The camera opens to the front of the owl house, but the sky is dark and cloudy with the occasional burst of thunder and crackle of lighting. While in the background plays some creepy music that ends with a few notes that are played with chimes.

The camera then cuts to the inside of the owl house in the living room; where Luz is sitting cross-legged on a large, thick book while also recording on her phone King fighting a sock with several duck patterns on it; all while mockingly narrating it like in an old nature documentary the struggle King has found himself in. While Lucia is laying on the couch reading an article on her tablet that covers next-generation cyberware that will enter the market in about three months.

King then tears up the sock and yells out with stomping of the remains of the sock, "where are you now ducky sock."

Luz ends the recording and asks, "so why did you call us here again other than to provide me with a video of what might be the most adorable or saddest fight ever seen."

Lucia marking her place in the article chipped in by saying, "I agree with you, Luz; why did you call us here, senor Meneos." Lucia then smiled knowing King didn't understand Spanish.

King now reminded that he called for Luz and Lucia got up and said, "oh, ya." King then climbed up onto a chest that he is using as a presentation table with a presentation board covered by cloth; then King pointed to both Luz and Lucia and continued with, "humans, Luz and Lucia now that you've both been in the demon realm for a while its time for…" King then grabbed the cloth then removing it dramatically as possible revealed a presentation board with several Judeo-Christian depictions of biblical demons, then in quick succession reached behind the board and pulled out and put on an old lecturer's hat from perhaps the 15th or 16th century and finished with, "…demons 101." King then paced back and forth while talking, "demons like me are grim trickers of the twilight, creatures of sulfur and bone-"

Luz then cuts off King and says, "and cute, little paws." While pointing at King's paws.

Lucia also chipped in with, "she is not wrong, in fact after this lesson could you model for a plushie we could make a fortune with from your adorableness."

King having lost the mood says in a deadpan tone, "and cute, little paws, true and not right now. Now where was I…oh, ya; we only live to create chaos and misery. Our only weaknesses are purified water and passive-aggressive comments sometimes."

Luz looks at a picture of a light green-skinned, four-eyed, bat-eared demon in a cloak with a hurt expression and says, "wow, actual demons must have gone down in quality if passive-aggressive comments can hurt you."

King heard what Luz just said and replies with a serious tone, "even demons can have inner demons." King then tosses the picture aside to display a stylized picture of a demon with light purple skin, an armored shell with a thick sludge dripping from the shell then King resumed the lecture while taking on a dramatic pose, "the most powerful demon is the Snaggleback. He's a-"

Lucia interrupted by saying, "has any of this been verified by any kind of authority, because all of this seems very farfetched."

King held his arms out and said, "of course this has been verified. This information could save your lives one day."

Luz looks at King with a deadpan expression and says, "remember when I killed Adegast. It shouldn't be that hard to kill other demons. That is unless you want to put your lesson to the test." Luz then drew out her mono-knife and showed King his reflection on the blade.

King not wanting to put Luz's thesis to the test says, "fine, don't listen but I'll keep going."

Luz re-sheaths her mono-knife, but before King could continue a loud burst of thunder is heard with a flash of lighting. King then says, "uh, oh; looks like it's gonna rain."

Luz and Lucia both look to King then Lucia asks, "how is the weather of the isles."

King snarkily replies, "go outside and see for yourself."

Luz and Lucia continue to look and King then Luz re-draws her mono-knife while Lucia takes out her X-38 and Luz asked in a voice that held dark intention, "how is the weather, King."

King now feeling absolute terror at what Luz just said and how both Luz and Lucia were looking at him with their weapons at the ready caves and says, "it's not so much weather but rather plagues like…" king then started to list off what he meant by "plagues", "…boiling rain, gore-nados, shale hail, pain-bows-"

Luz and Lucia both put away their weapons while King spoke it was after pain-bows that Luz held up a hand indicating that King could stop. Luz then spoke in a serious tone, "got it the weather here is terrible and shouldn't be taken lightly."

Lucia then got up and after stretching said, "well have fun learning about demons Luz I have to get to work on some stuff." Lucia then left leaving only Luz and King in the living room.

Before King could continue or Luz could say anything to get out of the lecture the door slammed open and Eda ran inside. Eda looking around sees Luz sitting on the ground, King appearing to be giving a lecture on demons, and Lucia at the base of the stairs with all of them looking at Eda who said, "good, all of you are inside."

Opening with cyberpunk elements

Luz and King are on the porch while Eda is standing away from the owl house holding a glowing sphere with a golden translucent dome over herself; while her staff levitated a foot away from her and the ground. Eda then says, "alright until the boiling rain stops no one is going anywhere…"

Luz says in a sarcastic tone, "gee, I never would have guessed that with boiling rain falling from the sky."

