Cody Fanatic: Then evidently you've got good taste, and thanks for the input.
Ellismskd24: Yeah, I found that out when I was browsing the Total Drama website.
: Thanks, I'm glad to see you liked it. I know I didn't have a lot of new character interactions, but the chapter was already pretty long as it is, so I didn't want to overstuff it. As for the headcanon I mentioned about Bridgette and Carrie being sisters, I do plan to include that and some interactions between the two of them, so don't worry about that, the same going for the other fellow Total Drama competitors. I'm find of both the Surfers and the Performers and want them to go far since all members of those teams deserve to redeem themselves. I don't want to spoil what I plan to do with the Sisters, but I am glad to see that you're okay with both Performers and Surfers making it to the end. That idea you have for a side plot is a pretty interesting one too, but I don't want to spoil anything, so we'll have to wait and see.
Darkknight55: I never said I was against both of them going to the finals, because I would like to do that. I was just a bit hesitant about how readers would react to it, but I'm glad to see you and at least a few others seem to be on board with the idea. But yeah, Geoff and Bridgette definitely need a shot at redemption, especially Bridgette.
SuperSonicHeroes: Glad to see you're still tuning into this story. Yeah, the Ridonculous Race was a pretty solid season overall, but it did take a few episodes for most of the story arcs throughout the season to really get going, though I do have some ideas for various character interactions as the season progresses. One thing that did annoy me throughout the Ridonculous Race is that none of the Total Drama characters competing really bothered to directly reference any of the events that took place during the show, so I had Noah mention some of the events that took place during the Paris episode of World Tour. Plus both he and Trent have been on the same team as Owen twice during their time on Total Drama, so I think they would both understand all too well how lethal his farts can be. As far as the finale goes, I appreciate the input. I'm glad to see you would be okay with either the Surfers or the Performers going all the way, though I was hesitant at the idea of both of those teams going all the way. But yeah, all of them got the short end of the stick in canon, so even if they don't go all the way, I'll be sure to give them some time to shine and a chance redeem themselves before they're eliminated.

"Last time on the Ridonculous Race, our 17 remaining teams travelled to Paris France, where their wills were tested, their artistic visions were pushed to the absolute limit, and their bravery was challenged, and Owen of the Reality TV Pros ended up meating more cheese than anyone thought was scientifically possible. In the end, it was Trent and Leshawna of the Performers that were able to get a grip on first place, but for Gerry and Pete of the Tennis Rivals, it turned out to be game, set, somebody light a match because man did the two of them stink it up. Now there's the obvious question to ask, which team is going to stink it up even worse today? Well just about all of them have the potential to do that, but you're still gonna have to stay tuned and find that out for yorselves, because the time has come for… the Ridonculous Race!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
One intro later…
The sun was still rising over the skies above Paris, while Don stood at the Chil Zone outside of the Louvre to start the episode "The Louvre served as the Chill Zone for yesterday, which also makes it the starting line for today's leg of the race. As always, the teams are going to start in the order in which they arrive, so the Performers are- Hold on a second, what the heck do you two think you're doing?" he was quick to stop the Ice Dancers in their tracks as they tried to sneak past him "It's like I said, the winners from yesterday get to go first, so you two are just gonna have to wait your turn like everyone else."
"You heard them silver streak, step back and wait your turn." this was when Leshawna and Trent promptly made their way past the Ice Dancers, and the former glanced back at the latter "I don't know about you, but I've got my eye on those Ice Dancer creeps. You give them an inch and then they're gonna take the whole damn race and run over anyone they can."
"Don't you think you're kind of over exaggerating?" Trent shot her a raised eyebrow "Yeah they seem pretty creepy, but that seems a little much."
"You remember all the crap that Heather pulled back on Wawanakwa?"
"Yeah."
"You want history to repeat itself?"
"...Okay fair point, but I'm gonna stick with hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. I don't want us going overboard if it turns out to be nothing." on that note, Trent made his way towards the Don Box and pulled out a tip "It says here that we have to take the train to Calanque de Maubois on the Mediterranian coast, and then search the train station when we get there to find the Don Box with our next travel tip. Come on, let's go!" and so the two of them took off, leaving the Ice Dancers and the rest of the teams to line up in front of the Don Box.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"As mentioned by Trent, teams will have to take the train heading South to Calanque de Maubois on the coast. Calanque de Maubois skirts the Mediterranian on the South of France with sand that's so fine, you actually want it to get in your shorts. The Red Cliffs are just one among the many sites that make it as popular of a tourist spot as it is. Did I mention that the beaches in the area are awesome too? Because they are, but beware the crabs because they tend to get a little bit handsy. I would know."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the Louvre…
"Go go go!" once they got their tips, the Ice Dancers, Brains & Brawn and the Surfers all grabbed their tips and took off towards the train station.
"Hang on a second homie, I've got this one." Devin rushed up to the Don Box and reached for the tip, only for a mime to suddenly pop up and snatch it before running away "What the heck, hey get back here and give me that back!" and so he promptly chased after him.
Junior on the other hand, he had his eyes locked onto Carrie, and he lowered his voice a few notches to make himself sound macho "Hey there, the name's Dwayne."
"Hi there, I'm Carrie." she held out her hand.
Unfortunately for Junior, this was when Dwayne took the chance to hijack the handshake in question "Nice to meet ya. Dwayne Senior, this here is my son Dwayne Junior, but I can see that you've already met him for yourself. Let me tell you now, this kid really is such a great little guy, especially once you get to know him. I mean granted he does tend to act up sometimes, but so does pretty much everybody at one point or another, and it usually tends to happen when they get closer to puberty."
