmm, Yes and we wish to make a formal apology to lord Soma for not informing him sooner."
While the man's outwards appearance didn't show it his voice did.
"I'm afraid Lord Soma is far to busy at the moment, perhaps another time. Now come Lili Its long time you reacquainted yourself with you family!"
His words were calm but had a stern undertone to them, Lili gulped but Hermes moved in front of her.
"I'm sure lord Soma would like to see her too know after all if he has been so distraught over her disappearance then surely he'd like to see she's safe and sound?"
Zanis's exterior facade broke as he gave a scornful look at the god. But it quickly returned to its normal self.
"Yes, yes he would, still I don't see why you would need to see him at this time… Familia matters are different after all."
Hermes nodded.
"But of course but, I'm sure Soma would like to be compensated…"
The man's eyes seemed to light up at the word.
"Ohh I suppose a quick talk wouldn't be too much of a bother… If you'd follow me."
Hestia came next to him and motioned for his ear.
"Ohh did you know he'd let us in?"
"You'd be surprised what you learn from a brothel Argh…"
He seemed to stumble slightly, he looked to his leg as he walked with a slight pain.
"But he does have some expensive habits. Doubt he earns that much money on a regular basis without some shady deals."
She didn't need to know anything else as they slowly made their way through the warehouse. They slowly came up to a set of large doors with the emblem of the Soma Familia engraved into the wood. Zanis knocked.
"My lord you have visitors!"
There was no reply, however the doors opened and they were meet with a dark and smokey room. In the corner was a tall man with thick long black hair which covered his eyes. He made the briefest look at them but quickly turned back.
"I did say my god is busy… Say what you have to say and I will escort you out."
Hermes was hoping he'd leave the room but the captain remained behind them as if he knew what they were planning. But he knew that cockiness could be used to their advantage.
"Go on Lili…"
Zanis scowled at him while their back was turned.
"I believe you had something to say to him?"
Hermes smiled but didn't turn round raising his hand.
"Ohh we'll be quick, but first I'm sure Soma would like to hear what young Lili has to say."
Lili gulped and walked forward towards her god. Her footsteps were quiet and slow, it showed her uncertainty. Hestia watched the girl who had always been quick to bite back, now barely holding herself together.
'What the Hell did they put her through…'
"L-Lord Soma?"
The silent god didn't turn to look at her instead focusing on the pot cauldron in front of him. She went to open her mouth but stopped. Hestia carefully followed her shaky eyes. Fear of something was keeping her from speaking. She mentally followed her gaze, he was standing behind her.
'Damn it now I know why he won't leave, he knows she won't speak out of fear.'
"Well Lili if you don't have anything to say our god then please step aside and allow these patient gods to apologize."
Hestia clenched a fist, but she knew Lili, she knew she wanted to help Bell. She knew that if she could play on her guilt…
'Forgive me Lili.'
"Yes please, I have to get back to my Familia and prepare for the wargame!"
Her voice was cold and collected. Lili turned to her and saw the unforgiving stare. She wasn't prepared for it, in fact it caused her to step back.
'No… Bell…'
"Hey what the Hell are you doing I thought…"
Hermes spoke in whisper not to alert everyone but Hestia just continued to dead stare the poor girl.
"I don't have time for this Hermes. If she has nothing to say then I will take my leave!"
Hermes was confused for a few seconds until he saw the look on Lili's face, it was completely different from what it was before. Now she was worried, worried about what Hestia was saying, the girls focus was completely on her.
"Wait!"
She turned to Soma, getting on her hands and knees. She closed her eyes taking a short breath as she looked up.
"Please Lord Soma… I wish to leave the Familia!"
Both Hestia and Hermes smiled however they knew it was not going to be that easy, Soma was notorious for being hard to deal with in any situation. The silence lasted a short while until it was broken by the impatient captain.
"I've had enough of this! It's obvious that Lord Soma has no intention or care to respond to such a request. Ill say this once more leave and let…"
Hestia glared at the man.
