Chapter 16: A Tragic Battle
Chise and Ruth battle against the Spell-Breaker's army. This takes place at the same time as the previous 3 fights. Chise and the Spell-Breaker will also have their first proper fight with each other in this chapter. I will specify when the three previous chapters end within this chapter. Also worth noting, from this chapter onward, the story will get darker with more mature themes, new tags will be added accordingly. Enjoy.
As the team charged at the Spell-Breaker's army, most of the team went for their chosen targets. Elias ran to Lindel, Silky ran to Angelica, Joseph ran to Simon, and Chise and Ruth kept running toward the army. Ruth also had morphed into his dog form. As Chise and Ruth were running at the Spell-Breaker's army, they stopped when they saw that for some reason, the whole army had stopped running towards them.
"Huh? Why did they stop?" Ruth asked.
"I have no idea." Chise said as she stared at the skeletons in confusion.
Suddenly, the Spell-Breaker dropped down from above, landing a good distance in front of Chise and Ruth on his knee, with his fist on the ground. The Spell-Breaker looked up at Chise and then stood up as he continued to look at Chise.
"You." Chise said angrily as she held up her wand, ready to attack the Spell-Breaker.
Before Chise could activate a spell, the Spell-Breaker pulled out one of his guns at the speed of light and fired one shot on the ground, only a few centimeters from Chise's right foot. Chise was shook by this as she did not expect that shot to be fired so quickly.
"Ah-ah. Not yet, Chise. Put the wand down." The Spell-Breaker said as he aimed his gun at Chise.
Chise did not move as she just angrily stared at the Spell-Breaker. Not liking that Chise didn't do what he told her to do, the Spell-Breaker pulled out his other gun just as fast and fired a shot that just barely missed Ruth's head.
"Shit!" Ruth yelled as the bullet barely missed him, causing him to flinch in fear.
"Put. The. Wand. Down. You. Stupid. Sleigh. Beggy. Bitch." The Spell-Breaker said slowly.
Chise instantly lowered her wand, but did not let go of it, her grip tightening on the wand in anger as she glared at the Spell-Breaker.
"Good girl. There, see? You can listen, right? Yeah I knew you could." The Spell-Breaker said mockingly as Chise glared at him. "Hmm? What's the matter, Chise? Why are you giving me that look, huh?" The Spell-Breaker asked.
"You are going to pay for what you did to my friends." Chise said angrily.
Spell-Breaker: (Laughs while holding his stomach)
"What's so funny!?" Chise asked angrily.
"You're mad at me because I killed 6 people!? HA! Let me tell you something, Chise, millions of people die every fucking second of every god damn day! And your bitching at me because I killed less than 10 people!? How much of a pussy are you!? Don't answer that because I already know, you wimpy-ass bitch!" The Spell-Breaker said.
"(Snarl) You have no right to talk to Chise like that!" Ruth yelled.
The Spell-Breaker responded by firing his gun a second time at Ruth, just barely missing his face again.
"And I'm not talking to you. If another word comes out of your mouth, I will make sure that my next shot kills you, dog boy." The Spell-Breaker threatened.
Ruth growled loudly and bared his teeth at the Spell-Breaker.
"Oh and by the way, that time when I shot you in the chest, I had fully intended to kill you. You're lucky I missed a fatal spot. Don't make me put you down for good, you oversized mutt. Now, I'm going to talk with Chise and you will stay quiet. Okay? Good boy." The Spell-Breaker said as he turned his attention back to Chise.
Nobody calls me a, "Good Boy", except for Chise. And maybe Silky. And MAYBE Elias if I'm in a good enough of a mood. Ruth thought angrily to himself as he started growling even louder at the Spell-Breaker, his claws sharp and ready to slash somebody open.
"Now, here's the thing Chise, you and I WILL fight today, make no mistake about that. But first, I want to see what you can do against my whole army. And you know what? I'm feeling kind of generous today, so I'll let your puppy help you out. How does that sound to you, Sleigh Beggy?" The Spell-Breaker asked.
"Fine by me. But, I have something to say to you." Chise said.
