Cornelia Hale was known to be a great number of things. She was beautiful, a compliment she heard from most of the student body, particular the male students from one time or another with her shining blonde hair. Her eyes were that of a beautiful crystal blue that could be quite enchanting when peered into too long. She was slender not to mention quite tall given and along with her smooth silky skin gave her the features of a model. She was confident, assertive, and popular to say the least.

It finally came to the day when it was her turn to go out on an outing with Naruto.

At first she didn't think too much of the blond when she initially met him. It was bit and pieces throughout the weeks that piqued her interest which led to her putting together the pieces of the puzzle.

He was strong, or from what she heard and little she witnessed he seemed powerful. Strong enough to survive what a normal person wouldn't after all.

He also seemed rather kind and easy going. She really began to notice whenever he popped up there was a slight change in Irma and Taranee's demeanor. The latter was more prone to speak up and the former seemed more attentively quiet whenever the whiskered teen spoke only to have a sly comment afterwords.

Cornelia, when she was being completely honest to herself found the blond attractive. Sure he didn't have the big hulking physique of a football player, but something tell her he didn't need it. Cornelia was not one to be charmed so easily.

Cornelia stood up out of her bed and set about getting dressed. Locating a proper outfit was a bit of a challenge if you were Cornelia though. Her room was always a disaster zone and today was no different. Clothes were strewn all over the room, making it impossible to see the floor in some places. Pages upon pages of homework were everywhere, some of it dating back as far as the previous month.

One of her ice skates was hanging haphazardly underneath the window and the other was nowhere to be found. Her old skating trophies were overturned and some of them were also on the floor. Despite all of this mess however, Cornelia managed to locate the perfect ensemble to make Naruto sweat a bit. An ocean blue sleeveless top that did up around her neck and showed off just a tiny bit of cleavage. That paired with a pair of somewhat tight fitting (especially around the rear) pair of blue jeans and a beautiful white belt with a 10k gold buckle.

It was at that moment as she was assessing herself in the mirror her phone went off.

The girls a few days prior had exchanged phone numbers with the blond so they would have an easier time keeping on contact. ''Well Mister Uzumaki...let's see just how strong this charm of yours is,'' She mused as she flipped over the phone.

They arrived at a restaurant that wasn't too expensive or high class, but definitely wasn't cheap either. It was fancy enough to take reservations, but didn't cost an arm or leg if you were middle class. It was a classy sea-side place with an ocean view and situated by the Ocean Marina. They were sat at the table which included complementary bread sticks. Two glasses of ice water was set as the waiter left to return with there drinks.

''So Miss Hale I assume you're enjoying yourself so far?'' Naruto asked as he took a sip of his water.

''It's okay I guess...'' Cornelia had been out on dates before. Either they were slobs and cheap sakes at which revolted the blonde to leave before the date was over or if they had money they were snooty and mostly spoke about themselves. Some of the jocks she dated lack finesses and proper matters and the others stumbled over there words the entire time. Though it didn't fail that at one point or another focus went from her face to her cleavage.

''I was thinking about the beach. I don't think this dry sunny weather is going to last long if last month's stormy weather was any indication.'' He took another sip of his drink.

''Heatherfield's winter season is coming up. Do you enjoy the holidays?''

''Aah yes...initially I never celebrated them growing up. I had few people to celebrate them with but that changed over the years. I have to say I had a rather large fondness for holidays as a result. What about you? If I remember correctly you have a little sister don't you?''

''The little toad that is unfortunately my little sister.'' She remarked as Naruto smiled.

''She may get on your nerves, but having a younger sibling is precious. Most people don't realize how precious it is to have loved ones. That's something you should cherish."

''I guess you're right.''

Cornelia wasn't used to this kind of talk on dates. Even if the other blond wasn't coming right out and saying it the words he chose and the way he said it was indicating that he grew up as an orphan.

Cornelia opened her mouth to reply when she was interrupted by their waiter. "May I take your orders, sir, madam?" He asked placing their ice-teas n the table.

Naruto was the first to speak, ''I'll have the Steak, Well done, and baked Potato with butter and Sour cream.''

"And for your date?"

"I'll have the grilled salmon with a Greek side salad and I'll keep to my water."

The waiter, quickly wrote down the orders. After a bit of the usual server banter and letting them know how long their orders would take he walked.

''Cornelia," The blond began, his expression becoming serious which was a bit startling to the guardian of Earth. "There's something I've noticed and been meaning to talk to you about. ''

''Oh? And what's that?'' Her curiosity was now piqued.

''Have you been having any strange dreams lately?'' It seemed such an odd thing for him to ask.

That placed a curious look on Cornelia's face. ''Dreams?''

''About a person in particular? Or a place you've never been too before? Think hard about it.''

''It's difficult when you don't know what you're looking for. I didn't say anything before because I didn't want to alarm the others, but it feels like a compulsion has been placed on you.''

Cornelia nearly dropped her glass upon hearing the word. The light chink of the bottom of her glass crashing against her plate was quite audible. Naruto lowered his voice so the nosy restaurant goers couldn't here. "I think someone is trying to compel you into going to someone's side or to someplace. The reason I asked is because I've been seen my fair share of them.''

''Can you get rid of it?'' The usually calm Guardian of earth was nervous. She didn't even want to think about what she could end up doing under this compulsion. What someone could get her to do.