"She is part of our business, I want to hear Soma's response. She can stay till then!"
The man bit his tongue and hid his fist behind his back.
'Little bitch! I don't care if she's a goddess, she's probably as useful as my god!'
"My lord, just say the word and I'll have them escorted off the property."
Soma still remained quiet. However Lili didn't stop her plea as she came to his side. Her tears flowed down her face.
"Please… Please I beg of you I'll do anything, anything ! Please…"
Zanis pushed past Hermes and Hestia moving towards her. He was angry, his face. No his true face was showing itself.
"DID YOU NOT HEAR ME GET OUT!"
He was about to lunge out at her. However before he could their god turned around to look at her. He raised his hand causing him to stagger back.
"B-but why?"
Soma sighed and reached round and pulled out a small clay jar bearing his insignia. Both Lili and Zanis went wide eyed at the sight, it could only be one thing. Even Hermes and Hestia knew it…
"Soma… True Soma…"
Soma nodded and looked at Lili.
"If you truly believe that, then drink… If you want it that badly then you will overcome and ask me again…"
Zanis laughed.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha nobody has ever been able to handle Lord Soma's true alcohol! You should give up and… HUH!"
He watched as the pallum girl grab the jar, taking a large glug of the liquid placing it back down. The effects took almost instantly as she dropped to the floor.
"Lili!"
Hermes stuck out his arm stopping her going to the girls side.
"No, this is part of the test… She needs to prove herself in his eyes…"
Hestia stood silently waiting and watching as the girl seemingly fainted from the effects. Zanis stood laughing at the sight while Hermes showed no outward emotion, instead he, like Hestia waited.
'Why? Why do I feel this way? Soo this is Soma…'
Lili didn't know why but it was like she was in a different world, the sounds of laughter from her captain became almost silent and her vision blurred into a single mass of colour. Her body seemed to relax and not respond even when she tried to move. Even her thoughts were hard to connect.
'Hy… Eastia, I'm sorry… Bell I'm!'
She couldn't understand why, even when she tried to connect her mind and thoughts it became harder and yet when she thought of Bell it all seemed to come together. She remembered how he aided her, believed in her and saved her. He risked his life to come to her aid even after she betrayed him. He forgave her and gave her a purpose.
'I still need to repay him… I still need to help him… He's the only one that ever treated me as an equal as… as a friend!'
Zanis' smile only grew larger with time and he hadn't stopped laughing. Hestia closed her eyes, her heart was heavy.
'Please Bell needs you…'
A white light formed before her and from it, Bell stood before her, A bright welcoming smile as he held out her hand for her.
"That's enough she failed, Lord Soma please let me remove her from your sight!"
Some sighed and was about to nod until a hand reached out and grabbed his robe. He was shocked to see that the girl was even able to move. Instead of allowing the man to grab her, he held out his arm stopping him.
"P-please… Let me leave the Familia… Let me join the Hestia Familia!"
Zanis went wide-eyed as he saw he overcoming the Soma. He took a step back but he wasn't about to let her speak any more.
'NO, I STILL NEED HER, I NEED TO USE HER POWER! MONEY, WOMEN AND POWER I CONTROL THIS FAMILIA NOT THIS EMBARRASSMENT OF A GOD!'
"I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!"
Soma got to his feet and turned to his captain.
"ENOUGH!"
Nobody could believe it, Soma was never one to care, never and now he had raised his voice. It was a first for the two gods as well. His face hadn't changed but they knew that his eyes had. Even though they were covered by his thick hair they could tell.
"Leave now!"
Zanis was horrified at the sight. No, at the thought that his god was speaking back to him. This was Soma, a man that didn't even care to change his own clothes at times. No, he wasn't about to take this not from him.
"Surely you're not serious! Not!"
"I said leave!"
Zanis was about to lose raising his arm up, a vein formed on his head and was about to burst. However before he could do anything Asfi suddenly appeared with knife to his throat.
"I hope you weren't attempting to harm a god? Need I remind you the punishment one receives for even raising a hand to one?"
