…Flashbacks…
Chapter 14
The next few days passed with an underline tension between Winter and Steve… maybe it was the anticipation or the wariness, but all Steve knew was that he felt like he was being watched like a hawk by Winter who was waiting for him to lower his defenses to strike. Things after that night became easier in a way… nothing dissolve overnight as all of their problems disappeared after the heart-to-heart… but things became easy and the misunderstanding subside a little; something that Steve was grateful for, to finally be able to have a glimpse of Winter's thoughts without manipulation even if it was for a little time. The days passed, and Steve was grateful that Winter finally started to speak up more about what he likes and what he hates without the fear of angering Steve, or hiding it because he deemed it not that important; the days passed, and Pepper and Winter spent their days in the garden, planting it for the spring that was just around the corner, always returning home covered in dirt but have gentle smiles on their faces (Even if Winter tried not to show it, the gentle quirk of his lips and his relaxed body after a day in the gardens said it all). For Steve, that was a win, and he was ecstatic about it, accepting it with welcoming arms after the months of misunderstanding and miscommunication that put both Steve and Winter on the edge…
The days passed and Winter's next appointment approached; this time with much anticipation on Winter's part, thinking that if all things are said and done, then Steve would sleep with him. a fact that made Steve uncomfortable and worried, wondering why his mate was so desperate to complete their bond even when he had his mark; did he still think that Steve would get rid of him if the two of them didn't have sex, or was it something more? Nevertheless, Steve had made sure to tell Daniel what took place between him and Winter that night, knowing that a move like this could make Winter feel betrayed, but at the same time, Steve wanted to have a professional opinion about the madness that Steve had thrown himself in without knowing how to get himself out of… for everyone's sake, Steve accepted being blamed by Winter, if it meant that his mate would get the therapy needed instead of thinking of this session as nothing more as an evaluation for agreement of sex. It made Steve glad when at their appointment; Winter had managed to open up to Daniel, even if it was a sliver of what he confessed to Steve. Even the few words Winter decided to share with Daniel were a win in everyone's book as they decided that Winter is ready to start his journey of healing and moving on.
So yes, Steve was accepting any blame Winter would subject him to, especially when he already know about what Daniel was going to tell Winter today. Today Steve can say was one of the 'Good' days, if he had anything to say; Winter had willingly talked with Daniel about his experience and even opened up a little, even when he closed off and his face fell when Daniel told him it was not the right time for Winter and Steve to start any sexual relationship. It took hours for both Steve and Daniel to talk and get through Winter and his anger about not having sex with Steve… hours… but thankfully by then was placated enough to accept waiting for a little while until he once more demanded… Steve couldn't help but worry about his mate every time he thought about it.
So in the honor of a day gone well, Steve decided that Winter was ready enough to explore the town… or at least sight and see if the Omega was placated enough and not too stressed by the thoughts of a large crowd; something that was OK-ed by Daniel who thinks that Winter should know his way around in his future home. That idea came to Steve mainly because Pepper told him about how she started to teach Winter the do's and don'ts when starting a garden and how she could always see the spark of interest in Winter's eyes. That fact alone made Steve promise himself to buy any and every gardening tool or type of seed and help Winter start his small garden if it would get him to smile and loosen up a little. And maybe after finishing with their small trip to the garden center, the two of them can go to the Maximoff siblings' candies and café and introduce his mate to them; knowing the two of them, they had been waiting to break into Steve's home and meet the mate that the whole town had been talking about. It seemed that after the initiative shock and fear of his mate's returning to the world as the Winter Soldier; everyone decided they want to meet the Omega and either judge his worth for staying in their town or want to welcome him among them as Steve's mate; both ideas made Steve wary and protective.
All in all, Steve was not that comfortable letting Winter walk through a town that had some people siding with some of the elders who wanted him either dead or out of here in any way they can; in the end, Steven reasoned with himself that holing Winter in his cabin until the end of times may do more harm than good, which was why he agreed with Pepper and Daniel to take Winter to the Maximoff siblings' candy shop/café/diabetes-induced-trap… Even thinking about the café the Maximoff own made Steve's teeth ache at the thought of the sweets they would encounter and how eating them would send anyone into a coma even a werewolf (So sweet, that Steve wondered how Pietro and Wanda are still alive with them gulping the candy the made day in and day out) but knowing Bucky (And by extend Winter) Steve can be reassured that his mate's sweet-tooth would probably overcome the sugar coma and by the end of the day Steve was sure Winter was going to eat the Maximoff siblings out of the café if given the chance.
