Not that purgatory. No, nothing so tame as that purgatory.
I'm talking about the pirate capital, Purgatory. The only place where captains and crews from different ships can co-exist somewhat peacefully.
When I say peacefully, I, of course, mean that they aren't trying to kill each other.
Immediately.
But in that town, where ale glides down throats and gold slips through fingers, is a man who has seen it all. Everything that a sailor can see, he has. And more.
An old man who once sailed under Zeref, the most feared captain to ever sail the seas. Instead of whiling away his days, happily retired with his riches, he spends his time with the next generation, sharing his knowledge.
Among the crappy chairs and the dirty tables of the Demon's Bar, you can always find him sitting in his corner. Ankles crossed, tankard in hand, he waits patiently. Content to watch the chaos around him, he will sometimes wait hours before speaking a word. But when he does…
Everyone listens.
New sailors, barely wet behind the ears. Seasoned sailors, who've been aboard multiple ships and sailed with multiple captains. Sailors with scars from fights whose stories alone would give you nightmares. Captains, who have sailed across every sea, and even over the edge. Sailors who scoff at the notion of mermaids and sea monsters, and all those other things that go bump in the night.
They all stop to listen. Because he's the only one who tells a very particular story.

I am practically vibrating in my seat right now.
I do not write nearly enough these days. But I have been making time for this one, because the idea has been interrupting my sleep (this isn't the first time) and I want to get it written down.
This is the prologue of a multi-part story. I will be posting the first part within the week, but as a separate story. Mostly because this space is for my one shots, and I have a feeling this one is going to get bigger than I plan- as they all seem to, haha.
So keep an eye out! It will be titled, The Draken.