Zanis went white as he dropped his fist.
"B-but how?"
Hermes stepped forward. A smile on his face as he patted Asfi on the back.
"She's been following us all this time ever since we entered the building. Luckily she's smart enough not to give herself away… Or at least I thought so!"
Asfi glared at her god.
"Lord Hermes don't think I've forgotten about that brothel comment?"
He let out a small sweat and waved her threat off.
"Y-yeah… Just get him out of here."
Asfi did as her god commanded and dragged him out of the room. Hermes and Hestia sighed with relief as they turned towards Lili who was crying heavily. Soma leaned down to her and placed a hand on her head.
"I-is this really one of my children?"
Hestia nodded.
"She is… She suffered greatly in this Familia. In human amounts of pain both physically and mentally. But what you didn't see was her overcoming it all. She stood tall and carried on through it."
He nodded and looked at her.
"I will accept your request, child… I can't take away the pain you had to endure.. But I will work to change that… Especially the ones that inflicted it!"
He turned to Hestia and Hermes. But he specifically looked to Hestia.
"I assume you have no objections to her request?"
"No I don't"
He nodded
"Then let us begin the transfer…"
Hestia forced Hermes to leave the room after he refused to stay turned around while Lili removed her shirt. He begged for her to let him stay but all he got was a slap on the cheek. He reluctantly left and waited outside as she locked the door. They proceed with the transfer and without delay. Soma made a small cut on his hand and placed it against her back. His mark and Falna revealed itself and he moved out the way for Hestia. She pricked her finger and allowed the blood to drop onto Lili's back. It absorbed it and slowly changed into her own mark.
"There it is done."
Lili rubbed her eyes.
"D-does this mean?"
"Yes Lili you are now a member of the Hestia Familia."
She couldn't hold back her joy as she jumped onto the goddess, giving her a huge hug. She didn't have to hide her emotions any more as she started balling her eyes out. Hestia could only smile as she returned it. She may have never seen eye to eye with her, but she was part of the Familia before and after.
"Come on let's head back, I'm sure you'll be interested to meet the other new members?"
Lili seemed to light up at the thought of new members the four of them disappeared into the distance and Soma smiled for the first time in a while and called all his Familia to him.
"It's time I take back control of my Familia… Thank you Liliruca for proving me wrong."
Void and Regis walked towards the tower of Babel, it was to be a quick meeting between the two of them and Freya. The city streets were packed and adventures ran about getting on with their day. Regis wished someone would follow their example.
"Seriously Void what's wrong?"
He couldn't see the man's face but he could hear his heavy breathing, the odd movements he made from time to time. Even when they stopped he noticed him fidgeting. He sighed and patted his back.
"You're worried aren't you?"
He laughed, but it wasn't the normal laugh, no it was on edge, he was trying to avoid answering trying to make it out that he was joking.
"Ha-ha me… Worried? No no, I'd never be worried about meeting one of the most powerful gods in Orario, a woman who's very gaze can enthral a man? A woman so beautiful..."
"Shut up I get it…"
Void let out a loud sigh and ran his hands through his white hair. Regis looked around and motioned him into a corner.
"Look I don't like this any more then you do? I've already had to have this conversation once today, I mean Luna took it better than you. I mean this is Luna we're talking about…"
Void shrugged, putting his hands into his pockets.
"I don't have a problem, I just can't get past the idea of being tied down… Is this really necessary?"
He nodded.
"Unfortunately yes… Look I don't like this any more then you do. Hell if the roles were reversed I'd happily take this opportunity."
Void laughed.
"Ha-ha just because she fucked you doesn't mean I'm gonna get any special treatment, after all, it's you she wants not me…"
'Ohh trust me, my friend, when she sees you I'm sure that would be quite the opposite.'
"Yeah maybe your right Void, but hey eye candy is eye candy I'm sure you'll find some enjoyment out of it…"
The man seemed to calm down if only sightly they shared a laugh and continued into the tower. The walk up was ungodly long. At one point Void had to stop to take a breather.