"Oh, and what's that?" The Spell-Breaker asked.
"Take off your mask and tell me who you are, Spell-Breaker." Chise said.
"No, no, not yet. It's not time for that, Chise. Oh, but don't worry, you'll know who I am before you turn 18. But, you know what, since you've gotten strong since we first met, I think I should give you some credit. I am very proud of you, Chise." The Spell-Breaker said.
"Do you really think I care about how you feel towards me!?" Chise asked.
"(Chuckle) You're right, Chise. Why WOULD you care!? You only care about yourself after all. You've never cared for anyone else. Everything always has to be about you." The Spell-Breaker said.
Chise and Ruth said nothing as they just glared at the Spell-Breaker.
"Well, enough talking. I'll be waiting for you in the way back, Chise. If you can push past my army, then you will earn the right to fight me. I hope you can make it. Because I know for a fact that you and I both want to fight each other. And when we do, you will have your revenge against me, and I will have my revenge on you. Good luck, Sleigh Beggy." The Spell-Breaker said as he threw a smoke bomb on the ground in front of him.
Once the smoke cleared, the Spell-Breaker was gone and the army was waiting for their command to attack.
"Chise, I'm going to link us up again. We'll be able to use our magic more efficiently against the skeletons." Ruth said.
"You sure? I thought you said you weren't going to do that until we got back home." Chise said.
"I know I did, but I'm changing my mind. I'm linking us back for this fight. When we enter battle, make sure you listen to what I say and try not to get too seriously hurt. You got it?" Ruth asked.
"Got it, link us up, Ruth." Chise said.
"Already taken care of." Ruth said as he turned their mental link back on.
"You ready, Ruth?" Chise asked as the claws on her Dragon Hand sharpened, ready for battle.
"You bet, Chise." Ruth replied as he got his fire ready.
Meanwhile in the way back, behind the skeletons, the Spell-Breaker pulled out one of his guns, aimed it to the sky, and fired a single shot, signaling for his army to attack. Sure enough, once the shot was fired, the skeletons yelled and began charging to Chise and Ruth.
"Let's go, Ruth!" Chise yelled as she ran at the oncoming army.
"Right behind you, Chise!" Ruth responded as he followed beside her.
Chise, Ruth, and the skeleton army, then began to clash with each other as the fight began. As the fight started, the Spell-Breaker jumped onto a large rock that was high enough for him to have a good view of the battlefield.
"Let's see what you're really made of, Hatori." The Spell-Breaker said as he crossed his arms, turned his whole body to face away from the battle, and just waited.
Chise got the first strike as she lunged forward and punched one skeleton so hard, it shattered to pieces. Ruth jumped above Chise as he breathed his fire at the surrounding skeletons, lighting them on fire. Ruth landed back down and then grabbed one of the skeletons with his tail and slammed it into a bunch of other skeletons. One skeleton tried to stab Chise through the chest, but Chise sidestepped out of the way and used her Dragon Hand to back hand the skeleton away. Chise grabbed ahold of a skeleton that tried to slice her in half and tossed it into 5 other skeletons. Another skeleton tried to bring its sword down on Chise's head, but Chise grabbed the skeleton's hand and caught the sword. As Chise held the skeleton back, she kicked away another skeleton that tried to stab her while she was blocking. Ruth ran over to Chise's aid as he lit his fangs up with fire and bit down on the skeleton's leg, biting it off. Ruth then bit the skeleton by the neck and tore its neck bone off. Ruth tossed the skeleton's body down and then morphed into his human form to assist Chise with the surrounding skeletons. Chise grabbed the face of one of the skeletons and yanked it back, allowing Ruth to grab the skeleton by the spine and slam it down to the floor, destroying the skeleton. Ruth then slid under 2 skeletons, got up, grabbed both of them by their neck bones and smashed them against 5 other skeletons. Chise relaxed her Dragon Hand and summoned her wand in her hand. Chise then started to swing and smack her wand at the skeletons. Thankfully the wood that was used to make Chise's wand was strong enough to endure the sharp swords and blades that the skeletons had in their possession. Two skeletons tried to throw their blades at Chise, but Chise just spun her wand in a circle, blocking the blades and making them fall to the ground. Chise then ran up to the skeletons and swung her wand so hard at them, that she knocked their heads off. Meanwhile, Ruth had just punched away a skeleton, then he was suddenly grabbed from behind and he started struggling as another skeleton held him by his throat. Ruth quickly morphed into his dog form so he could slip out of the skeleton's grip. Once Ruth was on the ground, he raised his back legs up and kicked the skeleton away. Ruth also managed to use his fire power to burn about 6 skeletons that were in front of Ruth when he landed. Ruth then used his tail to grab ahold of one of the skeleton's swords and used it to fight off some other skeletons.
