The next morning, Emmett received a call from said person, informing him that he would arrive in less than an hour.
Edward got out of bed with the help of Emmett, and then I was moved to the living room.
"Emmett just told me that Dad's going to be here in twenty." He told me as Rose and Emmett rushed around the house trying to tidy up.
Rose fixed the bed in the guest room, and the master bedroom. Emmett folded in the corners and followed her to the laundry room.
"You cornered my sheets?" I asked amused.
"Uh-huh." Edward said as he leaned back.
I scoffed, "He's not going to inspect our bed." I told him.
"You never know." He replied, as he rubbed his hands together.
Rose had already unpacked his things and stuffed them into the bottom drawers.
"I hate wrinkles, Bella." He told me when he saw her.
"Well, I hate the way you say my name, Commando." I sniped.
He narrowed his eyes at me before leaning to say something only for Henry to push him away.
"I knew I liked that kid for a reason." I chuckled as he scowled at me in response.
Rosalie rolled her eyes at us before pulling out a pretty good picture frame, and placing our wedding photo in it.
She then placed it next to the one I had of my mother and I in the foyer, adding three other frames before turning to give me a thumbs up.
Edward looked down at the rings in my hand before pulling out his dog tags, and fiddling with it.
He gave me a ring made from the chain a moment later.
"What's this?" I asked as he slid it into my right ring finger.
"Call it a momento." He told me as he slid his ring back on and tags around his neck.
I rolled my eyes as everyone walked back into the room. Rose handed me a bowl of fruit. "I want cheese sticks." I mumbled.
"I'm making a garlic, cheddar bake later. You can wait." She told me as she handed me, yet another, glass of water.
I pouted, chewing on a piece of apple.
Emmett chuckled as he pulled out a pair of cheese sticks and handed one to Henry and one to me.
"Emmett!" Rose warned.
"Don't want her looking like you kicked her puppy all day. Come on, babe, she's craving it. Let her be happy." He told her as she sighed and stood up.
She disappeared into the kitchen, and came back with more cheese sticks, and marinara sauce.
"Fuck yeah!" I whispered, licking my lips as we heard the sound of a car door slam.
Rose frowned as she stood up and went to open the door. "Language." she whispered as Emmett covered Henry's ears.
"What are you guys doing here?" He asked as he walked in.
"Bella called me yesterday. She needed help so we rushed over and stayed the night. We'll be staying for a while to help her." She told him with a shrug.
Carlisle gave her a suspicious look before nodding in response. "You ready to go?" He asked Edward.
Edward nodded, as I leaned over and he moved forward to peck my lips. "Yeah. Let's go." He said as Emmett stood up.
All three men disappeared through the door, leaving Rose and I holding our breaths as we listened for the engine to start.
I realized I had to quit working nights at Waylon's due to stress, so I called Kate and told her I was having health problems, and telling her to tell Waylon and the band that I would be there on Friday, but couldn't make any of the rehearsals this week.
When the call finished, I grabbed my notepad and began to hum a new melody, as I began to write.
"I hate…" I sang to myself.
The performance on Friday was canceled, unfortunately, due to a family emergency in Kate's and Garrett's family.
I got a call to attend a gathering at a label for Wednesday.
I was nervous as I slipped on a pair of shorts and a loose white t-shirt, slipping on my wraparound sweater.
"Hello everyone, thank you for coming out today. This is someone we are considering for a label. Isabella Swan." Amyn introduced.
I smiled as I began to play the melody to the song.
"Let's go, Be." Ben said with a large smile.
"Okay. Okay. It's not ready yet. But there's a little something I've been working on." I said as I began to play.
"I hate the way you say my name
I hate your picture-perfect lips on mine
If I could, I'd cut the breaks
I hate that I can't help but stay all night
When you look at me, I'll have to turn my face
If I look too long, I'll never look away
Babe, I wasn't praying for a saving grace
Unfold your fingers, let's go back to nothing
And I hate the way I say words that I laughed at before
And I hate the way my thoughts aren't mine, now they're yours
Look at what you've created, something borderline sacred
I call it overrated, go on and call me jaded
'Cause I hate the way I say words that I laughed at before"
The applause sounded around the room as I smiled and laughed at their response.
"That was amazing." Ben said as he looked at Amun.
When the gathering ended Amun asked to speak to me alone with Ben.
