The Owl Familia: The Family That Will Grow Family:
Masha's Field trip
"You're Non-binary, right?" Kim asked curiously and Masha just smile in reply. "So why do you want to be called Vee's girlfriend?"
Masha looked at their girlfriend and their smile turned into a strange mix of sass and teasing. Vee most had felt their partner's eyes, as she looked at her. The basilisk's face started to turn red and the "ears" of her newly-crafted human guise flapped slightly.
Masha's smile grew slightly and a hint of red started to appear on their face from the sight. They looked back at their friend and gave a sassy hip thrust.
"Because Vee does something super cute when someone calls me her girlfriend," the part-time Historian sassed.
Kim just shook her head and decided it was best to leave it at that. The tomboyish high schooler went about their business and Masha looked at their girlfriend. Vee was laughing at something either Henry or Luz said. The cute sight caused the young person's face to get just a bit redder.

Vee was sleeping soundly. This was one of the mornings when she wasn't awoken by a bad dream, and she was going to enjoy it by sleeping in.
Of course, nothing ever works out the way one wants it to in the house of the Owl Familia.
Light giggling started to stir the "knocked-down" basilisk. Vee made a face, tightened her hold on her stuffed Griffon plush, and turned to face the wall. It didn't drown out the giggle. If anything, the giggling was getting louder.
Suddenly, Vee felt someone tug on her ear and that woke her enough to look at the source of the giggling.
"V-V! Up, up!" Masha chanted energetically.
"Ma-Ma," Ve groaned sleepily. "Beddie!"
The "knocked-down" basilisk put her head back on her pillow and tried to go back to sleep. However, Masha wasn't done with their girlfriend, and she giggled as they gave Vee's ear another tug.
Vee made a face and snuggled a little deeper into her bed. Masha giggled again and gave Vee's ear another tug. The shapeshifter grumbled to herself and brought her plush over her head.
That's what Masha was waiting for; they snatched the toy from their girlfriend and jumped out of bed before the "knocked-down" basilisk could react. They giggled when their girlfriend sent a lazy glare at them and bolted from the room.
With a grumble, the snake-like creature got out of her warm bed and gave chase. Vee morphed her tails into her legs to keep up with the surprisingly nimble Masha.
"Ma-Ma!" Vee cried, hopefully, loud enough for her girlfriend to hear but not to wake any of the other residents. "Mine!"
Masha just laughed as they continued down the hall. Eventually, they lead their girlfriend to a familiar room. Neither stopped as they rushed into Camila's bedroom.
"Ma-Ma," Vee called again and pointed at her plush. "Mine!"
Masha just continued to giggle and held out the toy in a teasing manner. Vee just grumbled and went to grab her toy when she heard a familiar voice.
"Now isn't this a cute scene?"
Vee gasped and looked up at the smiling face of her mother. The basilisk's face got red as she hung her head in shame.
"Sowwy, mommy," Vee said, thinking she woke her mother up.
Camila giggled at the sight and got out of bed. She gave her blue-jay Palisman, Maddy, a quick head pat as she walked by him and then scooped her demon daughter into her arms.
"You don't have to be sorry, cria," Camila said warmly. "I was up."
Camila looked at the other "knocked-down" human and some of the warmth faded from her face.
"Now, dear, you know it's not right to take another's toy without their permission," the human mother scolded lightly.
Masha just gave the human a teasing smile and held up the toy. Camila lowered Vee to the ground and she gently took plush from her girlfriend. Vee hugged the toy tightly and didn't see when Masha got beside her. The part-time historian then planted a quick kiss on the cheek.
Vee gasped, held the spot where she was kissed and her face went red again. Camila giggled as she watched her adoptive daughter's ears begin to flap quickly. She let out a content sigh after calming down and looked at the clock.
"Well, how about we head downstairs?" Camila suggested. "It's breakfast time."
Camila frowned as she went over that sentence. It was past the usual time her human daughter would be up, and she was right next to Eda's room.
So why didn't she hear the witch's groan when Luz jumped on her?
(SC)
"Oh, Mija," Camila moaned as she carried Vee and Masha into the room.
