After 'Hell Weekend' as the girls referred to the training they had gone under they were relieved that Monday came around. For the time being the focus would be on general training with more of an emphasis on the weekend days so their school work wouldn't suffer until they got used to the schedule. ''You know if you want I can start tutoring you again,'' Naruto suggested to Will as she as she placed her history book in her locker. History and Math did not seem to kind to her this semester.
''I'd like that.''' Will shyly responded, dressed in her atypical attire of a loose shirt and jeans.
''You'll have to show me where the library is though. Haven't really explored the town yet and I don't feel like Karmine teasing us every half hour and making comments about him being made an uncle,'' Naruto said scowling as he leaned against a random locker.
Students of various grades were cluttered in the hallway. Chatting on cell phones or with friends. There was a couple of guys talking about sports and hi-fiving a group of girls discussing their crushes and giggling as they walked by.
Naruto looked at Will who turned her face, a slight blush adorning her cheeks. 'Cute'The thought crossed his mind at how easily the tom boy could be embarrassed. ''Will...there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about.''
Will started to feel her heart thumping in her chest. Was Naruto going to confess to her? Nothing could ruin this at least perfect moment.
''Ah! Just the people I wanted to see. How ya doing?'' Greeted a cheerful Irma. She was wearing a white top with a red over shirt over it and a knee length jeans skirt. ''I really need to ask you a big favor, come with me,'' She said grabbing both of them by the arms and dragging them off before they could protest. Once they reached the desired destination the brown haired girl looked around for something or maybe some one.
Will's chocolate brown eyes, full of confusion turned to Narutose whose normally mischievous cerulean blue mirrored it.
''Irma? Why did you bring us here?'' Will asked as the Guardian of Water placed her hands on the skinny shoulders of the tomboy guardian.
''I need to borrow Naruto as my boyfriend.'' She said as casually as one would ask for a piece of gum.
Will blinked and didn't move an inch. She was trying to process what she just heard. At first she thought her mind was playing tricks on her.
''Please Will...'' Irma pleaded, her eyes shining with pleaded like one would see from an anime character.
''Wha? Why?'' Will suddenly demanded.
''It's Martin...ever since my Astral Drop agreed to...ugh...'' She shivered. ''That...outing...he's stepped up attempts to woo me and now I'm getting attention from some of the other guys and none of the cute or good kind either. They think I'm desperate or something, but if they think I'm dating someone like Naruto surely they'll back off or at least I think so. Besides it'll just be while were mostly at school, maybe around town a bit so if someone from school sees us it'll seem genuine. Think of it as a favor for a friend.''
Will clutched her arms as she suddenly guarded herself.
Irma stepped back as she felt a sudden coldness come from Will. She watched as Naruto placed a comforting arm around Will. ''You okay?'' He whispered softly as Will nodded.
''Yeah just...''
''Memories?'' He asked as Will nodded again.
''But that's the past. I have no fear of what happened then occurring now.'' Will looked up to her startled friend. ''Yeah...I'm ok with it.''
Irma squealed and threw her hands around Will for a tight hug. ''Thanks Will! You're the best!''
Naruto watched the scene in amusement. ''I'll guess I'll be seeing you after school then Irma. If this is going to work were going to have to familiarize ourselves with each other.''
''Okay...I'll guess I see you then,'' Irma said winking at Naruto and giving a way before taking off.
''Are you sure you're really okay with this?'' he asked her. "What if I'm expected to kiss her? What if we need a bit of practice to be convincing?"
The thought had bothered her, but Will knew that regardless of what happened Naruto would not intentionally hurt her. She needed to be able to trust him and the other girls in order to be able to do on. ''Yeah...I'll be alright. If its what you have to do to help Irma then help her. If I can't allow myself to trust people again then how will my bonds with my friends grow or mean anything, you know?"
''How did I end up with such an understanding girlfriend?'' Naruto asked with a grin as Will almost tipped over. She looked up at him with wide-eyes.
''Girlf...'' Naruto pressed his lips against hers before she could even finish exclaiming the word. Naruto wrapped his arms around her and gently stroked her back as Will lost herself against his lips, After a few minutes they broke apart.
