'Huh?'
Something was off, and he couldn't pin-point it. Was it the kiss? Why was he thinking this now? He pulled back and thought. Part of him wanted this. He wanted to indulge in her. In contrast, the other thoughts were mixed emotions relating to a certain golden-haired sword princess. But that had always been the case… No, there was something else. Something lacking!
He tried to focus on her lips as he pushed his own into them, but it was like he hadn't at all, instead it remained the same no matter how hard he pressed against them. A sinking feeling came over him as even the steady heartbeat disappeared. He reached up to touch her face but was met with nothing. No sensation in his hand, even her silky blue hair didn't provide anything. He pulled back and opened his eyes only to be met with darkness.
'DAMN IT!'
His eyes shot open, and he was staring at the ceiling. His heart sank even more as he realised it was all a dream! A concoction of needs and wants used by his brain to tease him. The bitter cold of his room crept upon him as if it was taunting him. But all in all, he was confused.
'I-Is that what I wanted… Or am I just overthinking this?'
He felt the warmth of another beside him. It had been clear that his dream had created a situation born from his feelings for her, but they were just false hopes. However, seeing she was still sleeping beside him filled him with joy. He could feel her, embrace her and gather up all the warmth for himself. However, his smile soon faded and with a heavy sigh, he pulled himself away. With great care not to wake her he moved to the edge of his bed and sat on the edge. He held his head in his hands as he tried to come to terms with his feelings.
'What do I feel for this girl… For Aiz it started as admiration, and before I knew it I wanted to stand next to her… Be with her…'
He looked back. The Goddess turned adventure slept silently under the covers, her soft breathing was barely noticeable, but it was there. The faint moonlight pierced through the cracks in the curtains illuminating her. It only served to enhance her beauty, something he thought impossible.
'I know you said just to embrace it and go with the flow... But I don't know any more. I just feel regret afterwards! I can't get the fact she's a goddess out my head! I always think of her and Aiz… How am I supposed to know what to feel?'
He might have well have been talking to the shadows for all the good it did him. His grandfather tried to get him to relax on the matter, but how could he, he had a wargame to worry about the future of his Familia and yet all he could think about was two girls!
'I admitted I liked her just as I like Aiz… But all that's done is made this more difficult!'
He got to his feet and walked over to the small wash bowl sitting on a nearby dresser. The water was bitterly cold yet refreshing as he splashed it on his face a few times. He looked into the mirror and took a few deep breaths before drying himself off. Having looked over at the bed, he chose not to return, instead choosing to pull out the chair tucked under the dresser. He dropped into it, placing his arms on the dresser's side, resting his head in his hands.
Surrounded by silence, all he could focus on was the fire burning inside him. It started to spread slowly through him. It was annoying, all it served to do was remind him of his weakness.
'Guess this is what I get for listening to that old coot. Still guess I'm responsible for some of that blame…'
The memories of the past week started to flood back in. The hunting trip, their uncontrollable sexual actions when they returned… Every kiss she planted on his cheek and everyone he returned in full. His heart raced as his body grew more restless. This was becoming a problem, and it wasn't a small one ever…
'Should I talk to goddess about it? NO, she'd freak out! Lili is out the question… Welf, yeah Welf could help but…'
He groaned, remembering that getting any time alone with the man was near impossible with Lili nearby. He tried to think up some excuse. He could just say he wants a private chat but it was never that simple…
'Maybe I need to spend some time away from her… I need to start focusing on training any ways…'
He closed his eyes for the briefest of moments. But for the briefest of moments, he felt the very air draw to the coldest he had ever felt and a voice called out to him from the shadows.
*Finally understanding your weakness now hmmm?*
He didn't need to look back. He could tell no one was there.
'I'm just imagine this… I!'
*Ughh how many times have you thought that and been wrong Bell. How many times have you tried to deny my presence!*
It continued, but Bell remained firm on his assumption, and he wasn't about to let it get the better of him.
"I don't know why I imagine you but you can go back inside my head I don't have…"
*Ohh but you do know why! From the moment you got involved with that girl I've been inside your head. I'm the part of you that remembers everything but can't tell you!*
The voice was starting to taunt him but he wasn't going to give it fuel so he ignored it instead. He tried to focus on other thoughts to clear his head, but it persisted all the same.
*Fool, I'm a part of you! The part that wants to see you get stronger and achieve our goal! All that girl has done is managed to weaken you. Distract you and in the end be your downfall!*
"Bell?"
A soft feminine voice called out to him. It was Artemis. Looking over at him, he didn't need to turn his head. He saw her reflection in the mirror. Her confused look combined with her sleepy eyes made for an adorable mixture, but he didn't need it right now.
"Are you alright?"
She asked, his back still turned to her. He only nodded, but that didn't give her any relief, she noticed the down look on his face from his reflection. He was troubled, but he didn't want her to worry about it. She lowered her head and moved closer to the edge of the bed. However, before she could put one foot on the floor, Bell spoke up.
"You should go back to sleep… Like Goddess said we've got a busy day tomorrow…"
His voice wasn't his cheerful of optimistic self. No, it seemed almost disappointed and worn-out for some reason. It made her heart sink. However, she resolved herself to help him even just a little. Her right foot touched the floor, and she heard a faint tut from Bell…
'What! Am I not allowed to get up now!'
This annoyed her mainly because she didn't think she was doing anything wrong, but it was clear that Bell didn't want to have anything to do with her at that moment. But she swallowed her annoyance and slowly walked over to him. Now he just sighed loudly.
"Artemis… Please j-just go back to bed."
She knew he was looking at her reflection in the mirror, how else would he now were she was.
"No!"
There it was the defiant goddess finally coming out of her shell. How many time had he been warned not to tell her what to do. He could hear the tone change in her voice. She angrily stared at him through the mirror.
"Please…I…"
She didn't give him a chance to speak as she pushed herself back in.
"Bell I only want to help you. You can talk to me?"
He shook his head with dismay.
"I don't need any help I just need to… To be left alone."
He was calm, his words and tone made it clear he didn't have it in him to argue with her. However, even that wasn't off the table! He was starting to become emotionally unrested, and it was causing him to get worked up more and more.
"Is it about the wargame? If soo then."
"..."
He shook his head.
"It's nothing you should worry about okay."
He tried a different approach, but it only served to get her spur her on more. She stood in the darkroom with only the moonlight to illuminate her presence. But he could see it. The upset look in her eyes.
"Bell… I am worried, I'm concerned about you. You have to put up with so much this past few weeks. I just want to…"
"Help me? As I said, I don't need helping!"