"I know this touches the sky but please tell me we don't have to walk all the way to the top?"
Regis shook his head.
"Noo I was just waiting for you to start complaining…"
"Go fuck yourself!"
"Ha-ha-ha come on she's waiting for us… Probably not best to show up late."
After another short walk and a teleport, they arrived at Freya's private residence. The door was guarded by two members of her Familia. Upon there arrival both Ottarl and Allen exited.
"Well well look at the young kitten that's finally learned to climb the tree."
Allen stopped and turned to the grey-haired man. His face was unimpressed with his taunt but, he also didn't look like he was going to back off ever.
"You might be an honoured guest of the goddess but be warned. One wrong word to her and I'll make your life a living misery!"
Regis smiled and leaned into the vice captain's ear.
"Your captain didn't need to threaten me, he just did it… I'm still standing here what makes you think I'm scared of you?"
Allen gritted his teeth as he pushed past him. Ottar sighed and followed him looking at the two, but specifically at Void. For a moment Void thought the man was looking directly at him. Almost as if he could see his face…
'Strange…'
The walked up to the door and were quickly welcomed. After a quick search for weapons, they were allowed to enter. The room entryway was dimly lit, it was still earlier in the day but there were few windows for light. Regis showed Void towards the main room. As he entered Void was taken aback by the extravagance.
"You'll get used to it…"
They didn't have to wait long before Freya entered the room from the other side. She was wearing a long white dress with a low cut skirt., It allowed a great few of her long thin legs as well as enhancing her breasts which seemed to push against the fabric.
"Welcome back… Should I assume this is the one we spoke about?"
She looked at the masked individual, at first glance there was nothing interesting about him, in fact, even when she looked at his soul it was a dull grey. She had instantly become bored before they even started.
"Yes… and don't let appearances deceive you… I promise he'll be a worthy addition to your little collection."
Void looked over to his friend and leader with worry, even though he couldn't see it, he had to anyways. He turned to look at Freya, the rumours, no the statements about her beauty were all true. He felt unable to look away from her. Though he did manage to just get a hold of himself as she stood up and walked over to them.
He shudders a little as she placed a hand on his mask. Running her fingers down to his neck and then to his chest. She rested her hand over his heart and smiled.
"Are you afraid of me… Or perhaps your thinking something naughty?!"
She enforced the ending suggestion as she licked her lips. In reality, she was just teasing him. She enjoyed it and it was seemingly easy with the man…
'At best he'll keep my interest for a day…'
She sighed as she stepped away and turned to the older adventurer. She had engaged in sexual activities with him out of frustration, but he promised her a fitting pawn as part of their new alliance. She leaned in to whisper in his ear.
"I hope he has more to show me… Otherwise, I might become bored… And I do hate being bored!"
He could only shrug causing her to walk away. Regis smiled as he decided to play his hand.
"Void remove your mask!"
Void seemed taken aback at first, and even had to second guess the man's words.
"A-are you sure?"
Regis nodded.
'Finally!'
He grabbed his mask with his right hand, Before he found himself unable to even move it away from his face, but now it seemed to come away with little to no effort. The dark and hazy view the magical mask provided was swapped with the bright natural light. It took a moment for his deep red eyes to adjust.
"How does it feel to finally take it off?"
He smiled, he could truly smile to the world. He wanted to laugh with joy.
"It feels great!"
Regis looked back at Freya, who was still walking away probably back to her room in the back. However, their business had yet to be concluded.
"Is something wrong?"
Freya shook her head but didn't turn around.
"I don't see anything of interest… I hoped you would provide me with someone special!"
Regis looked at Void and smiled.
"Ohh believe me I'm sure a second look might change your mind?"
She stopped briefly sighing.
'This isn't worth my time!'
However, she reluctantly turned around, her eyes glowing a faint purple as she looked back at the white-haired man. Her eyes widened almost instantly. She looked at his soul, a mixture of golden red. Like a brilliant flame burning bright. Her smile only grew as she looked him over again.
