17 years after Galen's parent's deaths.
Interior: Rogue Shadow.
Whilst meditating, Galen heard an elderly woman's disembodied voice, "A General, such as you must be, needs an army, as he needs those he trusts."
Marek said, "If you have a message, please proceed."
The voice continued, "The Mandalorians have died their death that lasted millennia.
Now all that remains is their redeemer's code, their history, and in the end: the shell of their armour upon the shell of a man who shall be too easily slain by Jedi.
A unique one of two worlds of rivals shall suffer yet again but continue to be the bane of the Sith and other such villainy."
It dawned on Marek who was speaking to him, "Have you any further foresight to share, Arren Kae? Or do you prefer Kreia? Or Darth Traya?"
"So you know my names." said the voice who continued, "Fall shall the Jedi Knights by the end of their war alongside the army of synthetic men.
For their ignorance shall the High Council lead the Jedi to ruin.
After so long, the Order has still not learnt what I had hoped to teach them in order to save them.
Beware the coming Jedi Purge."
After a moment, she resumed, "Under the Council's watch spreads the tyranny, corruption and influence of a Master Sith Lord in front of their noses.
A young one whose heart and soul are pure shall be reborn in their beloved's arms after the galaxy feels her death by the hands of evil incarnate."
"Why do you tell me this? Why me?"
"Ones I loved and taught share your bloodline. And for that, I love you also, Galen Marek."
As his meditation ended, Galen checked his helmet's recorder to see if he'd recorded the voice.
Activating his holotable, Galen greeted, "Su'cuy, Buir."
"Hey, ad. What's going on?" asked Jango.
"I was meditating when I received a message from a long-dead Jetii.
I think she foretold your death.
Somehow I recorded it, so I'm sending the relevant part to you in hopes you can make some sense of it."
"That Jedi stuff's not my thing, but I'll have a look." replied Fett before the call ended.
Contacting the temple, Galen greeted, "Su'cuy, Jetii Council."
Yoda inquired, "Help you, how may we, young Marek?"
"Mid-meditation, I received a message from Revan's teacher, Arren Kae."
The holograms of the Council exchanged looks of alarm, confusion and shock.
"Say what, did she?"
"Doubt you'll believe it, or take it seriously, but here comes a recording of it." shrugged Galen who sent a copy of the message directly to the Council.
Later.
Exterior: Tatooine, Dune sea, sand people enclave, evening.
As he landed the Rogue Shadow, Galen disembarked to see the welcoming committee and A'sharad Hett who'd also arrived.
As several Tusken Raiders approached, the hosting chieftain said, "Identify yourselves."
The Tusken Jedi gestured, "We're Jedi sent to oversee the peace negotiations."
One of the warriors approached Marek, looked him in the T-bar visor, and grunted, in Tusken, "One wrong move, and we'll kill you,"
"That's cute," scoffed Galen.
Later.
As the negotiations seemed to be going well, Galen and Hett sensed a disturbance in the Force before a Tusken walked over.
Hett turned to a Tusken scout who'd arrived, "What's happened?"
The scout pointed to one of the warlords, and made a series of grunts and gestures causing everyone to stand up in outrage.
Turning to warlord Azog, Galen ripped off his mask, "Gar have nayc ijaat, gar hut'uun!
Leave gar weapons bal go, gar don't deserve them."
The dishonoured fled as Galen took their gaffi sticks and stored them in the cargo hold.
Then he sensed a familiar presence clouded by overwhelming rage, "Anakin…" then flew off in his ship.
Shortly thereafter.
Exterior: Tatooine, Tusken camp, evening.
The Rogue Shadow landed near a campsite as Galen saw a blue blade cutting down Tusken Raiders.
Seeing Anakin who's eyes were glowing yellow, Galen, without his helmet, raced over to his friend, ignited his saber, and shouted, "Anakin! Stop! Now!"
As Anakin turned, he rushed at and relentlessly slashed at Galen who quickly used reverse gripped Shien and Soresu in self-defence, not wanting to hurt his friend.
Attacking a Tusken Raider with all of his hatred fuelling him, Anakin growled as he realised something different about the new adversary.
A Tusken dared to wield the Force as he was pushed back.
The idea of such a monster being taught the ways of the Force was perverse to the enraged Padawan.