Being hopeful about his visit to the Maximoffs would end well, even if the siblings were on the crazy side sometimes Steve feared for his life. Steve walked toward their café after his trip to the garden center where Winter had spent his morning touching plants and inspecting everything with wide eyes and amazement; causing the attendants of the center to coo and jump at any chance to help Winter who was looking between Steve and the plants with disbelieving eyes… needless to say, it was fun, and Steve couldn't help feeling warm every time he caught his mate smiling happily.
So Steve spent his day holding Winter's hand in his as they stopped every now and then to give Winter the chance to study his surroundings; studying the sparkling look in his mate's eyes, as he secretly planned on buying everything that his mate's eyes fell on. He had to admit, seeing his mate's eyes sparkle as he took the sights in front of him, made Steve warm and fuzzy on the inside; reminding him of simple times were everything had been amazing and Steve was still alive with his Bucky. Reaching the café, Steve couldn't help the happy smile from taking over his face when he saw Winter's eyes wide in amazement and how his jaw fell a little as he trace the exterior of the café (Even if sometimes Steven thought it was extra in every way that was the Maximoffs). Steve couldn't help but notice how Winter's nose gave a small twitch like he had scented the air, a cute reaction that made Steve smile even more as he gently guide his mate to the café's doors; already preparing his wallet for the loss it was going to go through after he bought the whole café for his mate.
"Steve!" Was what greeted Steve as he went inside with his mate, causing him to smile and wave to Wanda who was standing behind the cashier with a wide grin as she waved to him like crazy; her smile, seemed to widen even more when she noticed him holding hands with Winter who was too invested in watching the sweets/cakes/candy on display to pay any attention to the Beta who seemed like she was about to jump over the counter and hug Steve and Winter tightly; an action that made Steve nervous at the thought of what Winter would do if that happened. "You finally came, and you brought your mate too!" Instead of doing what Steve feared, Wanda just laughed happily and waved for Steve to come closer, looking way more cheerful than any person in the afternoon should be.
Hearing the word 'Mate' Steve noticed how Winter perked up and turned his gaze toward Wanda, taking her in, before a shy smile took over his face as he held Steve's hand tightly. "Yeah… Winter… was excited to see the town after so long, so we decided to come here and see what you got." Steve said, feeling grateful that Wanda did not point it out to him when she heard Winter's name and not Bucky's, instead, she just blinked and nodded, turning to his Omega and tilting her head for a bit before she smiled; if anyone knew about a fresh start and new lives and names, it would be the Maximoff siblings, so Steve was reassured that the two of them won't trigger Winter by calling him Barnes or any of his previous names.
"I see..." Wanda hummed, as she tilted her head once more and her smile vanished as she looked at Winter as if she was looking through him, causing Steve to tense a bit and narrow his eyes at the Beta; Steve knew that Wanda couldn't help her powers sometimes, but it was still annoying and creepy in a way to see Wanda looking at someone and seeing through them, especially when the person in question doesn't need anyone to watch their past as if it was a movie. "I am so happy for you Steve… I really am… don't be shy and order what you like it's on the house." Wanda tried to collect herself, finally managing to shake herself and turn to Steve, causing the Alpha to relax and nod his head. "Oh! Before you take your seat, here, try this, it's from the new type of candy we are working on. Sour on the outside but sweet on the inside!" Wanda winked as she waved her hand summoning two candies in the shape of balls, causing Steve to narrow his eyes, wondering if he needed to go to the dentist after consuming this new concoction that Wanda brewed in her backroom.
Winter, though, was gazing at the woman with wide eyes, as his eyes darted from the candy in Wanda's hand to the woman herself, but Steve couldn't help but notice the hardness behind the Omega's eyes as he seemed to study Wanda. "So do I need another visit to the dentist after this?" Steve joked, taking the candy from Wanda's hand and giving one to Winter, causing the Omega to blink and gaze at the candy in his hand with a confused look.
"Oh, no; not this time… this candy is special in a way… it can be as sweet as you desire, you just needed to go through the sour and bitter coating first," Wanda said, causing Steve to blink his eyes as that… as sweet as he desires? Well, that's new… but amusing in a way, especially if it meant that Steve won't have to force himself to swallow down what would taste like three bags of sugar in one bite.
