Garp had done it. He had found a way to convince Luffy to be a marine. His plan was simple.
1. Find a nice girl
2. Get Luffy married to said girl
3.?
4. Luffy is a marine now
"Garp this is a stupid idea," Sengoku said. "No way this gets that grandson of yours to become a marine."
"Just watch it'll work," Garp said
"Alright fine but how are you going to find a girl that's willing to marry a 15-year old that wants to be a pirate?" Sengoku asked
"I already have"
"What!?"
"You remember that rising marine captain that resigned"
"Bellemere was her name right"
"Yeah turns out she resigned cause she had 2 daughters"
"Ok…"
"I'll ask her if she wants to marry one of her daughters to my grandson to continue her marine duty of stopping pirates from setting sail. She'll agree. Luffy will be married and he'll give up on being a pirate and want to become a marine instead," Garp explained
"Garp you've had stupid ideas but this might be your stupidest idea yet"
"Oh just shut up and watch me turn my grandson into a great marine"
"This is gonna be a train wreck"
And so Monkey D. Garp set out on his mission. First, he grabbed his grandson from Dawn island promising a fist of love if he didn't come along. Second, he set out to the seas and headed to Cocoyashi village with his cargo. Finally, the time came and they arrived at their destination.
"Listen up Luffy you better behave or else"
"But Jii-chan"
"No buts Luffy or else I'll give a fist of love"
At the promise of his Grandfather's affection, Luffy quickly stopped his complaining. While walking down the road Garp recalled one important fact he didn't know where Bellemere was. Luckily for him, he saw a man with numerous scars walking down the road.
"Luffy stay here"
"But I'm hungryyyy~"
Garp answered his grandson's cry with a fist to the head. Unfortunately, Garp underestimated his grandson's hunger. The site of a tangerine grove was too much for the young D. to bear and he quickly and silently set out towards the grove.
"WOOAHHHH look at all these fruits'
"HEEYYYYY what do you think you're doing?" The question came from an orange-haired girl that looked around his age
"Eating"
"Well stop that. Those tangerines aren't for you"
Before Luffy could respond to the orange-haired stranger his stomach let out a loud grumble.
She sighed "Come inside"
At this invitation, Luffy walked inside the small house. The girl walked into the kitchen and started preparing some food for him to eat. after some time she finished and put a plate of food in front of him. In between shoveling the food into his mouth Luffy said "Thanks so much, this stuff tastes great"
"No problem just never touch those orange trees again you hear me"
"YEPP"
" So what's your name"
" my name is Monkey D. Luffy I'm going to be King of the Pirates"
The declaration that he wanted to be King of the Pirates turned the girl's face red with anger.
"Why would you want to be a pirate their all evil"
Before he could respond the sound of a tree being chopped was heard from outside.
" Kuroobi what are you doing"
"Arlong-san wanted some oranges and we know you have them so I'm bringing him some"
"STOOPPP you can't touch those trees"
" Silence human," he said as he went to smack her. Before he could a hand grabbed his arm.
" Who are you"
Luffy still holding the arm said "Monkey D Luffy future king of the Pirates"
" King of the Pirates?" Kuroobi questioned. "Oh I get it Nami this is your next plan to try and get free from Arlong-san. Just give up you're going to be serving us superior Fishmen for the rest of your life"
Had the so-called Superior Fishman been paying attention however he would have noticed that the grip on his arm was getting much tighter until CRACK.
"AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"Kuroobi exclaimed. "My arm is broken! I'll kill you"
Unfortunately for the Fishmen, He was laid out in one hit.
"Jerk that's what you get"
He was promptly tackled to the floor by the orange-haired girl. "Thank you, thank you, thank you," she said
"Nami," she said
"Nami what?" he asked
"That's my name," she replied
After getting up from the ground Luffy asked her, "Why do you care so much about these orange trees anyway Nami"
"Their the last thing left from my mother," Nami explained
"Oh so it's your treasure then huh"
"Yeah I guess you could say that the grove and the village"
"The village too why?"
Before she could respond a man with a saw for a nose came walking into the grove
"KUROOOBIIIIII"
"Arlong!"
"I was wondering what was taking him so long," Arlong said. "Nami I've always tolerated your plans but this time I won't let them slide. By the time I'm done the village will be a smoldering ruin!" Arlong said furiously
He charged at Nami but he was stopped midway by Luffy.
"Oi what do you think your doing human"
"Fighting you idiot"
And thus their fight commenced right there in the grove. It was a brutal slog fest. Blood was getting everywhere. Luffy knew he had to get Arlong out of the grove or he would risk destroying the grove.
"GOMU GOMU NO BAZOOKA"
The attack hit the Fishman in the middle of his chest sending him flying out of the grove and into the rice fields. Luffy quickly rocketed towards him with Nami in hot pursuit.
"You fool how dare you attack me"
"How else am I supposed to fight saw nose"
"DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS NOSE IS HUMAN"
"An ugly nose"
"NO THIS NOSE SHOWS MY SUPERIORITY OVER YOU HUMANS"
Luffy was getting bored with the shark's dialogue so he punched him in the face.
"Oh just shut up and fight"
The battle between the two raged on throughout the rice fields. And unfortunately for Luffy, he was loosing
"SHORYO NO MIZU," Arlong said
The water hit Luffy like a shotgun blast sending him flying to the ground.
"Do you see now human us Fishmen are much superior to you puny humans? All it takes is a little bit of water to kill you," Arlong fired off more SHORYO NO MIZU attacks sending them hurtling towards Luffy. With each hit, Luffy felt himself getting weaker and weaker. HE had to find a way to dodge these things
"LUFFFYYYYYY," whether it be from the fact he was near death or from Nami's scream something awakened in Luffy. He could see where the water going clearly. He could feel the emotions of Arlong and Nami, he could sense Gramps and someone else coming their way in the distance. Luffy dodged one then another and then another until none of the water blasts could hit him. He could see Arlong's attacks even though he shouldn't have been able to. He kept on dodging and getting closer to the shark Fishman. Until "GOMU GOMU NO PISTOL."
BOOOOMMMM
Luffy's hair clouded his vision as his blackened fist smashed into Arlongs gut sending him flying. Arlong crashed into the cliffs with a loud DOOOOOMM. But it wasn't enough.
"SHARK ON DART"
The attack hit him head-on. "AAAHHHHH," Luffy screamed. Luffy collapsed to the floor. Arlong walked over to Nami grabbing her by her neck
"SHAHAHAHA. Do you see now Nami nothing you can do can take me down and once I'm done finishing off the brat I'll destroy the village," He said taking big gasping breaths between each word.
Luffy could only hear him his body lay motionless. He wanted to pay Nami back for the food she gave him but he was at his limit. He remembered his brothers Ace and Sabo. Sabo had died before he could fulfill his dream. Ace was at sea now. He had read about Ace getting the ability to control fire. If only he could do that then he could vaporize the stupid fish. He needed Ace's strength.
"Ace give me your strength," he thought.
And then he stood up. "Get your hands off of her," Luffy screamed. His voice seemed to carry out an aura that slammed into Arlong paralyzing him in fear. Luffy drew back his arm. The limb stretched back as far as the eye could see then he launched his fist forward the blazing black fist made contact with Arlong's skull shattering it into a million pieces.