''I don't know just yet. I'm not sure due to two reasons. The person has to be sufficiently powerful; meaning not a normal being and the compulsion, which type I'm unaware of is very specific. I'm not sure when it started, but I do know that the person must have had some suspicion you were the Guardian or Earth otherwise it would have been pointless to use such a subtle and long acting compulsion if you were a normal human. If it were more obvious then it wold more likely alert the others to your change in behavior. Most compulsions are activated by a sight or sound, usually beginning with dreams.''

''What if I'm compelled to attack the others or innocent people? I don't think I could live with myself if I did.'' She was on the cerge of panicking.

''Don't worry...I'll keep an eye out for any signs. Until then keep this between the two of us. If you continue to act as if nothing is wrong we'll eventually find out what this compulsion is and I should be able to counter it.''

Cornelia was about to respond when their food was placed in front of her. "That was quick." She looked at her salmon, grilled to perfection how had they done that in such a short time.

''You didn't think I bring you to a place with poor service did you?'' Naruto inquired as he sliced his baked potato down the middle.

''If I didn't know better I would say you were trying woo me...'' She playfully teased, trying to get her nerves back under control by distracting herself.

''Hhm? Depends. Is it working?'' He replied with his trade-mark grin.

The dinner wasn't too sociable, they were more attentive to eating then finishing their discussion, at least until after they were done eating.

''Hehehe...'' Naruto couldn't help but chuckle. ''You tore that Chocolate Cheesecake up.'' He added referring to the rarely made chocolate treat. The look of bliss on her face was worth was worth shelving out a few extra dollars.

''Oh yeah!'' She exclaimed with her balled up fists on her hips looking quite indignant at her fellow blond's teasing. ''I wouldn't talk if I were you mister three pieces of chocolate cake.''

Naruto shrugged, ''My metabolism is quicker then a snowball being melted in the sun. I can afford to eat that much.''

''Well...it's not easy maintaining this figure with a regular metabolism.'' She grumbled, feeling jealous at the fact her metabolism wasn't as generous.

When she finished she nearly backed up in surprise as Naruto had closed the distance between them in an instant. ''Wha?''

''...you trust me?''

''Huh?'' She replied, her mind becoming filled with haze.

''Do you trust me?''

''I g-guess...'' She felt a twinge of pink coming to her cheeks. Though shortly afterwords she felt a voice screaming in her head. 'No! No! NO! NOT THIS ONE! HE IS NOT THE ONE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WITH!'

''Then just let me...'' He started softly as he leaned forward only to be met with a fierce slap. ''Gah! What's with you Witch girls and slapping a guy.'' Naruto grumbled as he massaged his right cheek.

Cornelia suddenly came back to her right mind. ''Naruto! I'm so sorry I didn't mean...'' A shiver went through her spine. What was that feeling and what was that voice?

''But your body moved on it's own. According to the voice!'' He said, causing her to freeze in mid-stride.

'Y-You...you heard it?''

''It was in your voice, but not your voice all the same. Someone is indeed trying to compel you and to a specific guy a that. Are you sure there's not one guy in mind that you can think that you haven't met?''

''Yeah..if you're counting guys from my dream,'' She replied jokingly then stopped. ''You don't think...''

''It's a possibility,'' Naruto replied as he moved his hand to the cheek. He noticed the worried expression on her face and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him as if to ask him why. It was obvious by her shaking she was deeply troubled by this.

''Why? What's the purpose? Why compel me to be with a guy I know nothing about?''

''Maybe it's part of a plan. It could enemy or ally. If its an enemy then it would be an obvious attempt to weaken you and cause a rift between you and the other girls. If its not an enemy then either its an attempt to give you someone to prevent you from being distracted by romance or the exact opposite hoping it would spurn you off romance and steel your resolve in your duties. Maybe even this relationship , though temporarily could aid the side against this Phobos and they were willing to make this sacrifice for the greater good." Naruto never liked that term. He always hated it. It was just an excuse to manipulate things for your own aims for the sake of some idolized and flawed version of good.

''Well what about me!?"' She exclaimed, trying her best not to scream. Her frustration evident by how tense she was coming, ''What gives them the right to use me in such a way? This is my life and I should choose to be who I want to be with.'' It began to scare her when she thought about. What if other decisions she made her by someone else machinations and not her own? What if she was compelled into being a guardian as well? What was her choice and what was what someone else wanted from her. Hot tears stained her cheek and she hated that more then anything. To be weak was not something she ever wanted to be; never again. She gasped when Naruto pulled her into a comforting hug.

''The moment you give in they've already won. You are Cornelia Hale the tough Queen Bee of Sheffield Institute and the Guardian of Earth. Stand strong and show those bastards your no one's puppet.''

She sniffed and found herself becoming relaxed in the hug. Even that annoying voice couldn't ruin the situation. Though that did pose a bit of problem. When was it that voice instead of her own inner monologue that made a decision about something and influenced her choices.

''You feel better.''

She nodded in response, ''Yeah, but that still doesn't quite solve my problems.''

''Well now that we know what type of compulsion it is we can work on it one day at a time. But if we're going to permanently fix it were going to have to find out who you're compelled to and break the hold. Though we can worry about that later. Let's put our minds to something more positive.'' Naruto suggested hoping to finish off the rest of the day on a more positive notes.

So anyway I've done a bit of reading and research. I know this series has magic and all that, but isn't it kind of weird (Talking about Comics) that Caleb and Cornelia had dreams about each other long before meeting and just not too long after fell for each other? So I wanted to add a bit of realism to explained this convenient connection. I mean the dude was originally a plant right? So yeah the next chapter will be NarutoxHay Lin focus.