Between strikes, Galen implored, "Anakin! Anakin, stop!
I don't want to fight you, but I will if I have to. Now you need to calm down," but his words fell upon deaf ears as Skywalker only heard Tusken grunts.
30 mins of intense duelling later.
Finally going on the offensive, Galen caught Anakin off-guard with light vaapad.
Then quickly changed to Niman to throw Skywalker off before casting electric judgement, sending him to the ground, and reaching out through the Force.
"Oh, for kriff's sake," groaned Marek.
Sensing an external force manipulating Anakin's mind, clouding his emotions, and amplifying his darkness and rage whilst cutting off all other feelings, Galen used a Force power he couldn't identify to free his friend from the influence of the dark presence.
Coming to his senses as his eyes returned to their natural blue, Ani asked, "Huh? Oh, what the hell?" as he found himself lying in the sand, on his back, with a bronze blade pointing towards him.
Extinguishing his blade, Galen extended his hand and helped him up, "So, I was here on a consular mission.
I'm guessing your mum was abducted, and you were looking for her?"
With tears running down his face, Anakin informed, "I found her… she's dead… these monsters killed her."
Galen comfortingly hugged his friend, "Hey… she may be dead, but she's not gone."
"What do you mean?"
"Ani, no-one's ever really gone. Your mother will always be with you… in your heart.
She and everything she believed in lives on through you and through her memory.
She's with you in spirit as part of the Force."
Anakin knew it wasn't quite what he wanted to hear, but it was what he needed to hear, "Thank you, Galen. I need to take my mother back to my stepfather's farm and bury her.
What will you do now?"
"Well, I've got business in Mos Eisley. But please give my regards to Padme."
"I will."
As the inside of a tent glowed, Shmi, whose wounds were healed, emerged, "Ani?" before her son shed tears and lovingly hugged her.
Galen stuffed the gaffi sticks into a bag before flying off to a massive enclave belonging to the tribe that ruined the negotiations.
Later.
Interior: Mos Eisley spaceport, docking bay 94.
Landing his ship, Galen, as Kane Fett, disembarked with two heavy duffel bags and was met by a dark haired woman and a trio of pit droids.
"Oh, it's you again, Fett.
Anything I can do for your ship?" asked the mechanic.
Kane nodded, "Just need some fuel,"
"Got it."
Interior: Mos Eisley, bounty guild outpost.
Slowly entering with the two bags, Kane approached the collection desk, "I have a bounty to collect on," and put them on the desk before the contents were revealed to be hundreds of gaffi sticks.
"Oh… you've been busy."
"Give Ni te black market lightsabers and beskar I'm owed in full. Give 20% of the currency I'm owed to the refugees of the Tusken raids."
"Are you some kinda humanitarian, Kane?" asked Fennec.
"I'm a simple man making ner way in te universe."
"Fair enough, handsome." she said as she eyed him with interest.
"Ni hear a Jetii put a bounty on you, Ms Shand," teased Kane who sat down, "Ni liser bring gar o'r warm, ra Ni liser bring gar o'r ciryc."
Sitting in his lap, Shand innocently asked, "Oh? How warm were you thinking, Kane? Warm like this?" and brought his hands to her hips before kissing him.
A couple days later.
Exterior: Geonosis, landing pad, droid foundries.
Galen/Kane disembarked from the Rogue Shadow, and was met by Poggle the Lesser and Count Dooku.
"Well, aren't we popular today?" chuckled the Count.
Kane greeted, "Su'cuy, Lord Poggle, Count Dooku. I am Kane Fett,"
Intrigued, Poggle asked, "Why are you here?"
Holding out a bounty puck producing a hologram of Padme, Anakin and Obi-Wan, Kane answered, "Subparagraph 16 of the Bondsman Guild Protocol compels you to immediately produce said assets."
"And if we were to deny you?" asked Dooku.
"You really don't want to find out, aruetii."
A familiar voice said, "Well, this is awkward,"
Turning to Jango, Kane replied, "Buir? Seriously?"
"The Count's currently my client.
I actually tried to convince them not to execute your quarries, with no luck.
They're going to detain you too if you stay around much longer, so get going."
Disappointed and feeling something off, Kane frowned behind his helmet, "Love you too, dad," then saw Boba nearby, "Stay out of trouble, vod'ika."