Luz didn't even look up as she continued to absent-mindedly poke at her breakfast. Around the table, the members of the Owl Familia looked at the "knocked-down" human witch with worry.
"Uz-Uz, no saddie," Amity said, trying to cheer her future wife up.
Looks like the incident she caused the other day was still bothering Luz. Even her newly hatched Palisman String-Bean couldn't improve its partner's mood. And it was trying; the snake-shifter was going through every form it knew and was making some up as it went.
Nothing seemed to get through to Luz, though, and that worried everyone in the room.
"I hate it when our kid gets like this," Eda muttered to Camila, eyes not leaving their daughter. "Got any tips?"
Camila frowned as she helped Vee into her usual seat. She knew of only a few things that would snap Luz out of her funk, and two of them were in this very room. She caught the human calendar from the corner of her eyes and nearly gasped when she noticed the date.
With a grin, Camila leaned in and whispered her suggestion in her sister's ear. Eda grinned ear to ear and looked at her little witchlet.
"Hey, kiddo," Eda said lightly. "I'm heading into the human realm later. What to come with?"
Luz just grunted in response and flicked a piece of paincake off of her plate. Eda's grin turned mischievous as she turned her attention to her niece.
"Guess that's a big fat no," she quipped mischievously, "You want to come, Boots? I hear there is a good movie playing at The Gravefield's theater…The Good Witch Azura: The Movie three: Reckoning for Villainous Lucy?"
Luz and Amity both gasped and looked at the ex-wild witch with sparkles in their eyes. Luz put on a cute pout and she looked at her witch mother pleadingly.
"No, Mommy Edy!" Luz screamed pleadingly. "Take, take!"
Eda cackled as she walked over to her human daughter. With a warm smile, she lifted Luz into her arms and placed a small kiss on her forehead.
"Alright, alright. You twisted my arm, witchlet," Eda said warmly then grinned mischievously. "But if you sulk anymore, I will be burping the entire Rune alphabet during the movie."
Luz let out a cute gasp and put on the biggest and brightest smile she had. That got a laugh out of the witch mother, and Eda set her human daughter back down. The bard witch went to her seat and began eating.
It wasn't long before the entire house begin to make plans for the day.
"Edalyn, I would be accompanying you and our daughters to the human realm," Lilith stated a hint of authority in her voice.
Eda gave her sister a small glare as she swallowed the paincake in her mouth. "Why?" she asked pointedly, "Don't trust me?"
"Edalyn, two weeks ago, you went into the human realm to gather ingredients for supper and somehow needed the Grave Fields' sheriff department to escort you home,'' Lilith clarified sharply.
Eda opened her mouth to say something but was cut off by King.
"All because she got into a fight with some guy called Stanley Pines," the young titan said in a mirthful tone.
Eda grumbled and chose to stuff her face instead of responding. With the matter with her blood sister settled, Lilith turned her attention to her honorary sister.
"And what's your plans for the day, Camila?" the Historian asked.
"Well…" Camila looked at her demon daughter and smiled at the scene.
Masha was feeding Vee some of her breakfast, and while the "knocked-down" basilisk didn't mind, her face was red and her ears were flapping again. The human mother giggled under her breath and looked at Lilith.
"Since Masha's sightseeing tour was cut short, I thought I would take them to The Bonesborough's Museum of Supernatural History," the human mother said softly.
"That sounds nice," Lilith replied with a warm smile. "I'll contact Jane Porter after breakfast and see if she can't set anything up."
Camila smiled warmly at the witch she now thinks of as family. With the day now planned out, the familia went back to their breakfast. Soon, voices filled the room as the "knock-down" coven members began to talk about their coming day.
(SC)
Camila was steading herself as she stepped into the museum. Though she had been using Maddy to fly around the Isles for a while now, she still wasn't completely over her small fear of heights.
Still, Vee liked to fly and if it was for one of her children, she would gladly fly anywhere.
Speaking of children…Camila smiled when she saw the excited face of her daughter's girlfriend. Masha was looking and gawking at the different displays on the Isle's history. The young historian let out an excited gasp when they spotted something and hurried over to the display.