''Wow...'' Will said softly, her eyes still a bit glossy.
''I know huh...if you think that's amazing you should see my tongue trick,'' he said flicking his tongue front and back rapidly.
''Naruto!'' Will cried out punching him playfully on his arm.
''I knew something was missing.'' He sagely responded.
''Let em guess, you get hit all the time for being a pervert?'' she guessed in regards to his comments. She knew all to well of the blond's infamous flirting and had seen it first hand when they first became friends.
''Hey!'' Naruto cried out, looking might indignant. ''It's called being slightly Lecherous thank you very much. Okay not slightly but still.'' He tried to argue his point.
''Well what's the difference?'' Will asked with a raised eyebrow.
''A pervert steals panties and watch women undress from afar. A lecher is a guy with a healthy sexual interests who actually has the balls to pursue what he wants. Like for instance if I were to say, make off with you right now and laid numerous hot and sensual kisses all over your neck and other places leaving you all hot and bothered for more it would be more lecherous then actually perverse.'' He explained with a grin as he turned to Will's direction who was red as a Christmas light.
''You Per...I mean Lecher.'' She corrected herself as she looked at the ground and covered her face. Even if it made her insides fluttered that Naruto was interested in her and cared about her she still had doubts and was self conscious about her lack of figure. Will was so self conscious about her breastsize she didn't stop to thinking about her lower developments and didn't notice her hips were starting to fill out quite nicely.
''But I'm your Lecher...'' He said kissing her neck causing her to squeak and involuntarily raising her shoulders.
''And cheesy too...''
''Quiet you...'' He said as the bell for the next class rung. ''And now it's time to go head to head with my Nemesis!'' Naruto stated dramatically as his eyes narrowed.
''You mean Art?''
''Oh wait we have art next? Well then never mind...''
Will sighed and shook her head. Sometimes she wondered if Naruto was really just that crazy or he was just fooling around. Either way she loved him all the same.
''More training!'' Irma cried out with a groan as Naruto brought her to a forest. She thought she wouldn't have to worry for another four days. This was surely going to be torture. Some of the ground was upheaved at different elevations and there were numerous different trees which included redwood and oak woods which was quite strange now that she thought about it. Some of the other trees she noticed weren't known to grown in this part of the country either.
''I've been cultivating numerous spots of different landscapes of wherever I travel. I add a bit of variety in each destination with unique hybrid seeds and because they are hybrids they can naturally grow and survive where there parent trees couldn't. One of my hobbies happen to be gardening and I try to make amends by trying to replace a bit of nature in exchange for what I destroy during my battles. It's difficult you know. Having to main a balance between creating somehing and destroying it. When you think about it, its like trying to balance the nature of being a person. Balancing the good and evil in one's heart. A lot of people think they found this balance, but very few know the true meaning of being able to balance the natures. Having a dark side and suppressing it only to use it a few times or beating it does not mean you understand both sides. Using skills from both sides or drawing strength from both sides doesn't you mean you understand the balance either. It's coming to terms and truly experience and learning what it means to embrace and have to live with both sides even if it means for the rest of your life is the closet most will come to understanding that meaning. ''
''Sounds like thinking about it causes a migraine. Maybe some aspirin can help find that balance.''
Naruto couldn't help but smile at Irma's grin and joking tone. ''You may not realize it, but in the way you're what is known as the other heart?''
''Other what?'' she was obviously confused by his comment.
''The heart is often the kindness or spirit of the team. The loving person that eases tension and brings out the best in people. Your the type of heart that's spunky; the heart that has a lot of spirit. Your kind hearted nature can bring light despite the darkness of a situation. But we shall worry about such things later. What I figured was we could kill two birds with one stone. Talk and get to know each other. For instance besides Gardening I have a knack for Astrology as well. It's actually very viable and reliable when interpret the right way.''
''Hah! And Corny thought I read too much into tests and such things. So what sign are you?''
''Libra...'' Naruto answered.
''What happened to training? Not that I'm complaining of course,'' Irma said massaging her ankles. Even after two days her legs were still killing her.
''Training just doesn't have to be physical. It could be as simple as mental conditioning and meditation. I was born October and I assume Karmine told you the rest of the story...''