"Yeah, I know that all too well. Like Devin's girlfriend Shelly, this one time when-"
"I got him, come on homie!" Devin popped back up with the tip in hand, and then he took off running.
"Looks like it's about time."
"Alrighty then, good luck to you guys." Carrie gave another wave, and then she took off running after Devin.
"You guys too!" Dwayne waved them goodbye, only to then notice the look that Junior was giving him "What?"
"What do you mean what?" Junior let out a groan "You always find a way to embarrass me one way or another."
"Hey come on don't be like that son, you know that's not true. You're just being self conscious in front of a girl, it's natural. Oh and before I forget, I washed your lucky undies for you."
"Oh come on Dad!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the Performers…
"Taxi, hey taxi!" Trent roamed the sidewalk trying to hail a taxi, though he wasn't having much luck with this "For crying out loud there are so many of these things, what the heck does it take to make one of them stop?"
"You gotta be more aggressive to get their attention sugar, like this. HOLD IT!" Leshawna went over to a nearby stop sign, then subsequently ripped it out of the ground, then held it out towards the street "HOLD THE (bleep) UP!" and that was enough to make numerous taxis stop in their tracks, making a few of them crash into each other.
"Wasn't… Wasn't that a little bit excessive?"
"Like I told you before sugar, sometimes you gotta improvise, and in games like this one you gotta go big or go home. Now let's go get us a cab." and so she walked off towards one of the cabs without a care in the world.
"Uh… okay then." Trent nervously followed after her, and he glanced over at one of the cameras nearby "I would say something, but I have no idea what she'd do to me if I did. If anyone here ever watched Total Drama, then you'd know she can be… Well she's one of the last people you want to make an enemy out of."
"You say something back there sugar?"
"Nope, nothing at all."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the other frontrunner teams…
"There's the subway, it's the fastest way to the train station!" Jacques and Josee continued running through the streets and posing with their creepy smiles, until they came across an entrance to the subway and bolted down into it.
This didn't go unnoticed by Geoff as he and Bridgette rushed onto the scene "Hey babe I've got an idea, why don't we just follow them?"
"What makes you say that?" Bridgette shot him a raised eyebrow.
"It's pretty simple really. I figured that instead of trying to get somewhere ourselves, I figure we can just follow one of the teams that are smarter than me, which is pretty easy since all of them are smarter than me."
"Hey come on sweetie, you have to give yourself more credit. But with that being said, following one of the other teams actually isn't that bad of an idea. Let's go!" and so the two of them made their way down the passageway to the subway.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the starting line…
"Alright, now we're talking!" as more teams took off for the train station, Kitty and Emma made their way to the Don Box to get their tip "Come on them teammate of mine, I say it's about time for us to have some fun."
"I've got a better idea, you stop going on about us having fun and let us come in first place for a change." on that rather cynical note, Emma pulled a tip from the Don Box and the two of them took off running "It says we have to get to the train station, now let's go."
"Alright, time for some fun!"
"No seriously, cut it out."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with one of the frontrunner teams…
By this point, Dwayne was left sweating buckets as he and Junior ran through the streets of Paris in the direction of the train station "Alright, that… that's pretty good on your part son… I wasn't too sure if you'd… you'd be able to keep up with… yours truly…"
"Yeah sure, forget about that right now dad, we've gotta go!" and so Junior promptly took off ahead of him, leaving Dwayne to stop and catch his breath.
"Okay, just… hold up and… let me catch my breath… for a second…"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with another team (Rockers)…
At the same time, the Rockers had comandeered a cab and were trying to find the train station, albeit without much success "Hey Spud, you gotta give me some directions dude."
"I checked the box man, there isn't any map or anything." Spud told him, and then he just strapped on his headphone and leaned back.
"Hey come on dude, we gotta- Oh the hell with it." so then Rock glanced back at the cab driver, only to immediately be met with him sputtering in French and then handing him a map "Okay, thanks dude." so he pulled it out and read over it for a moment, then glanced ahead to where the train station lay in front of them "Alright, there it is! You better hold on guys, I saw this in a movie once. ROCK AND ROLL!" and with one hand being used to make the Devil Horn hand sign, he used his other hand to spin the wheel, sending the taxi spinning around through the street until it hit the sidewalk and screeched to a halt with a loud thud "Alright, that was totally awesome! We gotta do that as our entrance the next time we do a concert for Devil Frog!" he glanced back to see the taxi driver puking out the side of the cab window "Eesh, what happened to you man?"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"While Owen and Noah of the Reality TV Pros are the last team to take off from the starting line, the first six teams to arrive at the train station, those being the Ice Dancers, the Rockers, the Best Friends, the Performers, Father & Son and the Surfers are leaving the station even as we speak, on board the first train to Calanque de Maubois. With this set in stone, the 12 remaining teams will have to race to the station and catch the next train heading South."
"Oh yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to this." Jen glanced over at Tom as they worked on fixing their makeup during their cab ride "The South of France is where some of the most glamorous people in the world are known to hang out, it's like Paris but the lipstick everyone wears down there is a lot glossier."
"Oh yeah, without a shadow of a doubt." then Tom suddenly let out a horrified gasp "Oh no, oh god no, please tell me that I have it!"
"Have what?"
"I think you know what!" then he suddenly pulled out a can of spray "Oh good, that's way too much of a relief. You want some spray tan?"
"As if you had to ask."
"I'm going to take that as a yes." and cue the spray that left a large trail of stream trailing behind the cab.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, in another curb…
"It seems the rest of the teams are decreasing the distance between us." Ellody glanced out the window of her cab, then glanced over at Mary "I suppose this means we'll have to increase our lead over the remaining teams."
