(A/N: I said Rejected Proposal was the last short story for the year, but a tragic accident had occurred at Hillcrest Primary School, which is in Tasmania, on 16th December, 2021. I am not sure if it feels appropriate, but I felt a little sympathetic)
Two weeks had now passed since the Oni had been defeated, and Ninjago City was thriving once more. And so, the Ninja decided to show Mantis and Faith the Mega Monster Amusement Park.
Upon arrival, Mantis noticed some people by a wall where many people were placing flowers and cards by. "So, what happened?" He asked, looking at the monument.
Everyone stopped to look at it. "Oh, we forgot it was today." Geoff replied, looking at it through his Sand Sight.
"What is today?" Faith asked.
"10 years ago, a freak wind gust blew a jumping castle into the sky." Jay replied.
"There were 9 kids in it." Kai said as they head for some nearby seats. "5 didn't survive when it landed far into the Sea of Sand."
"And the park's owners didn't put up the castle anymore." Cole said.
"That particular spot where the flowers and sympathy cards are was where the jumping castle was." Geoff said, deactivating his Sand Sight.
"Terribly tragic how it happened." Blake replied and the others nod.
"I almost could've been there, if my father hadn't tumbled from some kids pushing him by accident." Maggie said. "So, in other words, they saved me."
"And I paid the price." Someone replied as they turn to see a young man walking up to them. "I'm proud to see the Ninja and their new friends here for the anniversary."
"It's an honour to be here." Geoff replied.
Mantis moves towards Zane. "Who is he?" He asked.
"Arthur Danes, one of the victims in the accident who survived." He replied.
"And I'm here on behalf of them." Arthur said. "They didn't want to come here as it still traumatised them. I hope you all stay for the candlelight vigil tonight."
"We shall." Lloyd replied.
"Thank you."
Later that night, Arthur did a speech on how 10 years earlier, he and 8 other kids were caught in a terrible gust that blew the jumping castle away from Megamonster Amusement Park which 5 of the kids had tragically died in the process. Some of the kids' parents were also in attendance as they were given some lanterns to light up and let them float away. Followed by Gewuji singing, 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' in the kids' honour, as well as the first responding officers, paramedics and ordinary people, who tried their best to save them. Then came lighting some candles for the fallen kids. It was a peaceful night that Mantis and Faith would remember, as would the Ninja.