Irma nodded with a gloomy look on her face. The thought that people could be so cruel. She knew that there were monsters in human form from what she heard from history but...''
Naruto raised his hand as water solidified into a small sphere.
''Whoa! You definitely be a big help if we ever find ourselves in a desert.''
Naruto moved the sphere close to his chest. He moved his other hand over it as a chill radiated from his position. Slowly the sphere of water began to freeze over. ''Watch...'' That's all he said in a soft and firm tone.
Irma watched patiently as the ball was beautifully crafted and shaped into some sort of frozen crystal. Inch by Inch the light-bluish water took form of an awe aspiring jewel. She had never seen such a process in her life. She began to wonder if she would someday be able to do what she was witnessing.
Naruto meticulously moved his hand over the object several times as his fingers defined and shaped the surface. Every stroke would shed a way a drop of water or a chunk of frost until it came one step closer to a masterpiece. The crystal turned and spun in every direction after Naruto finished each rotation. The finished product levitating in Naruto's left hand a few inches above the palm as if being repelled by gravity.
With his right hand, his one finger poised a gust of wind zeroed in on the tip. Slowly the wind started to form, an aura of energy similar yet different from Hay Lin's silvery cues and a lot more powerful. While Hay Lin's wind was wondrous and free like a breeze the power Naruto literally had at the tip of his finger was raw and powerful like a typhoon or hurricane. Irma couldn't help but shiver and hold herself.
The thought of ever having to face Naruto as an enemy frightened her. In danger or otherwise Irma was always able to keep her head even enough to joke. She didn't tend to take things as serious as most people and as such leaned towards being a bit cocky and immature at times. Though, that didn't mean she could pull her act together and focus. Here before her was a guy who had his neck broken and shook it off like nothing.
She began to think...what if he had never arrived? What if the girls had to continue their destiny alone without his and his guardian's aid? What if it would have been one of the other girls to have been captured that day or even all of them? So far his presence was most important to Will. He was her friend and if not by now something more. What would have happened if a less confident Will was in charge of them? If they knew less about their enemies then they did now. Irma shook away the thoughts with a groan. It was just too much to think about all at one time.
It scared her to say the least. While she loved having the power of water and the prospect of being able to do new things with it excited her it meant she would have less time being just Irma. No more pulling pranks with Hay Lin, though they really hadn't done that in years. No more spending days on end crushing on cute guys. Well, at least for her Naruto was quite the visual eye-candy. It also helped that his whiskers gave him an animalistic look at which Irma had to stop herself from shivering when thinking about them. There she go with her thoughts going all stray again. Looks like Hay-Hey was rubbing off on her more then she realized.
''What do you think?'' Naruto asked her as he held up the completing object. The crystal was attached to silver looking chain of ice that glowed the same color of that chakra energy that Naruto used. What she was almost made her eyes water. On it carved in by wind was the Letter I. With a squeal she threw her arms around Naruto's neck and pulled him into a tight embrace.
''This is the nicest thing any guy has given me. You're the best boyfriend...well the only real...well the only guy I've dated even though this is supposed to be fake. Gah! My head is going Topsy-Turvy thinking about it.''
''It happens to the best of us. Anyway I wanted to get you something special...even though we're supposed to be pretending I have this weakness for cute girls who can't seem to keep there hands off me,'' He teased as Irma suddenly found herself doing an impression of a rose. ''Though I don't think this faking is going to last for long. Maybe we can fake the relationship while at school, but date while were out and see where this goes.''
''I think I'd like the sound of that.''
''You know what...let's just skip the training and just go get a snack. I heard Kuiinshi gave this couple a loan to open this desert sh...'' Naruto didn't even finish as he found himself being dragged back into town. 'Damn! This girl really loves sweets!'
The two found themselves at a booth sharing an Ice Cream Sundae. ''How the hell can you still have room after three different pieces of cakes, a platter of cookies, a root bear float, and a piece of pie. Someone like me with a high metabolism I understand but damn...''
''Hey what can I say...I pace myself.'' She answered cutely as they both shared a laugh. The two of them were unaware that on the way home Taranee had just caught sight of them. The new Desert shop happened to be on the way to the cook residence. ''Naruto and...Irma?'' It was obvious that will had deep feelings for Naruto. Her determination to the captured blond and there bond was pretty obvious to the observant.
