EPOV

I slowly made my way up to her door.

I couldn't imagine her being paid off to leave me alone, but what if…

My mind raced as I approached the door.

What if that's all it was?

An exchange of money.

She wanted me to take it.

If he offered her money why wouldn't she take it?

I slowly knocked on the door as I thought of every I love you she had every uttered to me.

I waited impatiently as her shadow approached the door.

I watched as her brown eyes, wide as saucers peeped out the window next to the door to find me standing there.

I listened as my heart beat hard in my chest as the question of her betrayal burned bitter on my tongue as she struggled with the deadboldt lock and whatever other locks were in place to protect her. Cautiously, the door creeped open to reveal her.

Bella.

She was dressed in an oversized t shirt and leggings.

Her face was scrubbed clean of make making her resemble the nineteen year old girl who lived in my dreams verses the twenty six year old woman who haunted my reality.

There was a worried look on her face as she met my stare with a dark one of her own.

There was no trust in her eyes and while I should have been used to it, it still sting when she looked at me like that.

"You shouldn't open the door to strangers this late at night," I chastised her as her worried look melted in into irritation as she griped the door tight.

"You're right," she said with a shrug, but I could see the annoyance rolling off her as she gave me a dark grin before slamming the door shut in my face.

While I may deserved that treatment over past behavior I wasn't in the mood to play with her.

"Come on," I pleaded through the metal door as I knocked softly, trying my best to to alarm her neighbors.

"Go away, Edward," she called through the door as I rested against the door.

"Please, Bella?" I pleaded softly, practically admitting defeat as I pressed my face against the cool, painted steel of the door.

Slowly the door opened again and we faced each other.

Her dark eyes that haunted me met mine and for one moment I was transported back in time.

"Hey Cullen, there's a girl here looking for you."

Girls rarely looked for me as I was too busy avoiding them.

I was actively being haunted Bella so there was no time for other girls..

Her dark eyes filled my dreams as I spent day after day avoiding her calls.

All the while I would mark off another day of surviving without her.

She was the one who decided to leave after all.

I came to the dorm door and there she was.

She looked tan and heartbreakingly beautiful with her dark eyes that seemed to be able to see my soul.

My heart leaped in my throat as I looked at her.

I had waited for her to come back to me fo what had felt like forever, but was really only a few months.

"Do you have a moment?" she asked me in a soft whisper.

I knew that whisper.

It held every secret I had.

And I did have time for her.

I always had time for her.

I had done nothing, but played the part of the dutiful student and son while waiting on her..

I had all the time in the world.

But all that came out was the hurt of lonely nights and psych evals.

"No."

I slammed the door in her face.

"What are you doing here?" she asked me in a nervous tone and then bit her bottom lip as she met my gaze.

"Do you have a moment?" I asked her, repeating what she had once asked me.

I fully expected her to say no, after all that would only be fair sending us back down a path of screaming phone messages and hate sex that had been the fuel to our relationship over the last six years.

Her silence was loud as she remained still, just staring at me with those bottomless dark eyes.

"Sure," she muttered as she stepped aside to allow me access to her home.