"Ohhh Yes… I'm glad you put on this little surprise. I have many many questions… But I think I'll have to ask them another time."
She pointed her hand to the newly freed face of Void and wagged her finger at him motioning him to come closer. He did so slowly walking over to her. She placed a hand on his face. He blushed instantly the moment her skin touched his. It had been the first time in a year since anything other then the mask had touched his face.
"I look forward to spending the night with you… I have so many questions and who knows…"
She leaned closer to him.
"Perhaps you might share my bed tonight."
His entire body blushed a deep red as he felt his heart nearly burst with joy. His brain was filled with naughty thoughts as he saw himself holding the naked goddess. He gulped and nodded with a massive grin on his face.
"Void, from now on you can act freely, well as freely as she lets you that is. Please don't break him lady Freya, I do still need him. Have fun…"
It was growing late, the hostess had become packed with guests but a small section had been cordoned off by special request of Hestia. At first, Mia was hesitant or rather unwilling to corner off a section but after some persuasion and guarantees from Hermes she allowed it.
"Where is everyone…? I'm losing potential customers for this!"
Syr came skipping around the corner, her mood had improved greatly since that morning, she held the tray behind her back as she looked around.
"Are they not here yet? I at least thought Bell or Hestia would have come back by now..."
'I bet he's still fooling about with that hussy!'
She sighed and looked over at the main bar. She spied a stranger at the bar, she wore a long black cloak which covered her from the neck down. Her long purple hair stood out against the browns and yellows of the Hostess. She shifted closer to Mia.
"Who's she?"
Mia turned to the grey-haired girl with a cautionary look.
"They're a customer, unlike you, I don't need to know everything about everyone. So long as they pay the bill at the end they can be as quiet or as talkative as they want?"
The girl nodded but her curiosity had yet to be satisfied, so she instead took a direct approach making her way over to her side.
"Hello, I've never seen you here before."
The girl didn't even react to Syr's attempt of a conversation, she simply took another sip of her drink and continued to look at the wall. It should have been a good enough clue that she didn't want to talk but that didn't mean anything to the chipper girl.
"Are you perhaps waiting for someone? If you like I can keep an eye out for them?"
This got her a look and a sigh from the stranger.
"Do you know a boy named Bell Cranel?"
'She's looking for Bell?'
"Ohh you're an acquaintance of Bell's, yes I know him, he frequently stops by, he should be back soon. I'll inform him your waiting for him. What's your name?"
"Luna…"
"Got a last name?"
Luna shook her head a sad expression as she took another sip.
"What business do you have with Bell?"
'Can't this girl see when someone wants to be left alone!'
"You ask a lot of questions?"
Syr didn't change her expression and nodded.
"But of course I'm just looking out for him after all, I want to make sure your intentions are honourable."
The two didn't budge an inch, the silence set in on both sides, Syr's constant smile was finally working its charm on the girl.
"I suppose forgive me, I only recently met him but he made quite the impression I just want to ask him a favour is all…"
Syr was good at reading people, normally people would shift or twitch when telling a lie but it was all in their eyes, she knew just by looking into the girls violet eyes she was telling the truth. Happy that the girl posed no threat to Bell, she skipped off to greet a new arrival.
"Ohh welcome back Goddess, I hope your business went well."
She spotted Hestia and her small group. Which included Welf and Lili who were regulars and surprisingly Mikoto of the Takemikazuchi Familia was with them.
"Ohh Syr, Is Bell back yet?"
She shook her head.
"No, I'm afraid not… But I'll be sure to let you know when he arrives. If you would follow me to your table."
They followed behind, from time to time they got the odd glance from the patrons but it wasn't a bother to them. It was obvious why they were watching them. The wargame. They were shown into a cornered off space in the tavern. They weren't free from onlookers but they were out of earshot which was better than nothing.
"As requested and rooms have been made available of course. Hermes is paying the costs so don't worry about anything… If you'll excuse me."