Camila giggled under her breath as Vee hurried after her girlfriend. It wasn't long before Jane Porter joined the human beast-keeper. The head curator wore a kind smile as she watched the two "knocked-down" coven members look over the display.
"I don't think I have ever seen a child, despite their current age, ever looked so excited for history," the historian said kindly.
Camila gave a good-hearted chuckle as the two women joined the basilisk and human couple.
"I think it has to do more with that it's a whole new world that captures Masha's attention, not just the history behind it," Camila said kindly. "And thank you for sitting this tour up on such short notice, Ms. Porter."
"It's not a problem, Ms. Noceda," Jane replied warmly. "Sundays are usually slow, and all my work is caught-up. So I really didn't have much to do. And if you like, you can call me Jane."
"Then, you can call me Camila," the human adult suggested kindly.
Jane's smile grew ever so slightly and opened her mouth to say something. She was interrupted when Masha gently tugged on the historian's pants leg.
"Yes, little one?" Jane asked kindly. "What can I help you with?"
"Ihat that?" Masha asked curiously and pointed to the display.
Jane looked at the display and smiled at it. She walked up to the display and looked at her crowd.
"This, young ones, is a display of the ruins of the castle that houses the legendary Soul Stone," Jane explained professionally.
Camila smiled fondly at the display. While she was still a little slighted that her daughter didn't tell her immediately that she was engaged, she could understand why she didn't say anything right away.
Seeing that everyone was giving her their full attention, Jane continued.
"For years, the oracles believed that the ruins housed the stone that was left behind by lovers that were destined to be together but couldn't due to some tragic event."
Everyone was hanging on the historian's every word, and even Camila was intrigued by this piece of information.
"Recent studies had shown that might only be part of the history behind the ruins," Jane continued. "It's now being debuting if these ruins are the ancestral meeting place of the early witches."
Masha's eyes were sparkling and they were almost bouncing in place as they absorb this new information. Vee couldn't help but giggle at the sight. It was a little refreshing to see her usual laid-back partner acting in such a manner.
Seeing that everyone was enjoying themselves, Jane smiled a little.
"If this is the case, then the Soul Stone, which Orcales believe can link destined lovers, might hold secrets we are only starting to discover. Lilith Clawthorne can attest to that."
The second Jane finished her presentation the group heard a noise. The group turned around in time to see Lilith, carrying a dissembled Eda on her back, flying into the room. Beside her were Luz and Amity on their own staff.
Eda, jaw missing, mumbled something as they flew by the group. This confused the group, and Lilith must have seen this.
"EDALYN, IT'S RUDE TO TALK WITHOUT YOUR MOUTH!" Lilith screamed as she flow out a window. "BUT SHE SAID; JANE PORTER STOP THESE CRAZY THINGS!"
The group watched as what appeared to be lemmings, only 6X their natural size and with pink in their fur, stormed into the room. The earth animals snuffed the air and snarled, showing their razor-sharp teeth. The creature then hurried out the window.
"...Why do people ask you that?" Camila asked, after an awkward moment of silence.
Jane sighed dejectedly and walked over to the door. She was planning on seeing if the lemmings had caused any damage when they entered.
"I blame my husband," she replied offhandedly. "There was a problem on our third date and things ended-hey!"
The historian barely jumped out of the way when a human barreled into the room. Camila, Vee, and Masha groaned when they got a good look at the human.
"Where are you, you vile creatures?" Jacob Hopkin barked.
The former Historical society employee snapped his head around and his eyes widened when he noticed a certain "knocked-down" human.
"MASHA!" Jacob screamed. "What sort of bewitchment had these creatures put on you?"
He tried to get to Masha, but Camila and Jane got between the two humans. Jacob growled and he up some garlic. Camila cock an eyebrow when she saw what the other human was wearing.
Jacob was covered nearly head to toe in garlic, had some serval stakes tied to his belt, and hanging off his neck was…Eda's jaw.