Chise ducked and weaved out of the way as a skeleton repeatedly slashed at her. As Chise was backing up away, she noticed that another skeleton was coming up from behind her, ready to stab her. Chise waited until the last minute and then slid out of the way, causing the 2 skeletons to smash into each other. While they were stunned from the collision, Chise used her wand to fire a beam of magic at the skeletons, blasting their heads off. Another skeleton caught Chise off guard as it managed to cut Chise's arm. Thankfully the cut wasn't very deep or serious but it was enough for both Chise and Ruth to feel the stinging pain. Chise let out a painful yell and then turned around just in time to block the skeleton from cutting her head off. Chise put away her wand using magic and then grabbed ahold of the skeleton's jaw with her other hand. Chise then ripped the skeleton's jaw off and smacked the skeleton in the face with it. Chise then sharped her Dragon Hand and tore off the skeleton's arm. Chise then picked up the skeleton and tossed it at 3 more oncoming skeletons. Chise turned around and saw 4 skeletons running at her in a straight line. Chise took a deep breath and then ran full speed at the skeletons. As she covered her head with her right arm, she smashed her way right through the skeletons with her Dragon Hand, shattering the skeletons to pieces. Seeing 2 more skeletons right in front of her, Chise did not waste time as she used the momentum from her smash attack to leap into the air and punched the skeletons hard in the face, shattering their skulls. Chise landed safely and as she looked up, she saw Ruth about to get stabbed by a skeleton. Chise reacted quickly as she summoned her wand and blasted the skeleton away, saving Ruth. Immediately after that Chise stood up quickly and blasted a few more skeletons away that had tried to sneak up on her. One skeleton jumped up above Chise, attempting to stab Chise through the top of the head. Chise jumped out of the way and then grabbed ahold of the skeleton by the throat once it landed. Chise then slammed the skeleton on the ground, snapping the neckbone. Another skeleton punched Chise in the back of the head, knocking her down. The skeleton tried to stab Chise in the stomach, but Chise rolled out of the way and then used her wand to knock the skeleton off its feet. Chise quickly got up and stomped on the skull of the skeleton. Chise then saw 5 skeletons running at her. Chise smiled and then ran at them as well. Chise then slammed her wand on the ground and used it like an athletic pole to leap over the skeletons. Once Chise landed, she blasted the skeleton in the lower spine, causing the skeletons to break apart in half. Chise saw from the corner of her eye, a skeleton was sneaking up to her, Chise spun around, ducked, and then uppercutted the skeleton, knocking its head off with her Dragon Hand.
Chise then decided to run to Ruth to give him some cover. As Chise ran to Ruth, she blasted skeletons away with her wand, clearing her path. Once Chise made it to Ruth, she telepathically notified him of her presence. Ruth did not lose his focus on combat, but he telepathically told Chise to help him clear away some of these skeletons with their long range attacks. Chise telepathically agreed as she prepared her wand. Once they were ready, Ruth stood right next to Chise, but facing the opposite side she was facing. Chise and Ruth then started spinning around in unison, all while unleashing their attacks on the skeletons. Chise was firing her magic beams while Ruth was breathing fire at the skeletons. After a few seconds of this, Chise and Ruth stopped their attacks as they prepared for the next wave. Ruth was displeased as he saw some of the skeletons that he had burned stood up, still able to fight. As the skeletons slowly closed in on Chise and Ruth, they began firing their magic long range attacks to keep the skeletons at bay. Then Ruth thought of an idea and announced his plan to Chise through their minds.
