Shadow's red eyes stared into Amy's soft emerald ones. Her cheeks glowed red as she took the flower.

"Thanks," she softly uttered.

Shadow fixed his gaze on the pink Hedgehog with much intent. It didn't escape the girl who felt drawn to those eyes. She turned away, feeling sure that if she peered too much, she would be lost in them forever. Instead, she focused on the sweet smelling gift.

Shadow asked, "Were you crying?"

Amy touched her cheeks. They were still wet.

"I'm just tired from fighting Eggman so much lately..."

The dark hedgehog moved and crouched in front of her. His wine-red eyes burrowed into her crestfallen gaze.

He interjected, "You need to look after yourself."

As she returned the deep stare, she felt the worry radiating from him. A glint of softness became detectable.

He extended his hand, never breaking his gaze, and said, "Amy...if this shopping will cheer you up, perhaps...I will oblige you."

"You're...you're going to come with me?"

But why? Didn't he say that he doesn't like going to those places?

He slowly nodded, while still trying to remain neutral. The pink Hedgehog reached out and took his large hand that firmly wrapped around her slim one. She felt the warmth in his grip.

A green light engulfed the two. The world around them swirled as everything moved at the speed of light. Before she could blink, Amy heard the most popular song playing over a loud speaker. Smooth title replaced the soft grass and glossy lake.

She gazed at the posters and signs around them as people pushed by them. In total shock, she turned to Shadow and smiled.

She said, "Shadow...I don't know why you did this, but...thank you."

"Don't think too deeply about it. You wanted to come here and I merely complied."

"Right."

She never stopped smiling at him.

I still wonder if he has something to tell me. He has that look about him.