"Indeed." so with that in mind, Mary glanced over at the driver "Take Lefran to Canal."
"Canal to Germain."
"Germain to Belmont."
"Then take a left on Legrande."
"Reverse onto Berrault."
"And then make a u-turn back to Legrande South to Dunkerque." Ellody paused, then glanced back over at Mary "I'm beginning to understand why the two of us weren't particularly popular when we were in high school, but I still believe that memorizing the street maps of every urban center can be just as fun as going to parties."
"And the same goes for going on dates, and being a cheerleader, and taking electives that don't relate to science."
"In any case, our choices are finally paying off. The two of us combining our intelligence will be able to outthink all of the other teams. After all, I highly doubt that any of the other teams are made up of anyone that can match our intellect."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
And now for the one guy who can match and surpass their intellect…
"Based on our current location, I believe I know the best route for us to take in the smallest amount of time." with that in mind, Cameron glanced ahead at the cab driver "I believe the best route for you to take Lefran to Canal, then take Canal to Germain, take Germain to Belmont, then take a left on Legrande, reverse onto Berrault, and finally take a u-turn back to Legrande heading South to Dunkerque." he was met with a raised eyebrow from the cab driver "Spending 16 years living in a bubble away from the outside world, I find that I had a great deal of time on my hands, part of which I had used to memorize the street maps of every urban center, in anticipation that I would one day need it."
"As if Lightning cares about that, all Lightning needs is to show everyone why he's the best there is at what he does!" and then Lightning started flexing his biceps, earning a few raised eyebrows from both Cameron and the taxi driver "What?"
"You seem… rather interested in trying to demonstrate your capabilities to everyone else. Are you trying to prove something?"
"Lighting doesn't need to prove anything to anyone, all he wants to do is show everyone why he's the best there is at what he does, but everyone else just keeps getting in the way."
Cameron said nothing, he just shared a look with the taxi driver, then glanced over at the camera, and leaned back into his seat in silence.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, in another cab (with the Sisters)…
"Aw crap, I knew I forgot something." thinking quick, Kitty pulled out her cell phone and held it out to the cab driver "I hate to ask, but do you think that you could take a picture of me and my sister?"
"Oh you've gotta be kidding me." Emma's ever present scowl deepened somewhat "Don't forget that we're in the middle of a race Kitty, this isn't just some vacation."
"Yeah well, what's the harm with getting just one picture of me and my big sister going to France for the first time? Now say Paris!" on that note, Kitty pulled Emma in and took the chance to take a selfie, earning a loud groan from Emma "What?"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the train station…
"Huh, pretty cool." Lorenzo glanced up at the poster in front of him, and at the sound of heavy panting he glanced over to see Chet show up, sweaty and exhausted, and he promptly gave him a certain finger gesture "I told you that we should've taken the subway but no, you had to go and take a taxi."
"Oh yeah?" Chet shot him a dirty look "Well here's something I wanna tell you, the time that I wasn't stuck with you was the best part of this whole stupid race so far!"
"Yeah well guess what fatass, the part of my life where you were never in it was the best part of my life so far!" and then the two of them started beating each other up.
On the other end of the platform, Cameron had taken notice of Jen and Tom, as well as their spray tans "I hate to judge, but it seems as though your skin pigmentation appears to have received a great deal too much of dihydroxyacetone." he was met with a few confused looks.
"This is rather peculiar." this was when Ellody and Mary got his attention "Neither of us had ever predicted that there would be anyone from the other teams with a high enough intellect to observe the signs of overexposure to dihydroxyacetone."
"It's not that difficult to notice, you just have to observe the pigmentation of their skin. If you wish for something significantly challenging however, I recommend taking a look at some of the more defined details of quantum physics."
"A rather intriguing prospect I have to say. In fact…" and then the three of them started talking about science and other nerd culture.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"As the second group of teams is left waiting at the station for the next train, the first train carrying the six frontrunner teams has just arrived at the station in Calanque de Maubois, and begin the search for their next travel tip."
"There's the Don Box!" Bridgette and Geoff rushed across the platform with the other teams right behind him, and the former pulled out a tip "It's a Botch or Watch, so whose turn is it supposed to be this time?"
"It's my turn, so go ahead and hit me babe. What do I have to do?" asked Geoff.
"It says here that you're gonna have to swim with… sharks."
"...You're gonna have to hold my hat for this one babe."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"In this Botch or Watch challenge, one of the many reasons why we had the teams sign wavers before they could sign up for this show, whichever member of each team didn't draw the caricature in Paris will have to swim out to a section of the Mediterranean and retrieve one of the travel tips that we've attached to the dorsal fin of one of many great white sharks. Too bad they didn't dare to try and go after me, or else they would have to get a taste of the widowmaker. Yeah, they wouldn't last against me."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Now back to the frontrunner teams…
"And it says that if one us gets eaten, then our team will be disqualified." Trent finished reading the tip in his hand, and he promptly shot a dull look at Leshawna "Well at least they thought this all the way through, can't say the same for McLean though."
"At least you don't have to go out there." Leshawna let out a low growl as she made her way toward the water with a fire in her eyes.
"...I personally feel bad for the sharks."
"I'll be right back homie, I hope anyway." Devin swallowed a lump in his throat, and he made his way into the water.
"Just watch this man, I'm gonna crush it. ROCK AND ROLL!" Rock dealt Spud a fist bump and made his way into the water.