A small part of her was annoyed at him now. Her she was trying to be kind to him and he wasn't even opening up a little. Instead, he avoided even looking at her while trying to make his point.
"What's wrong with that! What's wrong with me being worried for you?!"
She had enough of trying to get through to him calmly. Obviously, she had to be harder with him if she wanted him to talk about his issues. She waited for Bell response.
"Nothing. Nothing at All… But I don't want you to help me. I just want to be left alone."
She clenched her fist, causing her bones to crack.
"What good will that do!"
She shouted. She hadn't wanted to, but it was just a build-up of frustration in that moment. Her heart sank as she watched him get to his feet. His hands were clenching the side, but she saw him turn his head. What came next had shaken her to her core.
"I DON'T KNOW! BUT YOUR NOT HELPING!"
She took a step back and her heart sank the instant she heard him shout. She had seen him angry but she had become so used to his friendly and caring tone that she was left speechless.
'B-Bell…'
However, Bell wasn't done in fact it was like a plate had just shattered, and he couldn't stop.
"I can't concentrate, I have a thousand and one thoughts swirling inside my head… My Familia, this wargame, Aiz and you!"
A tear escaped her eyes. It was like she was looking at a completely different person. His face was all tensed up from his anger, and it was directed solely at her. She tried to open her mouth but found herself cut off before she could say anything.
"J-JUST GO! LEAVE!"
For the first time, she felt her heart crack a wave of emotion overcame her. Tears weld up in her eyes. But she tried to hold them back, but it was no use. She broke down into tears.
"I-I…" "I ONLY WANTED YOU TO OPEN UP TO ME!"
*SLAP!*
Without thinking, her hand flew against his cheeks. Leaving a large red mark on his face. Bell was in disbelief as he raised his hand to his cheek, his mouth agape. It had momentarily snapped him out his anger and allowed him to see the crying girl before him.
"A-Artemis…"
He had utterly snapped out of his anger and realised exactly what he had done. His eyes widened as he watched her take a step back. He realised what he had said and tried to fix it. However the damage had already been done
.
"I-IF YOU WANT TO BE ALONE. T-THEN FINE!"
She turned for the door and quickly ran to it her feet carrying her like the wind.
"Artemis wait I…"
Bell reached out to stop her, but he was too late. The door quickly slammed behind her, and the whole room seemed to shake. He remained frozen in place for a moment and dropped to his knees. He had gotten what he asked for but at what cost?
"DAMN IT!"
He punched the floor, leaving a very noticeable dent in the wood. However, he didn't stop he continued to hit it repeatedly until his hand was shaking and bleeding. He held it to his chest and cried.
"Why Why did I do that! Why did I make her cry!"
The pain in his hand was nothing compared to the pain in his heart and it was probably a light sting compared to what Artemis was feeling. He felt like the scum of the earth. He promised to protect that smile of hers and never see her cry.
"What kind of hero am I… If I can't keep my own promise! What kind of person am I for making the one I care about cry!"
'I'm sorry… I'm so sorry… I didn't…'
It was no good now. No doubt the damage had been done, he knew he should go and apologise, but he felt sick to his stomach, and she probably wouldn't talk to him now anyway.
'First thing tomorrow I'll apologise…'
That was his plan at least but he knew deep down that was the least of his issues… He walked up to the door and opened it. He peered out into the corridor only to find it empty… A small part hoped she was waiting outside…
"Goddess is going to find out… Ugh why did I have to shout… I didn't want to upset her!"
He was getting angry with himself, and why shouldn't he. She hadn't done anything wrong, she was just worried for him… He pushed her away out of confusion for his feelings but that wasn't enough reason to get angry with her…
'She probably hates me…'
As the night grew older the new members of the Hestia got to know one another better. Luna and Lili were getting along well, she had taken an interest in the strange girl. While she wasn't yet a member in the Familia she had made it clear that she had no issues with her joining. After that they started discussing the shopping areas because Luna was not from around the area and had come looking to join a Familia…
"Bell does have a certain way with people… To think he unknowingly inspired someone to join his Familia…"
Mikoto and Hestia nodded… Mikoto hadn't had much interaction with Bell but she could tell by the way those around him acted he was a fine leader. But also a gentle soul, the fact he was willing to forgive her so quickly even after her unforgivable actions proved that.
"I can see why you enjoy his company so much… I look forward to seeing him in action more… By the way have you deduced what type of wargame its going to be?"
Everyone bar Luna taken not she was still new to the idea of a wargame but she did listen all the same.
"No not yet. My guess is they'll start ever tomorrow or the day after… Apollo isn't known for taking things slow, tomorrow we'll discuss it in further detail."
Hestia got to her feet and let a loud yawn as she stretched her arms above her head...
"Ugh well I think its time for bed for me… You lot enjoy yourselves, oh and Luna tomorrow I'll give you your falna… I'm sorry you had to join at such a rough time…"
Luna shook her head.
"Noo It's fine, I'm actually quiet happy you accepted me so openly… Most Familia's just turned me away…"
'She's just like when I meet Bell for the first time… I'm sure he'll accept her all the same.'
She smiled and nodded.
"I'm sorry Bell couldn't be here… He's been busy with a friend of mine…"
She looked at Lili how scoffed at the comment.
"Yeah… She was definitely keeping him busy!"
"Do you have a problem Lili?"
The pallum still hadn't dropped the fact Artemis kissed Bell even after her mood improved. She knew she wasn't going to take kindly to her, but that would come with time…
"I'm sure she was just being friendly with him… Besides what are you worried about?"
Lili sank into her chair and said something, however nobody heard it… With nothing else to say Hestia bid them all a fair well. Luckily rooms had been assigned for them so they needn't travel so they'd all be here in the morning…
'Ugh I'm gonna have to owe Hermes a huge favour after this is all over…'
She slowly made her way upstairs and towards her room but to her surprise she found the door was locked…
'Hmm that's strange? I don't remember locking it…"
She went to pull out her key however it was then she noticed it. The faint cries of a girl… At first she thought she was hallucinating but as she placed her ear to the door it became much louder…
"Hello…"
She knocked waiting for an answer hopefully she could guess how it is…
"GO AWAY!"
The voice was unmistakably Artemis… But that left a terrible thought in her head.
'W-why is she crying?!'
"Artemis it's me, what's wrong… I can help just let me in."
Hestia called out to her long time friend, but there was no response from her just cries which only got louder. She placed the key in the door and unlocked it. She slowly entered peeking her head in first. It was heartbreaking to see her friend crying but the question in the back of her head was… Why?