Boba nodded, "You too."
As he turned towards the Count, the young Mando said, "Count Dooku, for custody of my three quarries, Skywalker, Amidala and Kenobi, I challenge you to a duel."
Amused, Dooku nodded, "I accept your challenge.
Our duel shall be in the arena of justice, tomorrow, at mid-day."
Kane nodded and shook Dooku's hand, triggering his psychometry, but he didn't need anyone to know that.
Later.
Interior: the Rogue Shadow, cockpit.
Making sure he was on a secure frequency, Galen addressed the Council, "I've successfully made contact with Archduke Poggle and Count Dooku.
Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Senator Padme Amidala were detained on charges of murder and espionage.
They were going to be executed in the arena of justice. But I've convinced them not to, yet," and sent some heavily encrypted files including maps.
"What do you mean 'yet,'?" inquired Plo.
"I've challenged Count Dooku to a duel, which is to take place in the arena tomorrow, at noon.
It's the perfect place to ambush any sized extraction team.
He's agreed to release them if I can defeat him."
"You did what!?" asked Mace, whose eyes widened.
"Wasn't talking to you, di'kut." snapped Marek.
"How's the weather?" interjected Depa.
"I'm glad ni came dressed par it.
Never run into te midst of a raging thunderstorm, nor heavy hail, nor rain without a raincoat or umbrella.
Don't rock climb ra spelunk o'r gar pjs. The Jundland wastes aren't to be travelled lightly,"
"Anything we should know?"
"Ni built some new toys par gar.
Te wifi's strong ti all te hotspots.
Val kept te batteries charged.
Written hive minds remain no longer o'r te heads of all metal men.
Ni had strings, but now I'm free, there are no strings on ni.
Play gar cards carefully when gar gamble, lest gar be undone by an idiot's array of hubris."
The only one oblivious to the coding, Ki-Adi asked, "What?"
Marek continued, "If one has the gifts of Shan and Sunrider, they'd be wisest to sit on the side-lines."
The Council nodded in acknowledgement.
"There's one more thing: I sense the dark side in Dooku.
He may be a Dha'Jetii." informed Galen who cut the transmission.
Later.
Interior: Geonosis, dining hall.
As he sat at the end of the table, Kane/Galen took note of who exactly made up the Separatist Council, and was careful with his food, and only drank water.
Making small talk, Dooku questioned, "What if I told you that the Republic was under the control of Darth Sidious?"
"I'd say I've suspected that for years, but your Council is arrogant, Jetii."
"I've become more powerful than any Jedi."
"Then I hope you can handle the responsibility that comes with it."
The next day.
Interior: Geonosis, Petraneaki arena, afternoon.
Having had a goodnight sleep and prepared for the duel, Kane/Galen had two spare lightsabers and Obi-Wan's in addition to his standard one.
Thousands of Geonosians were in the stands.
Padme, Anakin and Obi-Wan were each chained to a poll.
Dooku drew a different hilt to his curved one, "I hope you don't mind if I use a different sword. As a Mandalorian, you should recognise this," and ignited a thin black blade, "I took it from Jaster Mereel when I slew him on Galidraan."
Marek drew his sword, "I remember, I was there. and You're trying to distract me by making this personal."
"So you were the Force adept the Mandalorians were raising.
This sword belongs in the hands of a Mandalorian.
Surely the chance to reclaim it makes you more determined to win. More focused."
As Dooku made the first move, he slashed at Galen who parried whilst using Niman.
"Ah, so you've chosen to use Niman with your sword. A respectable form. The only downside is its lack of especially powerful strikes."
"There are many ways to find victory. I don't have to overpower you, I just have to outlast you."
Dooku parried a strike before they stepped back from each other and paced around each other, maintaining eye contact, then cast lightning at the boy, only for it to be absorbed and sent back, knocking him off his feet.
As he got up with a grunt, taken aback, Dooku smiled, "That's a nice trick, and your control is that of a Jedi Master. You're quite gifted."
As they exchanged strikes, slashes, lunges, parries and counters, Marek asked, "So, how's my form?"
Observing his adversary's movements and sensed a startling level of power from him, the Count praised, "Quite splendid. And you have fascinating variants of the movements," then narrowly parried a reverse gripped slash.
