Ever since Preston Burke walked out of her life Cristina Yang hasn't been Cristina Yang. She wished Burke had the guts to call the engagement off before the actual wedding. Shit it's not always a fairytale ending is it? He had sent his "Mama" for his things which was a very shitty move on his part. She will never forgive him for forcing her to move in with him nor forcing her to commit to him. He had ruined her and her reputation which was unbearable.

When he first left she cried herself to sleep every day for a month sadness was replaced with relief which later turned into anger. She broke dishes and picture frames in anger which eventually ended with a breakdown on the kitchen floor and now she was numb. It wasn't like he was dead which in her case she wouldn't mind but more like pieces of her died while Burke was molding her into his version of a "Perfect Wife."

He had her all fucked up in her head and she didn't even realize it until he was gone. Surgery was now her distraction on what a shrink would call "A coping mechanism." She'd had enough of men she didn't need a husband or some boyfriend telling her he loved her and wanted to move in with her and then ending up alone at the altar again. Hell once was embarrassing enough for her and what her mother would call another disappointment.

The doctors were waiting for the three incoming traumas and the chief told Cristina to come with him as the rig opened they saw a G.I Joe traching the patient with a ballpoint pen.

"Pen... Trach... hot!" Cristina whispered.

"Vincent Kenner age 58 unrestrained passenger of a limbo that took a nosedive along with muffled heart sounds and large scalp lac," the Emt said. He got an express ticket to the OR and Hahn finally allowed Cristina to scrub in, but she had to find the chief before she scrubbed in.

The Chief and G.I Joe were coming out of the patient's room when Cristina approached them. "Oh, sir Dr. Hahn is working on multiple crush injuries she wants you to take look." G.I Joe observed Cristina and Dr. Webber discussing the case he wondered who this woman was. "You're bleeding," Dr. Webber tells G.I Joe.

"Oh, my car was right behind theirs at the intersection I cut it on impact." He then stretched out his arm. "Major Owen Hunt US Army second forward surgical Trauma surgeon." The chief turn's to Cristina and tells her to take care of Major Hunt's leg. "Hey, where are you going?" asked Cristina. "To check on my other patients," he said.

"No, No you are the patient!" She found him outside a patient's room arguing with McDreamy. "Who the hell are you?" Derek asked. "Army surgeon badass did something crazy with a pen on a guy's throat," Cristina interjected and leaned against the nurse's station watching the heated argument between shepherd and him. Derek seriously wanted to punch the guy he instead walked away and Cristina turned to the guy in camouflage, "We're closing up your leg now."

She led him down the halls and to an empty exam room. He limped past her into the room onto the opposite side of the gurney in the room's center and Cristina closed the door behind them while he slung his shirt over a nearby chair and let his pants pooled around his ankles. This guy was seriously showing everything for just a scratched-up leg.

She stepped closer to his side of the room feeling his eyes on her as she collected supplies. "Staples would be fine," his voice was low and gravelly. Cristina could hear the smile in his tone and their eyes locked for a minute before he looked down, "I've had worse damage," his hand gesturing to the wound on his thigh.

Cristina cleared her throat before she spoke with a slight smile, "Alright then Major Hunt," she sat down on the stool she had placed beside him, pulling her tray of supplies with her as she approached him. She had the swab in her hand which brushed against his thigh as he lifted his underwear for better access to the injury.

"What kind of transformer would you be?" He asked out of nowhere. She looked up and there was that smug smile again, "That's random but I'd be Starscream."

"Really? I think you'd be Optimus fine," he smirked.

"I would slap you right now but I might lose my medical license for hitting a patient," She said rolling her eyes and looking back down at his leg beginning to clean the wound while trying to hide a smile.

"Okay," Cristina mumbled as she finished cleaning the area standing up as she abandons the swab on her tray. Her back is to him as she fumbles for something and Major Hunt looks down at the tray before him and sees a stapler. He doesn't know what makes him wrap his fingers over the tool he thinks rather it has something to do with the petite surgeon and a deep desire to pull at least one more smile from her.

"I'm going to numb..." Cristina's voice trailed off as she catches the sight of him stapling his own wound, "Uh you're not numbed."

"So?" His reply was simple and flippant before going back to the task at hand.

"S-ow! S-uh, ow!" She winced with an amused face. "Can't get an angle at these could you?'' He asked if it wasn't a lie for it would be much easier for a separate set of hands to finish patching him up than his own. However, had it been someone else in the room he would have most likely continued himself.