'She was with Bell… Why what happened from then and no…'
"What did he do!"
She whispered angrily to herself. She didn't want to believe Bell was involved in some way… It was Bell after all he didn't have a mean bone in his body…
"H-hey… What's up"
She moved slowly… This wasn't her being angry, something she had to deal with so often, no she was upset… This was rare even for her, she couldn't remember the last time she saw her crying. Always the calm and confident person that never allowed anything to upset her.
"H-Hestia…"
"Yeah its me…"
She took another step forward. Artemis had her face embedded into the pillow, but she could just make out the faint emerald glow from her eyes… It was brief but it soon disappeared as she turned head back. When Hestia finally got next to her and sat on the bed she tensed up.
"Hey hey its okay, its okay."
She placed a hand on her shoulder and gave it a light rub. It was something Artemis did for her when she was down which had been numerous times… She could hear Artemis slowly calming down even if it was only a little. Once her cries subsided she brought her friend into a tight hug.
"It's okay take your time."
Artemis didn't speak but she did give her a little nod if only to let her know she was listening. It may have been for the briefest of moments but having her friend with her eased the pain lightly however!
'How do I even explain this to h-her?'
She pulled back and wiped the remnants of her tears from her eyes.
'I-I need to be strong e-even if I-it hurts!'
Flashback
Her feet just managed to carry her back to the room, but the moment she slammed the door shut she collapsed to the floor. Her heart was aching so much and her body gave out as her emotions took control. She had never felt such pain before even the strike from a Minotaur didn't hurt this much.
"I-I jus…."
She couldn't finish the sentence… No matter what she did it always came back to Bell and that just made it work. To see him so worked up and…
"Why!"
"WHY DID I HAVE TO LET MY GUARD DOWN!"
That's what hurt the most… She had finally come to accept a man, accept the idea of love… But he wouldn't even open up to her and he just pushed her away… She clenched her fist in anger but that only turned to more sadness…
After awhile she went to the bed and smashed her face into the pillow hoping that her body would grow tired and give out. But that didn't stop her from thinking of Bell, all she could think about was his childish smile, a sight that would normally warmed her heart now like ash in her mouth.
When she heard the knock at the door her heart dropped again thinking it was Bell… No hoping it was Bell, but it wasn't instead it was Hestia, her reaction worried her friend how entered the room.
Flashback ends
"I-I'm sorry."
Her head dropped as she was unable to look at her friends face, the thought of explaining what happened scared her but she knew she owed it to her.
"Why are you apologizing? Your obviously the one in pain here."
Artemis sniffed and shook her head as she tired to continue.
"I-I-I…"
Her inability to speak was due to her getting worked up again, she couldn't think, and when she could she forgot to breath… Hestia reassured her it was okay and waited for her breathing to settle first…
"I made everything worse!"
'Made what worse… What the hell happened?'
Not only was she not making sense she still had no idea why Bell was not here to comfort her, but then again she might have just got the answer to all her questions…
"Bell! What did he do?!"
She shook her head…
"It's not like that he… He…"
"He made you cry that's nothing Artemis! What happened, I can't help if you don't tell me…"
'...'
Her inability to speak didn't help the situation in fact it only served to infuriate Hestia… She didn't want it to be true, It was Bell after all she never saw him angry except after her death but that's not even a factor any more… She got to her feet shocking Artemis.
"H-Hestia w-what are y…"
She turned to her, a calm look on her face but a fire in her eyes.
"I'm gonna knock some sense into my child and find out what happened!"
Before she could even take a step toward the door, a hand latched onto her arm, she spun around to see Artemis holding her back, her face filled with confusion for her friends actions.
"W-why I thought he…"
Their eyes meet and pierced her, It told her not to go, it begged her to stay.
'Artemis…'
"I-Its my own fault!..."
She dropped her hand and began crying again…
"It's my own fault for wanting to know him better… It was my own fault believing there was more there!"
"A-Artemis you don't mean…"
The tears couldn't be held back much longer, she was doing everything in her power to not breakdown then and there…
"I feel for him Hestia… I just wanted to know him better… But H-he just continued to save me. Help me, make me feel things I never felt before."
'I don't believe it… I mean I can but not this fast!'
"I fell in love! I fell in love with Bell! My heart aches for him even now. But I know deep down he doesn't feel the same…"
Considering this was her friend she knew that she wasn't joking…
"I… don't understand? I just wanted… I just wanted to talk to him!"
She was about to break down into tears again but she wouldn't allow herself to she gripped the bed as she forced her tears back in.
"What happened?"
Seeing her friend trying so hard to get her feelings out was tear-jerking but without knowing what happened she couldn't help… she pulled her into a hug and comforted her a little.
"Don't be mad at Bell… I know he's got a lot on his plate."
"I'll decide on that, so what happened?"
She lowered her head and wiped the small tear of her cheek.
"I-I woke up and found him sitting by himself… He looked conflicted about something, so I thought he might want to talk about it."
'What could he be conflicted about?'
"When I tried to reach out h-he just wanted to be left alone… I got upset and started shouting, before I knew it he had gotten so worked up…"
She let out a heavy sigh.
"He snapped… I was left so shocked I lashed out! It was a mistake a stupid mistake but…"
Hestia held her tighter and nodded stopping her.
'I think I understand now.'
"It's strange to think Bell would be so upset over nothing. But also I can't believe he got angry he's always so kind and patient?"
"I don't want him to hate me! I don't want to lose him!"
Hestia nodded understanding her friends dilemma.
"To think you of all people would fall in love and openly admit it… Its more unbelievable then Bell being upset with you!"
She flicked her head and gave a little smile.
"If you really love him you'd know he would never hold a grudge. He takes everything and puts it on his shoulders. I don't have to see him. I know he regrets what he's done, if he doesn't that's not my Bell."
Artemis looked down but listened to her friend all the same. She was right, even when he did something that was okay he'd try to apologise. To think he'd be angry at her was a stupid thought. One filled with new emotions and worries.
'He's so kind, inspiring confidence and joy into everyone. He's strong and knowledgeable I loved to watch him…'
"You said you knew he wouldn't return the same feelings?"
She nodded. The very thought was like ash in her mouth. It hurt, hurt to think him with someone else… But then Aiz was always one step ahead in his life!
"He loves Aiz… You said so yourself didn't you? I was a fool for ever thinking other.. Oww!"
Hestia chopped her for head. The look on her face was annoyance and disapproval. But it all became clear as she opened her mouth.
"Idiot… This is what hiding from love got you. Yes, Bell loves Aiz I always hated that look in his eye when he talked about her!"
