Princess Bella - Chapter Five
¨Oh no,¨ I whispered.
I made sure no one could see Sophia and covered her up with my hair. The fact that she had managed to escape once from me, was one time too many.
¨I´m coming, Mother!¨ I yelled and got up. Mother stood in the garden, searching for me.
When I came up to her, she glanced over at my clothes. ¨Princess Bella, look at all the stains on your dress! Prince Edward cannot see you like this. It would put too much shame on our Kingdom!¨
I rolled my eyes, but Mother quickly snapped my ear. ¨You cannot show this kind of attitude, young lady. Especially not after last time,¨ she hissed and sent me to my room to change.
I rolled my eyes three more times to get it out of my system because I couldn't receive the sewing punishment again. I would surely die out of boredom.
I quickly threw on a different dress, and my maid Jessica came to me to brush my hair and pinch my cheeks to bring some colour to my face. I was sure Mother sent her to do that, as I was in no mood to look pretty for some horrible, horrible prince.
Especially not one that I am supposed to marry.
¨Where is the beautiful blushing bride?¨ I heard my brother Paul teasingly sing. He knew that every thought or word about Prince Edward was annoying me, so he didn't waste any opportunity to name him every now and then.
¨For the love of god, please don't let him in my room,¨ I whispered to Jessica.
She blinked a few times, and obeyed my request without a second thought. That was weird, because she normally only obeyed my Mother.
Sophia bit my hair. Aww!
Wait, Sophia… I brought her to life when I thought about a friend and I brought the flower back to life when I thought about happy things. Would that mean that I made Jessica obedient because I thought about my own discomfort?
I had to ask Victoria!
Paul knocked on my door. ¨Princess Bella, are you ready?¨
I nodded to Jessica and opened the door for him. I would have to face Prince Edward at some point, and he was probably only here to tell me the suit I made for him was hideous and needed tons of alterations.
If he was really here, only for that… Oh boy, I would be on sewing duty for the rest of my life, because I would cuss him out like a crazy person!
At least, if I needed to sew until the day I died, I would never have to marry him.
I giggled and Paul frowned at me.
¨Whatever you´re thinking, it's not going to work.¨
See? That's why I liked Jake much more!
We walked towards Mother, who stood in front of our castle and looked proudly at Father and Prince Edward. Mother gestured me to stand next to her, so we could welcome Prince Edward together. She frowned at Paul and he shrugged.
Yes, we were late and yes, it was my fault because yes, I didn't want to be here.
Prince Edward had once again his back turned to us and was in deep conversation with Father. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I couldn't possibly imagine it would be interesting.
¨Look down,¨ Mother whispered, so I did as I was told.
I heard footsteps approaching, but I kept my eyes on the ground. If this prince was as hideous as I pictured him to be, I didn't want to see him anyway.
¨Queen Renee, thank you for this warm welcome to your marvellous castle. I am in awe of this beautiful place.¨
Because I had my eyes to the ground, I dared to roll them again. What an absolute suck-up.
But, he did have a nice voice. He had an accent I couldn't quite place, and it sounded almost inviting and warm.
¨Of course, Prince Edward,¨ Mother giggled, a sound that was foreign to me. I frowned, apparently Mother was a suck-up as well.
¨And this must be my beautiful betrothed, Princess Bella. It´s a pleasure to finally meet you.¨
¨Yes, this is my wonderful daughter. But she's quite the little trouble maker, now isn't she?¨ Mother giggled again, and she nudged me with her elbow and ordered me to look up.
I finally looked up and stuck my nose in the air. I could be a suck-up as well, if I had to. And I had to.
¨The pleasure is…..¨ My breath got stuck in my throat.
Woah.
This Prince Edward guy had some piercing golden eyes! It was impossible to look away from them. The colour was so beautiful, like a little ember gemstone. And his brown-reddish hair shone brightly in the sunlight, it almost looked as if it were on fire.
I blinked. I blinked again. I was saying something, wasn´t I? Oh yeah, I suddenly remembered. I was making a fool out of myself!
¨… all mine,¨ I whispered.
The corner of Edward´s mouth lifted, and a crooked smile appeared. I now knew why my Mother had to giggle so much in the two sentences she had said to him.
It was because Prince Edward was freakishly hot!