"Chise, my fire needs more power, I have an idea." Ruth telepathically said as he continued to blast his fire at the skeletons.
"Well, what is it?" Chise telepathically asked as she fired her beams of magic at the skeletons.
"I'm going to have you carry me on your back, you think you can carry me?" Ruth telepathically asked.
"With my new strength, I'm sure I can handle it." Chise telepathically said.
"Good, here's the plan. I'm going to get on your back and while you fire your magic, I'll mix it with my fire. This will enhance your magic beams and do more damage. You got me?" Ruth telepathically asked.
"Sure, that will work. Just try not to burn my hair please?" Chise telepathically asked as she jokingly smiled.
"Ha, ha, you girls and your hair. Don't work, I won't burn you, just try not move your head too much and you'll be fine." Ruth telepathically said.
"Got it, quickly get on." Chise telepathically said.
"On it." Ruth telepathically said as he fired one last fire blast at a few skeletons and then jumped on Chise's back, with his front paws resting on Chise's shoulders. Ruth also made sure to cover Chise from the back as he used the sword still clutched in his tail to fend off other skeletons. "Ready?" Ruth telepathically asked.
"Ready." Chise telepathically said as she fired her beams of magic.
As Chise did this, Ruth breathed his fire, the fire almost touching the end of Chise's wand, but not quite. With every beam fired from the wand, the beams were enhanced with Ruth's firepower, turning the beams into little fire beams that exploded on impact. Chise made sure to spin around to blast away the skeletons surrounding them. After about 20 seconds of this, Ruth telepathically notified Chise that they could stop this attack. Ruth hopped off Chise's back and stood next to her, ready to continue their attack.
"You ready for some more teamwork, Chise?" Ruth telepathically asked.
"You bet, Ruth. Let's show them what we can do." Chise telepathically replied.
Chise and Ruth ran to the skeletons and began their assault. Ruth started the assault by leaping into the air and skull bashing a skeleton. Once the skeleton was down, Ruth morphed into his human form and picked up the skeleton.
"Take it out!" Ruth yelled as he threw the skeleton to Chise.
"You're mine!" Chise yelled as she jumped in the air, grabbed the skeleton and then smashed it down onto the ground.
Once Chise landed, she ducked and rolled out of the way of a skeleton that tried to cut her. Chise then got up and blasted the skeleton away with her wand. Ruth made sure to avoid every attack he could as the skeletons surrounding him were slashing at him. Ruth found a good opening and then morphed into his dog form. Once he was in his dog form, Ruth smacked all the skeletons that surrounded him away using his long tail. Chise smacked the blade out of a skeletons hand and she picked up the skeleton, crushing it and then holding onto one of its arms. Then Chise got an idea.
"Ruth!" Chise yelled, causing Ruth to look in her direction. "Fetch!" Chise yelled as she threw the skeleton arm over a large amount of the army.
Ruth watched as the arm flew over him and then felt his canine instincts kick in as he went to fetch the arm. As Ruth ran, he smashed up a skeleton and grabbed ahold of its sword and took it with him in his mouth. Ruth used the sword to cut up skeletons that were in his way until he reached the spot where the arm had fallen. Ruth however did not pick up the arm as instead he continued to keep fighting off as many skeletons as he could. Ruth bit at one of the skeleton's feet, only to get kicked back by another skeleton. Ruth rolled over a bit before straightening himself up as he confronted the skeleton that kicked him. The skeleton swung at Ruth with one sword, but Ruth blocked it with the sword he held onto with his tail. Ruth engaged in a brief sword battle with the skeleton as he swung his sword around wildly at the skeleton. Ruth was then jumped by about 5 skeletons but before they could even scratch him, he dove into his shadow. Only his tail was left out of the shadow as he used it to swing around wildly, taking out the skeletons. Ruth jumped out of his shadow and took out another skeleton before he got smacked in his face by the blunt end of a sword. Ruth rolled over a bit before he git himself back up and burned the skeleton. As Ruth was knocked to his feet again, he briefly saw something that really ticked him off. In the distance, Ruth saw that every time they took out a skeleton, another one would just pop up out of the ground and join the other skeletons in the fight. Ruth knew that if they kept going, Chise would have no strength or energy left to battle the Spell-Breaker.