She looks down with a smile and a slight shake of her head and a chuckle, "Okay." She placed the stapler, pulled it, and heard a slight reaction of pain from him. She looked back up with wide eyes searching for permission to continue. He met her eyes again attempting a slight grin through gritted teeth and nodded at her for approval.

"Thank you," He smiled through gritted teeth his grin widening as the pain subsides and watched her rise to her feet before she speaks, "Don't mention it," and their eyes met for a few seconds until they were interrupted by Torres and Cristina remembered she had to go scrub in," Poke yourself," she said and as she was leaving the room she didn't have to turn around knowing his eyes were glued onto her.

"Meredith!" Cristina yelled. "Shut up. You know shut up about Derek. Shut up about moving in with Derek, Shut up about your relationship because you know want to know why. I've heard it all before. Yeah, you know, you guys get together, and I have to listen to it, then you guys break up, and I have to listen. I don't want to hear about you and McDreamy anymore I can't take it anymore!"

Meredith looked at her knowing she had the dark and twisties."You know what? That's it!'' Cristina shouted but before she could go inside she slipped and was impaled by an icicle.

She began gasping and screaming, "Hold on Cristina!" Meredith said running back into the hospital. She ran to the nurses' station and told them to get a gurney then explained what happened.

Major Hunt had just finished a phone call with his mother and he was in good spirits when he stepped back up the parking lot of the main entrance of the hospital when he saw a shadow of dark curly hair spread across the pavement.

It was her.

He saw Cristina lying on the ground gasping with an icicle in her chest. He stood in front of her with a wry grin," Damsel in distress." He couldn't help but chuckle slightly.

"Damsel in distress my ass," Cristina thought. He reached down and wrapped his arms gently around her to pick her up and not cause her extra pain to the wound and his feet took him back into the hospital.

"How did you get into a mess like this?" he asked with a slight smile.

Cristina gasped slightly as their eyes met before she spoke," So not... in the mood for small talk right now."

He raised his eyebrows slightly, "Fair enough Dr. Yang... We'll get you fixed up then. He found an empty exam room and laid her on the gurney.

She winced again, "Dammit, Meredith you and your Mcdramas."

"You know talking to yourself is the first sign of insanity," he added and was about to start an examination when Meredith came in.

"How are you feeling Cristina?" she asked.

"How does it look like I'm doing?" Cristina snarled at her. "Can you just pull it out?"

Before Meredith could answer the Chief stormed into the room, "Yang! What the hell happened? Get her on a monitor, and order a portable chest x-ray."

"I'm fine my vitals are stable just pull it out," Cristina said through clenched teeth.

"You be quiet," the chief ordered. "Major Hunt, what are you doing here?"

"I brought her in sir."

"Thank you, hope your leg is alright," Webber mentioned. "It is sir, she took great care of me. I'll visit you later Dr. Yang."

Cristina laid back and closed her eyes until she heard someone walk in. Major Hunt looked at her and smiled. He sat on the edge of the gurney, "So how are you feeling?"

"How do I look like I'm feeling?" She muttered.

"You look like you could be better just lose the icicle then you'll be a doll again," he smirked at her.

Cristina shot him a look seriously and wanted to punch the guy in camouflage now was not the time for games.

"Let's try this again how are you feeling?" He asked her again.

"I'm fine just pull it out," she said harshly.

"I wouldn't," He smirked. Cristina wanted to wipe that smirk off his face and she would have if she wasn't karmically impaled right now.

"She's certainly very feisty," he thought to himself. Demanding that the icicle should be pulled out demanding him to mind his own business and he figured he'd better comply. If looks could kill he'd be dead by now. Feisty was most definitely turning him on.

"Just take the damn thing out!" balling her hands into fists. She had better things to do than be laying in the ER with a stupid icicle in her chest. "Leave it right where it is. You get stabbed in the chest and you're lucky enough to still be breathing," He said to her and earned a glare in return.

"Take it out," Cristina argued again.

"Leave it in," he insisted as Meredith walked in and watched them both bicker on what to do when she turned to Major Hunt, "You've got her covered?"

"Yeah," he nodded at her. "She should be back all patched up in no time if she would listen to my medical advice."

"Alright well, I'll come back later to check on you. I've got surgery," Meredith said as she slipped out of the room quietly.

Cristina rolled her eyes and snorted irritably. He gave her a slight smile she wanted to smack him because he did not know her nearly long enough to comment on the behavior but the icicle kept her from moving.

Major Hunt was about to grab the door handle when he heard her speak, "And where the hell are you going?"

"I'm just going to go get more supplies unless you want me to leave you here untreated," he chuckled.

"Fine! just hurry up!" she shouted at him.