"Hold my hat babe, I'm going in." Geoff handed his cowboy hat to Bridgete and gave her his typical cheerful grin, then made his way into the water, with Dwayne doggy-paddling not too far behind him.
All the while, Bridgette let out a sigh as she held the hat in her arms "Just don't do anything too crazy out there."
"I wouldn't worry about that." Carrie glanced over at her and shot her a smile "The only time he really gets crazy is at parties, like that one time at New Years."
"Yeah, I thought we agreed never to discuss that." the two of them burst out laughing and then promptly shared a hug "It's great to see you sis."
"Yeah, you too. So things are going well between you and Devin?"
"Well, they're… about the same. With Shelley in the mix."
"Ah. Don't worry, the best thing you can do for Devin is just keep being there for him."
"I know, it's just… it's not easy when you love someone who doesn't love you back. I have to be honest with you Bridge… What you and Geoff have, what so many others have, just the one and the chance to be with them… I want that. I want what you have. I keep waiting for it to happen, for the chance to make it happen, and… I guess I'm just sick of waiting for it."
"I understand how you feel sis, believe me I do. I know how it feels to be tired of waiting, and you probably will have to wait for a little bit longer, but good things come to those who wait. You just have to give it time to make it happen." and then the two of them shared another hug.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, in the shark infested waters…
"Okay, time to recap…" Dwayne was left slowly doggy-paddling after the other teams, his mind racing as he did so "So as it turns out, swimming into water infested with man-eating sharks is a lot harder on the old body than being stuck sitting at a desk all day. Who would've thought."
"Anyone who knows how it feels to aim for the gold, now out of the way!" Josee gracefully swam past him, then launched herself over one of the sharks in a beautiful backflip, allowing her to grab the tip from the fin of that shark and start swimming her way back to the beach.
"Woah, that's… that's pretty cool."
"I'll say, that's some really nice moves." Devin took the chance to make his way towards another nearby shark, and he reached to grab the travel tip, when…
"Sorry bro!" Geoff suddenly pounced on the shark and started wrestling in an attempt to grab the tip from it, getting dunked in and out of the water as he did so "You gotta… grab a… shark by… the horns… Gotta go!" and so the shark leapt away with Geoff still holding onto it.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"As the six teams that arrived on the first train continue their battle with the tough of the aquatic food chain, the second train carrying the next five teams arrives at the station and begin the search for their next travel tip."
"To think I'm actuall on the shores of Calanque de Maubois, I've never seen an actual beach like this before." Cameron was left in awe at the sight before him, only to notice something wrong as he watched the other teams get off the train "I thought there were five teams on board, but aside from us I only notice four."
"Who cares, less teams means less losers we gotta beat, now Lightning is about to strike and take home the win!" Lightning bolted to the Don Box and pulled out a tip, with Cameron and the rest of the teams following right behind him.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, in the shark-infested water…
"Okay, I guess I've gotta go for it. Like that movie said, 20 seconds of courage." Devin took a deep breath and submerged himself, and in one swift movement he grabbed the tip from the fin of a shark, which also attracted its attention towards him, which prompted him to swim away while screaming in terror, leaving his tip behind in the process.
One good thing did come out of it though, as indicated by the fact that Dwayne was able to pick up the travel tip in his place "Alright, that's one for the Dwayne man!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
(Confessional)
"Not gonna lie, I definitely didn't see that coming." Junior let out a low whistle "I have to admit though, I actually am kind of proud of my dad right now. It has to take a lot of guts to swim out towards a shark like that."
"You say that like it's some kind of huge surprise." Dwayne let out a chuckle "I mean come on now son, this isn't your dad's first shark rodeo pal."
"I'm sure." note the sarcasm in his tone.
"I'm serious, if anything those sharks should've been scared of the Dwayne man!" and then he started throwing a few punches and kicks, only to end up accidentally hitting the camera guy, breaking the camera in the process "Oh man sorry about that, are you okay?" he was met with a loud groan.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the second group of teams…
"You gotta be freaking kidding me." Chet shot a dirty look at Lorenzo as he made his way into the water "You draw a caricature of the better looking of the two of us, while I have to swallow my own barf and swim with a pack of sharks?"
"Yeah well, it's only unfair if you're you." Lorenzo let out a chuckle and shot him a certain finger gesture "Now get to it, I'm not coming in last because you're such a (bleep) up!"
"Next time I'm dragging you in with me!" Chet was about to swim out towards the sharks, only to be stopped by a loud horn ringing out nearby "What the-?"
"Hi everyone, hope all of you didn't miss us too bad!" as it turns out, it was Tom and Jen riding onto the scene on the edge of a yacht.
"I thought one of the other teams was missing." Cameron glanced over at them with a raised eyebrow as he watched Lightning dive into the water "Where did you two go?"
"We stepped off the train in Cannes just to take the chance to breath it in, and standing right there on the platform is the Prince of Monaco himself! He asked us where we were heading, and then one thing leads to another, and we get a yacht ride with a prince! Which reminds me, thanks so much for the ride your highness!" Tom and Jen waved as they were about to disembark, only for one of the sharks to leap up out of the water in front of them, scaring Tom into Jen's arms while he was screaming in terror.