She leaned back onto the wall.
"Bell cares about you. He wants to protect you no matter what, and he showed that when he saved you after all. Willing to go to war with another Familia, and not regretting it at any point."
Artemis held her hand to her heart. It was beating slowly but it was a clear sign her friend was right.
"He loves you in his own way. It might not be the love you want but that doesn't mean it's not there."
For the first time in the last few hours she let a small smile out. This was what she needed. Her friend to reconfirm what she already knew. She leaned in and hugged a second time.
"Thank you Hestia."
"Hey it's what friends are for. Though I'm used to it being the other way."
They both laughed and Artemis got back to her semi stable self.
"I was an idiot for not seeing it! Just as I was for…"
"If your next words are falling in love ill hit you again! Ugh I'm gonna sound like Aphrodite but love is a wonderful thing. Never regret it!"
She nodded, and Hestia smiled and whispered into her ear.
"Besides if anyone has a chance at beating her it's you."
Artemis blushed. Her friend's words of encouragement went straight to her heart. Her faith renewed.
"B-but!"
Hestia placed a finger on the girls lips and grinned.
"No buts. Your beautiful, kind and courageous everything that she is. Besides Bell lets you regularly sleep with him.. I'm kind of jealous actually!"
Artemis was know completely red with embarrassment. To have her friend talk about such things was embarrassing but her praise was going straight to her head and filling her with hope.
"Bell likes you, that much is obvious. You love him, that's clear. Now that you know it I can help!"
She pulled her fist into the air.
"Now I know? You make it seem like I…"
"Oh come on after the first week you were giving him the eyes I'd have given him. I knew you had feelings for him. I was just waiting for you to admit it."
She was shocked but then she remembered something.
"S-so… All those times you! You were!"
Despite her cutting herself off Hestia knew what she was on about.
"I may have… Oh come on you wanted to be alone with him! I didn't want to get in your way."
The back and forth continued for a short while until Artemis let out a small yawn.
*Yawn*
"Ugh guess I need some sleep after all."
"You sure you'll be able to sleep without Bell?"
She blushed.
"Y-yeah…"
She smiled.
"Good, well let's head to bed… after all you've got a day of training tomorrow. Ohh and I should warn you you're not gonna be seeing Bell at all."
Artemis shot up her eyes like a puppy that watched a toy being binned.
"W-why!"
Hestia sighed.
"Bell needs some time to think and train… Believe me the last thing he needs is to be worrying about you! Besides if my theory is correct and it normally is, he'll be itching to apologise. However he needs to know exactly what it is he'll lose."
"W-What do you mean?"
"I'll explain in the morning for now get some sleep. "
She nodded and put her head down. The night had gone from great to shitty to nothing at all. The cold air reminded her how lonely it was in her bed. She closed her eyes and imagined Bell holding her. What she didn't know was Bell was having the exact same thought.
Next morning was a blur of activity, it didn't matter if it was the hostess staff or the Hestia Familia both were getting ready for a long day ahead of them. Everyone except two!
Bell and Artemis were nowhere to be found though the big breasted goddess seemed to know what was going on but she remained tight lipped. That morning's breakfast was comparably different from the previous day. The Loki Familia had left the day before, apparently they found a nice little place near the market area and close to the guild hall. Hestia was happy as it was one less distraction for Bell… Or so she thought!
'Why in all the gods' names is she here!'
Aiz had turned up early that morning and not said anything, instead she sat quietly at the bar. It was obvious she was waiting for something or someone to come down. Syr's mention of Bell's name seemed to peak her interest if only briefly. Her eyes would light up and slowly return to their stoic gaze.
Besides her the rest of the Hestia Familia sat patiently waiting for the last two members to join them. Lili was tapping the table while gazing at the stairwell. With a large sigh she shot up.
"UGH where are those two! Master Bell never sleeps in this late!"
Lili looked to Hestia for answers but even she could only shrug.
"I don't know…"
'I hope he's not beating himself up. Still perhaps I should go see him…'
Just as the thought entered her head a voice called out from the stairwell.
"Ohh good morning mister Cranel."
It was Ryu and everyone turned their heads to see Bell slowly walking down the stairs. They couldn't see his face but they could tell from his movements that he wasn't himself. Even Ryu seemed to notice this but didn't say anything as he lifted his hand a little to say hello.
"Bell…"
'I knew it he's been up all night… Perhaps it was a bad idea to not fix this last night!'
Bell entered the main area and looked around. He seemed to all but blank out everyone staring at him. He didn't even take a second look at Aiz which was shocking. To His eyes fell to the floor and remained there for a moment. Everyone just waited patiently expecting him to say or do something. Welf leaned into everyone and spoke in a low voice.
"I-is he okay?"
Lili kicked his leg causing him to yelp slightly. Her eyes like spears and her voice a whip.
"Of course he's not idiot! I bet this has something to do with that harlot!
*Slap*
"HUH!"
Lili held her cheek and turned to Hestia. Anger was an understatement she was furious. Even the sharp tongued Pallum was in shock by her actions. Their attention turned away from Bell to the new shocker.
"I expected better from you Lili! To so easily insult not only my friend but also a member of this Familia be glad you got off with just that!"
The young girl gulped and nodded. She may have a sharp tongue and often battled verbally with the goddess but this was one of the few times she knew pissing her off would end badly.
"S-sorry… I'm just worried for Bell."
Hestia got to her feet. All the time she kept an eye on Bell it was clear he was debating heading back up stairs. She wanted to go with him and help patch things up. But a small part also remembered her conversation with Artemis.
'They need to spend some time away from each other… But that's hard without splitting them apart?'
"Hey is everything okay Goddess?"
For the briefest moment she thought she was hearing things but realised Welf had spoken out to her. She glanced at him and nodded.
"Y-yes… If you excuse me I'm gonna find out what's wrong. Why don't you all discuss what your plan for the day is."
With that she headed over to her first child. He had barely moved from the doorway drawing a large amount of attention on himself. However he didn't seem to notice it and this became more obvious as Hestia moved closer. It was almost like he didn't see her.
"Bell?"
The mere mention of his name was enough to break him out of whatever trance he was in. He wearily looked at her but he didn't say anything. Not even wishing her a good morning like he always would.
"I-Is everything okay?"
His gaze quickly fell to the floor again. He shook his head. A brief silence ensued, but he seemed to get around to the point quickly.
"W-where's A-Artemis?
Even his voice sounded weary and almost defeated. No doubt her original thought about him beating himself up all night was correct.