Eda rolls her eyes and continues with, "…but this forcefield spell should protect the house until the boiling rain stops."

Hooty then spoke up in an unhappy tone, "hoot, well hurry up with that forcefield that rain is closer to my precious stucco."

Eda unamused says, "ya, ya I got it." Eda then while holding the sphere in one hand and grabbing her staff in the other Eda merged the sphere with the head of her staff; then from the staff came a giant golden translucent sphere that once it covered the entirety of the owl house then took shape around the owl house.

Luz after seeing this says, "impressive, I wonder if this could be done on much larger buildings."

Eda walking back to the owl house tells Luz, "it can, but the larger the building the more magic it takes to create a forcefield." Eda then yawned and about fell if not for Luz who caught her. Eda in a tired tone then said, "ugh, guess that spell took more out of me than I thought."

King was about to say something but stopped when Luz gave him a glare to keep his mouth shut.

Luz holding up Eda says, "let's get you laying down and resting." Luz guides Eda inside and to the couch where Eda is laid down to rest.

Eda then snaps her fingers and in a flash of light Eda is in her nightclothes then says in a relieved tone, "aww."

With Eda now laying on the couch, Luz was about to go to her shared bedroom when King grabbed her leg. Luz sees King giving his best puppy eyes. However, Luz was immune to such displays of cuteness, but not wanting to deal with King's whining lets out a sigh and says, "fine, I'll stay for the lesson."

King now excited about giving a lesson on his species takes Luz back over to where the board was and continues with the lesson.

After several hours of King's demon lessons, Luz stumbles into her shared room and changes into partly into her sleepwear that being just her tank top and socks, then collapses face down into her bedroll with Lucia laying next to her. Lucia seeing that Luz had to endure King's lecture on demons says, "you know you could have just helped with my latest project."

Luz still face down in her bedroll says while slightly muffled, "I know but he gave the puppy eyes and I didn't want to deal with his whining."

Lucia now sitting up on her own bedroll gives a mischievous smile and says, "well, I just finished a new combat drone that may or may not be for you, coco bar."

Luz let out a groan and says, "thank you for the drone and why do you still use that nickname I hate so much."

Lucia still smiling replies, "because I love you; now if you want the drone, I need you for just a minute. Think you can handle that."

Luz remains silent for a few seconds then replies, "let me rest for thirty-five minutes and I'll meet you in your workshop."

Lucia still smiling simply says, "alright."

Luz rested for thirty-five minutes and after waking up; Luz changed into her regular shirt but leaves her socks on and leaves the room to go to Lucias' workshop/clinic.

Entering the room Luz sees that Lucia has cobbled together several computers and other pieces of equipment from the stuff that Eda left around the owl house from the human realm. Luz looking at a monitor bank sees that Lucia is in-putting code for some daemon or program that she's working on. Luz getting an idea; sneaks around Lucia and before she can say or do anything else Lucia whips out her X-38 and points it at Luz before saying, "nice try, I heard the door creak open." Lucia then placed her weapon on the desk and after typing a couple more lines of code she then turns around to look at Luz proper.

Luz crosses her arms over her chest and says while pouting, "why can't I ever get the drop on you."

Lucia smiling replies, "because I have been ambushed before in so many different ways that I'm not so easily snuck up on anymore." Lucia then gestured to a dark blue, metallic box with two optical lenses and was six by five in a half by seven inches with two folded, self-contained, gyroscopic rotor blades on both sides of the box.

Lucia then says with a hint of pride, "now before you even ask. This little number is a combat/support drone…" Lucia points to Luz, "…and you are gonna be the first one to have it."

Luz looks at the drone then to Lucia and says, "and why did you make this. I've done pretty well here without any help from a drone."

Lucia un-impressed with Luz's reply says while listing off her reasons, "you were: chased after and attacked by warden Wraith, caused a prison riot, and was swallowed by a giant octopus-like demon after insulting its product; and that's only here need I go on with back in Night City."

Luz was about to argue but stopped when Lucia gave a cocked eyebrow. Luz realizing that she wouldn't be getting out of this sighed and says, "fine, but if it goes rouge and attacks me or anyone else then that's on you."

Lucia expecting that replies still with a smile, "oh, I know, but no one will be able to trace it back to me because I didn't leave a physical or digital trail to follow. This isn't the first time I've done work like this you know."

Luz knowing just how often Lucia gets dragged into those kinds of jobs asks, "so how does this thing know who's who."

Lucia replies while still working on her computer, "it's a mix of biometric scanning and sensor feedback; as well as reactions of aggression between others. With it prioritizing the subject's safety over others including itself. Though a hint of A.I. with a willingness to self-sacrifice for the safety other others doesn't hurt to drive home the safety of the subject."

