Apt 7F

If it wasn't for Esme, this week would have been miserable. But thankfully, my surrogate big sister had taken pity on me when I'd asked for her help with my apartment. She'd made me a home out of particle board and whatever the hell else IKEA used to construct furniture, but it looked nice.

We hadn't had that growing up.

A home that is.

Some kids dreamed of running away and joining the circus, for us, it was the opposite. We dreamed of a home that wasn't on wheels and a bit of privacy we could call our own.

Esme had given up the circus/carney life when she met Carlisle after a fall off the trapeze. And while I wasn't a full-time circus performer, I loved the compromise I'd found performing at Renaissance Faires and Festivals. I still got to do shows and have my fun, but I had a place to come home to.

My phone buzzed and I looked down to see the message from Emmett.

Let's go! We've got to hit the road.

I groaned to myself and grabbed my suitcase and backpack so I could head out to the car. We had a long drive ahead of us and I wasn't going to listen to Emmett bitch for the first half of it.
