Pairing: Hermione Granger/Harry Potter

Rating: General

Summary: Over the years, kisses for luck had become their tradition. Before tests and quidditch games. Facing Voldemort would be no exception. Part of the Kiss Me Lucky collection.

As Voldemort's voice echoed one final time across the grounds, Harry turned to Hermione expectantly.

"Don't I get a kiss for luck?" he asked, making her sob a laugh. "It's tradition after all."

And it was their tradition starting all the way back in fourth year. If she blocked out the noise and din around them, she could almost pretend she was fussing over his broom and sending him to face a dragon. The last three years were filled with good luck kisses before tests and quidditch matches. This time though, she wasn't sure he'd come back.

The tradition had come a long way from deep blushes and awkwardly bumping noses. Now they moved in a familiar rhythm of hands and tongues and lips crashing together over and over again. Just as Hermione thought her knees may give, her back pressed into a solid wall supporting her. Because Harry knew her that well. Tears burned tracks down her cheeks, falling to their joined lips and making the kiss salty. A whimper escaped her as he gently cradled her face and pulled away. Looking into the green eyes that had mesmerized her for years, she knew there would be no talking him out of this. Harry had made up his mind long ago about the final fight. She wouldn't be able to talk him out of it, only hope he made it to the other side of this.

"You know what that means," she whispered through tears.

"That I come back because now, I have all the luck I need."