'Bell…'
"She's not feeling well this morning… I told her to spend time resting."
She noticed it. A twitch in his hand and feet. He was going to turn around and go upstairs but... But something stopped him. Was it shame? Or did he know not to challenge his goddess's words.
"D-did she… Did she say anything?"
'Do I tell him… She was so upset, no he knows that already hiding it the fact won't change anything.'
"I don't know what happened between you two all I know is my friend was upset because of it… But this isn't the time we have bigger issues to worry about now."
She noticed it. His fist was clenched, she could faintly hear the bones crack. He wasn't angry at her or Artemis. No it was himself.
"I…"
He took a step and turned to the stairs but Hestia grabbed his shirt. He stopped and looked back. Her heavy heart had no choice but to be firm with him.
"No leave her!"
"But goddess I…"
She gave him a stern look.
"I'm serious Bell don't! She's in no state to talk to you, you hurt her emotionally even if it was an accident it's not something so easily fixed."
He looked to the stairs and sighed defeat. He couldn't go against his goddess. He nodded and moved past her but he was intercepted by Aiz. Hestia hadn't noticed that the girl moved closer to them. What was worse is she probably overheard their conversation. The look in her eyes was a mixture of both sadness and joy.
The sword princess came closer to him, but Bell quickly avoided her gaze. She didn't know why but it ticked her off. Instead she latched on to his hand and puffed out her cheeks. The sight was unbecoming of her but it seemed to do the trick.
"Ugh Aiz ummm?"
He looked down and noticed his hand being squeezed. He then noticed it. The odd looks he was getting from everyone. He noticed Lili and Welf sitting on a table with two others. He recognised Mikoto but the other girl was a mystery. However Aiz was making it hard to go chat.
"Come."
She made it clear this wasn't a request. She didn't even wait for him to give an answer pulling him toward the door. Bell didn't fight back and just accepted this was his fate. Hestia stood in shock before she realised what was happening.
"H-Hey we need him!"
But it was too late Bell disappeared round the corner and disappeared into the crowd with the golden hair girl. Hestia was speechless but something about this was both settling and unsettling.
'URGH! Damn her still I suppose in the short term its a good thing… Bell can get stronger under her but… No I can't let him get entangled in her web again!'
She turned back to the table and sighed.
"Luna I suppose we should give you a Falna after all you're going to need to be registered at the guild so we'll do that today…"
Luna smiled and nodded in agreement.
"What about you three? I doubt Bell will be joining you so its up to you what you do today… Still I think it would be best to get as much training in as possible… Once the Denatus starts there won't be much time to train…"
Welf, Lili and Mikoto nodded and got to their feet.
"We'll head to the dungeon then… I suppose we'll meet back up later then. Come on you two let's go."
Welf said and the three of them disappeared to the dungeon leaving Hestia and Luna alone. Hestia decided that it would be best to at least speak with her newest member especially since she knew nothing about her.
"Come sit we have plenty of time and I can't use the room until Artemis gets up."
The two of them returned to the table and chatted.
"Soo Luna was it? Sorry my minds been all over the place recently I hope you can forgive me."
The dark purple haired girl smiled.
"No no it's fine, after all you got it in one. I must say once I heard your situation I felt inclined to help… Almost as if fate was pushing me towards you all."
Hestia had been curious why someone would willingly risk freedom to join a Familia in the middle of a wargame. She had nothing to do with her Familia or Apollo. She wasn't even from Orario…
"I've been meaning to ask, I know you said last night that you joined because of being rejected from so many Familia but… Why did you specifically seek us out?"
With a small smile she shrugged but it was obvious she had a reason.
"When I ran into Bell I had no idea who he was. But I could tell he was a kind person. When I later learned who he was it inspired me. I hoped to meet him again and thank him…"
She laid her arms and head onto the table.
"I was sad to hear that his Familia was under attack so I swore to myself to help in anyway I could. I hate seeing the kind being stepped on in this world… I want to become strong and inspire those to stand up. That is my dream."
Hestia listened to the girl and her explanation. She was actually happy to see someone with a kind hearted goal. Yet she couldn't help but be confused as to her overall motives she knew she someone to trust.
"I see well, I hope we can help you reach it Luna… I'm sure Bell would agree with your ideals. I'll be sure to introduce you when he gets back."
"Thank you my goddess I look forward to it."
Their chat continued for awhile, just general chit chat so she could get a better idea of the girl, she was about to ask her were she came from but was stopped when Ryu greeted another person.
"Good Morning miss Artemis I hope you're feeling better?"
She turned to look at her friend, she was holding her bow and looked ready to head into the dungeon. However just like Bell she scanned the room but noticed it was just her and someone else. With nothing else to do she joined them but didn't say anything. Hestia meanwhile gave her a small smile.
"Morning… How are you f…"
"Fine!"
She didn't say anything else and quietly set her bow down and placed her hands on her lap.
'So he isn't here ever…'
"Umm okay… Ugh sorry Luna could you give us a minute you can wait upstairs I'll give you your Falna after I'm done."
Luna nodded getting to her feet and making her way to the stairs. Once she was out of sight Hestia turned her attention back to Artemis who was still waiting patiently for something.
"Artemis I thought I told you to rest for the day."
She sighed and looked to the door.
"Where is Bell?"
"He went to go train, why are you?"
Artemis didn't look upset but her voice was needy she obviously wanted to talk to him. Just like Bell wanted to speak with her.
'These two…'
"Do you know where?"
Hestia sighed at her question.
"I told you to leave it, Bell needs to focus and…"
"And what? I don't want to leave things as they are Hestia. Please just let me go and talk with him."
'She's so stubborn ugh why did I think this was a good idea…'
"He's with Aiz."
She said it without even thinking and it didn't click until she saw the look on her friends face. Pure shock or more horror.
'Ohh no that's not good why did I have to tell her that of all things.'
"H-he's h-he's w-what?"
She felt her heart drop even further something about the sword princess seemed to hurt when she heard her name. But this time it hurt more. Hestia quickly tired to fix the situation before it got any worse.
"I-Its just to train, she's done wonders for him in the past and… and..."
It was no good Artemis just shut out everything. Her eyes filled with uncertainty and confusion. But it was nothing compared to her thoughts…
'H-He said he needed space… T-that he needed to be alone… S-So why? WHY HER!'
*"I can't concentrate, I have a thousand and one thoughts swirling inside my head… My Familia, this wargame, Aiz and you!"*
His words from the night before echoed in her head as if to prove a point.
'H-He… He only loves her… He only has eyes for her... I was and idiot for thinking otherwise.'
