To Nojiko everything had happened so fast. She had left the Island to sell some of Bellemere's oranges. She was only going to be gone a week. In the week she was gone everything changed. Arlong had been defeated, her island had been freed, and currently, Genzo and Garp were discussing how to get Nami and Luffy married. She liked Luffy. He was a good kid. She had no doubts that Nami would eventually end up marrying the boy given how close the two had become in just a week. But she still wanted her sister to live her life a little before she ended up marrying the boy. But Genzo and Garp had gone into hysterics about the whole thing. Genzo because Nami was an "innocent maiden" and Luffy should take responsibility and marry her. Garp because there was someone that was probably willing to marry his grandson without being paid to do so.

"We could just sign marriage forms for them and then that would be the end of it'" Genzo suggested

"No, we would need their consent. We can't break the law we aren't pirates" Garp said

"How about you let the two of them decide when they wanna marry each other," Nojiko said

Genzo and Garp gave her a look that screamed not.

"I got it!" Garp said. "Leave it to me."

Thus the plan was placed into motion. Garp the brave hero that he was made his way to Nami's house to blackmail… I mean "suggest" that she and Luffy should get married. When he got there he found only Nami inside.

"Nami marry Luffy!" Garp said

"Too straightforward!" Genzo and Nojiko said as they faceplanted into the ground.

"Wha-!?" Nami said blushing.

"Listen Nami if you don't marry Luffy now you won't be able to do so in the future," Garp said

"What is that supposed to mean?"She asked

"Luffy will be King of The Pirates one day. The World Government wouldn't let him fill out the paperwork to get married." Garp explained. "If you wait now you'll lose the chance to marry him"

Garp's plan made no sense at all. Nami and Luffy were going to be pirates they didn't need the World Government to sign any papers to get them married they could just say they were married and boom they would be married to one another. PIrates could do whatever they wanted after all. However, Garp was a Monkey D. and Monkey D.'s have a divinely ordained ability to have things go their way no matter how horrible a plan seems or how impossible the odds are.

"Fine," Nami relented

Nojiko couldn't believe it. The stupid plan had worked. It seemed impossible but this was happening. Her sister was gonna get married to a guy she had only known for a week. Nami went outside to the orange grove and called for Luffy. The straw hat-wearing boy appeared with a basket attached to his back that was filled to the brim with oranges.

"What is it Nami?"

"Marry me."

Garp, Genzo, and Nojiko watched with baited breaths as they waited for Luffy's reply.

"Ok," he replied. "Oh I got all of the oranges you asked me to get"

"DON'T JUST MOVE ON SO EASILY!" the three schemers in the background yelled with spikey teeth.

At their screaming Luffy realized that the three spectators had been there the entire time. Luffy looked back at Nami and saw that she was bright red from head to toe.

"Oi Nami are you getting sick?" He asked concerned

"Y-yeah I am" she replied

"Are sure Nami? We are married now so you don't have to hide if you're sick from me." Luffy said

This caused Nami to turn even redder.

"You two aren't married yet!" Genzo said

"What of course we are Nami asked to marry me. I said yes. We're married now," Luffy said with ease. Luffy's logic works in mysterious ways. The others just thought he was an idiot and made their feelings known. The three tried to explain that there hadn't been a wedding yet so the two love birds weren't married yet. Luffy of course disagreed saying that Nami was already his wife. Every mention of the words wife and wedding caused Nami to turn redder and redder until she started to resemble a red sun. This went on for quite some time until an embarrassed Nami smashed all of them bar Nojiko over the head with a rack that was leaning against the wall. Once everything settled down Nami explained to Luffy that there had to be a wedding. When questioned by Luffy Nami responded by saying "Cause we can get free presents." With the promise of free presents, Luffy immediately agreed to have the wedding. And so the wedding planning began.
