The Owl Familia: The Family That Will Grow Forever:
Side story: Vee Comes out…To her Friends
Vee was nervous, so nervous she was about to pop out of her "Luz" disguise. It didn't help matters that Masha Blacklight's father, Drake, was giving her a small glare as she passed by him.
The middle-aged man may be wearing glasses but something about his piercing blue eyes shook the young basilisk to her core.
Thankfully, she wasn't alone in this scenario, and she could feel some of her fears lifting when the real Luz gently laced their hands together. Vee smiled at her new sister, who was also wearing a disguise and was glad she was here with her.
Together, the two walked up to Masha's room. They didn't need to knock as the door was open and Vee's friends could see them. Vee felt her fears returning as she looked at the faces of her closest friends.
"Oh, there you, Luz," Masha said casually and smiled at their girlfriend.
Henry and Kim smiled as the Noceda sisters took their seats. Luz couldn't help but wonder why her sister sat so close to Masha as she took a seat near the foot of the bed.
"So, Luz, what with the sudden call?" Henry asked lazily and bopped his head in Luz's direction. "And whose your friend? She looks familiar."
Vee couldn't help but glare at her sister. Luz's disguise was very simple; it was a red beanie and a pair of sunglasses. She sighed and looked at each of her friends and girlfriend. She nearly lost her nerve, but quickly steadied herself.
"Well, for starters," Vee said nervously, "My name isn't Luz. And…I'm not even human."
She pushed herself forward slightly and closed her eyes as shifted back to her normal form. She expected gasps from her friend followed by angry words. So, she was surprised when she heard nothing, she opened an eye.
She was a little confused; Henry and Kim were looking at her with a bit of confusion but weren't afraid. It was Masha that was the most surprising; the young people were transfixed with Vee's ears.
"Umm, what's happening here?" Vee asked, panicking a bit from all the stares she was getting. "Why aren't you guy freaking out? I'm a monster! A hideous, terrifying, if looks could-MASHA!"
Masha giggled as they playfully tugged on Vee's ears. The sound caused the basilisk to blush and if it wasn't for the hold, her ears might be flapping.
"Masha," Vee whined weakly. "My ears are super sensitive."
Masha giggled again, but let Vee's ears go.
"Sorry, cutie," the part-time historian said. "But I have wanted to do that since our first date."
Vee stared at her girlfriend as their words began to register. She didn't get a chance to process much as Luz squealed.
"OOW, you're dating!" she asked excitedly.
Luz took off her disguise and rush up to Vee. The basilisk was slightly weirded-out when Luz began bouncing in place.
"How long? Tell me, tell me, TELL MEEE!" the human witch all but screeched.
"A-About two months before you and the Clawthorne came here," Vee choked out.
Luz let out such a loud squeal it was nearly deafening. "Come here, you! I need to give you some overdue sisterly loving!"
Luz lunged for her sister quickly then Vee could react. So, the human girl had her demon sister in a hug and began lightly nugging her. Vee couldn't help herself; she got caught up in her sister's energy and began to laugh.
This went on for nearly a minute before Masha cleared their throat to get the sisters' attention. Both blush slightly and then broke apart.
"So, I take it this is the real Luz Noceda?" Masha asked, gesturing to the human witch.
"Yup," Luz said with a smile and nod.
Vee couldn't help but smile. Seemed like all of her worrying was for nothing; her friends were chill with who she truly was. She frowned as her thoughts' meaning took hold.
"So, why are you guys so relaxed?" Vee asked curiously. "I'm not normal."
The older teenagers exchanged and then looked back at their friend with warm smiles.
"There were signs when you really think about it," Kim said with a shrug and Henry nodded. "Like during our first breakfast at camp."
"You're never going to let me live down that I poured milk into the bowl before the cereal?" Vee asked with a sour frown.
Kim and Henry wore teasing smiles that told Vee everything. Masha, meanwhile, had been lost in their thoughts and looking at Vee for a long time. No one saw when their eyes flashed purple for a second.
"Like said during our first date, I get these feelings," Masha said seriously, then put on a teasing grin. "But now, I can do this all I want."
They then gingerly grabbed one of Vee's ears and gave it a light tug. Vee's face went red and her free ear began to twitch.
"Masha," Vee whined. "I just said my ears are sensitive!"
Masha giggled, but they did let go of Vee's ear.
"Oh, how I love being this dorky demon's girlfriend."
Masha thought they had said that to themselves and missed the look Kim gave them. She filed this into the back of her mind and focused on the human and demon sisters in front of her.
"So, um-" Kim frowned as she realized something.
"Vee," the basilisk quickly said, and Kim nodded.
"So, Vee. Why call us here? When we talked two weeks ago, you said you were moving?" Kim inquired curiously.
Vee turned serious and looked at her friends.
"Yes. I moved back to my home in the demon realm," Vee explained and smiled. "But the portal to the human realm is in town. So, that means I can visit you when I want."
Vee turned serious as she said the next part.
"But, I don't want to be Luz anymore. I want my own face, and I would really like my best friends in the human realm to help."
All of Vee's human friends had warm and supporting smiles on their faces.
"Like you need to ask," Kim said encouragingly.
"And it's not like I got nothing to do for the next couple of months," Henry replied offhandedly, earning him a glaze from the Noceda sisters.
"You know I will always help you, but-" Masha grinned teasingly and lightly tug on their girlfriend's ear. "We need to think of a way for you to keep those adorable ears out."
"MASHAAA!" Vee whined as her face went red and her free ear flapped.
That got a laugh out of everyone in the room. Soon the group was brainstorming the perfect disguise for their demon friend.

So, I'm putting this on the table; but the Drake Blacklight featured in this chapter isn't the same character that appeared way back in my second story. Masha's dad is the Owl House version of the character I spent years making. But more on that later.
Also, don't worry, I haven't forgotten about making Vee LI in my stories. More would be explained in the Daily Lives stories. So look forward to that.