"Yes, well… perhaps you should acquire one of the travel tips."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, on another part of the beach (with the Ice Dancers)…
"And there she goes…" Jacques let out a wistful sigh as he watched Josee gracefully make her way back to the shore with her tip in hand "She continuously exudes such beauty, grace and strength unrivalled. Every move that she makes causes her to look more and more like a swan that makes other swans look ugly by comparison." he promptly let out a yelp as he was bitten on the ass by an offended swan "I said by comparison!" the swan moved in to bite him again "Alright fine, I take it back and you're beautiful in your own way. Are you happy now?"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the current frontrunner team…
"Oh god… oh god…" despite going under every few seconds, Dwayne managed to paddle his way back to the shore with his tip in hand, though he was left coughing up a considerable amount of water as a result, and he spared a quick glance over at Junior "Go get a bucket… it says we have to… build a castle…"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"Dwayne might be left somewhat waterlogged, but that doesn't mean he's wrong. For the second challenge of the day, which is an All In by the way, each team will have to build a sand replica of the Palace of Versailles, and when the local sand castle prodigy by the name of Sandy McCastles, which is probably a fake name, makes the call that their castle is good enough, that's when he'll hand over the next travel tip."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, in the shark-infested waters…
"Yeah, now how do you like that one you overgrown guppy?!" Leshawna burst out of the water, covered in bite marks and scratches but with a tip in hand, and then she glanced over to see Mary rise out of the water holding a magnet, which was enough to scare the sharks away, much to the surprise of her and everyone else "What in the- How the hell did she do that?!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
(Confessional)
"I know what you're thinking, and no it's not me that sharks are afraid of." Mary gave a shrug as she held up a magnet "Magnets on the other hand, that's another story. Well technically it wouldn't be accurate to say that's fear, I was simply being facetious. You see, metals that are charged in salt water create a weak electrical field that has the ability to disrupt the electroreception senses of a shark. Oh wait I should explain, salt water is an ionic solution and it contains particles that also have unpaired electrons. I wish I had a dry erase board so that I would be able to explain all of this in greater detail."
"Speaking of dry, you think we could cut to something that won't put our viewers to sleep? I mean seriously, even I find this so boring it's mind numbing."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
And now for something more exciting…
"Alright, I'm about to bring this puppy back alive!" Devin rose out from beneath the water with a tip in hand, only to be met with a shark rising up from beneath him "Uh… aw crapbaskets." and he was promptly sent swimming away screaming in terror, but at least this time he was able to hold onto his tip.
"Yeah, now how do you like that one ya stupid fish?!" Lightning snatched the tip from the fin of the shark in front of him, only to be met with the shark slapping him with its tail and sending him hurtling towards the shore "Sha-mommy…"
"Okay now see, that's more like it."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"But moving on from that, the third train has arrived carrying the last batch of teams, consisting of the Vegans, the Sisters, Mother & Daughter, the Adversity Twins and the Reality TV Pros. At the same time, as more of the frontrunner teams are getting started on the second challenge, two of the teams, those being the Surfers and the Rockers, are still struggling to finish the first one."
"Hey come on shark dude, would it kill you to at least chase me toward the shore?" as it turns out, both Geoff and Rock were being chased by one particularly stubborn shark "Well this could've been going better."
"I know what you mean dude." Rock let out a groan "And here I said that I would do pretty much anything to win the race."
"I know that feeling too bro. The name is Geoff by the way, and my girl back on the beach over there is Bridgette."
"Call me Rock, and the dude with the headphones buried in the sand is Spud." the two of them shared a fist bump.
"So what are you in this for?"
"It's mostly because I want to win the money for my parents. I mean the two of them aren't getting any younger, and they really want me to get out of their basement. If I'm win then I'm gonna get my own place!"
"Nice!"
"Right? So what about you?"
"I'm in this so I can have some hardcore fun with Bridge, and well…" he blushed slightly "If I win the money, I kind of… wanna ask her something I've been thinking about for awhile. Sort of pop the big question if you know what I mean."
"Ah, going for the big one huh? Good luck with it man, and don't worry, I'm not gonna ruin it for ya. Bros before all else right?"
"Thanks man, I'll remember that." the two of them shared a high five, and then they looked over to see Crimson rise up from the water just enough to scare a shark into giving her its travel tip "Okay, that's both cool and terrifying."
"Tell me about it."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, on the beach…
"I don't know about this…" Trent looked at the half-finished sand castle in front of him, then glanced over at Leshawna "Are you sure this thing has to be so big?"
"You wanna take chances on getting kicked into last?" Leshawna shot him a dry look "Go big or go home on shows like this, I've been on plenty so I know what I'm talking about."
"Alright if you say so, I mean what's the worst that could happen?"
"We come in last and get kicked off."
"That was a rhetorical question."
"And I gave you a rhetorical answer."
"...That feels kind of weird, but okay."
On the other end of the beach, Cameron was now engaged in a conversation with Ellody while she and Mary were working on a series of equations written in the sand "So in an isolated system, the particles are able to co-exist in a stable phase relationship."
"And if the system is interfered with, then that stability will turn into chaos." Ellody finished for him "Such a thing is as dangerous as it is unpredictable, but at the same time it can also be a sight for one to behold."
"And so isolated completely, a quantum system would be able to revert back to separate states of matter, each of them being tangled with a distinct state of its environment. So in other words, the object in question would be both in and our of phase with multiple parallel realities."
"I have to say, it is quite the surprise that I would find an intellectual equal. Perhaps we should continue with our discussions at a later date."
"I would enjoy that." the two of them shared a smile, but then Cameron noticed something "So why exactly are you and your partner writing so many equations in the sand? I believe that the challenge was to create a sand castle."
"Well of course, but myself and Mary are scientists, and we understand just how fundamentally important the planning stage is in any process. We are building a sand castle, so this can't be counted as simple child's play."
"I'm fairly certain it can be and is, but there is one factor that you may have failed to take into consideration in your planning stage."
"Which is?"
