Disclaimer: I don't own Disney. I don't own Descendants. Greek Mythology is Public Domain. Some of these characters belong to Ginnyrules27. I do own this version of Rhea and her namesake of Pyrenea. Cute lil Godling that she is.
There's a few chapters planned that actually take place before this, but this little bit just kind of popped in my head. Haven't really been in a writing mood, and I've got two weeks of training for my new job left, so I've just been exhausted all around.
Ginnyrules27: You are far braver than me if you can withstand trying to hug the big, bad lord of the dead! Demeter is definitely coming around, and Zeus…well. He has his moments.
Bluebird: Unfortunately, Kari and Agnar are not in this series. They are exclusively part of the Watch and Learn Timeline. This series focuses on the Choosing installments.
SnowWhite45: Thanks so much! Almost every chapter is planned to be a fluffy mess!
Timeline: Late April, Early May. About 9 months after the Royal Wedding. After Choosing Home, Before Choosing Life.

"Hi, sweet girl," Mal crooned at the bundle in her mom's arms.
The newly-crowned Queen of Auradon had teleported mere minutes ago, rushing over to her parents' home in the isolated forests some miles outside of Auradon. The moment Ben had reminded her that it was her day off, in fact.
"Wow, not even a 'hi' for your old man?"
"Nah, you're not nearly as important right now," Mal teased as she took a seat next to Persephone on the sofa. "How are you doing mom? Holding up, okay?"
"Getting there," Persephone smiled softly. "Still quite exhausted, but it's been worth it."
"Well," Mal drawled, "Despite my own queenly duties, I'm available. Like right now."
Persephone's lips twitched in amusement, glancing down at the baby in her arms.
"I might take you up on that to be honest," the Goddess smiled weakly. "Hades helps where he can, and the other Goddesses come in and out, though that drives him up the wall. Pyrenea might just be fussier than your brother was when he was born. She's so picky."
"Oh, so you're admitting it's dad's fault?" Mal joked as she reached over to brush a blue curl from her sister's brow, smiling as Pyrenea stopped trying to eat her hand and instead stared wide eyed at Mal.
"Wha-my fault? Please show your math," scoffed Hades.
"Mal's got a point, dear," Persephone laughed. "Even if it was for my benefit, you constantly spoke to Rea in utero. I think it's obvious by the way she settles easiest when you hold her."
"A real papa's girl already," joked Mal.
"You say that like it's a bad thing," muttered Hades. "I'm going to get lunch started."
"Chicken?" Mal perked up.
"Only because you're here," Hades amusedly shook his head.
"You really wouldn't mind watching her?" sighed Persephone.
"Huh? Of course not, mom!"
"Good, because I really do need a nap," Persephone smirked. "She's been freshly changed, so don't worry about that. She'll feed once your dad wakes me up. I haven't had time to make any new bottles, so she'll just have to wait until her schedule allows it."
"Schedule?" Mal wriggled her nose. She happily held out her arms as Persephone settled Pyrenea into the embrace. "You don't feed whenever she cries?"
"Not every cry is one for food," Persephone shook her head. "You'll learn to tell the difference if not by instinct if you become a parent. She's fed every couple of hours anyways, in about forty-five minutes actually. Honestly, she only cries at night when she's super hungry. Seems to do well with the schedule enough that she'll only get fussy during the day, but not full blown ravenous until about halfway through the night."
"Awww, you're such a good girl, aren't you, Rea?" cooed Mal. "Go ahead and get that nap, mom. I'll take good care of her."
"I know you will," smiled Persephone, before heading up the stairs to catch up on some much needed sleep.
Until lunch would be ready, Mal settled with her little sister and began to chatter. Pyrenea didn't seem to be as enraptured by baby books as their brother had been at her age, but she seemed to love being spoken to. Though if Mal were honest with herself, it may have just been because she was a baby and didn't really have the eyes to understand even pictures yet. She shoved down the pang of regret in knowing that she hadn't been there for Hadie in his first few weeks of life.
As the purple-haired Godling went on a torrent of silly laws and policies, Pyrenea broke into a smile. As if agreeing that the other policymakers were indeed idiots.
"Oh yeah, they're almost as dumb as Pain and Panic," grinned Mal. Her smile widened as Rea's eyes seemed to focus at the mention of their dad's minions.
"Aw, do you enjoy dad's work rants? No wonder you're so sweet! Maybe you're not full Auradon as mom if you enjoy a good minion bashing," Mal giggled with just a touch of her Isle self, peeking through.
A gurgle and coo broke from Rea, arms and legs bouncing about as if trying to jump while lying down out of excitement.
Mal pushed down the urge to squeal aloud. She couldn't even let a small one peep from her lips as her dad was a short distance away preparing the late lunch, ready to rush over in a moments notice if help was needed.
Another coo fell from the Godling's lips nestled in Mal's arms. Mal smiled brightly down at her little sister. It was one of the rare days Mal had off from integrating into being Queen now that she was married to Ben, which she normally would've had planned ahead with a hangout with friends or her cousins. It was last minute, but she felt this was perfectly good reason as to cancel on Uma, Macaria and Elle. At some point they would get to come, but until Pyrenea's 'Welcoming Day', the newest Godling would be sequestered away with few visitors as per Olympian tradition.
Until then, Mal would happily enjoy one on one time with her new baby sister. Well, one on one time as much as it could be until their mom woke up from her nap, or until their dad was ready to serve food.
"Without a doubt, as soon as dad is done cooking, he'll whine until I hand you over," Mal muttered as she bounced Pyrenea. "But not this time."