"Bi…Bitter…" A chock to Steve's left caused him to turn to Winter's whose face was scrunched up, looking like he swallowed a lemon, tears gathering in his eyes as he looked like he was about to spit whatever was in his mouth, it took only a second for Steve to realize that Winter probably decided to eat the candy as a whole because he couldn't help himself (Bucky never could help himself when it came to sweets, a problem that Steve tried to fix but failed at) Wanda blinked her eyes before laughing at how Winter was glaring at her with teary eyes, causing Steve to bite the inside of his cheek to stop a chuckle from leaving him.
"Just suck for a few more seconds, dear, and the taste will change, I promise." Wanda gently encouraged Winter, even when he looked a second from spitting the candy; with a harsh glare (Looking more like a kitten forced to taste a lemon) Winter seem to decide not to spit the candy and continue eating it, even when Steve was about to offer him a napkin to spit the candy in it.
True to Wanda's words, not even a few seconds passed and Winter's glare seemed to lessen and his eyes widen in surprise. "Sweet…" Mumbled Winter as he seemed to be preoccupied with the candy in his mouth, his eyes were widening even more, and his eyebrows rose, causing Steve to smile at the spark of wonder he can see in his mate's eyes.
"Told you…" Wanda winked, before shooing Steve and Winter to their table, promising that Pietro would be with them soon, Steve smiled at that and decided to try the candy, grimacing harshly at the bitter and sour taste greeting his tongue, though Steve couldn't help but blink when the bitter taste disappeared in a second and he wasn't able to detect any sourness or bitterness, just mild spicy flavor followed by sweetness… hmmm, maybe Steve would buy a patch of Wanda's new candies.
It wasn't long before Pietro came to their table and even then it wasn't that long time before Steve told the young man to bring him the sweetest thing they sell… if Steve nearly bought the whole shop to see the happy smile and wondering look in Winter's eyes… no one but Wanda and Pietro needed to know (If their happy giggles and winks were anything to get by, and Wanda pushing Pietro toward them with another plate of cakes) even when he can feel eyes on him from the people sitting in the café or coming in just to see what the fuss was all about.
By the time the two of them were done, Steve couldn't help but feel light and happy at the sight of his Omega who seemed to have been enjoying his afternoon. Steve decided to leave Winter at their table for a few seconds to go and talk with Wanda for a bit… maybe even ask for her help with Winter; Steve knew Wanda, and he knew that she could help him with his mate if she felt incline to… but only if the outcome that would follow was favored by all…
"You should complete your mating…" That was what Wanda greeted Steve with, causing him to still be in his place as he gazed at the witch in surprised and confused look, not knowing what to do or act when Wanda delicately told him to go and have sex with his mate.
"I… I can't…" Steve decided to settle on this instead of fumbling his way through every excuse he can think of, and maybe coming off as an asshole in doing so; Wanda, only hummed at his words, glancing at Steve before returning back to her job which consisted of filling cute packages with candies of all kind.
"I know… but you have to…" The order and the grave tone Wanda used, caused Steve to still and gaze at the young woman who stopped what she was doing to gaze at Steve, silently telling him how grave the situation really was, causing the hair on Steve's body to stand on its ends. "I know you… and I know that you don't want to take an advantage of your mate, believe me… but the Omega sitting there… this is nothing but a wild beast waiting to be unleashed…" Wanda whispered as if disclosing a secret that no one but Steve and she needed to know about. "What do you know about Wendigos?" Wanda suddenly asked, changing the subject all of sudden, but not before her words caused Steve's blood to turn into ice in his vein, the implication of her words had not been lost on him.
"He… he is… he is not one of them…" Steve's voice cracked as he said those words, his heart pounding in his chest loudly as his hands shook; the implication of his mate and the love of his life being one of… them… was enough to cause him to have a panic attack in the middle of Wanda's shop if it wasn't for the woman putting her hand on his and squeezing it tightly, allowing her power to coat Steve like a warm calming blanket to prevent the Alpha from losing in the presence of everyone in the town.