"I've experienced what it's like to be on a show like this before, so I understand that regardless of what may be considered in the planning stage, they don't account for everything, and you have to be able to improvise. After all, you never know when-"
"Hey smart guy, get over here!" Lightning suddenly stormed up to him looking mad as hell.
"What's the matter?"
"Lightning went ahead and finished the castle but the little midget said it wasn't good enough, like he knows anything about how good Lightning is!" he was met with a shovel hitting him in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground.
"...As I was saying, you never know when something like that is going to happen, and you have to work around it." on that note, Cameron started working on a new sandcastle, leaving the Geniuses to work on their data and Lightning unconscious on the beach.

Meanwhile, in the shark-infested waters…
"Alright!" Owen held up a travel tip in triumph, only to suddenly realize that he was being circled and surrounded by three sharks, and he let out a nervous chuckle "I don't suppose there's any chance that the three of you are dolphins? No come on Owen, think about this. You heard a few times that sharks can smell fear, or was it dogs that can smell it?"
"Doesn't matter, just man up and do it!" Emma called out to him from where she was chasing after one of the sharks and trying to grab hold of a travel tip "Frankly I'm just glad it's me in the water and not my sister, because if anything happened to her out here…"
"You'd never be able to forgive yourself?"
"I was going to say that they would disqualify us immediately."
"...Wow, that's pretty cold."
"Perhaps, but maybe she has a gentle side, like these majestic creatures." Miles drew their attention to where she was gently petting on of the sharks, leaving it docile to her "If my team wins the prize money, then I'm going to start a charity dedicated to the preservation of these creatures that are so misunderstood." she grabbed her tip from the fin of the shark, only for it to turn on her and send her swimming away while screaming in terror "New plan, I'm totally scratching sharks off of my preservation list!"
"Uh… Yeah, I'm gonna try and find a way out of this. Speaking of which, hey Geoff!"
"Hey Owen my man!" Geoff gave a wave from where he was being chased by a shark "You doing okay over there?"
"Yeah, what about you?"
"Well my grandmother told me once, if you swim into the mouth of a shark then you just gotta keep on swimming!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"By this point, all of the remaining teams have reunited with their partners and begun to work on their sand chateaus, with the exceptions being Geoff and Bridgette."
"Alright that's done, so where is he? Hey little judge, tiny opinionated man? We're done with our castle!" Dwayne drew the attention of the judge to their tiny castle resting on a pile of sand, and he was promptly handed a tip "Alright, now that's what I'm talking about!"
"So what do we do now?" asked Junior.
"Let's see here, it says that we have to grab one of the speedboats they have parked at the dock and follow the GPS provided until we reach the Chill Zone, which is set up on a dock located on the Southern tip of… Iceland?"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"Yep you heard Dwayne right, the tip said Iceland. The Southern most dock of the frigid island in question is the location for the finish line of this segment of the race. As is pretty much the status quo by now, the last team that meets me on the Carpet of Completion may be cut from the race entirely."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, on the beach in France…
"Come on son hurry, we gotta get moving!" with their travel tip in hand, Dwayne and Junior both took off for the dock.
"Huh, I guess they're done already." Kitty watched as Father & Son took off, then glanced over at the castle they left behind "Hey that's so cool, check out the cute little castle they made."
"Wait what?" Leshawna poked her head out from the castle she was building, and her jaw dropped at the sight of it "You gotta be freaking kidding me, it doesn't have to be big?!"
"I guess not."
"And to be fair, they never sad it had to be big." Trent pointed out "You're the one who said go big or go home, if anything I was just following your lead."
"True."
"New plan, it doesn't have to be big." Emma shared a look with Kitty, and the two of them began to make adjustments to their own sandcastle.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the dock…
"Alright let's go, first place here we come!" Dwayne and Junior leapt into one of the speedboats at the dock and the former tried to turn it on, only to find that it wouldn't start "Come on, come on already!"
"Forget it, we should just grab a different boat." Junior told him.
"Hey come on son, no need to worry about it." Dwayne promptly made his way to the back of the boat and started looking over the engine "You just have to… adjust the choke thing mechanism and stuff."
"Not a chance, there's no bway I'm having a repeat of what you did to my bike."
"Oh come on, you're blowing that way out of proportion."
"Am I? Dad all you were trying to do was attach a bell to my bike, and then by the time you were done with it the wheels were gone. Just gone."
"Hey you know as well as I do that it was one of those Swedish bells, they instructions themselves were very tricky and I had to take the whole bike apart to figure it out. Hey by the way, was that the Summer you had to walk everywhere."
"Yes, yes it was. You know what hold on a second, you have to turn they key and then press the start button." and then he proceeded to turn the boat on the right way, taking Dwayne by surprise as he did so.
"Huh. I guess it must be one of those Swedish boats that are so hard to figure out. Okay just step away from the wheel, I'll go ahead and drive-"
"No time for that dad, I'll drive so you can hang back and keep a lookout for any of the other teams!" and so they took off, with Junior being the one behind the wheel.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the shore…
"Geoff are you okay?" Bridgette rushed towards the water, only to see Geoff walk out of the water with his top half being eaten by the shark "Geoff!"
"It's alright babe, I'm cool…" Geoff fell to the ground with a thud, and the shark promptly spat him all the way out "You know something, the crazy part is that actually hurts a lot less than the time I got attacked by a bunch of beavers back on Wawanakwa."
"You sure you okay? You look a little bit out of it."