"Mister Hopkin," Camila began, trying to keep her tone calm. "Nothing is wrong with Masha. She's just enjoying one of the Boiling Isles' favorite pastimes."
"Like I will believe anything out your mouth, traitor!" Jacob spitefully snapped. "Now hand me, my cousin! If I can't cure her of your bewitchment, I can at least save her newly returned baby teeth!"
Everyone stared at Jacob flabbergasted. Everyone in Gravefield knew about the demon realm by this point. The Gravefield town committee and the Boiling Isles committee were in talks about setting up a currency exchange program.
The voice of Jacob brought everyone to their senses and what he said made Camila mad.
"And when I convince everyone in town about these soulless creatures' goals, I'll finally take that demon's hide as my trophy."
You didn't need to be an oracle to know whose Jacob was talking about and Camila looked at her daughter. Vee was shaking fiercely and her tail had popped out. Masha was hugging their girlfriend and running a hand through Vee's hair. As she did this, she sent a venomous glare at her family member.
Well, that was the last straw for Camila. With a growl, she called Maddy and took out a plant glyph from her pulse. She slammed the glyph card to the ground as the palisman turned into his staff mode.
Jacob barely got a squeak out when the vines wrapped around him. With her staff floating by her side, Camila walked up to the other human and snapped off Eda's jaw.
"Now, listen here, idiota," the human mother said lowly. "You wouldn't talk to my dear Veessa Clawthorne-Noceda in such a manner again. Got it?"
Jacob, unable to find his voice, simply nodded. He thought the woman was scary during their last meeting. But now that she had magic glowing around her, she was downright terrifying.
"Good," Camila said, and her face turned slightly scolding. "Now, I think need to have another talk with your mother."
Jacob groaned as Camila grabbed her staff and began to drag the ex-historian out of the building.
"I'm an adult!" Jacob whined pathetically, earning some giggles from the current children in the room.
"One that's acting more childish than current children in the room," Jane couldn't help but add, and this earned more giggles from said children.
Jacob glared at the witch as he was pushed out of the room. Camila looked at her friend with pleading eyes, and Jane got the unspoken message.
"Go make your call," Jane said warmly. "I can watch these two for a short while."
Camila offered the witch historian a somewhat guilty smile as he stepped out of the room.
Jane sighed and turned her attention to the children. It seems that lighthearted moment was enough to calm Vee down; the basilisk was putting on her sandals. That brought a smile to Jane's face but it was wiped clear when she saw Masha.
The "knocked-down" human was sulking; Jane could tell, even if she was trying to hide it. Though, if someone just wanted to have a fun little outing with their partner and have that outing interrupted by a family member, anyone would feel down in the dumps.
Thankful, she wasn't the only one to read the room. Vee looked at her girlfriend with concern and get a little closer. She gently lanced her fingers into the human's hand and this caused Masha to look into Vee's eyes.
"Ma-Ma, no saddy," the "knocked-down" basilisk said encouragingly.
Masha managed a small smile, glad she had such a wonderful girlfriend. Seeing the smile lifted Vee's spirits and that made her do something bold…she kissed her girlfriend! Right on the lips, to boot!
Jane couldn't help but gush at the scene; especially when the faces of the couple turned a matching red. If Masha had ears like her girlfriend, they probably flapped just as much as the "knock-down" basilisk's ears were doing.
The curator sighed as found memories came to the surface. Maybe she could talk her husband into having their own "knock-down" weekend and head to their favorite spot when they were first young?
But now wasn't the time for such thoughts. She had a tour that needed to get going again, and she knew the perfect place to go next.
"Well, shall we continue?" she asked the two warmly, and both gave meek nods.
Jane smiled slightly at this and ushered the two to the newly opened wing of the museum. The name of this new wing…The Downfall of an Emperor.

I sometimes wonder where my mind can go during work. I know I'm the only one who thinks that Jacob and Masha had some similar psychically traits; like skin tone?
I can't help but feel that since Masha seemed to be so sassy, she would be a good nature tease to anyone who dates them.
With that weird headcanon out of the way, I would like to say this; the many "plotholes" in this chapter will be explained in the "Daily Live" section.