They watched as the girl walked away to deal with other customers, Welf stretched his arms out and rested back in his chair. He looked over at Mikoto, he was surprised to see her with them but he was glad for her help. When Hestia came to make the change she was with them…
"Well, it's not much but I really must thank all of you!"
Hestia started to tear up when Hermes said that he had made arrangements with some of the gods he wasn't joking. However, at the end of the day, it was their decision to leave their Familia's for Bell's sake but neither one hesitated. Even Mikoto who barely had any interaction with Bell other than when they went to save them, threw herself at her feet.
"We all owe Bell so much… We wouldn't think about letting him face the wolves alone. After all, he needs a smith to keep his gear prepared and ready for anything."
"Lili agrees as well, Master Bell helped me in my time of need. I will do the same for him without hesitation. What kind of support would I be if I couldn't do that!"
Hestia smiled. She was thankful Bell had friends like them at his back. But the bond they shared spanned far than mere respect. No, they were willing to throw themselves at any enemy if it meant they could protect one another.
"I...I might be new to this Familia… I-I now I haven't made the best first impression. I'm sorry for what I did but I owe him a life debt and I will repay it!"
Welf let out a hearty laugh.
"You didn't hesitate to throw yourself into the viper pit with us… As far as I'm concerned you repaid in full and I doubt Bell would ever hold it against you… After all, that's not the kind of guy he is…"
Both Lili and Hestia nodded.
"So this is it… The Hestia Familia… Well kind of, there are two others you need to meet."
Lili was confused by the goddess's remark. She knew Bell was still to arrive but who was this other mysterious member. She looked to Welf for answers, he noticed this.
"Ohh yeah that's right you haven't met her yet. By the way Hestia does Mikoto know?"
"Yes, she does."
She was happy to see that Takemikazuchi had spoken to her about Artemis, she swore to keep what happened secret but she didn't know the girl so it wasn't hard to lie to her.
"Why doesn't anyone tell Lili anything!"
"Just forgot to mention it…Don't worry you'll get to meet her soon enough."
'Her? So we have another female… I hope she's friendly.'
"Master Welf, have you meet her yet?"
He nodded
"Yeah, twice now, she's nice I'm sure you'll get along with her."
Hestia looked at him, her wishful gaze was shared by both of them, but Lili's jealousy was sometimes unpredictable.
"U-Umm excuse me."
The new Familia turned around to see a mid-size girl standing before them, Her appearance was strange due to her wearing a cloak. Which stood out in contrast to her dark purple hair. Her violet eyes looked at each one of them meeting there gaze.
"I-Is this the Hestia F-Familia…?"
She rubbed her arm as she looked to the ground, her shy nature was showing and it was hard to look at them all. Hestia smiled and nodded.
"Yes it is, what can we do for you?"
She could see the girl wasn't going to cause trouble and her appearance and question showed she had been looking for them. Hestia worked out she wasn't from Orario but that didn't mean she was going to turn her away.
"O-ohh well Ummm… I…"
She nodded to herself and threw her hands down to her side. Her face filled with determination.
"I wish to join your Familia!"
The group went silent, it took a moment to let it sink in but when it did, none of them could believe it. Hestia let a small cough to break the silence as she looked up to the girl.
"Umm can you repeat that again please?"
She nodded.
"I wish to join your Familia… Is there a problem with that?"
'Yeah, that's what I thought you said…'
The disbelief was on all their faces, it was out of nowhere at first they didn't know if it was just a joke, but as the girl became worried with the silence it became obvious she wasn't.
"N-no it's just… Do you know what's going on?"
"Y-yes you're currently in the middle of preparing for a wargame… I...I just."
Welf stood up and smiled.
"You're here to help? I don't think any ones gonna turn that down. What's your name?"
His response calmed her as she smiled at them all.
"Luna..my names Luna."
Hestia was confused but she wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth.
"Thank you, you might have come at the wrong time but you have my thanks… Please join us."
Luna could have jumped with joy but didn't want to make a bad impression, instead, she made her way over to one of the spare chairs and sat down. They all introduced themselves and made her feel comfortable the night started to set in and the big question on everyone's lips was where Bell was.