"Yeah I'm fine, and I've had way worse. Plus that in itself was actually pretty wild, now let's do this babe!" and so the two of them rushed off to get started just as the Fashion Bloggers received their travel tip and took off to find a boat, with the Best Friends, Ice Dancers, Brains & Brawn and a few others following close behind them "So we gotta build a sandcastle? No problem babe, I used to do this with my brothers back home all the time!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the frontrunner teams…
"Alright we got a boat, now let's go!" Trent and Leshawna leapt into a boat and took off in the direction of Iceland alongside the Best Friends, Stepbrothers, Rockers and Ice Dancers, only for a loud sputtering noise to get their attention "Aw crap, that's not good."
"Please tell me that's just your stomach or your brain." Leshawna grumbled.
"Nope, we go any faster than this with the motor like that and it'll probably die. Leshawna change of plans, you're gonna have to take the wheel while I try and fix the problem."
"You know how to do that?"
"I spent a lot of time with Cody back during the days of the Drama Brothers, I like to think at least some of his skills rubbed off on me. I hope. But please for the love of god, don't try and ram the boat into the Ice Dancers or try and hit them or something."
"What makes you think I'm gonna do something like that? Is that really the kind of person you think I am?" she was met with a dull look from Trent "Okay fine, stupid question."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the Chill Zone…
"Looks like we have our winners." Don was quick to greet the frontrunner team when they finally reached the Chill Zone "Congratulations to you Dwayne and Junior, you're the first team to arrive at this Chill Zone, and that puts you in first place."
"Alright, now that's what I'm talking about!" Dwayne gripped Junior by the shoulds "Yeah that's right, we're the best there is at what we do and there's nothing they can do about it!"
"...Okay, glad to see you're not letting it go to your head or anything. But still, congratulations on your victory." Don then glanced over to see Jacques and Josee rush onto the carpet, smiling and waving as usual "Jacques and Josee, you've come in second." that caused them to freeze but it didn't wipe away their smiles "Huh, you know I was expecting more insanity or some kind of other comical tantrum. Glad to see that you're keeping it professional."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
And now for the exact opposite…
"I! HATE! SILVER!" as was to be expected, Josee started throwing a massive tantrum off screen, including throwing and smashing things.
All the while, Jacques just watched the situation unfold and let out a sigh "Sometimes it's best to just let her get the rage out of her system." and then he promptly walked away.
"The race for first place has ended, and now it's a race to not come in last. At the same time, more and more of the teams are finishing up with their sandcastles and heading for the boats, but one team in particular is getting hung up on… let's just call it other details."
"That should be a satisfactory conclusion." Ellody finished drawing the data out on the sand "This is perfect, approximately 373,996 cubic yards, and now all that we have to do is build the perfect model using our data." but then the data in question was washed away by a way, much to her comical horror "OUR DATA!"
"I suppose we'll just have to wing it." Mary told her.
"But I never wing, I don't know how to!"
"Didn't Cameron tell you that we may have to improvise?"
"But I've never actually done it before!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the Chill Zone…
"And here comes the next batch of teams." Don watched as the next team got out of their boat and walked onto the carpet "Jennifer and Thomas, the two of you have arrived in third place." he was met with squeals of joy from the two of them "But at the same time, you didn't arrive in Calanque de Maubois by train as the tip instructed you to do. You travelled by yacht instead, at least part of the way, so I'm afraid I'll have to give you a 20 minute penalty."
"Oh. Well whatevs." Jen and Tom shared a look and both shrugged "We rode on a yacht, and we partied with a prince on a yacht! He so wishes he was us."
"I wouldn't go that far, now step aside and let other teams through." Don motioned for them to step aside just as Owen and Noah came running onto the scene "Owen and Noah, you're officially in third place."
"YES!" Owen caught Noah in a crushing hug that nearly suffocated him, earning a quiet squeal as a result.
"Yes yes very nice, we've got more incoming."
"We're here!" Rock and Spud burst onto the Carpet of Completion "So how did we do man?"
"The Rockers are in fourth place."
"Alright! ROCK AND ROLL!" and so the two of them shared a high five and started riffing on air guitar.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the beach…
"Okay, we're done." Bridgette finished putting the final touches on the sandcastle in front of her, and then she received the travel tip from the judge "Thanks."
"We got a problem babe, I think we're in last." Geoff gestured around to where all of the other teams had apparently already left.
"Then we just have to hurry and go after them, now let's move babe!" and so the two of them took off running towards the dock.
What neither of them noticed was that Ellody oked her head up from behind the sandcastle that she was working on "Did you hear something?"
"No, now stop getting distracted. You need to focus on the task at hand." Mary told her.
"Of course." and so the two of them got back to it.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the dock…
"Here it is babe, there's only like two left!" Geoff hopped into a boat and helped Bridgette in after him, and the two of them took off towards Iceland "Never! Say! DIE!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the Chill Zone…
"Your 20 minute penalty is up." Don glanced over at the Fashion Bloggers "That puts the two of you in fifth place, and just in time too, because here come the other teams!" he started counting all of them off one by one as they arrived, starting with the Performers "6th place!"
The Best Friends.
"7th place!"
The Goths.
"8th place!"
The Sisters.
"9th place!"
And then two random fat tourists that left everyone confused.
"Who are you, and who are you? Are you two supposed to be on this show?"
The two tourists in question departed just as the Stepbrothers arrived.
"10th place!"
Mother & Daughter.
"11th place!"
The Vegans.
"12th place!"
The Adversity Twins.
"13th place!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, in the Mediterranean sea…
"This could be problematic." Cameron glanced back at the sound of a loud sputtering, only to see black smoke coming out of the boat's engine "I believe this means that our tenure in this race is going to be cut rather short."
