Tessa watched from the police department's waiting room as the news reported on the fact that the Flag Smashers had kidnapped members of the GRC and she knew that at the rate that Karli had escalated that they were probably going to kill them. She had been waiting in the room with Bucky and Emily to give their statements when Sam had gotten a hold of Bucky and told him that he was on his way to help. A nearby cop had agreed to take Bucky to where the Flag Smashers were holding everyone and Bucky had left with a kiss and a promise to be back soon before following the cop out the door. She was sitting beside Emily waiting for Happy to come pick them up to take them back to Bucky's apartment when they saw the camera focusing on someone fighting on top of a building under construction, at first they couldn't make out who it was but when the camera zoomed in on them Emily let out a gasp "Oh my God Tessa. Bucky's on top of that thing!" she said before covering her mouth. Both of them watched as Bucky fought one of the Flag Smashers onto of the building before he was hit with enough force to send him flying backwards, they could see sparks coming from his vibranium arm as he tried to slow his momentum and to cling to the building but he was going too fast and Tessa let out a scream as she watched Bucky go over the edge and fall.
Emily watched with wide eyes and an open mouth as he let out a scream as he fell before she had to look away while she tried to comfort Tessa. Sensing that watching the news coverage was causing her stress one of the officers allowed the two of them to move into an interrogation room that wasn't being used at the moment so that they didn't have to see or hear what was going on. "He's dead! I just watched him die!" Tessa sobbed out.
"He's not dead. He fell from a higher distance than that and all he did was lose his arm." Emily said in an attempt to comfort her. Tessa wanted to be mad at her and to yell at her about how she couldn't promise that until she realized that she was right, everyone knew that Bucky had survived the fall from the train for the most part. There had been times when he had been down that he would tell her that sometimes he wished that the fall had killed him. Happy arrived around the same time that Tessa had finally calmed down being none the wiser as to what she had just seen happen. He drove them to Bucky's apartment, as soon as she had unlocked the door Tessa found herself cuddling up to Alpine who was purring the whole time while she bopped Tessa's head with her own before looking around obviously wondering where Bucky was.
"Dad's not with us right now. He'll be home later." She told her hoping that she wasn't lying to the little cat. Alpine looked up at her for a second before she let out one last meow and jumped down to go and get some food. Emily and Happy stayed up as late as they could to help keep her mind off of the fact that Bucky was off fighting a bunch of super soldiers before Emily started to drift off. Happy woke her up and directed her towards the guest room before he excused himself and left heading towards May and Peter's apartment for the night. Tessa popped in one last movie before she finally felt herself starting to get tired, she rinsed out the glass she had been drinking from before turning the lights off and heading into Bucky's room.
She stripped down to nothing figuring that if Bucky was okay that he probably wouldn't be home until early the next morning. She crawled underneath the covers before getting comfortable and turning the light off, Alpine jumped up onto the bed and curled up next to her purring the whole time before she fell asleep. Tessa stared up at the ceiling for a second as she debated with herself on if she would check the news to see what was going on or not before she decided to not worry herself anymore and set her alarm before she went to sleep. While she slept Bucky arrived home and he headed to his bathroom stripping out of his combat gear the whole way before he flipped the light on and walked inside of his bathroom and turned his shower on. Once he was sure the water was at the temperature that he wanted he stepped underneath the stream of water and let out a sigh as the hot water hit his skin and helped his muscles to relax.
Once he had cleaned the dirt and blood off of his skin and out of his hair he turned the water off and stepped out of the shower before grabbing a towel and wrapping it around himself while heading to his room. He opened the door not noticing Tessa laying in his bed until he got changed into his underwear and climbed into bed. Tessa turned around with a gasp and looked up at him for a minute or two as her sleep addled mind told her that yes Bucky really was home. She turned to face him better before pulling him down for a kiss, she could hear him let out a little laugh before he returned her kiss. He gently stroked her cheek when he noticed that she didn't seem to have a shirt on.
He slowly pulled the blanket back and grinned when he saw that she was indeed naked. "Is it my birthday again?" he whispered as he stared.
"James." Tessa said sternly trying to get him to look at her.
"What?" he asked before giving her a kiss.
"Emily's here." Tessa said trying to come up with an excuse.
"Oh well then I guess we'll have to be quiet huh?" he said before pushing her onto her back.
Emily woke up with a yawn and rubbed her eyes before getting out of the bed and walking out of the room to answer the call of nature. She passed by Bucky's room on the way and paused, she shifted a bit wondering if she had stepped on a loose board before she heard the noise again. Her eyes went wide and she had to cover her mouth to stifle a giggle before she quickly walked towards the bathroom deciding not to say anything to Tessa because she knew that she'd be self-conscious about the whole situation.