"What corruption are you whispering into her ears?"
"As if I would ever do such a thing," scoffed Mal as she saw Hades peer at them from the dining room. Hades squinted in suspicion for a moment before shaking his head, turning back to set the platter in his hands on the table.
"Lies," Mal whispered with a chuckle. Pyrenea simply cooed once more, a toothless grin spreading across her face. "Aw, you're so adorable, it's hard to believe your dad's."
"Wow," Hades frowned as he entered the living room. "In the words of your mother, I can be adorable."
"I'm just teasing dad," Mal said as she carefully stood. "Besides, Hadie and I are both amazing looking, and we're yours too."
"Uh huh, you're just kissing up now that you can smell the food," her dad replied as his hands fumbled trying to take off his 'Kill the Cook' apron. "Now hand over your sister."
"No, I think I'll continue to hold her a little bit longer."
"Maaal."
"Daaad?"
"Gllah?" Pyrenea titled her head in confusion, bursting into a babble of random noises as if to add her own two drachmas.
"Fine," Hades sighed, amused. "I'll go see if your mom is up. She hasn't eaten in quite a few hours and needs to keep working on getting her energy back."
"I'll grab Rea's basket and get her settled at the table while you're at it."
"Feel free to nibble at the veggies, but don't you dare get started on the chicken until we're all seated," Hades exclaimed, finally free of his apron as he headed towards the stairs.
"Hey, I don't have Hadie here to compete with today!" protested Mal. "I'm capable of self-restraint, it's just harder because Hads will sneak some, and there's no way I'm letting him getting first pickings!"
"He's your little brother."
"Who is already taller and therefore has a longer reach than me."
"Which is why I hand out portioned cuts now instead of allowing y'all to act like you were raised by the hyneas." Hades shook his head and began to make his way up the stairs. "Go take a seat, Malinda."
"Ha, see, Rea?" Mal chuckled as she grabbed the baby seat meant for the high chair and got her sister situated. "I told you I would find a way to hold onto you for a little longer."
Pyrenea only responded with some dribble getting on her light blue onesie as she stuck her tiny, pink tongue out. Nuzzling her nose against the small button nose of her sister, Mal settled Pyrenea into the carrier and locked it into the high chair. With an extra check that the seat was stable and the belt was in place, Mal pulled a glass of water on the table closer to herself for a drink as she waited for their parents to return.
"Agah?"
Mal turned back to Rea as she took another sip. "Nope, not yet. You'll get your drink-meal combo when mom or dad gets back."
"Eehba!" Pyrenea squealed, chubby hands reaching out as if to take the cup.
"No, sweet one, babies don't get water yet." Or at least that's what Mal had been told by her mom, anyways. Good to know for when she had her own kids in the future, nothing but formula or breastmilk until at least six months old. Even Godlings, which were slightly more developed than their humanoid mortal counterparts, had nothing but breastmilk from their mothers.
Mal felt she could have gone without knowledge from the other Goddesses that the ones who represented fertility could basically turn it 'on' or 'off'. Important she supposed, but not something Mal wanted to think about.
Whipping out her phone, Mal proceeded to take a photo to send to her cousins she had 'oh, so, regretfully' called out on. Thankfully they knew not to go spreading any photos around, or Mal would've simply burst from the inability to share the cuteness overload.
With ice blue hair in a mess of curls, clearly from Persephone, and the expected deep blue eyes from both parents, Pyrenea was the latest—and hopefully last—in the triple set of 'accidental joys' in Hades' and Persephone's hearts. Though Hades had gotten a small slap for that comment.
Even if he wasn't wrong. None of their kids had been planned.
And while not totally proved right, Mal knew her mom was more than just a smidge smug that in the odd sectoral heterochromia of Pyrenea's eyes, was a slice of forest green on the lower-inner corner of her right eye. There were a few spatters across the normal furrows of the iris, blending colors like any other being's eyes, but they were less noticeable amongst the intense gold speckling that all Gods had.
All that mattered was she had a new baby sibling; girl or boy wouldn't have mattered anymore. The biggest thing that her parents kept nagging about, that Mal would gladly remind herself too, was that blue plus blue really could equal green.
"Oh good, you haven't touched the chicken yet."
Mal rolled her eyes at her father's voice.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence dad." Mal offered her mom a side hug and smile as the Goddess approached, planting a kiss on both her daughter's heads. "How old do you think I am? Five?"
Persephone shook her head as she lifted Pyrenea out of her basket and settled her into a loose sling hung around her shoulders. The Godling had started making fussy noises at the sight of her parents, very much ready for her own meal.
"You're old enough to make yourself a plate, at least," Hades said. "Go ahead while I make one for your mom."
"Hades, I can get it myself," sighed Persephone. "Just give me a bit to get Rea settled—"
"Ah buh buh buh!" Hades protested. "You're still exhausted, and even with the weird bottle maker, you've been stuck taking care of Pyrenea alone while your mom and I work. Let me take care of you while you take care of my kid, Steph."
"Weird bottle maker?" Mal asked her mom.
"Aphrodite came by a couple weeks ago," Persephone gave a wry smile as she leaned back, babe greedy against a breast. "The contraption confused the Tartarus out of your father."
"Yeah, weird, torture looking machine," Hades grouched, setting a plate down near Persephone's free hand. "Knowing Aphrodite, it could've been for anything from the bedroom to scuba diving."
"No need to exaggerate, Hades."
"I think I'm too scared to ask more anyways."
"Good, now eat your lunch, Mal," Hades ordered, waving his own fork towards Mal.
"Gladly!"