"Reverse grip: gotta love it," quipped Galen as he countered several strikes before returning to standard grip.
"It has its moments, though I find it peculiar." admitted Dooku, "it may look ridiculous, but I must say you make it work quite nicely."
Two hours later.
Finishing analysing the Makashi master's movements and patterns, Galen found an opening as he suddenly changed to his adaptation of form VII, catching the Count off-guard as he also imbued his sword with Force energy whilst disarming him and sending him to the ground.
Dashing back, Galen reached up high, caught the darksaber in his hand and stood over the Count who was sitting up as he lay on the ground.
"You are beaten," said Galen who sheathed his blade and stepped back.
"You're sparing my life?" asked Dooku who encouraged, "why don't you go ahead and kill me?
I killed several members of your surrogate family, in front of your very eyes."
"I won't kill an unarmed man."
"Very honourable, my young friend.
You're aware the darksaber is now yours? You've won it in single combat."
As he rose to his feet with Galen's help, the Count smiled before Poggle called, "Let the executions begin!" much to the surprise and dismay of the Jedi and Padme.
Looking up at Poggle, the Jedi and Senator asked, "What!?"
Dooku sternly frowned, "I shall see what I can do to stop this," and made his way to the observation deck.
Then a large Acklay, Reek and Nexu were forced into the arena.
Anakin commented, "I have a bad feeling about this."
Looking up at the Count, Galen gestured to his friends, "I'm getting mixed messages here, Count.
Ni just won cuun duel, fair bal square. Gar need to ijaat cuun deal."
Poggle interjected, "It's out of his hands, boy. Now you will all die,"
Swiftly incapacitating the beasts and freeing his friends using the Force, Galen asked, "Before we do anything we regret, is there any other gladiator I can fight?
If a single duel doesn't convince you to honour our deal, how about I defeat another of your fiercest warriors?"
Poggle lied, "Very well."
A menacing four-armed cyborg jumped down into the arena, snarled, "I am Grievous, slayer of Jedi!" and ignited 4 lightsabers.
"I don't care," replied Marek.
Aghast, Obi-Wan's eyes widened at the sight of the cyborg monstrosity.
Anakin shouted, "Galen, don't fight that thing alone! Let me help you."
"Stay out of it, Anakin! You've done enough!" snapped Marek who began duelling the cyborg whilst using form V.
As the two duellists went at it, Grievous taunted, "Surely you must realise you are doomed."
"Oh, I don't think so."
Despite having four lightsabers, the cyborg couldn't find a weakness in his young opponent's defences.
Then he was Force pushed into a pillar which fell on top of him before using one of his sabers to cut himself free.
Grievous unleashed a flurry of vicious strikes and slashes upon Galen who parried every single one of them.
Sensing imminent danger, Galen leapt high into the air as Grievous began spinning two of his lightsabers like a windmill.
Outflanking the mechanical monstrosity by landing behind him, Marek cut off his arms whilst firing a repulsor, sending the cyborg flying forwards with a shriek of pain.
Sending Grievous into the air with another repulsor blast, the Mando slammed him to the ground with a grappling hook.
Then pulled the cyborg towards him, and cut off his legs before the second-rate junk was turned into sushi sized pieces of scrap metal.
Galen muttered, "Cheap piece of junk, probably wasn't even the real one," then asked "are we done here?"
The answer came in the form of several droideka's rolling in but Galen cut them to pieces before they could switch to attack mode.
"You gotta be kidding me."
Shortly thereafter.
As they arrived to reinforce the three Jedi and the Senator, 500 seasoned Jedi Knights and Masters ignited their lightsabers, and joined a fight against a growing swarm of battle droids.
All of them had come properly dressed for such a battle and most of the strike-team were wielding spinning saberstaffs, except Windu.
A vast armada of Venator and Acclamator-class cruisers arrived, deploying a massive army of soldiers in white armour and helmets with T-bar visors, as well as various types of troop transports and artillery.
To the Jedi's surprise, the droids had their weapons set for stun, but they didn't let that distract them.
Elsewhere, Yarael Poof and Oppo Rancisis used battle meditation to aid the strike team instead of participating in the actual battle.
Cutting down a legion of super battle droids with both blades of his orange bladed saberstaff, Galen saw something out of the corner of his eye that pissed him off.