"He is not," Wanda reassured her words allowing Steve's burning lungs to finally expand and draw much-needed air into them. "But… he was trained by one… that's… probably why he pestered you about the… The Protocol…" That caused Steve to twitch and gaze at Wanda's eyes that seemed to glow red, hoping to see any lie in them… only to shudder and bite his trembling lip hard when he saw the sincere and worried look in her eyes; Steve couldn't help but hate himself because he knew that Wanda had the ability to see things, and if she believed what she said, then what she said was the ultimate truth. "You know how Wendigo can be if it came to their mates… and their claim…" That made Steve shudder and he had to close his eyes tightly, trying to stop the flash of memories from a time long past from consuming him. "All the more important for you to finalize your claim on him before he-" Wanda wasn't able to finish her words as everyone flinch as they heard the sound of glass breaking and a table being thrown at the wall, causing Steve to whirl fast to see the cause of the commotion behind him… freezing in his place when he saw John Walker standing over Winter who was gazing at the table and then the broken plates on the floor in confusion.
"I am talking to you bitch! Just because you are Rogers's mate, didn't give a whore like you the right to act all high and mighty!" Walker spate his words gaining a snarl from Steve as he snapped at Walker to back away from his mate, a request followed by a scuff as the Alpha buffed himself and glared at Steve, his action causing people to nervously back away, already planning on running out of the shop at the sight of an Alpha brawl looming over them… everyone knew not to get near Alphas brawls, not when there was the possibility of other lives being at stake. "Or what?" Walker growled, twitching as he put his hand harshly on Winter's shoulder causing Steve's hackles to rise.
Before Steve walked over to the other Alpha and throw him away from his mate, Winter blinked, his eyes tracing the hand on his shoulder to the Alpha touching him before saying. "Initiating The Blue Protocol?" Causing Steve to still and for his heart to drop, not knowing how to react when his mate asked another Alpha that question; Steve can hear Wanda's harsh inhale and he can see Walker raising his eyebrow before repeating the words 'Blue Protocol' which seemed to be acceptable enough by Winter who gave a happy smile.
It happened so fast that Steve was confused and loss for words because he swore that one second Walker had muttered those retched words while he standing up and next, he was on the ground, shrieking and writhing in pain as he clutched his broken arm, bones expose to all to see; Steve can only gaze in wide disbelieving eyes as at the sight, his body frozen in his place, only to snap out of his trance by Winter who was clutching a knife in his hand as he loomed Walker ready to finish him.
That was what Steve needed to move his body and jump fast toward his mate to stop the madness that took place before his eyes; reaching his mate and holding his hand tightly in his preventing Winter from striking and finishing the Alpha who was whining in pain on the floor. "Enough!" Steve snapped, his heart dropped when Winter's eyes held no recognition as he glanced at him; the Omega raised his eyebrow in confusion as he tried to move his hand that didn't seem to budge from how tight Steve was holding into it. "Enough…" Ordered Steve this time, causing Winter to blink as he glanced at Walker before turning to Steve and tilting his head, looking like he was thinking if he should listen to Steve or not; a fact that made Steve nervous in a way, wondering about the backlash from the other elders that would follow if Winter decided not to listen to him.
"Steve… I think you should take your mate home… better yet… I will transport you home" Those were Wanda's words, causing Steve to turn to her and see that she was watching Winter closely frowning in worry and nervousness before turning to Steve. "…and what we talked about… it should be done today… the… the protocol... had already been activated…" That caused Steve to inhale harshly before he turned to Winter who had a blank look on his face as he seemed to study Steve, causing the Alpha to bite the inside of his cheek harshly.
"I see…" Steve ended up whispering, Winter's hand twitching in his as if he was testing Steve's strength; with that Wanda moved just as Winter seemed to take this as his sign and moved to attack Steve, only to stumbled as he tripped by the snow surrounding them; Steve hummed as he let go of Winter, gazing at the Omega who was taking his surrounding when he finally seemed to notice they were standing in the woods behind Steve's cabin. "Initiate The Blue Protocol…" Steve suddenly said trying to say these words without throwing up… his words though, caused Winter to still in his place, his eyes widening and his pupils blown wide as he gazed at Steve for a split second before a wide grin took over his face, showing his teeth in a threatening manner as Winter straightens in his stand, seemingly ready to pounce any second now…
Steve hoped he wouldn't regret what was going to happen…
Winter hummed as he took another bite from the cake in front of him, holding in his happy purr at the taste of the yummy and fluffy 'Chocolate Cake' that his Alpha put in front of him… Winter was still angry at his Alpha and his... therapist… (Is that the right word? Winter doesn't know, but his Alpha said it many times when they head to the Omega doctor in the office) for refusing the initiation of The Blue Protocol… but this yummy treat was enough for Winter to forget about the whole matter today and start thinking of another way to make his Alpha initiate The Blue Protocol…
Winter couldn't help but gaze at his Alpha who went to talk with the Beta lady behind the table, his eyes zeroing on the yummy treats that she portioned in the pink package (Candies, Winter remembered his Alpha saying) and he wondered if he could convince his Alpha to buy him some, after all, didn't Alpha say that he would buy Winter whatever he liked?