Damn it! They just keep coming! If this keeps up, were done for! I might have to use that form. Ruth thought to himself as he threw the sword in his tail through the head of a skeleton as he dove back into his shadow and made is way over to where Chise was fighting.
As Ruth was making his way to Chise, he would leap out of his shadow and burn as many skeletons as he could, trying to get rid of as many as possible so he could clear a decent path for Chise. After a few moments, Ruth made it and landed right next to Chise, getting rid of the skeletons that were close to her.
"Thanks for the help, Ruth!" Chise said as she held up her wand.
"Chise, stand back!" Ruth yelled as he closed his front paws suddenly lit up in flames as he raised them up. "FIELD OF FIRE!" Ruth yelled as he slammed his paws down on the ground, creating a large circle of fire around himself and Chise, preventing the skeletons from getting to them.
"Woah, good job, Ruth!" Chise said as she looked around.
"Alright, Chise, listen up! These skeletons aren't getting taken out anytime soon, so new plan! When I say, go, you turn into that flaming phoenix thing that you can turn into, and make your way to the Spell-Breaker and finish this off! Got it!?" Ruth asked as he kept his paws steady and still firmly planted on the ground.
"But what about you, Ruth!?" Chise asked.
"Don't worry, these boneheads aren't going to lay a bone on me! I can handle them. Just get yourself to the Spell-Breaker and defeat him!" Ruth said.
"Okay, got it!" Chise said as she put her wand away and waited for Ruth's signal.
"Alright! Ready... GO!" Ruth said as he undid the Field of Fire.
The moment the fire disappeared, Chise closed her eyes and then activated her special ability as her body was wrapped up flames. Chise then flew up in the air and wasted no time as she started flying to where the Spell-Breaker was standing. The skeletons were about to follow her but Ruth called out to them as he morphed back into his human form.
"Hey boneheads! You want a real fight!? Well you're going to get one!" Ruth yelled as the skeletons turned their attention back to him.
It's been a while since I've used that form. But I need to buy Chise as much time as possible. Ruth thought to himself as the skeletons inched closer to him.
"BLAZING FUSION!" Ruth yelled as he put both of his hands together in a prayer form before he was suddenly swallowed up in flames.
From within the flames, Ruth yelled as he activated one of his most powerful abilities. A few moments later, Ruth burst out of the flames in his newly activated form. The skeletons were quite shocked to see Ruth's new form. It was like Ruth had combined his human form with his dog form, with a bit of fire added to spice it up. Most of Ruth's body was still human, but on his hands and feet, he had his sharp claws. He had the eyes of his dog form, along with the teeth of his dog form. Out of his lower back, his dog tail came out and at the tip of it was a burning flame. On the palms of his hands and on his forehead, he had the Japanese symbol of fire printed in a fire red color. From the sides of Ruth's eyes, fire burned furiously. Ruth let out a loud and feral snarl as he glared at the surrounding skeletons.
"Alright boys! Time to die!" Ruth yelled as he began his attack. "RAIN OF FIRE!" Ruth yelled as he raised his hands in the air, forming a dark orange cloud in the sky, then pointing his hands in the direction of the skeletons, raining fire down on the skeletons.
