A/N- Hey, so sorry that it's taken so long for an update. Life is crazy. I really hope y'all are enjoying the story so far and I would love to hear your thoughts. What do you think about Beca and Chloe's relationship so far? And what is y'alls guess on what Beca is?

Chapter 13

Beca's POV

"The First," Gail says quietly. We all stand in her office around her desk which she sits at. "I haven't heard of that group in a long time."

"How long?" I ask. Despite how serious this is, it's hard to focus with Chloe standing next to me. Her scent is almost overwhelming and my hand twitches in anticipation of holding her hand. Trying to remain as professional as possible, I resist the urge and do what I can to focus on Gail.

"I heard rumors of the group when I was first turned, which we won't get into how long ago that was. It was not only a group of werewolves but the first werewolves, the most powerful. They're not necessarily a rebellion group as much as a group of guardians. They mainly watch and make sure their secret remains a secret. I had thought that after the world learned of our existence, they had dissipated, but I was wrong."

"What does this mean?" Chloe asks, her voice slightly trembling.

"I don't know. What I do know is, it's probably not just the werewolves coming back but our originals too." Gail pauses for a second to get out a book. She opens it to a page and then turns it toward us. In the middle is a symbol of a skull with sharp teeth and dark eyes. At the top of the page, it reads The Old Ones.

"This is the group of original vampires, also the strongest. There's original groups for almost every supernatural creature there is. Werewolves and vampires are just the biggest and strongest creatures out of all of them."

"Why would they just be coming back? Not to mention, if The Old Ones or The First are the cause of John's death, what would be the reason?"

"Well," Gail sighs and leans back in her chair which creaks loudly, making my head thump even more. "You girls never knew this, but John had a habit of putting himself in places he shouldn't. He liked to mingle with other supernatural creatures, werewolves included. He had some sort of agenda that I was never made aware of. Almost like he was trying to join us together. Now, if The Old Ones found out about it, they would go out of their way to not only stop him but try and blame it on someone else, like the werewolves."

"But that could possibly start a war," Aubrey comments and Gail nods.

"Maybe that's what this is," I think and start pacing, trying to focus as much as I can around the pounding of my head. "The Old Ones are probably done with humans controlling all the creatures. If they can get human troops to fight with The First, then once that war is over, the werewolf numbers will be severely depleted, leaving them with the upper hand."

"Exactly," Chloe joins in, finally getting it too. "If The First senses their plan, it would explain the sudden surface. We definitely have to go to that party, see what they're up to."

"What party?" Gail asks but nobody answers. "If you guys are planning something stupid-"

"It may be stupid," I interrupt, desperate to not let anything stop us from finding out the truth. "But it's extremely important. If we don't do this, we may not be able to stop what's coming."

"I understand," Gail stands and looks me in the eye, making me shudder. "What I'm worried about is that it may be too late."

"Is this a good idea?" Chloe asks, standing in front of the mirror, putting on makeup. After researching for the last couple of days, it's finally time for the party.

"Probably not," I admit, rubbing my temple hoping to ease some of the ache. "But it's the only thing we have to go on. I don't know about you, but I don't wish to go through a full out war. I'm not sure who would win."

"You're right about that," Chloe sighs and comes over to sit next to me on the bed. "Is your head still giving you issues?"

"Yeah but it's probably nothing. I'll just drink some more water or something."

"Okay, but if it continues much longer, I'm going to force you to see a doctor."

"You're going to force me?" I raise an eyebrow at her and she laughs.

"I could you know."

"I don't know about that."

"I guess I'll have to show you," Chloe laughs and lunges at me, pinning my body to the bed. Grinning, I arch my back up, loving her gasp at certain parts connecting and shove her until I'm on top. Laughing, I kiss her and she raises her hands to cup my face.

"Seriously though, I'm worried about you."

"I love the concern, Chlo, but I'll be fine. Trust me."

"Okay," Chloe gives in and for a second, I just study her electric blue eyes. No cold feeling spreads through me, making me smile despite my confusion about it. How could anyone think that vampires couldn't be human without souls? In fact, they're more human than most of the actual humans I've met. The words I desperately want to say rest on the tip of my tongue. Is it too soon though? I know my feelings for her are true, but it doesn't make it any less scary.

"Come on you lovebirds," Stacie yells from outside the door, interrupting us. "We're going to be late."