Her fists were clenched and her nails dug into her skin close to drawing blood all so she could avoid the tears escaping her eyes. But the more she waited the harder it was and it made her angry.
"A-Artemis… Hey whats wrong?"
Her eyes shot open and the anger she was holding inside started to leak out. She bit her tongue and shook her head as she got up grabbing her bow.
"I'm going to the dungeon!"
She didn't say anything else. She just turned and walked out the building leaving Hestia both shocked and worried. Worried about the look on her face. She had seen it so many times it was disgust. Disgust for men.
"I know that look… Oh gods please don't let her fall back into that hole. Ugh is this my fault? I thought keeping them apart would be a good thing… Damn that Aiz!"
She sighed and headed upstairs to give Luna her Falna. But all the time she was wondering what would be the best course of action.
"Hey! Hey Aiz where are we going?"
Aiz continued to pull him even long after he had tried to catch up. He ended up just allowing it as he was pulled from area to area with no answers to any of his questions.
"Hey are you even listening to me?"
Silence…
"Hey Aiz?"
"Training!"
She spoke in a quick firm and sharp manner which reflected her personality and fighting style. Bell was left unsure how to responded so he just gave up and accepted this was what he was going to be doing.
'I suppose this is best option anyway. If I've got to take on other members of a Familia I need the practice.'
He glanced over at his long time crush and felt a sudden wave of nothing. His admiration for her wasn't there and his deep seeded feelings seemed to reseed and hide behind his confusion. He took a deep breath and reminded himself about the conversation he and Artemis had as well as Hestia's words to him.
'I can't be distracted! When this wargame is over I'll worry about these feelings but for now…'
He turned and saw another Familiar face. It was Tiona and she seemed to be expecting them as she waved to them.
"Took you long enough!"
Aiz didn't show any outward expression only a small nod in return. Once they reached her Tiona shot right towards Bell came face to face with him causing him to step back in surprise.
"Well well If it isn't the Orion!"
"Huh… Orion?"
Tiona collapsed her mouth and giggled until she noticed the glare from Aiz and she quickly stopped and swallowed hard before coming up with a quick response.
"Ohh ughh I just read a new book the hero's name was Orion sorry I ugh guess I was still in the moment…"
She crossed her fingers hoping he would buy her story… Luckily this was Bell and he loved his heroic tales as much as she did. His eyes lit up at the thought of a new book.
"Ohh really I don't think I've read that one you have to give me the name of it."
She laughed nervously.
"Haha yeahhh… I can't remember it off by heart. I only got it the other day but… I'll make a mental note tonight."
"Thanks please do,"
With that they all headed off toward the usual spot, Bell wanted to talk with the Amazoness a little but Aiz had already beaten him to the punch he head on ahead knowing better then eavesdropping on others conversation.
Aiz jabbed Tiona in the side. She was only thankful that the girl had come up with a believable lie. However this was a close call and she needed to be reminded.
"You know we can't call him that right?"
Tiona sighed and nodded but there was a look of confusion on her face.
"Yeah but why? I mean it's not like he knows besides I think it suits him don't you?"
Aiz didn't seem to like suggestion.
"No I don't think it does… Come on we have a lot to get through and not a lot of time…"
She sped off after Bell and the amazon just sighed following after her. She noticed it when she made the suggestion it was very subtle after all this was Aiz. She was careful not to show her emotions but she slipped up. For the briefest of moments she got a glare of anger from her but it quickly faded. Which left her wondering.
'Why does she hate that name so much?'
She knew better then to ask but her curiosity was higher than usual so she would find out. But a small part of her didn't really care as she got to spend the day with Bell who she admittedly had a small crush on…
The three of them arrived a top the wall and were greeted with a glorious view, a cool breeze and joyous silence. Bell took a moment to start stretching and preparing himself. He had planned to go to the dungeon with Welf and Lili any ways but this was a much better option. He just wished he knew in advance so he could mentally prepare himself.
Aiz and Tiona started to discuss his training regime they had secretly agreed to help train him even though Riviera forbade them from getting involved with the Hestia Familia's business. At first she seemed to act more like Fin then she realised but they agreed nonetheless. But that didn't mean they wouldn't tried. Aiz assumed the worse she'd get would be a harsh talking to at best.
"I haven't seen him fight since the Minotaur fight? Would you mind if I have a light spar with him?"
Aiz smiled and nodded give her consent. Bell was going to learn the difference between the two's fighting style. While she was quick and agile using her speed and skill to her advantage Tiona was a whole different animal.
"Sooo Orion-I mean Bell... Are you ready to begin."
The moment she said it she knew Aiz was annoyed but she didn't openly say anything to her. In the she decided it would be best to just call him by his name and save the nicknames when the two were alone…
'Hopefully he-he.'
Bell meanwhile nodded and moved towards them.
"Soo umm what is the plan?"
He noticed Aiz's smile. It wasn't one he liked, it meant that he was going to get hurt… Hurt a lot."
Tiona beamed with joy as she hopped and skipped over to him. Stopping an arms length away her hands behind her back as she leaned forward still smiling.
"You and me are gonna have a light spar. Don't worry I promise I'll go easy on you. Do your best okay."
She gave him a little wink but all Bell could do was worry. In fact, she terrified him he didn't want to know what was about to happen.
'I might not live to see the wargame…'
With little to no choice in the matter he took his stance and prepared for a beating akin to a monster beating a newbie adventurer. He gulped as the blur of the girls form came in front to him and a fist landed against his chest.
'Grandfather… Help…'
Welf, Lili and Mikoto felt kind of bad when they saw Artemis. They had stopped to discuss which floor they should train on as it was strange not having Bell. However Lili suggested they continue a few floors above as they weren't as taxing and the three of them had all gotten used to fighting off the monsters. But when they noticed Artemis all alone heading for the dungeon entrance Welf suggested that they keep an eye on her.
"Ughh why do we have to? I mean surely she must know what she's doing?" Lili scoffed.
Mikoto was a neutral party in this discussion she didn't know the Goddess turned girl but from what her god told her about her she wasn't new to fighting monsters in fact she probably had more time then all three of them combined. However monsters in the dungeon were a whole different ball game to those on the surface.
"A couple days training isn't going to do us much good… We can't fight the monster Rex and without Bell were probably gonna be slower at getting though the dungeon… Besides do you want to be the one to explain why the Goddess friend is dead?"
Lili sighed she didn't hate the girl she just disliked the idea that she had gotten so close to Bell in such a short time.