"So you are Rogers's whore that everyone had been talking about…" Winter heard these words coming from someone to his right (Alpha, 5'11, blond hair, pale blue eyes, slime build… Threat Level 0) but Winter didn't react to the insult (Alpha had sat Winter down one day and told him that the definitions Winter goes by are insults and no one ever should be called with; Winter never really cared about what he was called even if it was insulting if it meant he had a clear definition to go by) or pay the man any attention even when he seemed to take the chance of Winter's Alpha being away to talk to him; instead, Winter continued to eat his treat and study his Alpha's back, thinking of the many ways he can convince him to mate Winter and mark him. "I had to say… you look pretty… I can almost see what Rogers saw in you…" The man said, taking the seat in front of Winter, grinning as his eyes ran over Winter's body, causing the Omega's skin to crawl (The look on the man's face was similar to the ones Winter always received from Handler Pierce, Handler Rumlow, and some agents; a look that made Winter's fingers twitch and his Omega hissed as he prepared himself to initiate The Blue Protocol) but Winter still didn't give the man any attention, his eyes were on his Alpha as he talked to the Beta woman. "I wonder if you are a good fuck… probably why Rogers raised hell in the town to protect you… tell you what, why don't we ditch this place so I can show you how a real Alpha acts?" That got Winter's attention as he turned to the man, twitching in annoyance when he saw the man grin and relax in his seat now that Winter turned toward him.
Blinking his eyes, Winter tilted his head to the side as he studied the man, his Omega hissed in annoyance at the idea of such a sub-par Alpha daring to come to him and proposed to initiate The Blue Protocol when the man couldn't even protect himself… but on the other hand… "I do not associate myself with sub-par Alphas that are too weak and wait until someone's mate is away to act," Winter stated, his eyes returning back to his Alpha, feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation at the possibilities that were running through his mind; Winter knew how Alphas act when they are questioned and ridiculed, and it almost always results in a fight (His Alpha was the exception, which baffled Winter all the time) and brawl until death to prove people that they were betters than others.
Winter didn't need to blink, before the man took the bait, snarling as he all but jumped at Winter, throwing the table at the wall and causing the plates and glasses to fall down and break, scattering what was left of the treats Winter was eating; a fact that caused the Omega to twitch in anger at the waste of nutrition and yummy treats that his Alpha bought for him. Everyone flinch at the action, but not Winter who was annoyed (A new kind of emotion he seemed to have a lot) and angry (Not that new of emotion) still, Winter did his best to look confused and lost as he gazed at the table and broken plates, especially when he felt his Alpha's eyes on him. "I am talking to you bitch! Just because you are Rogers's mate, didn't give a whore like you the right to act all high and mighty!" The man all but spate his words gaining a snarl from his Alpha (A fact that made Winter flush, especially when he saw his Alpha advance toward the lesser man) who snapped at the man to back away from Winter, a request followed by a scuff as the sub-par Alpha tried to buff himself to appear bigger and glare at his mate; the scene of a coming brawl causing people to nervously back away, already planning on running out of the shop. "Or what?" The man growled, twitching as he put his hand harshly on Winter's shoulder causing his Alpha's hackles to rise.
Winter couldn't help but bite the purr that wanted to leave his throat, his plan was working, and his Alpha was aggravated because of another man touching his mate… now there was only one step left so that his Alpha would accept mating him… if his Alpha refused to initiate the protocol to mate him, then Winter would force another to do so, and make his Alpha choose. Winter hummed, his eyes tracing the hand on his shoulder to the weak Alpha who was touching him as if trying to prevent the Omega from moving. "Activating The Blue Protocol?" Winter asked, causing his Alpha and the Beta woman to still in their places, horror itching on their faces as Winter dared to say the words out loud; Winter saw the raising of eyebrow the man did before he repeated the words 'Blue Protocol' which for Winter was enough to make him move and bring a smile on his face, and for his Omega to roar in bloodlust.
