Check-Up:

Jack sat in the passenger seat of the ZBI issued SUV. In the driver seat sat Sky, who just finished eating through a small bag of potato chips, one of the many junk food items they had in the car. They sat watching the outside of what was an abandoned hospital, or so it was to appear. According to the information they received from Nick, the place being been operating as a hospital to treat criminals.

"Jack," came Skye, speaking in a soft spoken tone. "What are we doing here again?"

"Nick said that the building been operating as an hospital for criminals to come and get treatment. That also includes the main supplier of Blue Sky in Zootopia and everywhere else," Jack said. "And from what he told me, this Shere Khana frequents the hospital often. Something to do with the tiger's hands. And, if what Nick says is true, then there is a whole record room filled with every criminal that comes to be fixed up."

"But it has been days now, and we still don't have a reason to run in and arrest some mammal."

Jack gave a long sigh. He hated admitting it, but she was right. It has been days since getting in contact with Nick and having nothing to show. Looking around the car, Jack noticed the pile of ketchup packets and tape recorder.

"Then perhaps it's time we create a reason to go in," said Jack and grabbed the ketchup packets and tape recorder.

He unbutton his suit jacket and tossed it in the back of the SUV and anything that gave him away as a federal agent. He tore the sleeves on his white button up shirt and ruffled up the fur on top his head. He took off his gun holster and pocketed his gun in the back of his pants. He found some tape and was able to secure the recorder to his chest. Next, with the packets of ketchup, he splattered the packets under his left arm and smeared them down his shirt.

"Give me some money" demanded Jack.

"What for?" asked Skye, but Jack did not answer. Skye gives Jack a few dollar bills, which he stains red with ketchup.

"Okay, follow my lead." Jack hops out of the SUV.

"Wait Jack," Skye said, but Jack was already gone.

Jack ran up to the hospital doors and entered. The hospital was old and had a musty smell. Jack shouted for help, to attrac anybody in the hospital. A female honey badger ran out of a room to his aid.

"Oh thank God," Jack said. "Listen. I've been hurt real bad" Jack lifts up his ketchup stained hands pretending for it to be blood. "I can't go to any hospital. I was told to come here. That they, you, can fix me up no questions asked."

"As long as you have the money to pay for my services, then yes I can fix you up." The female honey badger said.

"Will this do?" he asked and held up the wad of dollar bills. "Should be almost five hundred right there."

"That'll do."

"And do you have a license to fix me up?"

"You think if I still had a license I'd be doing back alley check-ups?" The honey badger snapped a picture of Jack with a polaroid and slid the picture into an empty file. She took the wad of money and stuffed it down the pocket of her lab coat.

"Thank you, that's all I needed to hear." Jack said unbuttoned his shirt showing the recorder and flipped out his badge. The honey badger cursed under her breath. Before she could run, Jack drew his weapon on her. He made her get on her knees, hands behind her head. The hospital doors open for Skye to walk in, having her pistol drawn. Skye takes over apprehending the honey badger, so Jack can take the tape recorder off his chest and set it aside.

Down the hall comes a whistling a happy tune and a loud 'clap!' Turning down the hallway a grey striped aardwolf. He stops in his tracks once seeing Jack and Skye and the honey badger being cuffed, his lighter lit.

Jack and the aardwolf locked eyes with each other all the way down the Hall. With a loud 'clap!' from the aarddwolf's lighter, he snuffed out the flame and took off running down the hall and turning a corner.

"Skye" Jack said, turning to her. She was in mist of putting the badger into handcuffs.

"Go," she said. "I got this."

Jack gave a quick nod and took off sprinting after the aardwolf. Turning down hall after hall. A door at the end of the hall slam shut. Jack ran to the door. Putting his long rabbit ear against the door, Jack hears what sounded like water splashing everywhere. Whatever it was, it wasn't anything good.

Tring to turn the knob was futile. Jack backed up as far as he could and rammed the door with his foot. It barely made a budge, only ended up putting a striking pain through his foot. He backed up again ready for another ram. This time before taking a run, Jack open fired at the door, hoping to weaken the door or at least blow the lock off. With running speed Jack kicked the door. This time the door blew open and large flames shot out. The heat from the flames made Jack fall down and scoot back up against the wall. The entire room set ablaze.

Jack sat there in shock. Watching the flames dance and burn through the files on the shelves. He found himself transported back to being a scared kit inside a burning apartment complex. His heart began to race and feeling his lungs filling up with the black smoke.

Skye rounded the corner to see Jack, backed up against the wall, staring into the flames, petrified. Skye called out to him, but to no degree. His eyes were starring deep into the flames. A fire extinguisher on the wall. Skye grabbed it and started using it to fight the roaring flames.

A window in the corner of the room, Skye saw the aardwolf trying to make his escape. Skye ran over and grabbed the aardwolf's feet. With two hard kicks and the aardwolf kicked himself free of Skye and pull the rest of his body through the window. Looking out the window, Skye could see the aardwolf turn the alleyway corner and getaway scot free.

Flames roared behind her. She picked the fire extinguisher back up and tried fighting off the flames as she made her way back out of the room. Skye kept at spraying the flames. Soon enough they started to dye down. The flames had engulfed everything, making any evidence chard black and unusable. Skye catered to Jack, who had not moved since busting down the door. His eyes still fixated on the chard remains of what would have been hard evidence, now was nothing.

(AN: This is probably some of my worst writing. This chapter was written on the fly and really quick to help progress the story. I hope this chapter doesn't disappoint and I promise a much deeper chapter featuring every major character. Also, we get to finally reveal the issue with Shere Khan's hands.

As always please follow and leave a review.

Till next time,