'Ughh I guess I can't argue with Master Welf and Miss Mikoto does have a good point…'
"Fine I suppose we need everyone at their best and if we aren't going to get any better we can still help her improve her stats…"
Welf smiled and grabbed his sword smiling as the two followed after her. When they finally caught up they were left speechless at the sight even Lili had to take a moment to think.
"Soo ugh… Anyone seeing what I'm seeing?"
"Yeah…"
"Yep I see it…"
When they had caught up they had seen Artemis for the briefest of seconds but to their surprise she was making quick ground. Which was a surprise because she was facing a lot of opposition from monsters. When they finally decided to make their presence known all they found was a hallway full of magic stones.
"I guess she's not interested in making any money?"
Welf mentioned but Lili just sighed and began picking each stone up as they followed behind her. She was still a little bit ahead but they would catch up in no time.
'Even master Bell didn't carve throw them this fast…'
"Hey Lili what are you doing?"
Mikoto was confused but Lili only shrugged as she continued to pick up the trail of magic stones.
"Her loss my gain… You two can go on ahead if you want?"
Welf sighed and gave Mikoto a quick nod and the two went on ahead leaving Lili to her business. She sighed again as she looked up. A small smile on her face.
"I suppose I should give her the benefit of the doubt not like I was a saint when I first met Bell… So long as she keeps her distance from him I'm sure we'll get along just fine…"
She continued in silence picking up every single stone.
Meanwhile Mikoto and Welf caught up with Artemis. They watch in awe as she swiftly defeated monster after monster. Her skills with her bow weren't that of a newbie adventurer or even seasoned ones.
"So this is the goddess of the moon and hunt… She wields her bow like its an extension of her arm…"
Welf had seen the goddesses skills first hand he remembered her skill back then but it wasn't anything like this. He watched each time she released one arrow and it flew straight into the target head as if guided by some unknown force. Without fail she would reach back and grab another and do the same over and over. They couldn't see her face but he assumed she was extremely focused.
When the final arrow was fired she lowered her arm. The two of them decided it was the best time to come out and greet her but she had already turned to meet them.
"How long are you planning on following me?"
Mikoto was taken aback. She was certain there would be no way they could or should have been noticed what surprised her even more was the fact she had been aware of their presence earlier as well. Welf stepped out and held up a hand. His first thought when meeting her was the unhappy look on her face.
'This can't be good.'
"Sorry we just happened to spot you on the way here… We didn't see anyone with you so we just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"Okay? Yes I'm fine thank you."
Welf was about to say something but she just turned and left them before he could. At first his confusion made it hard to think but Mikoto helped break him out.
"Umm what should we do now?"
He rubbed his forehead and thought for a moment. Both of them stood back and watched the new adventurer throwing herself into some nearby monsters. He thought back to when her and Bell first encountered the black scorpions even back then she was throwing herself into a dangerous situation. Except this was different. Before she was doing it to save a mother and child now however…
'It's not even like she cares… She seemed so kind and cautious but now… Its like her personality has done a complete flip…'
"Welf?"
He looked out the corner of his eyes to see the raven haired girl. She also watched closely but it was more to do with her movements. Her eyes followed her as she continued to dodge and fire arrows.
"I think she's upset about something."
"Huh?"
He didn't completely follow her. He got the idea that she was just focused on fighting hell he couldn't even work out how she came to that conclusion but he wasn't about to leave her hanging.
"How so? I mean she looks fine to me."
Mikoto closed her eyes for a moment. The momentary silence helped her to gather her thoughts and when she finally opened them she got her answer.
"It's hard to explain but… When I look at her its like looking at a perfectly performed dance. At first glance her movement and expressions are calm and precise honed to the point of perfection."
Welf still didn't understand what she meant. She saw this and motioned him to look at her. His eyes followed her movements just like Mikoto had done and he noticed it.
"Now you see it don't you? On second glance you start to notice the differences. Like when her arms draw back the string they look more tense then usual. Her feet take a different step each time and even her eyes…
He saw it. It was extremely brief but it seemed to appear at the same time when she killed a monster. Welf knew the look he was familiar with. The look of disappointment. It was the same when he started forging swords for the first time. He had talent but he was critical of his work. He learned to get over that but it was definitely the same now.
"She's doubting herself…"
Mikoto nodded.
"Yes… But why?"
That was the big question. However how in the world are they supposed to talk to her when she just brushed them off like they weren't even there. Mikoto decided to take a try at getting through to her now the monsters were gone.
"Umm Artemis?"
Mikoto took a step forward, her arms pressed to her sides as she gave an exaggerated bow. She wasn't sure her status but she still need the courtesy after all she was a god even if that wasn't entirely the case now.
"We haven't been properly introduced. My name is Yamato Mikoto, formerly a member of the Takemikazuchi Familia. It's a pleasure to meet you.
Artemis looked at the girl bowing before her. It was typical of her land's culture to have such customs even if she wasn't too familiar with them herself. She just smiled and nodded.
"A pleasure to you to miss Yamato, Apologize but I'm quite busy would you mind if we continued this at a different time perhaps?"
She understood that the girl was just trying to be friendly but she wasn't in the greatest of moods at the moment. Last thing she wanted to do was make a poor first impression. But perhaps that was going to happen no matter what.
'Ughh this is what I get for opening up my heart!'
"Perhaps you'd like some help, we are a Familia after all?"
Artemis was about to turn away again but the girls question couldn't be ignored. She had wanted to come to get a grip on her emotions and take out her stress a little. But something was bothering her. Like an itch that couldn't be scratched. She agreed Bell need time to get a grip on the situation… But hearing that he was with Aiz just annoyed her. That annoyance turned to pain and pain into anger. Anger that she tried to take out on training. But it was just an endless cycle of doubt.
'What is it about her, why does he look to her for help and not me? Why did he have to push me away but so quickly embrace her!'
Her hand clenched around the base of the bow, the wood started to shift under the pressure. All this anger and hatred towards one woman, a woman she barely knew but everyone seemed to speak fondly of. Only Hestia showed disdain towards her but she admitted that she was a good thing for Bell… She remembered what Hestia told her that she gave up chasing him when he fell for another.
'I was an idiot to believe it. I was a fool to want to believe it. I threw away everything I held dear and true just to indulge in a fantasy!'
"Artemis are you okay? you seem"
"I'M FINE!"
She snapped her tongue at the girl, unintentionally but it still hit with the same as if she had intended. Mikoto took a step back and looked to the ground. Meanwhile she found herself getting more and more worked up.
'I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine… I'm FINE, I'M FINE I AM FINE!'
"Please we just want to help you its obvious you upset about something and."