After a lot of the skeletons were good and burned, Ruth leapt forward and lit his fists with fire as he started punching the skeletons. Ruth was able to punch his way through a lot of skeletons before he stopped and jumped in the air. Ruth then slightly extended his arms out and then fire started to shoot out of his hand, it was like Ruth's hands were rocket boosters or something. When there was a good amount of fire shooting out of both hands, Ruth spun around in the air, doing what looked like a ballerina fire dance as she spun around, burning a ton of skeletons with his fire. Ruth landed back on the ground and lit his fists up again as he dove back into combat. Two skeletons grabbed ahold of Ruth's arms, but then his arms suddenly lit up with flames, burning the skeletons off of him. Ruth ducked and weaved as he avoided the brutal swing of a sword before he fire punched the skeleton away. The skeletons stopped moving in unison and then started to attack Ruth one by one, as if that was going to work. One skeleton charged at Ruth, attempting to impale him through the heart with a spear Ruth sidestepped out of the way, grabbed the spear and then swung it around and around until he let go of it, sending the skeleton flying off. Another skeleton tried to grab Ruth by the throat and strangle him but Ruth used his fire fists to punch the holy hell out of the skeleton before blasting its head off with an uppercut. Two more skeletons tried to swing at Ruth from both sides but he stopped that from happening by blasting them with the fire from his hands. Another skeleton went to stab Ruth in the back, but Ruth quickly dodged and grabbed the skeleton by its arms, ripping them off. Ruth killed the skeleton by crushing its skull between his fire fists. Three skeletons charged at Ruth with swords but Ruth stopped them almost instantly when he fire 3 fire balls at the skeletons from his hands. Ruth was then charged by 3 more skeletons, which Ruth instantly took care of by blasting them with more fire balls. Ruth then sensed that there was danger coming from behind and then quickly stood in a specific stance. Suddenly Ruth's foot lit up with fire.
"BLAZE KICK!" Ruth yelled as he spun around quickly and kicked the oncoming skeleton in the chest so hard, it shattered to burned up pieces.
Ruth was almost stabbed in the face by another skeleton but he managed to dodge right in time. Ruth ducked under the skeleton and used his fire fists to upper cut it. Ruth then fire punched another skeleton that tried to grab ahold of him. Ruth was shocked when he was suddenly grabbed and yanked back by his tail. Ruth fell to the floor as he was yanked by his tail. Ruth's eyes were filled with pure rage as he watched a skeleton continue to pull him by the tail. Ruth yelled and then his whole tail lit up with fire, burning the hands off of the skeleton. Ruth then grabbed the skeleton by the neck with his tail and pulled it back into a burning uppercut. Then a bunch of skeletons tried to jump Ruth but he stopped that by blasting fire from his hands while waving his arms around, ensuring that every skeleton was hit by the fire. Ruth was then grabbed from behind as a skeleton put him in a choke hold, ready to slice his throat. Ruth wasted no time as his hair suddenly lit up in flames as he burned the face off the skeleton. Ruth then Blaze Kicked another skeleton that tried to stab him in the heart. Ruth was taken aback as the skeletons stopped attacking him. Ruth then saw that from the crowd, a rather large and bulky skeleton warrior walked up to Ruth. In one hand a big sword and in the other a big shield. Ruth smirked as he thought that this was just stupid, but he prepared himself. The big warrior ran at Ruth and swung its sword. Ruth ran forward and flipped over the sword and over the warrior. Once Ruth was behind, he blasted his fire at the warrior. However, the warrior quickly blocked the fire using its shield. After Ruth stopped blasting his fire, the warrior charged at Ruth again, this time bring its sword downward at Ruth. Ruth jumped out of the way, but was then smacked away by the shield. Ruth used this to his advantage however as he blasted about 4 fire balls at the warrior's elbows, blasting its arms off. Once Ruth landed, he lit both of his feet up with fire and charged at the warrior. Ruth then Blaze Kicked the warrior so hard it flew up in the air. Ruth wasn't done however as he jumped up to it and then unleased his next attack.
"You're finished! BLAZING KICKS OF FURY!" Ruth yelled as he started kicking the hell out of the warrior. "DIE!" Ruth yelled as with one more good kick to the head, the warrior was smacked to the ground and shattered to burned up pieces, with Ruth landing after the pieces. "There's more where that came from boys!" Ruth yelled as he went right back to fighting the other skeletons.
Meanwhile, Chise had finally made it to where the Spell-Breaker was. She landed softly and once she reverted to her normal form, she took out her wand and got her Dragon Hand ready. The Spell-Breaker, sensing Chise's presence, turned to look at her with his hands behind his back.