Luz stared at Lucia with her mouth open and adopting a slumped posture at what was just said. It was when Lucia stopped working on her computer and turned to see Luz the way she was. Lucia did snapped her fingers in-front of Luz's face which snapped Luz out of her shocked state. Now out of her shocked state Luz said with total surprise in her voice, "so you basically made me a bodyguard because of all the stuff that I got into in the last week… Am I right."

Lucia expecting this replied with a shrug and a simple, "more or less; but it's also so I can test out new stuff that I otherwise wouldn't be able to because of the corps."

Luz now adopting a smile says, "well, let's turn on this little guy."

Lucia turning back to her computer inputs a command and five seconds later the drone turns on and starts to fly with the optical lenses beginning to shine a slightly lighter blue color than the body. Lucia then turns to Luz and says, "alright everything is good to go all that's left to do is to give him a name. Again, before you ask the A.I. identifies as male so come up with a male-ish name at least."

Luz thought it through before settling on a name and looking to the drone says, "your name is Scout."

The drone bobbed in a yes gesture then moved to be behind Luz.

Luz then looked to Lucia but Lucia preemptively spoke, "I couldn't fit a speaker system in without making him too expensive and heavy; and since we're not made of money, we'll have to find a workaround."

Luz knowing Lucia was right says, "well, in that case, could Scout connect to a small, wireless speaker or an earpiece that I can wear."

Lucia took a moment to think and replied unsure of herself, "probably, I did equip Scout with a two-way, tight-beam radio relay system."

Luz pleased by Lucia's answer gives her a hug and says, "thanks, Lucia; I'll get the key from Eda and get an earpiece."

Luz then leaves Lucia's workspace and goes toward Eda's room with scout flying silently close behind.

Luz arrives at Eda's bedroom door and opening it; Luz sees a massive creature that appeared to be sleeping in Edas' room. Luz slowly closes the door and walks back toward Lucia who was outside her workspace.

Luz seeing Lucia asks, "Lucia, do you have anything that can drop a large animal."

Lucia looking to Luz replies, "no… well, nothing that's complete… why are you asking."

Luz after taking a glance behind herself says, "there is a large creature in Eda's room and I doubt either of us know what it is."

Lucia taking a moment says, "if it's a demon then King should know what it is." Luz nodded and they both went to find King.

Luz and Lucia went to search the living room first and when they arrived, they see King with one of his self-written demonology books. Luz and Lucia went over to King then Luz asked, "King you know all the different kinds of demons here right."

King looking to Luz then Lucia who had her X-38 out and was looking to the upstairs replies, "yes, as the king of demons I need to know all of the various kinds of demons that I must rule over."

Luz happy to hear that says, "ok, so hypothetically what if I saw a demon that was huge, covered in feathers, had wings and was overall themed after an owl; what demon would that be and how do I take it down."

King took a moment to think it through then says, "that's not a demon."

Luz now scared asks, "then what is it."

King gives a flat yet knowing response, "it's a beast curse… however, those have been banned for thousands of years due to the unpredictable nature of those curses. In-fact there is only one place on the boiling isles that you can still find those kinds of curses and that's in the Bonesborough night market, but even then the curse is still unpredictable."

Luz now starting to get scared asks, "so does Eda have a pet that matches what I just described to you."

King returning his gaze to Luz as if she just grew a third head and says, "no, in-fact Eda doesn't even like pets in her house."

Luz and Lucia both adopt a horrified expression and both ask at the same time, "then how would we take it down."

King lets out a short sigh and says, "the best way, as well as the most effective method, is to use a huge light spell to essentially render such a thing unconscious." King taking a moment to think then asks, "why are you both asking these sorts of questions."

Before either Luz or Lucia could reply a shell broke through the window to the right of Hooty. This scared Luz who whipped out her X-38 and Lucia who still had her X-38 out; both of them turned and pointed their guns at the shell which shook.

Then the creature in the shell slowly stood up on its pink furred, monkey-like legs, and poking its head out of its shell showed that it also was like a monkey. The group just looked at each other unsure of what to do, then King spoke, "snaggleback…" King then looked the snaggleback over and continued unimpressed, "… wow you're a lot less intimidating than in my book."

The Snaggleback trembling says in a scared tone, "I was just looking for a place to hide from the boiling rains and sorry about the window."

Luz, Lucia, and King looked on unimpressed but then Luz let out a sigh and said, "well when Eda wakes up you can take that up with her, but for now let's just try not to wake the beast."

