"Next question!" George announced. "What are the Principles of CP bypass?"

"Oh, Bambi next time pick a harder one. CP bypass replaces heart and lung function. Supply circulation and allows blood gas exchange, maintenance of acid-base balance, and thermal allow induced cardiac arrest with maintained circulation to the rest of the body thank you very much," Cristina added as she took a shot of tequila.

"Damn O'Malley, you make a terrible proctor. Yang is going to outrank you," Alex laughed.

"I've got a question for you," George challenged him. "Congenital anomaly in which large parts of the brain fail to develop what?"

"Wilms Tumore," Alex said

"Incorrect," George snickered.

"I've had dud patients and the new ped's chick has been running my ass off," Alex argued.

"Let me ask him this time," Cristina volunteered. "The most vulnerable period in fetal life is in the first how many days?"

"60 days since the fetus's structure and organs began to form" Alex called out.

"See I knew evil spawn wasn't a dumb ass," Cristina chuckled.

Later in the week, the residents took a bus down to Minnesota to a hotel where the boards were being administered.

"I would suspect a hepatic encephalopathy and check an ammonia level to confirm," Cristina said.

"I'll save you the trouble. It's confirmed," the examiner announced.

"I would check the patient's medication..."

"Medication?" The examiner questioned her.

"Okay, then I'd start on lactulose and neomycin, she proposed.

"The patient..." The examiner started but was interrupted.

"Still not getting better?" Cristina remarked.

"Then I would do a shunt revision with a stent graft."

"Stent graft?" The examiner asked.

"Yes, a stent graft."

"Well risky move, Dr. Yang."

"Are all your questions gross?" Meredith asked washing her hands.

"Gross? What do you mean, gross?"

"Uh, they keep asking me about bowels and bloody stools?"

"It's general surgery. What do you expect?" Cristina snickered.

"Cristina you're not helping, at all."

"My guy is a freakin' fossil," Cristina complained. "The last time he was in the O.R., it was lit by candles. Maybe I'll just live in here, in this stall, in my filth... till I die."

(Izzie knocked on the door )

"Occupied. Go away!" Cristina yelled.

"Uh, I-I really need to get in there."

"Uh, sorry. Closed for maintenance!"

"Cristina! Please let me in," Izzie begged.

"Come back later!" Cristina shouted.

"I'd locate the fistula endoscopically, then inject fibrin glue."

"What about an abscess?" The examiner asked.

"What about it?" Cristina challenged.

"You seem awfully sure of yourself," the examiner continued.

"I'm sorry. Is that a question?" Cristina asked.

"Do you feel threatened?"

"Oh, have we moved on to psychology?" Cristina sarcastically added.

"You know, if you don't agree with my approach, I wish you would voice your issues."

"I-I don't disagree," she stated.

"I don't believe you."

"Are you calling me a liar, sir? Fine. You know what? When I said I was okay with that open procedure, I wasn't. That might have been okay when, like, hawkeye and B.J. did it on "M-a-s-h," but this being the new century and all, I would have, as I said earlier, treated it endoscopically."

"I can answer these questions any way you want using medical techniques from any era. So how about we just, you know, pick a decade you're comfortable with and go from there?" Cristina said loudly.

"Well, It's been a pleasure being witness to such genius. I can now finally retire knowing that such advanced and creative minds are at work in the surgical field."

"That's it?"

"Oh, I think we've had enough of an education today, Dr. Yang."

"But there's still 20 minutes," Cristina added. "No need and best of luck," The examiner said as he left the room.

"What time do you got? George asked Alex.

"12:04"

"Oh! It was supposed to come online at midnight!" Cristina exaggerated.

"Crazy doctors they crashed the system," Alex joked.

"Alex! You just jinxed it! The results won't be in until 1 am dammit Alex," Meredith cursed.

"I'm sure I failed my guy was a vendetta," Cristina mumbled.

"Nah you're fine unless your Bambi over there," Alex snickered.

"We should throw a party tomorrow to celebrate!" Izzie suggested

"Iz we don't even know if we passed and if we didn't there's no point in celebrating," George said.

"You know you guys go drown yourself in your pity I'm going to stay here and wait," Cristina said.

"Very funny Yang!" Alex called out.

Cristina looked back at him and flicked him off then found a bench and sat down, "I'll close my eyes for just a few minutes," She thought as she slowly fell asleep.

Owen had just finished his shift when he saw someone with curls sitting at a bench he knew exactly who that was. As he got closer to her he saw she had fallen asleep. "She can't sleep out here, especially at night. It's incredibly dangerous for someone like her," He thought to himself and found himself carrying her bridal style as he first did when he found her outside the hospital with an icicle in her abdomen.

He was extremely surprised that she didn't wake up .with the shift of movement. He placed her down gently on the bottom bunk and admired how her features had softened up when she was asleep.

"What are you doing, Hunt? She's your colleague. You didn't take the job to woo her over beside's you just kissed her nothing more," He gave her one last look before stepping quietly out of the on-call room.

Cristina woke up and wasn't aware of her surroundings when she noticed she was in an on-call room she didn't remember going inside the hospital. She needed coffee and a shower. She was making her way outside the hospital when Meredith approached her, "Cristina Why haven't you answered your phone?"