"Seriously where are those two? He said they were going into the dungeons but it should only be on the first floor…"
Lili seemed annoyed at first mainly due to the thought of Bell being alone with some random girl. But it was clear that something wasn't right.
"S-should we go looking for them? We don't know what Apollo would try…"
Hestia shook her head.
"They'll be fine, I'm sure he's just getting her used to it… After all, she's still getting used to this…"
"Who even is she anyways…? Why would she need more time to adapt? Everyone seems to know but Lili!"
Welf looked to Mikoto and she looked to Hestia. They all, in turn, looked to Lili… Hestia cleared her throat.
"Well, she's a friend of mine… Or to be more precise she's my best friend…"
'I don't remember her having that many friends certainly not one that could be call besties…'
"Well, your gonna find out sooner or later… She is a goddess of heaven Artemis…"
Lili's mouth hit the floor, and it remained there as she tried to contemplate the idea. She tried to keep her voice down as she asked questions.
"Wait what? Why is a goddess in the dungeons? Why is she with Bell? What the hell is going on?"
"S-sorry to bother you but Bell has just arrived."
They looked over at Ryu who spoke up from the corner, everyone turned to see him enter. However, their eyes were focused on what he was carrying in. Almost everyone bar Lili knew what it was or more specifically who. The blue hair gave it away. Meanwhile, Lili shot to her feet.
"W-WAIT MASTER BELL! YOU CHEATER!"
"Huh…"
He thought his name was being called out but the loud talking from the nearby patrons made it hard to tell. He quickly saw Syr who waved to him with a smile but she seemed to disappear when she looked down. He then noticed Hestia and the rest…
"Guess we've missed something…"
He looked down at the semi sleeping girl in his arms. He thought semi, he noticed her looking up at him once or twice… He didn't mind when she wasn't looking he'd taken the time to look at her as well. She refused to let go even after they arrived at the steps of the hostess. He didn't mind.
His plan was to take her upstairs to rest anyways. However, he wasn't expecting such a crowd to be waiting.
'Ughh I just want to go to sleep…'
With little choice as he was starting to get more than a few odd looks. He leaned closer to her and shook her a little.
"Come on Hestia is waiting for us…"
"...Comfy…"
He felt bad for her and for himself. She was really warm and he didn't really want her to let go. But his body grew tired and he wanted to get this over quickly.
'Ughh why me…'
"We'll continue this later, Now come on you need to let go… Please."
She sighed into his chest, her warm breath pierced through to his body. He shivered with joy but was met with two big green eyes… A light blush on her face as she leaned closer. He wasn't expecting a kiss on the cheek. In fact nobody was!
'D-did she just… DID SHE JUST KISS BELL!'
Lili gripped the table as Welf covered her mouth before she could shout. Hestia sighed and looked at the two of them. She waved Bell to the stairs. She didn't have time to listen to Lili arguing. Bell noticed and thought for a moment.
'I-Is she telling me not to bother?'
Hestia sighed as he came closer and made her way over to him. His confused face let her know all she needs to. He looked behind her to the group sat down looking at him.
"What's going on?"
His goddess smiled and shook her head.
"For now don't worry about it... We'll have plenty of time tomorrow to discuss it… I'm guessing she's worn out?"
He looked down and she had already closed her eyes. Faking it of course but he couldn't blame her…
"Y-yeah it's been a busy day…"
Hestia turned to look at Lili who was still fighting to regain her ability to speak. Welf had her mouth covered to muffle her angry comments. Hestia didn't want a fight to break out so she moved closer to his ear.
"You both look tired. Go on get some sleep you're gonna need it."
He nodded and was about to walk away but Hestia grabbed his arm pulling him back.
"Ohh and don't think I haven't noticed Artemis's disappearance last night… I know she was with you!"
He gulped as he realised that she was supposed to be spending the night in Hestia's room, but worse still she was aware of it! He didn't know what to say but all she did was shake her head.