And so, Luz, Lucia, King, and the Snaggleback did everything they could to entertain themselves until they heard an especially loud thunderclap then the lights went out followed by an owlish screech being heard. Luz, Lucia, King, and the snaggleback all looked around for what made that screech then Luz speaks after a moment to realize where the screech came from, "we need to get to your workshop…now."

Lucia expecting Luz to say something replies, "alright, let's go I think I might have something that could help us anyway."

With that said everyone goes up to Lucia's workshop.

Luz, Lucia, king, and the Snaggleback went up to Lucia's workshop and arrived without any encounters from the creature that made the owlish screech. The group entered Lucia's workshop where Lucia started to collect various materials and started working on several items at once. Luz with her X-38 drawn and pointed at the door asks, "so what are you making; because we'll need a pretty damn big flash to knockout whatever's out there."

Lucia not taking her attention away from what she was doing replies, "I'm making flash grenades and with any luck, these should be enough to knock out the beast."

Just as Lucia finished speaking a banging was heard from the door. This got everyone but Lucia's attention who was still working on her flash grenades. More banging was heard then the door gave and in came a large, beast-like, quadrupedal owl demon that when it showed its face to be Eda but with a constant toothy smile and dark eyes.

It's then that Lucia finished the flash grenades and yells, "cover your eyes." And throws a flash grenade sans pin.

Everyone covers their eyes just in time for the grenade to go off point-blank in the creature's face. The creature lets out a screech, its pupils shrink to pinpricks and it falls unconscious from the sudden and very bright flash of light.

When the flash of light had faded Luz, Lucia, King, and the Snaggleback saw in the owl beast's place was an unconscious yet naked Eda. Luz and Lucia walked over to Eda and picking her up carried her back to her room with Scout following them. All while King and the Snaggleback looked on in shocked surprise at what just happened.

It was when Luz and Lucia were alone while carrying Eda back to her room; with Scout following them not far behind did Luz speak, "so, we both agree that Eda has some explaining to do when she wakes up, right."

Lucia not taking her eyes off Eda as she carried her replied with a dead-serious tone, "yes, and then some."

Luz and Lucia carried Eda back to her room the rest of the way in near-total silence the only sounds being their breathing and the squeaking of the floorboards.

When Luz and Lucia arrived at Eda's room and entered all they found was a giant nest for Eda to sleep in. Luz and Lucia not finding anywhere else that Eda could sleep carried her over to the nest and laid Eda in it. Luz looking toward Eda's night table sees a glowing, golden drink with a label. Luz picks up the drink and reading the label it says, "an elixir a day keeps the curse at bay."

Luz after reading the label comes to a realization and handing it to Lucia who also comes to the same realization. Both Luz and Lucia find Eda some clothes and working together got her dressed; then they find a comfortable spot in Eda's room and they waited for her to wake up.

After several hours Eda wakes and upon seeing that she has an elixir in hand immediately drinks it. After drinking the elixir Eda feels she has the full attention of someone and sitting up looks around and finds that it's Luz and Lucia and they're both looking at her then Luz speaks with a serious tone, "why, why didn't you tell us about your curse."

Lucia only crosses her arms and with a frown also makes her displeasure known to Eda.

Eda looking down with a downcast expression and tone says, "it's more so that I end up pushing others away, than anything else…" Eda lets out a sigh then continues, "… when I was younger about sixteen someone cursed me. I never figured out who did but I've found ways to manage it, but this curse has made it extremely difficult to form personal relationships."

Luz and Lucia now knowing a lot more of Eda's past than they ever expected go up to her and Luz says with a sympathetic tone, "Eda what we're about to do is normally reserved for very few and very rare occasions… but you need this a lot."

Luz and Lucia wrap their arms around Eda and pull her into an embrace.

Eda unsure of what's going on asks, "what is this."

Lucia answers in a just as sympathetic tone, "it's a supportive hug… it would only be given to very close, very personal friends and family; and you seem like you need it. Now that we know so much and with your expression you need this."

Eda having never really received so much unconditional care after the curse soon found herself sinking into the embrace from the sisters. Eda then fell back asleep and the two sisters laid Eda down in her nest of a bed.

Luz still looking at Eda says, "let's go change and come back."

Lucia also looking at Eda simply replies, "agreed."

Luz and Lucia leave Eda's room and return in their sleepwear and nuzzle up to Eda while also embracing her; then they all fall asleep.

a/n: the glyphs will come into the story just not yet. they need to be built up as for scout well (gun cocks behind head and now scared for own life) he'll be a supporting creature that will either help or save characters. That's not to say Scout will have his own chapters just expect Scout to be used as a deus ex machina device rather than an actual character. Now moving on I'll be taking a break from writing because of the holidays.