"Give it up miss Mikoto, she's not gonna admit it!"
The two seasoned adventures turned to see the third member finally catch up to them. Lili walked out the shadows with a less than happy expression. She made her way over to them before she continued.
"If she doesn't want our help then we should just leave her to it, nothing we say or do is going to change her mind!"
Welf noticed she was being more cold then usual towards the girl, but it wasn't out of jealousy or anger. In fact it looked like she didn't even really care. While he and Mikoto could see she was upset Lili just ignored it like it wasn't even a factor. Her arms crossed as she looked up to her usual party member.
"Come on Master Welf, we have a wargame we need to train for. Lili can't stand having to watch some sorry sack argue with herself!"
Mikoto wasn't sure if the girl was being serious. It seemed like she was being overly harsh for no reason but at the same time she noticed the change in Artemis. Even though she didn't say anything it was obvious the Pallum's words were getting to her if only a little.
"Hey Lili perhaps this isn't the time to start picking fights, she has lost quite a lot these last few weeks. Just because she got close to Bell doesn't mean she deserves such harsh comments."
Lili looked to the blacksmith and sighed inside at how oblivious he was to what was going on.
"No master Welf that's exactly the problem! She can't seem to get over the fact that Bell has feelings for someone else!"
Artemis felt a shiver go through her as she listened to the same Pallum girl. She didn't even know who she was and yet she had managed to deduce her issues almost instantly.
"Hey cut it now's not the time for…"
"Master Welf just be quiet! Go on tell me I'm wrong!"
Lili looked at the blue haired girl, her eyes like the bow in her hand fired arrow like glances at her. She couldn't admit it so she just shook her head and took a step back.
"Come on, answer my question! If it's not true you shouldn't have any issues saying otherwise!"
"I-Its… I-I..."
Welf took a step forward blocking Lili from moving forward. He wasn't sure what the hell she was doing but it wasn't helping and all this shouting was going to bring unwanted attention.
"Quit it Lili your not helping the situation!"
'I can't understand why she's so jealous of her, she wasn't even this bad on the quest…'
Lili just shook her head and stood her ground as she pushed him aside. She was expecting more resistance but Mikoto of all people seemed to step in and assist her pulling him to the side letting her meet the former goddess face to face. The two looked at each other. One with annoyance the other with doubt.
"Answer the question! Is this to do with Bell or not?"
Artemis was starting to dislike the girl, she hadn't even been there for five minutes yet she already started to piss her off.
'It's none of her business if it does or doesn't involve Bell! She should learn to stay out of other peoples business!'
"It doesn't concern you! It doesn't concern any of you! J-just just leave me alone!"
She went to turn to walk away but the young girl reached out and pulled her back. The action filled her with anger and she lashed out.
*Slap!*
"DON'T TOUCH ME!"
The sting in her cheek was a minor in convenience but she didn't release her grip on the girls hand. She just smiled getting a one up on the girl.
*SLAP!*
The whole party went quiet as the sound of another slap echoed through the caves. But no one was expecting who threw it.
Artemis stood in shock, her eyes widened in horror as she looked into a pair of large eyes. Her heart sank and her legs buckled as she fell to the floor. The hand which restricted her arm let go and the Pallum girl stood before her.
At least that's what she thought. Instead of a pair of chestnut eyes looking down at her now it was a pair of red ones. Tears welled up as she looked at the perfect visage of Bell…
"Hurts doesn't it… But it hurts even more when its the one you care about."
The voice seemed to echo run through her head, it was a perfect copy of him and she didn't know why. Her tears escaped her as she broke down looking at him. Her cries echoed through the tunnels as she became unable to hold them back.
Welf and Mikoto could only watch from a distance and even then he didn't understand why Lili had done what she had done. But in the end she did do more then both of them.
'Lili… I hope you know what your doing…'
Lili released her magic turning back to her normal appearance all the while never taking her eyes off the crying girl. She knelt down next to her placing her right hand on her shoulder. She didn't hate the girl, she was just annoyed at how one sided she was being.
"You're not the only one…"
'Huh?'
It took her a moment but she looked at the girl in front of her. She wasn't shouting, she wasn't giving her angry glares. She just knelt before her with a similar look to her own on her face.
"I know what it is you're feeling… Believe me, I've I'm familiar with it. When I first meet Bell I betrayed him… I betrayed his trust but he never held it against me. He showed me kindness I never knew was possible. He saved me from myself and a fate worse then death."
Lili thought to keep her own tears back as she spoke to her.
"I fell in love with him. The idiot and fool he is and you know what I fought constantly with Hestia just to get closer to him… But just like me she was fighting to get closer to him long before me and just like me she was unable to. Because one girl was all he ever thought about."
She felt the tears run down her cheeks but her words seemed to have done the job.
"Why… Why are you telling me this?"
Lili wanted to laugh but couldn't instead she just smiled and shrugged.
"Because like it or not we are all part of this Familia now. Your problems are my problems the same to everyone else whether it be Master Welf, Miss Mikoto or Goddess Hestia."
She stood up and wiped the tears from her cheeks and held out her hand. Just as Bell had done for her.
"So… Come on. Are you just going to sit feeling sorry for yourself and cry all day or do you want to get stronger and help him win this wargame?"
'She's right… At the end of the day, nothing will matter if Apollo wins this Wargame… I want to help Bell, I might not be able to help him personally… But I'll do anything in my power for him.'
She wiped the tears from her eyes before accepting the hand held out to her and was helped to her feet. She brushed herself off of any dust or dirt before returning to join the others.
"Well I think it's time we start fresh don't you all?"
"Mhhm"
All of them nodded in agreement.
"Well you already know Mikoto, You already know who I am so I suppose its left to this one." Welf said.
He looked to Lili who smiled and nodded holding out her hand.
"Liliruca Arde, I look forward to working with you in the future."
Artemis accepted her handshake and nodded.
"I'm Artemis and I look forward to it."
"Good now that you two have been introduced and gotten to know each other… *Cough* any ways lets get going shall we."
Welf and Mikoto led the way but before Artemis could follow she found one little issue. Her hand was still held firmly in place by Lili who hadn't let go. She looked at her seeing a smiling face and closed eyes. She then got pulled in as the girl began to speak.
"Ohh and one more thing just so we're clear I'm not gonna roll over just like Hestia, I don't have any intention of letting you have Bell."
Artemis just smiled back.
"Don't worry, I don't intend to let you have him either."
With that, the two let go, briefly grinning at each other, and silently chased after the rest of the party as they prepared for the threat looming over their heads.