"You saying that Lightning is about to lose because of a screwed up motor?" Lightning gritted his teeth and clenched his fist to the point where it was bleeding.
"That is a distinct possibility at the moment. It is fairly upsetting though, to think that a set of unfortunate circumstances are what cause our downfall instead of it being something that either of us had done wrong. All things considered, the two of us have proven to be quite the capable team up until this point, and I wouldn't object to taking part in another-" Cameron was suddenly cut off by Lightning pushing him aside and walking up to the motor, leaving Cameron to take the wheel of the boat in his place "Lightning what are you doing?"
"Lightning swore he ain't ever gonna lose again, and he sure as hell ain't gonna lose because of some stupid boat! Take the wheel smart guy, Lightning's gonna fix this boat himself!"
"...This just went from problematic to potentially catastrophic."
"Sha-BAM!" Lightning gripped one of the wires of the engine, electrocuting him and sending the boat hurtling forward at high speed, only for it to stop after about 10 seconds "Woah… did that make the thing go fast?"
"Yes but it clearly caused you pain, I'd advise against-"
"Sha-BAM!" Lightning gripped the engine again, electrocuting him and sending them hurtling forward in short bursts.
Unfortunately for them, this wasn't enough to stop Bridgette and Geoff from catching up to them at a fairly moderate pace, and then promptly race past them "Hey babe there it is, I can see Iceland ahead!"
"We're gonna cut it pretty close babe, I think we're almost out of gas." Geoff told her, and then the boat started slowing down, and he let out a sigh "Aw man, I never should've let myself get stuck in the mouth of that shark. Now we're gonna get kicked off for sure, and then I'm not gonna be able to ask you-" he was cut off by Bridgette cupping his face and kissing him gently.
"Listen to me sweetie, whatever happens you and I are a team, win or lose, and that's not going to change. When we decided to enter this race, we agreed that we would win with integrity or leave with our heads held high."
"Yeah I know, it's just… Oh hey we're here!" the boat closed in on the dock, and the two of them prepared to take off.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the Chill Zone…
"The Chill Zone could really use a sofa or something is all I'm saying, but that's gonna have to wait for now because here they come!" Don glanced ahead and was quick to greet the next team that reached the Carpet of Completion "Geoff and Bridgette, the two of you were cutting it a bit close, but you're in 14th place."
"YES!" Geoff spun Bridgette around in a hug, and then they started making out as they made their way off the carpet.
"And then there was one."
"We anticipated as much." Cameron let out a sigh as he and Lightning (now increasingly charred, bloodshot and somewhat catatonic) "It's alright Don, we already expect what you're going to say to us, so please just go ahead and then we'll be on our way."
"Taking it with dignity, I can respect that. Cameron, Lightning, I'm sorry to have to say this, but the two of you are… second to last place, aka 15th place, which means that the two of you are still in the race!" that was enough to take Cameron by surprise.
"This is amazing! Lightning did you hear that?" Cameron patted Lightning on the shoulder, only to end up getting shocked by him "Ow… Perhaps I should take him to receive medical attetnion in regards to his… current situation."
"Yeah, you go ahead and do that, and in the meantime I have to go and confront our last place team."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, at the beach in France…
"Ahoy Geniuses!" as the sun continued setting over the skies of France, Don descended onto the scene in a helicopter and promptly called out to the Geniuses, who were still working on their sandcastle "I'm afraid that all of the other teams have reached the Chill Zone, and that means the two of you have been cut from the race! I'm in a helicopter, this is so cool!" and then he flew off back towards Iceland.
"...Well that was unanticipated." Ellody shared a glance with Mary, and the two of them shared a shrug as they started walking down the beach "It is quite ironic though, our strength in the area of urban planning also turned out to be the element of our downfall."
"But at the same time, it just proves our flawed this show truly is." Mary pointed out "But in any case, the two of us had played our part."
"That is true, although I suppose that geniuses aren't always as intelligent as they may believe themselves to be." the two of them burst out laughing as they walked into the sunset.
"You told a joke."
"I did."
"Wonderful."
"Affirmative."
A/N:
Another chapter comes and not much changes, but even the smallest changes are still worth noting, I'm sure plenty of you will agree with that. One of the changes in question is that I removed the penalty that Father & Son received, and instead let them take the win for this leg of the race. I always thought that they deserved to win at least one leg of the race, rather than just have them get screwed over in order to give the Ice Dancers their first win.
On another note, one other change from canon, not really sure how significant it is in the grand scheme of things, but I think it's at least worth noting, is some interesting new character interactions I decided to include. In this case, I had Cameron interact with and befriend Ellody and Mary of the Geniuses. Truth be told, the interactions they share are something that we all probably should've seen coming since the first chapter, myself included. However, despite all of them being intelligent, as far as this competition goes, Cameron has two advantages over the Geniuses: One, he has a powerhouse like Lightning to help him. Two, he has experience in a reality TV competition, whereas the Geniuses don't. Oh, and as a little side note, I did a little bit of teasing Cameron and Ellody.
One other set of character interactions that I finally got to show is between Carrie and Bridgette, which is especially important since I carry the headcanon of the two of them being twin sisters, and I get to show how in this fic, Carrie finds the love between Geoff and Bridgette to be a sort of inspiration for her, which you have to admit it is on at least a few levels. Oh yeah, and I get to have a little bit of interaction between the Surfers and the Rockers, or at least one member from each team. Others include the likes of the teams include the likes of Geoff and Owen, as well as Owen with Emma and Miles.
Oh, and just out of curiosity, how many of you know where the phrase "20 seconds of courage" that Devin used came from? I'm eager to see how many of you figure it out.
