Around noon, Katara finally went to sleep. Katara really is in such pain. She didn't seem this hurt in Ba Sing Se. Maybe my presence brought back all those memories she locked away. Maybe, she holds a grudge against me because of what happened then. I couldn't stop it, so it's best if I help her finish it.

Katara's mother reminds me of mine. My mother left to protect me, so Uncle says. Katara's mother left to protect her. They are both brave people. They both deserved better. Katara deserves better.

"There it is!" I called to wake up Katara. I tossed my telescope back to her. "Whaletail island. We're here."

"What are those flags?" Katara asked.

"Those are Sea Raven flags. Those are the Southern Raiders."

"Let's do this," Katara said.

Aapa floated under water so Katara Waterbended an air bubble. We pulled in close to a ship to take out some soldiers. Katara uses Waterbending to drag him into the water. I raise Aapa back above the water. Katara made waves tilt the ship. The soldiers tried to get off. They were blasted into the water as the ship turned over. I land Aapa on a nearby rock and we head inside.

Katara made water arms, which I have to admit, look pretty cool. A soldier came out of his cabin but I pushed him back in and locked the door. He banged on it as we passed. We stopped in front of the control room. "This is it, Katara. Are you ready?" I asked.

Katara said nothing, but broke down the door with her Waterbending. The commander turned around. "Wh-who are you?" you asked, stunned.

"Don't you remember her?" I asked. He shook his head. "You will soon."

"What...is happening to me?" he asked. He bent down to the ground. He's not doing that himself? I look at Katara, who seems to be Waterbending but...there's no water. Is...is she bending his blood? She could do that? She could've killed me!

I shake it off. That's beside the point. "Think back to your last raid on the Southern Water Tribe," I said, looking back at him.

"I...I don't know what you're talking about!" he cried.

"Don't lie to me!" I said, getting closer to him. "You look her in the eye and tell me you remember!" He fell to his knees and looked up. I still can't believe Katara is doing that. How am I not dead? "That's not him," Katara said. She loosened her grip on him. "What do you mean that's not him?" I asked. "He's the commander of the Southern Raiders!" She said nothing as she walked out the door.

I turned around and pinned the commander to the wall. "If you're not him, then where is he?" I asked.

"You must be looking for Yon Rha. H-he retired years ago."

"Where is he?"

"He's not far from here. Just inside the town. He has a small house on a hill inside."

I dropped him and left for Katara. She is on her knees outside. "Katara," I said. She stood up quickly. "He said that we need to head to town. He could be there."

She said nothing but nodded. Was she crying when I came out? We head into town and hide behind a stand when we see someone coming up a hill. "Is that him?" I whispered.

"I don't know," Katara said. "I can't see him."

"I got it," I replied. I sneak over to another stand, keeping my eye on him. I stop behind a stand with wind chimes. I touch it. He looks behind him. Katara came up next to me. "That was him. That's the monster."

We follow him down the hill as he leaves the street. I hide behind a tree while Katara traps him with a wire. "Nobody sneaks up on me without getting burned!" he exclaimed, dropping his vegetables. He Firebends at a bush. He paused and picked up his vegetables again. He tripped on Katara's wire. He dodged my fire. "We weren't in the bush," I said as I walked up to him. "I wouldn't try Firebending again if I were you."

"Whoever you are, take my money! Take whatever you want! I'll cooperate!" he cried, blocking his face. Katara walked up to him. "Do you know who I am?"

"No. I don't think so," Yon Rha said.

"You better remember like your life depends on it!" she yelled. "Why don't you take a closer look?"

"You're that little Water Tribe girl!"

Rain began to fall. "You're mother was the last Waterbender so we took her away." Katara turned away. "She lied to you! She was protecting the last Waterbender."

"What?" Yon Rha asked. "Who?" Katara turned back around. "Me!" Katara held up her arms. She...suspended the rain?! How long has she been able to do that? She could bend blood and suspend rain? How am I not dead? She could've easily killed me! Why didn't she? Did she see something in me? IS it because she knew Aang had to learn Firebending? Is it because everyone trusted me already?

"I know I did a bad thing! You deserve revenge so why don't you take my mother! That's fair!" Yon Rha suggested. Katara dropped the icicles. "I've always wondered what kind of person could do such a thing. Now I see it. You're empty, pathetic, and sad."

"Please spare me!" Yon Rha cried.

"As much as I hate you...I...just can't do it," Katara said. Katara walked away. I watched her leave. Then I turn around and shoot Yon Rha a dirty look. "I have my eye on you," I said. I followed Katara. Katara stopped somewhere away from the house. "Zuko..." she said. "Why...couldn't I do it? Why couldn't I kill him?"

"Katara..." I paused. I had to think. Why couldn't she do it? Maybe Aang was right. Maybe the answer isn't violence. But...that's all I was taught to do. I was taught to take revenge on those who hurt me. "Katara, I think your mother was telling you not to."

"My mother?" she asked. "But, my mother's gone. She...isn't alive anymore. She's not here."

"Katara, just because she isn't here, doesn't mean she's gone."
