A/N: My writing motivation decided to show back up this week. Ironic since I just started training for my new job and thought I wouldn't have time to write. As always, let me know what you think and enjoy!

The Suoh Family's Second Heir
When Nanako Suoh met Iemitsu, a man that looked like an ordinary blue collar worker, she was smitten. As a woman raised in high society, there was a certain thrill indulging in commoner culture and activities. Her mother had clearly disapproved but she'd been given more freedom than Yuzuru. Shizue despaired that both of her children had fallen in love with foreigners.
There was a clear difference in how she treated her grandchildren. Tamaki, her son's child and the eldest, was a beautiful child. With platinum blond hair and blue eyes, he clearly took after his mother. He was musically gifted and charmed everyone he met. Unfortunately he was also looked down upon due to being an illegitimate child, trying to win over the cold and distant matriarch.
Tsunayoshi mostly took after his mother and his European heritage was more subtle. He was an energetic child that could barely keep still. His bodyguards nearly had a heart attack when he decided to climb the roof for a better view of the estate. He would chat with anyone, from his uncle's business partners to contractors doing work around the estate. He was treated with more respect due to his parents being married before he was born.
He was a smart child and he had an instinctive grasp on how to see past the masks people portrayed to society. He had unknowingly exposed several employees that weren't as benign as they seemed, either trying to steal important documents or looking to abduct one of the children for monetary gain.
It was around that time that Shizue started to see her grandson as a possible asset to the Suoh name and she began looking into his current schooling situation. Several of the teachers in Namimori didn't have proper teaching licenses! As the principal of Ouran Academy, even Yuzuru had been appalled. The only school that was up to their standards was Midori and that was an all-girls private school.
"Nanako, I know you want Tsunayoshi to have an average childhood. But he's an intelligent boy and his talents would be wasted in this small town." Shizue says, watching Tsuna play in the park with one of the local children. It was interesting seeing a child with as much energy with her grandson. And the white hair the other boy had was very peculiar.
Nanako was hesitant. "I don't want to make any decision about Tsuna's life without his input."
"And his father?"
"He sends letters and calls once in a while but he's abroad most of the time. And he didn't have much schooling as a child." Nana says. Her husband wasn't the brightest person but he'd managed to get a job at Vongola Industries through hard work and perseverance.
"Tsunayoshi." Shizue's voice was stern, Tsuna waved goodbye to his new friend before running over to the women. "Yes grandmother?" Brown eyes looked at the woman curiously.
"Would you like to go to Ouran like your cousin Tamaki?"

Tsunayoshi looked at the pink building and sighed. No matter how many years he'd seen it, he was still embarrassed by his uncle's horrible taste in colors and fashion. He still thought that the man might be color blind. "Hey Tsuna!" Tsunayoshi yelped, being pulled into a "manly hug" by his childhood best friend Ryohei. On one of his visits to Namimori, his uncle had spotted the boxing prodigy and gave him a sport scholarship. The friendly athlete was in the same year as the famous cousins Honey and Mori.
"It doesn't feel too different from primary school." Tsunayoshi admits. Ryohei ruffled his hair with a grin. "This year you can join the boxing club!" He exclaims, Tsuna deadpanned. "Pretty sure my grandmother would strongly protest to that." He was no stranger to martial arts but they were mainly so he could defend himself from various kidnapping attempts. What was most baffling is that none of the men knew he one of the Suoh heirs but he was targeted since he was Iemitsu's son.
In response, Shizue took custody of Tsunayoshi after discovering her daughter's husband was a criminal. No amount of begging from Tsunayoshi or demands from Shizue would convince Nana to divorce from Iemitsu and accept protection. In order to protect the Suoh family name, Nana was cut off from the family and Tsunayoshi was now on the Suoh family registry. The Sawada name was taboo in the family and any mention of it would result in Tsunayoshi flinching and Shizue firing the employee that mentioned it.
Ryohei winced. "Is she still trying to push for you to take over the family instead of Tamaki?"
"Yeah, thankfully it seems the majority of stock holders agree that Tamaki-nii should be next in line. I can only imagine the stress he and uncle Yuzuru are under."
"Tsuna-sama!" A silver haired teen ran up to the pair, glaring at Ryohei. "Stop invading Tsuna-sama's personal space turf top." Gokudera growls, Ryohei just laughed. "Feeling left out?" Tsuna tried not to laugh as he pulled an unwilling Gokudera into a hug as well.
"Why you-"
"Please don't start a fight guys, not on our first day." Tsuna pleaded, students around them watching the display with curiosity.
"My apologies Tsuna-sama! To repent I'll-"
"Gokudera it's fine. And please just call me Tsuna, we're friends aren't we?"
The short-tempered teen blushed and Ryohei just laughed. Tsuna shook his head, this school year was going to be interesting. Just not for the reasons he thought.

There were already rumors about Tamaki's younger cousin and the delinquent that followed him around. Of course, being related to the president of the host club, everyone was wondering if Tsunayoshi would be joining as well.
"Have you seen his hair? It looks so soft!"
"He gives off the aura of a small animal. So cute!"
"I bet that delinquent with him is a bodyguard. The host club totally needs a bad boy!"
Tsuna ignored the rumors, used to others talking behind his back. There were also rumors about another scholarship student besides Ryohei and everyone was anticipating having another "commoner" in school.
A student with brown hair messier than Tsuna's and a pair of unflattering glasses bumped into him, books and notebooks sent sprawling to the ground. "Hey, are you alright?" Tsuna asks, bending down to pick up the items. The fallen student sighed. "Sorry, today hasn't been a good day for me." The person admits.
"It can't be easy being new, I know how overwhelming it can be. I'm Suoh Tsunayoshi, nice to meet you."
"How do you know that I'm new?" The person asks curiously, Tsuna sighed. "A lot of students here have been in Ouran since primary school, it's easy to tell. Ryohei is from a normal background too, you can talk to him if you can deal with his... eccentric personality."
The student nodded. "Thanks. I'm Fujioka Haruhi, I guess I'll see you in class." She says with a small nod. If only she knew that later that day she was going to meet the older and more eccentric Suoh cousin.
