Author's Note: I apologize for the long wait 2023 has been hectic anyway I do hope you enjoy it.

I've known these boys since they were six years four months, I've seen them spilt up and moved around the foster system with placements and back to the group home many a time. I never thought I'd see the day when they were reunited with their birth parents. I can only imagine the daze they are in with the private plane and now in a helicopter on the way to their final destination. What their reaction will be to Fairfield Stables never mind the Fairfield mansion will be a dream for them I'm sure and to think this is the tip of the iceberg of the massive life changes for these boys. If I am awed by Fairfield I can only imagine what these boys are feeling.

The pilot notifies us we are landing at Fairfield in a couple of minutes. Patrick points out where the land starts and all the natural features lakes and creeks and also Fairfield's many pens and stables as we pass over them making our way towards the house where the helipad is situated. The awe in the boys' eyes only amplifies as Patrick points out the house or in this case the mansion as we touch down for landing.

I know Patrick had his associates make sure to keep Ms. Stillman and Mr. Bartlett inside as not to overwhelm the boys and to give all of them a modicum of privacy at this momentous life-changing occasion.

I can feel the beat of my heart through my chest and the blood rushing through my ears as I take in my sons in the flesh for the first time. The awe in my sons' eyes at the sheer size and opulence of the house is there for all to see. Their eyes dart from one place to another before finally setting on Lisa and me as they make their way into the great room where Lisa and I are standing with our backs to the fireplace. Their collective gasp echo's in the room as they peer from behind Constable Keller and Patrick as they take both Lisa and me in. Their uncertainty though understandable does sting.

I imagine Lisa feels everything I'm feeling as well. I slip my hand into Lisa's before approaching our boys. I see them conceal themselves further behind Keller and Patrick as we approach, but I know Lisa and I need to show them that we are willing to take the first steps to get to know each other.

"Hi there I'm Jack and I'm your dad and this is Lisa your mum. I know you guys are a little scared and that's okay."

Their collective exhales with the tension in their shoulders easing as they finally stop using Patrick and Keller as shields to protect themselves as they make their way in front of them to finally present themselves to Lisa and me.

I need them to know that we all probably have similar emotions right now and they need to see Lisa and me not just as authority figures that are their parents but as ordinary people with feelings. "All five of us probably feel the same way. You're a little scared of us and we're scared that you boys don't want us to be your mum and dad."

"We want you to be our mum and dad." "No, we do want you to be our mother and father." "Nous voulons que vous soyez nos parents [We want you to be our parents]."

All the boys pipe up with a response and my heart is filled with so much joy that they want us to be their parents. Although I'm not too sure about the French that Grayson spoke although it sure looks as if he feels the way the other two boys do.

"C'est bien parce que ton père et moi ne voulons rien de plus que nous soyons tous une famille [That's good because your dad and I want nothing more than for us all to be a family]."

I see all the boys surprised that Lisa can speak French but the most affected is Grayson who walks up to Lisa with so much adoration in his eyes for her. In his heavy french accent he utters something to Lisa "Tu es encore plus belle que ta photo [You're even more prettier than your picture]."

Lisa wraps the boy in a loving hug while saying something to him in French "Merci mon gentil garçon et tu es encore plus beau que tes photos; vous êtes tous [Thank you my sweet boy and you're even more handsome than your pictures; all of you are]." Grayson blushes and bury his face in Lisa's midriff.

"Your father has no idea what we're talking about so we'll have to translate for him."

Everyone breaks into laughter and you can feel the ice break as both Zachery and Lincoln tell me what Lisa and Grayson said to each other and with that I see both Keller and Patrick leave to give us a private family moment.

"Okay, I know I'm not pretty like your mother but maybe I can get a hug too."

Lincoln and Grayson attack me to get a hug while Zachery is much more reserved joining the hug but is much more timid.

I have my arms filled with my sons' and my heart explodes with a love that threatens to burst out of my chest. I hold onto them as tightly as possible with a heartfelt drawn-out group hug when I catch those husky blues I fell in love with all those years ago filled with a warmth I've never seen in them before filling me with a sense of deep satisfaction.

"I feel a bit left out boys I only got one hug."

With that, all three of the boys descend on Lisa even Zach who revels in the affection Lisa showers upon them. I watch those husky blues settle on our sons' and more alive and alight with possibilities than I had ever seen them. The boys and Lisa are all laughing out loud in delight with the affection Lisa is showering on them; watching them, my breath catches as the adoration in her eyes for them will be burned into my soul until the end of time. Lisa's eyes land on mine and her smile broadens as those husky blues gaze warmly into mine. A soul-penetrating satisfaction, together with a tenderness unknown to me washes over me.

Grayson untangles himself from his sibling and mother before making his way towards me and I think his sizing me up as he looks at me from head to toe his eyes resting on my head. "Sur la photo, M. Harris nous a montré que vous aviez un chapeau de cowboy comme un vrai cowboy. Mais tu ressembles toujours à quelqu'un sans le chapeau."

"Lise," My eye seek Lisa's because I have no idea what my son just said.

"He said in the picture Patrick showed them you had a cowboy hat like a real cowboy but you look like a cowboy anyway without one."

The boys are bundled into Lisa and look skittish as I quickly return after having retrieved my hat from the mudroom with my hat now set atop my head.

"I told you your dad is not angry he just went to get his hat to show you, boys."

All three boys race to me almost knocking me over as they peer up to take in the cowboy hat on my head that for some reason fascinates them. I take it off before placing it on Grayson's head.

"Zachery and Lincoln you both can try it after Grayson," I tell them not wanting them to think I have a favorite.

Although oversized Grayson walks back and forth imitating my gait and stance with the hat on his head.

Lisa's gaze catches mine as we both have the biggest grins on our faces at the oversized hat on Grayson who looks adorable.

The other two boys want their turn and make a play for the hat before Lisa steps in to make sure the scuffle doesn't end in a fight. Both Zachery and Lincoln take turns and do the exact same act of imitating me as their brother did. I'm pretty sure my jaw will hurt later with how hard I'm smiling watching our sons.

I feel Lisa's hand slip into mine before she gives it an affectionate squeeze. "They definitely got strong Bartlett genes hey, looks like they do have some cowboy in them."

I can't help but smirk before turning my head to drop a kiss onto her head.