Clenching a fist upon seeing Mace decapitate Jango, Galen shouted, "Noooooo!"
Taking off his helmet as he breathed heavily, Galen was overcome by a raw, untamed fury that shook the entire arena, turning it and every nearby structure, including several droid factories, to dust whilst his eyes burned bright yellow as he caused lightning from the sky to instantly destroy several dozen droid factories before the skies cleared.
As the clankers turned their attention to him instead of the other Jedi and began surrounding only him, Galen unleashed raw Force Fury and single-handedly cut down 1500,000 of them without breaking a sweat, while lightning completely incinerated another 3 million.
Turning his gaze to the Geonosians, Marek stared at them as they backed away, turned tail, flew away, and ran for their lives.
Dooku and the Separatist Council were already hastily retreating.
Present Jedi, including ones who'd been suddenly awoken upon sensing Marek's rage were both amazed and terrified by such a display of raw power, as were Padme and Boba.
Now staring directly at Mace, Galen growled, "You! You murdered ner Buir! Gar shabla shabuir! Kriffing hut'uun!"
"I did what I had to, boy," dismissed Windu who boarded a gunship and flew away.
Galen looked ready to kill Mace when a soothing presence nearby completely calmed him down and snapped him out of his rage.
As Aayla looked into them, Marek's eyes returned to their natural blue and he tightly hugged her.
Shaak Ti rushed to Boba's side to comfort the little boy who cried into her shoulder, "Mum, what's going to happen to me now?"
"I'm not sure, but I know I love you very much.
We're family, and family takes care of each other."
"Thank you," replied a tearful Boba, "and I think we should get out of here."
A day later
Exterior: Coruscant, Jedi temple, landing pad, mid-afternoon.
Furiously disembarking the Rogue Shadow to see Mace talking to Vos, Galen, whose helmet was recording, shouted, "Murderer!"
Tackling Mace to the ground in a blur, Galen punched his face in, threw him against several pillars with the Force, blasted him with electric judgement, hit him in the gut, picked him up by the collar, and threw him to the ground.
Then he kicked him in the face, picked him up, dislocated his right arm, broke his left arm, kneed him in the lap, and knocked him onto his back.
Disarming Windu of his lightsaber and beating him until he coughed up blood, Marek stepped back and aimed a westar-34 at the bastard's head.
"Oh, shit, you've really screwed up this time, Mace." gasped Vos.
Staring at his young attacker whilst grunting in pain, Windu provokingly coughed, "Go on, do it, you piece of trash.
Kill me now and you'll only prove what I've always known.
That you've never belonged here.
You're just some sad little orphaned bastard pretending you're worthy of being a Jedi.
An unstable, ticking time bomb whose existence is a desecration and heresy of the sacred Jedi code."
"You're trying to provoke him into doing it? What's wrong with you?" questioned a disgusted Luminara who appeared.
"You murdered ner Buir! He didn't do anything wrong!
Ni should kill you right here!" shouted Galen as he pulled the trigger after altering the trajectory at the last fraction of a second.
As the blaster bolt missed him by millimetres, Mace found himself lost for words.
"But I'm not giving you that satisfaction."
As his eyes turned back to blue, the young Mando holstered his blaster, punched the bastard in the face, knocking him out, then telekinetically threw him against a wall.
Vos carefully asked, "Aren't you going to finish him?"
"He killed ner Buir, knowing it'd push me over the edge.
Right in front of me… Buir didn't do anything wrong.
He was on our side of the fight," said Marek who removed his helmet, "and Mace took him from me… for no reason at all."
Vos began, "Maybe it's-"
"Quinlan Vos, don't you dare say 'the will of the Force,'," warned Marek whilst holding up a silencing finger, then he fell to his knees with tears running down his face.
"Wasn't going to."
Quinlan and Luminara knelt beside Galen and brought him into a hug.
"If this is what it means to be a Jetii, then Ni should just stick to ner beroya work."
"Your what?" asked Unduli.
"I'm a mercenary, remember? I help people, and take down scum and villainy."
"Who's someone big you took down?" inquired Lu.
Bringing up a hologram, Galen answered, "Chop'aa Notimo. Ending him brought me a sense of ease after the things he did to me and hundreds of others."
