Chapter 2

Is it Yes, or is it Oh Yes?

I am so sorry. I never meant to take this long to post. I will try to do more regular posts in the near future. To make up for the long wait here is a longer chapter as well as the introduction to some beloved (and some not so beloved) characters. Also this might turn into a slight crossover as there is a possibility that you might meet two characters from another Disney movie so keep a lookout as if I go that direction I will give a hint about them within the next chapter or two.

Now to answer the reviews:

Guest; So glad you're enjoying this, I hope I don't disappoint. As for who "him" is it will be awhile before it is fully revealed but I will be dropping hints here and there so keep an eye out.

"Good morning Belle." called out an unfortunately familiar voice.

"Good morning Gaston." she returned.

"Lovely book you have there." he started.

"Have you read it?" she asked with surprise in her voice. Did he really read a book?

"Well no but books are books." Never mind. "Anyway, I am here to tell you that I have planned a dinner for the two of us."

"I am afraid that I have to decline." Afraid? Have to? Yeah right.

"Oh no I'm afraid you don't understand, you see, we have much to talk about."

"I believe the lady said no." came a not as familiar but very welcomed voice. Both Belle and Gaston turned their heads to the speaker.

"And who are you? I have never seen you around these parts." Gaston returned irritated. The crowd stopped to watch what was going on. Lisa stood silently to the side while Gaston's friend, Lefou, started walking towards the trio.

"I am Adam."

"Well, Adam, this is none of your concern. Why don't you continue on with your day while we go about ours."

"Certainly, once you leave Mademoiselle Belle alone."

"Why you…" he pulled his arm back but someone else grabbed it.

"Deep breaths Gaston. You don't want to attract a bigger crowd." Lefou's voice dropped to a whisper.

"Very well." he reluctantly straightened up and the two walked away.

"Thank you." said Belle, relieved.

"You're welcome. Adam returned. Glancing down he asked " What book do you have there?"

"Romeo and Juliet." she cautiously replied.

"Of all of Shakespeare's plays you chose that one." he groaned

"I'm sorry?" she asked. This was not quite the response I was expecting.

"My brother prefers Hamlet." Lisa laughed. "While I'm not as big of a bookworm as he is, I myself like A Midsummer Night's Dream."(1)

"And what is wrong with Romeo and Juliet?" Belle indignantly asked.

"Well all that heartache and pinning, yuck." he retches. "There's so many better books to read."

"Like What." she challenged and the two debated books as they walked to the shop with Lisa chuckling behind them.

The bell rang as it announced the arrival of two men.

"See Mon Ami, I told you they were back." said one of them

"I beg your pardon old friend, but I believe I told you." responded his companion.

"No you didn't, I told you."

"You most certainly did not…"

"Lumiere? Cogsworth!" Adam laughed as he embraced the two. Lisa's approach was no less enthusiastic.

"It's been too long." she playfully complained.

"It's good to see you both are doing so well." Lumiere returned.

"Yes it most certainly is." Cogsworth agreed. "but I don't think this is the best time for your return considering…"

"Considering what?" Lumiere and Cogsworth jumped as they were reminded that the four were not alone.

"Oh, Mademoiselle. Pardon me, where are our manners? It is good to see you as well. How has the business been doing?" Lumiere asked.

"It's been good." Belle answered. " Papa is getting ready for his trip to the market."

"Splendid." Cogsworth said. "While we're here, I'm afraid my pocket watch broke. If you or your father would be so kind as to fix it up for me?"

"Why of course monsieur." She took the watch and headed towards the workshop. Once Cogsworth was sure she was out of earshot, he turned back to Adam.

"But seriously, you put yourselves at an even greater risk coming now. The guards will be on full alert making sure everything runs smoothly."

"Which is why this is the perfect time. He will be too distracted to worry about us."

"I disagree, he only set it up because he can't cover it up for much longer. He will be even more determined to find you before their arrival so that he won't have to go through with it."

"Don't worry. We'll be careful. Everythings going to be alright." Adam tried to assure him.

"I hope so. I really do."

1 Honestly Lisa, same. (though I like to think I'm a bigger bookworm than her.}