"I fell asleep last night and didn't see the results. Did you pass?" Cristina asked Mere. "You bet your sexless ass I did!"

"Let me check my email give me one sec... Yes! Badass!" Cristina yelled.

"I can't believe the chief is making us go to this stupid dinner," Alex said as he sat down with his lunch tray.

"There's no backing out now unless your dying of a stroke," Cristina mumbled.

"Guys stop being so negative! We are actual surgeons now don't you think we should be able to celebrate that?" Izzie beamed.

"No." The other 4 said in unison.

"My way of celebrating is going to Joe's and getting drunk not going to some fancy dinner," Cristina mumbled.

"Izzie I have to wear something modern," George mentioned.

"George hush the chief is heading over here," Meredith said as she looked down at her sandwich.

"You kids jazzed about dinner?" Webber asked.

"Yes sir," George said.

Webber turned to Alex, "Oh very jazzed."

"Yum!" Izzie said with a smile.

"Well call me Miles Davis 'cause I'm jazzed," Webber said as he left their table.

Alex waited for the chief to leave before speaking, "I'll give you 10 bucks to stab me in the face right now."

It was around 8 pm when Cristina made it to the restaurant dressed in light-washed jeans and a white sweater. She took a seat where Meredith was seated.

"Thank god you're here I don't think I would've survived if you weren't here to keep me company," Meredith complained.

"Mhm," Cristina mumbled as she poured herself a glass of red wine. She had just started talking with Meredith when she felt a shift of movement behind her and turned around, "Ugh Hunt."

"Yes ugh Hunt is here," Owen said, "Can I Cristina you, or are we not there yet?"

"Not going to happen," she said.

"Fine. You're uh not going to have a problem with me sitting here are you?" Owen teased her.

"No why would I?" Cristina asked taking the opportunity to take a sip of wine.

"Well, I'm just remembering the comment you made when you noticed I was going to sit here."

"Whatever," Cristina said as she rolled her eyes at him.

Before he could reply he was interrupted by the Chief, "I'm glad that everyone could join us tonight and there's a little bit of advice I like to give at these dinners every year. The 7 years you spent here as a surgical resident were one of the best and worst times of your lives. We are doctors we get overworked, get sick, hell even retire early. We can do better. You fight for your patients like you've never fought before. Even when you want to lie down you don't get to. Cheers everyone congrats you made it to the finish line."

Everyone gave him a round of applause and clinked their glasses toward one another. "That was one of the lamest speeches I've ever heard," Cristina whispered to Meredith.

"Give him some credit he reused the same speech when we first became interns," Meredith whispered back.

"Whatever I'm starving," Cristina said grabbing a bread roll.

The rest of the dinner was smooth and calm except for the fact Owen Hunt wouldn't stop staring at her and Meredith was too busy talking to Derek to notice, "Would you keep your damn eyeballs off me?"

"Well you're sitting next to me so I'm kinda forced to look at you," Owen said.

"Oh wow, I don't know if I should be flattered or offended by that."

"Shrimp?" Owen offered.

"Uh no thanks," Cristina mumbled.

"Well I guess I'll just eat the rest while you suffer from hunger," he teased.

"Give that to me," Cristina murmured.

"So what made you choose Cardio?" Owen asked.

Cristina sighed," We don't have to do small talk I'm not interested."

"Just asking since we're the only ones not talking," Owen shrugged.

"Then what are doing right now? Playing ball?" Cristina remarked.

"I'm going to the restroom you coming with?" Meredith inquired.

"Gladly," Cristina said as she got up.

"Looks like you're lucked out," Meredith said as she looked at a mirror.

"No kidding I've had to deal with Ginger for over an hour he's like something sticky that won't blow off."

"Is there going to be a makeout session later?" Meredith grinned.

"Definitely not I'm not interested," Cristina said rolling her eyes.

"You just have to survive dessert and then you can go home," Meredith sighed.

"Thank god," Cristina mumbled as she left the bathroom and walked back to her seat.

"Who's blueberry cheesecake is this?" Cristina asked.

"You weren't here so I ordered for you," Owen admitted.

"This is the saddest piece of cake I've ever seen."

"Why?" Owen asked.

"It's too small I'm going to need some more," Cristina said as she signaled the waiter over while Owen was silently snickering.

"You know enjoy your desert I'm going to head out," Owen said as he got up and accidentally knocked his glass of wine on Cristina's lap which he failed to notice.

"That son of a bitch... Meredith!" Cristina hissed.

"What... Oh, wow what happened?" Meredith asked as she looked around for napkins.

"Stupid trauma surgeon knocked his glass of wine on me is what happened! I look like I pissed myself."

"Here wrap this sweater around your waist and we can go back to my place," Meredith said.

"I need to get out of here that son of a bitch is so going to pay," Cristina grumbled.

"So I guess there wasn't a make-out session?" Meredith snickered.

"Meredith I swear to god if you don't shut up I will throw you across the street!" Cristina hissed.

"Fine geez," Mere mumbled.