It happened fast, in an expert move, Winter took the hand on his shoulder and twisted it hard, his Omega purred at the snap of bones under his fingers, but the Omega didn't stop at just that, he kicked the place of the break and pulled harsh, trying to rip the man's arm off and throw it away, growling to himself when he seemed to lack the strength and balance because of his missing arm. Because of that, Winter left the sub-par Alpha on the ground, shrieking and writhing in pain as he clutched his broken arm, bones expose to all to see; but even then, Winter didn't care as he pulled one of the knives he hides under his clothes (He would never be caught unaware, even when his Alpha always promised to keep him save) and advanced on the weak Alpha to finish him once and for all.
Just when Winter was about to get rid of the useless man, his mate reached him and held his wrist tightly preventing Winter from striking and finishing the man who was whining in pain on the floor. "Enough!" Alpha snapped an action that caused Winter to narrow his eyes and glance at his Alpha, wondering why the man stopped him from going to the kill and protect his claim… was his Alpha jealous of the fact of anyone else initiating The Blue Protocol or was it something else? Nevertheless, Winter was going to kill the Alpha who dared to initiate the protocol, even if it wasn't fully initiated… Winter though couldn't help but raise his eyebrow in confusion as his hand refused to budge from mate's grip no matter how much he tried to move it and force it to slip from between his Alpha's fingers which was of no use… a fact that gained his Omega's interest as Winter gazed at the man below him, trying to think how to make his Alpha let go of his arm or if it was worth it to leave the crying man on the floor and attack his Alpha instead.
"Steve… I think you should take your mate home… better yet… I will transport you home" Those were the Beta woman's words, causing Winter to twitch and glance at her from the corner of his eye, only to see that she was watching him closely while frowning in worry and nervousness before turning to his Alpha. "…and what we talked about… it should be done today… the… the protocol had already been activated…" That caused his Alpha to inhale harshly before he turned to Winter who turned his eyes from the Beta woman toward his Alpha, wondering what the Alpha was going to do now that the Beta woman had already confirmed the protocol activation.
"I see…" That's what his Alpha ended up saying and Winter's hand didn't help but twitched to test the Alpha's grip which loosened a bite; something that Winter took as his sign and moved to attack the Alpha. What Winter didn't count on was him stumbling and tripping by snow, which caused him to frown and gaze at his surrounding… his surrounding resembled the woods behind his Alpha's cabin. "Initiate The Blue Protocol…" Alpha suddenly said, causing Winter to still in his place as his breath left him and his body became hot with both disbelieve (At his plan working so well) and arousal (At the thought of finally having his Alpha and his mark) his eyes widen and his pupils blown as he gazed at his Alpha for a split second before a wide grin took over his face, showing his teeth in a threatening manner as Winter straightens in his stand, ready to pounce any second now and fight his Alpha who was going to show Winter his wroth…
Winter couldn't wait for his Alpha's claim…
"Kill him!"
That was what Sam heard as soon as he answered his phone; the words he heard caused the Beta to frown harshly, pulling his phone away and gazing at the unknown number with great confusion. "Hello?" Sam answered cautiously, not knowing who is on the other line of the phone and not even wanting to know if their first greeting was an order to kill.
"Sam! It's Dot... Look I don't have much time at the moment, but you need to kill him... Bucky Barnes..."
Those were the words Sam managed to pick up before the sound of gunshots made themselves known on the other side of the line, causing the hair on Sam's body to stand on its end, as he heard Dottie curse in Russian like her life depended on it before a few more gunshots followed. "Dottie? What the hell is going on? What the hell do you mean by killing him?" Sam called out, his voice getting louder hoping that the Alpha would hear his words on the other side of the line with all the mess and banging that was heard.
"...The Blue Protocol... Kill him before he activates it... He will kill Steve! He is a Wendigo!"
With that, the line was cut, but not before the phone fell from Sam's numb fingers as he started to shake and the air left his body... terror-sized Sam as he jumped from his place, stumbling to righten himself and start his run to Steve's cabin... the horror that took over at that one word, was enough to make Sam shift in the middle of the streets (Causing cares to honk and people to scream at him in anger) and run to find his best friend and pack Alpha, and save him from the copycat that pretended to be his mate, or was Winter his mate but was turned into a true monster by Hydra? Either way, Sam doesn't care, the only thing he cared about was reaching Steve and saving him before he gets his heart ripped out by the one he called mate...
Sam hoped it wasn't too late...