''So Cornelia told me all about your guy fascination...'' Naruto said surprisingly calm; though on the inside he was laughing his ass off.
''She did what!'' Irma nearly screeched. ''Who was it? Not Andrew I'm over that horn-dog and...she didn't tell you about Stephen or Micheal did she? I'm going to kill Corny!'' She declared as Naruto burst out laughing.
''I was just teasing...three names off the bat huh?''
''Y-You tricked me!''
''To be honest I thought it was going to be a bit harder.''
Irma proceeded to promptly swat him for his trickery. Whap!
Naruto held his arm and pouted, ''So mean Irma...better not let the Enemies from MM find out. All they had to do is snatch up one of the guys and throw in your path and that's one guardian down. Four to go.''
Irma hit Naruto in his arm a few more times, blushing furiously as the blond laugh. ''Okay...stop I give!"'
''You're such an ass...'' She said crossing her arms and turning away, pouting childishly.
''Aaw...are you mad?'' He inquired as Irma hmmped.
''I'm upset with you...teasing me like that...'' She said and was going to remain form when Naruto grasped her chin. She lost all composure when Naruto turned her to face him. She found herself being lost in his eyes.
''I was only just teasing my little water goddess,'' His lips were a few inches apart from hers. Irma felt like she was going light-headed.''Its it ok if I kiss you?'' He asked as Irma nodded. Wrapping his arm around her waist Naruto began kissing Irma.
That was all Taranee could watch as she ran off. Tears streaming from her eyes, as she cried for Will. After everything Will had gone through why would Naruto betray her like that? Wasn't it obvious how Will felt? Instead he went and pursued another one of their friends, another Guardian. And how could Irma betray them like this as well.
Tuesday came around and it was a rather mundane day. Nothing like a Monday though. Nobody liked Mondays. What Taranee saw made her blood boil. There was Naruto waiting by Will's locker as if nothing happened. The hallways were mostly empty as it was still pretty early. She couldn't help but growl as she walked over to Naruto, a fierce glare in her eyes.
''Hey there Taranee good morning. I see you came here early as well?'' Naruto asked, just looking up from sensing her presence when she slapped him...hard.
In such a friendly presence Naruto had let his guard down. Even when he saw the slap coming he didn't move. He didn't anticipate she had any reason to slap him...and definitely not that hard for any matter.
''Taranee!'' Will cried out in horror seeing the exchange. She couldn't believe her female best friend would slap her male best friend/boyfriend. They were still in the transitioning phase.
''Why did you do that?''
"Sorry Will, no wait I'm not sorry you wanna know why? Because I saw this two timing Asshole kissed Irma at a cafe!" Taranee shouted as she pointed at Naruto.
"He did What?" Will said in disbelief at the accusation. Naruto and Irma were supposed to be faking dating, but damn did they have to move so quickly.
"He kissed Irma like this." Taranee exclaimed in her blind rage as she grabbed will and mimicked what she saw. Her emotional state at the friendships lost and possibly havoc among the team overtaking her logical side.
Naruto's eyes went wide as something in his pants stirred a bit. ''Holy shit! It's like a chocolate and Vanilla swirl...I'm so going to hell for that. Wait...is that moaning? From the both of them. I must have done something to greatly pleased someone up stairs...thank the lordi!'
And as luck would have it for the first time that year Irma happened to show up on time.
"Is this a bad time? I didn't think either of you were into that sort of thing, but hey who am I to judge,'' The snickering from Irma seemed to bring the two shocked girls back to their senses.
A red face and slightly dazed Will spoke first.''Taranee..''
''Y-Yes Will...'' Taranee stuttered horribly. What was I thinking? What if Will is disgusting by me now?
"I actually knew about the date. Naruto agreed to 'fake' date Irma to keep a few undesirable off the back and if I can say one thing...Wow...that was certainly an interesting...something." Will said surprised by her friends action.
''If you girls ever want to give a demonstration to each other concerning something like that I'd be free to help...would I ever be free!'' Naruto exclaimed as he made sure that he would never forget this scene.