"Fine," I groan and roll off of Chloe. I get up but Chloe takes an extra second, watching me with a look in her eyes that makes my knees week. Sadly, I have a job to do, one that might be a big mistake. Hopefully, no one decides to wolf out tonight or get pissed that a bunch of vampires are crashing their party.

"You coming?" I ask Chloe and she holds up a finger, collecting herself. I open the door to leave while she takes a second, but before I do, I turn back to her, smiling seductively. "Just so you know, I'm always on top."

A little while later, we reach the place listed on the flyer, a few minutes late. It took us to a gravel road that just leads to a dead end. After that, nothing but trees for miles. Getting out, I survey the area, shocked at how well I can see in the dark. All the girls are getting out of the carall of cars we took and using their phone lights to see. Jesse gets out of his car, remaining silent, obviously not sure how to act around all the vampires.

"Where is everyone?" Amy asks and starts to dance. "I want to party."

"We're not here to party Amy," Aubrey says, strictly business.

"It's werewolves right?" Chloe says loudly so all of us can hear. "Wouldn't it make sense for them to be gathered in the woods?" With that, I move forward, looking for anything to lead us to them. In the distance, I can faintly hear voices. It's definitely far, so our only option will be to hike. Without saying a word, I start to move, ignoring the questions I get. My head thumps but doesn't distract me from following the voices. After a while, the girls start commenting on hearing them too.

Eventually, the voices get louder and I can make out laughter and multiple conversations. We finally get to a big clearing lit up by a huge bonfire in the middle. People stand around talking, some dancing and singing. My heart leaps at the sight and I can't help but smile. It seems so innocent and homey. Almost inviting.

"Wow," Jesse comments, coming up next to me. "This is actually pretty cool. Do you think they'll welcome us?"

"Probably not, but one way to find out." With that, I nudge Chloe and move forward towards the group of people. I can tell the moment they notice we're here, because everyone goes silent.

"What the hell are rats like you doing here?" Someone growls and I get the urge to growl back. Shaking my head, I push that urge back and step forward.

"We saw your flyer and figured we'd check it out. We mean no harm."

"Sure. Why should we believe that?" Another person comments.

"We don't have weapons and we haven't attacked yet, so why would we now?" Chloe asks and someone scoffs.

"Get Darren," someone demands and footsteps run off. "Your kind has no place here."

"Bloodsuckers," another yells and next thing I know, more nasty names are being thrown at us. My head pounds with all the noise and eventually, I can't take it.

"Stop," I roar, louder than I thought I could. "Maybe we didn't come to the party, but we definitely didn't come to hurt you. We just want some answers, not insults. Could y'all please just let us explain."

"If you're explaining anything to anyone, it's to me," a deep voice booms and out of the shadows a huge man steps forward. Everyone tucks their heads into their chest in his presence and I instantly know who he is.

"My name's Beca. You must be the alpha."

"That I am," he says, close enough now I can see what he looks like. His dark hair is short, unlike his figure which seems to tower over me. The features on his face are sharp and combined with his dark, grey eyes, he looks terrifying. He wears nothing but a pair of shorts which make me think he was probably going to shift.

"I'm Darren, alpha of The First. What brings you to our gathering?"

"The flyer actually," I hold it up. "We noticed the little symbol and I was curious as to your presence here. Why the sudden surface after all these years?"

"We've always been here, just traveling the world. It's been years since I've been in this town which is probably why you haven't heard anything about us." I nod but it still doesn't answer all of my questions.

"Why are you having this gathering tonight?"

"To celebrate our kind," Darren shrugs. "We do this almost every month, but like I said, it's been awhile since we've been to this town. You wouldn't know this, but we always hang up flyers to spread the word of our celebration."

"Do you know about The Old Ones?" Chloe asks and when Darren stills, I know we hit a nerve. "They're here too, you know? Not just you. That can't be a coincidence."

"Come with me," Darren gestures and we follow him to a tent off to the side. "Leave your friends outside. I just want to talk to the leader of this group." Chloe glances at me and I nudge her in front of me. We're in this together.

"Y'all stay out here and play nice." With that, Chloe and I go into the tent behind Darren. When he sees both of us standing there, he arches a brow.

"We're partners," I comment and he shrugs, leaving it at that. He sits down in a chair behind a desk, pointing at two on the other side for us. He rests his elbows on the desk and leans forward.

"Now, tell me what you know about The Old Ones."