By the time I made it back to the house, Rose told me Edward had gone to the park to get some exercise.
"I got her." He told me as he motioned to the garage.
I followed him to the garage, to find a large golden Labrador sitting by the car.
"Her name is Peaches. She's already trained to be a companion." He told me with a smile.
I kneeled down, "She's adorable." I say as she whines.
"You ready to meet your new owner, Peaches?" He asked with a smile.
She whined again.
"Let's go in the car." I told him as I dropped my bag on the couch.
"I'll drive." He told me.
I sighed and handed him the keys as he handed me her leash.
"He's going to be pissed." I told him.
Emmett chuckled as he got Peaches in the car. "No doubt about it." He said as he opened the door for me, allowing me to slide in before he closed it and made hide at around the car.
"Well, aren't you the little gentleman?" I teased.
"Our momma taught us well." He said as he backed out.
"You mean taught one of you." I mumbled as he drove us to the park.
I made my way towards the gym at the park, smiling as I felt the wind in my hair. He looked up as I approached.
"Hi." He breathed.
"Hi." I greeted as I made my way towards him.
"You're back early." He noted.
I nodded, "Yeah." I affirmed looked around, and rocking back on my heels.
"Okay, well, I'm, uh… I'm almost done." He informed me.
I nodded, "No rush." I told him.
I watched him strain as he did lifts on the bars. Muscles straining under his shirt as he pulled himself up, and lowered him back onto the ground.
Grunting as he strained to do the exercises.
"Look at you. Doing so much better." I whispered with a proud smile.
He looked over at me, sweat dripping from his face as he smiled breathlessly. "Yeah." He said, looking down as he lowered himself to the ground again. "Slowly, slowly." He grunted out.
The sound of barking alerted us of a dog's fast approach.
"Hold up, girl!" Emmett called after Peaches as she ran across the park towards us.
We both turned into to see Peaches run up and down a small hill and Emmett struggle to catch her.
"Hey, Em, did you get a dog?" Edward asked surprised.
Emmett finally caught her as she sat in front of Edward, wagging her tail. "Are you crazy? I've got a six year old back at home. She's for you." Emmett said with a breathless smile.
"Her name is Peaches because she's from Georgia." I informed him with a wide smile as I reached down to stroke her head.
She whimpered as I kneeled down, "Peaches, hi! Sit!" I cooed as I continued to stroke her fur.
I gasped amused as she sat down, "Paw. Good girl." I cooed as she lifted and handed me her paw.
Emmett turned to look at him, as he reached down to stroke her fur. "See? We got training and everything done for you." He told him.
Edward sighed, crossing his arms over his chest, as he stared angrily away from us as he leaned onto the bar.
"We read that dogs can be really helpful for guys like you. Healing from injuries like yours." I told him as I stood up.
"Oh really?" He asked, annoyed.
"I read it." I told him with a nod.
"Then she texted me." Emmett supplied.
"I don't need you plotting behind my back." He told us annoyed, as he looked away..
I inhaled sharply as I reached down to pat Peaches' head again. "Well, too bad, because it's good for you." I told him as I grabbed the leash and placed it forcefully into his hand.
He ground his teeth, looking down at the leash with pure annoyance.
"Guys like me. What? Like a cripple ?" He asked in obvious anger, as he exhales, throwing the leash on the ground. "I don't need your pity. All right, have it your way!" He snaps as he limos two steps and turns to look at me. "Listen, I know what's good for me. I can make decisions for myself." He tells me.
"People don't say 'cripple' anymore." I told him, plainly.
He scoffs and shakes his head before lowering himself into the chair. "This is bullshit." He grumbled.
"You know, it's okay to accept help sometimes." I told him.
Emmett sighs, "What the hell, Edward?" He asks, obviously angry at his reaction.
Peaches whimpers as she goes to get the leash, dropping it proudly on Edward's lap as she waits by his legs.
It caused Emmett and I to laugh, "See? Peaches gets it." I tell him.
He throws me an annoyed look, before sighing, "Fine, I'll take her." He grumbles, making Emmett and I laugh at him.
She rises onto her hind legs to lick his face adoringly.
"Good girl, Peaches. Good girl." I cooed at her.
Emmett laughed, "Good girl." He says too.
Edward shook his head at us as he patted her head.
"Let's go home." He grumbled.
Emmett quickly pushed him in the direction of the car as I grabbed Peaches and her leash.