"I won't stop her… After all, it's obvious she likes being close to you. But don't go trying anything… She's still my friend!"
Bell gulped and nodded turning for the stairs while she turned back to deal with the little firework that had just gone off. She waited for the two of them to disappear before she let Welf unhand her.
"WHAT WAS THAT!"
Hestia shrugged.
"She was just being friendly… Look just because she kissed his cheek doesn't mean anything."
Lili started stamping her feet.
"She was cuddled up to him like a newborn baby, Why doesn't he hold me like that?!"
Hestia shrugged.
"Maybe because he doesn't want to, perhaps she collapsed and hurt her foot or maybe it's just what Bell does… Now shut up and deal with it!"
Lili was about to return her response but saw the many looks she was getting she sighed and nodded sitting back down.
'It's no fair! I already don't like her!'
"Well we can continue this meeting tomorrow… For now, let's just relax and celebrate!"
Hestia grabbed a glass and raised it high into the air, getting a similar reaction of cheers from the group. While Lili just did it to keep up appearances.
With her warning to Bell made clear he quickly fled to the stairs. A deep blush on his face, but he soon noticed a small smile and large blush on Artemis's face, she had been obviously listening to the conversation. Seconds later they were next to Artemis and Hestia's room but he didn't even bother to ask. Instead of carrying her into his own and shutting the door. Once they were inside she loosened her hold and allowed herself to be placed onto the bed. She quickly spread her arms out and sank back into the soft mattress.
"Hmmm, this is nice…"
She looked up at Bell and smiled, grabbing his arm and pulling him down onto her. He had a heavy blush as his face turned a deep red. It was for the briefest of seconds but she eased up and allowed him to move.
"But not as nice as a moment ago"
He was about to move off but instead went with his instincts. His smile only grew as he knelt over her, she moved over a little to allow him to lay next to her. He happily obliged laying down beside her and instantly wrapping an arm around her.
"Sorry I hope you don't mind…"
She giggled.
"If I didn't you'd know… Now let me have a few… *Yawn*... Minutes.'
He watched her curled up next to him as she closed her eyes. A smile on his face as he fought to keep his own eyes open. The warmth from her body was so inviting compared to the bitterly cold room. He closed his eyes and allowed himself to sink into the softness of the pillow. As he did he let out a loud yawn. For the next few minutes, he embraced the warm girl while staring at the darkness. The silence set in… It was blissful.
"Mmmm Bell…"
She turned over while still in his arms, her face was mere inches from his. His heart started beating rapidly and the faint emerald glow from her eyes, however, moved over his body.
"I can feel it… Your heart beating rapidly… So is mine."
She grabbed his hand off of her side and moved it close to her chest. He found himself in a very dangerous position, being just below her breast which he found so tempting to squeeze.
'No, ignore it Bell, remember what the goddess said! I need to control my thoughts… Need to control myself!'
"Can you feel it Bell?"
She placed her hand atop his and pushed down. He felt it the heavy rhythm of her heartbeat, it grew faster and faster. She smiled squeezing his hand.
"I love it when you touch me… Hold me… and I…"
She moved so her nose was rubbing against his, it was oddly familiar to that morning. However, there weren't any distractions this time. He enjoyed the sensation and pushed himself forward...
"Bell I think I... Love you!"
That was it, he pushed his lips forward and met her own. He closed his eyes and tried to savour it. Their kiss seemed to fade away just as the darkness set in…

Hmm, what's that A new year, new chapter and love is in the air. Yes as a new years treat I decided to bend the story to allow an early kiss. You've all been asking for it so savour it... We have a wargame coming up after all. Mehahahaha... *Cough cough* Anyways this was supposed to be out yesterday however due to some minor errors I had to delay it but it's here now so I hope you enjoy it.
But my question to you all is how is this mysterious man Void? I've had a few good guesses but I'd like to hear your thoughts... How knows perhaps the next chapter you'll find out...

We'll soon be reaching the 2-year mark and probably the 50th chapter I wonder what I'll have in store for you all.
