Tessa and Bucky had just finished up breakfast when there was a knock on his apartment door, Tessa looked at the door in confusion but Bucky just calmly wiped his mouth with a napkin before standing up and walking towards the door. A minute later she watched as several women that she realized were members of the Dora Milaje followed Bucky into the apartment, one of them was holding a giant silver briefcase which she sat on a nearby table. "Uyaqonda ukuba olu lubabalo olukhulu ukuba usicele." The one woman said to him.
"Ndiyaqonda ndikholelwe. Bendingazuyibuza lento ukuba ibindim nje uSam udinga umntu okhoyo ozimiseleyo ukubonisa ukuba uyakholelwa kuye." Bucky said while Tessa just stared at him and the woman he was talking to in confusion.
"Uh. Buck what's going on?" she asked hoping for a translation. Both Bucky and the woman looked at her as if they had just noticed that she was standing beside them.
"This is Ayo. She was my...guardian when I was in Wakanda." he started with.
"So basically it was her job to take you down if Shuri hadn't gotten the trigger words out." Tessa said in understanding.
"You make it sound as if I would have killed him." Ayo said with a slight smirk.
"I know a bit about the Dora. I know that you're handpicked by the king from the moment you're a little girl to be trained to protect him." Tessa told her giving her a smirk back. Ayo raised an eyebrow at her and for a moment Bucky wondered if he was going to have to step in again.
"I thought I recognized you. You were with Stark when he was brought to Wakanda to have a new arm built for him. It's my understanding that you told him to be quiet when he kept trying to interfere while Shuri was working on his arm. So I'm surprised that you allowed James to release Zemo from his prison cell." Ayo said and Tessa had a slight feeling that the two of them might not end up as friends.
"I didn't let him. The bastard went and did it before I even found out about it. I had to through a news report." Tessa said before shooting a glare in Bucky's direction. He was sure that he was going insane but he swore that he had seen Ayo crack a smile at that before she cleared her throat.
"Seems like you have more people to apologize to other than just us." Ayo said before hitting the end of her spear off of the floor and Tessa watched as the other Dora lined up before walking out the door. Ayo took up the rear and was about to walk out before she stopped and turned to Tessa "Oh and the code for James' arm is the same as Tony's." she said before walking out. Tessa shut the door behind her before turning to Bucky who looked shocked and hurt.
"You know how to take my arm off?" he asked and she could hear the hurt in his voice.
"Apparently. Shuri showed Pepper and I how to take Tony's off in case she had any updates for it or if he wanted a break from having it on. Buck you do realize that most people that have a prosthetic take it off at night to give them a break right? Why would you expect it to not come off? Don't you have to charge it?" she asked and Bucky just shrugged.
"I never got a chance to get a run down. I just assumed that it was on here permanently. Honestly I felt kind of lopsided when Ayo took it off so I don't know if I'm going to take it off anytime soon. It's never shown any signs of powering down so I'm assuming that Shuri found a way to keep it from running out using the vibranium." he said as he moved his arm around to study it.
"So why did you seem so upset when Ayo said about me taking your arm off?" Tessa asked.
"Well it felt like the only reason why they put it in was because they didn't trust me. The only other arms I've had weren't supposed to come off." he told her.
"Well of course Hydra wouldn't have wanted your arm to come off that's too much of a hassle which makes me wonder how that arm even worked. Did they have to plug you in to a wall outlet somewhere?" she asked with a smile that quickly faded when she saw the deadpan look he gave her.
"No there was a little crank on the side that they used." he said and he couldn't help but to laugh when he saw the look on her face.
"What's so damn funny?" she demanded with her hands on her hips.
"You really believe that? Tess I have no clue how they kept it running." he said before covering his mouth when he let out a snort.
"Stop being an ass and let me see what they brought." Tessa said as she walked over to the suitcase.
"It's a new suit for Sam. Walker ripped the wings off of his old one and honestly it didn't scream Captain America to me." Bucky said before popping the latches open and slowly lifting the lid. Tessa looked in the suitcase before letting out a gasp and turning to Bucky.
"Okay I have to admit. That screams Captain America to me." she said as she touched the suit.