Concerned, Luminara asked, "What'd he do to you?"
"He's the one who tortured me, on Dxun nonstop, for months while my psychometry went off during every second of it."
"Are you ok?"
"I'd be worried if I was," said Marek as he rose to his feet.
A few hours later.
Interior: Jedi temple, council chambers.
Entering to see the full Council and Luminara were present, Galen took off his helmet so they could see his furious scowl.
Speaking first, Seasee Tinn sternly asked, "Padawan Marek, do you know why we've called you here?"
"Because a bastard decided 'oh, I'll murder this boy's father and see what happens when he loses control during a fight,'?" sarcastically asked Marek.
Dismissively, Ki-Adi replied, "You wouldn't have lost control if you weren't so attached to Jango Fett."
The rest of the room knew that wasn't helpful.
"Kriff off, gar di'kut!" shouted Marek, "you don't get to comment, you schutta!" with a silencing finger.
Luminara frowned at the Council, "This was sickeningly cruel to do to him."
Shaak Ti agreed, "With the rage radiating off Galen at the time it happened, and the display of raw power that followed, we should be grateful he managed to maintain some control and restraint.
If he truly lost all control of his powers, he might've destroyed the entire planet."
Oppo stated, "Master Windu deliberately caused Padawan Marek to lose control of himself. This was disgraceful."
Even Piell said, "We'll need Galen level headed if he's to aid the Republic war effort."
Marek challenged, "Tell me this: what do I owe the Senate, that I'd play soldier for them? Why should I go to war for them?
Is it to protect the wealth, investments and interests of corrupt bureaucrats, and the profit margins of the corporate alliance?"
The Council knew he wasn't wrong.
Depa chimed in, "Given both sides of the politics, motivation and morals of the warring factions and their allies, this is a war we cannot ignore.
But we're not soldiers."
Marek inquired, "What aren't you telling me about this?"
"We're going to be using the clone army." answered Mundi.
Seething with anger, Galen clenched a fist, "Absolutely not!"
"What's done is done, young one. And Palpatine was denied emergency powers by the Senate, so the clone army is ours."
Still frustrated, Galen let out a sigh of the slightest relief.
Having stayed surprisingly quiet before a solemn sigh, Yoda said, "For this, forgive the Council, you may never, Galen."
As the ancient Jedi pointed his cane to the door which opened, almost the entire Council rose to their feet in shock.
An unmistakable voice greeted, "Hey, ad."
Slowly turning, Galen's eyes widened in shock as he dropped his helmet, without realising, and tears ran down his face.
After blinking to make sure it wasn't a spice dream, Galen stopped shaking as he asked, "Buir?"
"In the flesh."
Running up to and tightly hugging Jango, a relieved Galen said, "I thought you were dead."
"I know, and I'm sorry I had to resort to such a deceptive plan.
Your warning warranted precautions."
As his tears stopped, Marek stepped back, "I'm not sure if I want to kill Mace more or less right now."
Fett smiled at his eldest son, "Fair enough. Bal jate job getting the dha'kad back, honourably.
Jaster would be very proud of you, as I am."
"Thanks, Buir."
The Council felt Marek's Force presence drastically lightened.
Galen firmly stated, "I don't agree ti te akaan. This war isn't for a righteous, noble or just cause.
If it was against our true enemy, I wouldn't hesitate to fight it.
But you're literally ignoring yet another warning from the Force."
"Who would you rally to in the face of the true war you speak of?" inquired Plo.
"I'm a Mandalorian… there's two people whose full allegiance I owe: the Mand'alor, and Revan himself.
Yet I see neither of them in this room rallying their forces to arms."
Abruptly bursting in, Kota informed, "The people of Taris are under attack!"
"For kriff's sake," thought Marek who turned his gaze to the council, "I'll go to Taris with the old man to fight this battle. After that, I'm not sure."
Everyone present nodded in acknowledgement.
Activating his comlink, Galen said, "Proxy, get my starfighter ready."
"Affirmative, I shall prepare the Rogue Shad-"
"My D-7, not the Shadow. The latter has some modifications I need you to make so it's properly equipped for space warfare."
"Warfare, Master?"
"Just get the ships ready!" snapped Marek.
"Yes, Master, right away."