"So you made it. Good, I was waiting for you." The Spell-Breaker said as he turned his whole body to face Chise.
Chise said nothing as she used her wan to fire a beam of magic at the Spell-Breaker. The Spell-Breaker was quick to react as he used some sort of black magic looking spell to cancel out Chise's attack. Chise didn't stop as she kept firing beam after beam of magic at the Spell-Breaker. The Spell-Breaker just very casually used his own magic to cancel every attack. The Spell-Breaker eventually got fed up and pulled out his guns and started shooting at Chise. Chise avoided the first couple of bullets and then ran around the Spell-Breaker as fast as she could, all while avoid his bullets. Eventually, Chise got close enough to land some sort of attack. Chise then used the spell that Elias had taught her.
"BRIGHT FLASH!" Chise yelled as she unleashed a burst of bright light out of her body.
This caused the Spell-Breaker to stumble back a bit as he covered his eyes. Chise took this opportunity to ran up to him and started punching him over and over and over and over again in the stomach. Chise kept punching the Spell-Breaker for a good minute before she shoved him back a bit, clenched her Dragon Hand in a fist and then bashed his head into the ground. The Spell-Breaker went completely limp, almost as if he was dead. Chise knew better as she backed away from his body and used her wand top lift his fingers to see if he was still conscious. When Chise saw that his fingers were totally limp, she took a deep breath as she relaxed herself a bit. But that was a huge mistake as the Spell-Breaker suddenly sprang back to life as he got up and flung some sort of needle like object into Chise's neck. The needle didn't go through her neck, it felt more like a shot from the doctor. Chise felt something flow into her bloodstream as she stood still. The Spell-Breaker laughed as he got back up to his feet and walked towards Chise.
"Ha! If you wanted to kill me then, you should have kept beating my skull into the ground with that hand of yours." The Spell-Breaker said as he walked towards her.
Chise was about to raise her wand up and fire another beam of magic at the Spell-Breaker but she couldn't move.
"Why... can't... I... move!?" Chise said as she desperately tried to get her body to move. Oh god... I'm paralyzed! The needle... something must have... poisoned me or something. Chise thought to herself as the Spell-Breaker stood right in front of her.
"You know Chise, that's a very nice wand you got there. Huh? What's that? I can have it? Why so generous all of a sudden?" The Spell-Breaker asked as he reached for her wand.
"You... bastard!" Chise said as she tried with all her might to move, but to no avail. "Ruth? Ruth!? RUTH!? ANSWER ME!" Chise screamed in her head.
"What's wrong, Chise!?" Ruth telepathically asked.
"Cut off our link, now!" Chise telepathically yelled.
"But, Chise-." Ruth started.
"CUT IT! NOW!" Chise telepathically screamed.
Ruth obeyed and cut off their mental link just as the Spell-Breaker grabbed ahold of Chise's wand.
"Thanks for letting me have this Chise." The Spell-Breaker said as he took the wand from Chise. "Yeah, this is a nice wand. Oh, don't worry. I'll give it back, right after I do this!" The Spell-Breaker said as he smacked Chise in the face hard with her own wand.
Ironically the moment that movement returned to Chise's body, was when she was on the ground and getting beaten relentlessly by the Spell-Breaker. The Spell-Breaker didn't stop for a moment as he kept beating Chise over and over with her wand. Chise could only attempt to crawl away as she continued to get hit brutally. After a good 2 minutes of being beaten brutally, The Spell-Breaker stopped hitting Chise. Chise immediately tried to get back up, but she was cut short when the Spell-Breaker kicked her hard in the stomach and then stomped on her back hard. Chise cried out in pain as the Spell-Breaker started kicking her around as if she were a soccer ball. Chise eventually somehow managed to roll out of the way and she desperately crawled to a nearby tree. The Spell-Breaker caught up to her in no time as he grabbed her by the air, yanked her to her feet, and then slammed her back against the tree hard. Chise didn't even have time to register this pain as the Spell-Breaker suddenly pressed her wand up against her throat, choking her while keeping her pinned to the tree behind her. Chise tried desperately to push the Spell-Breaker off but the force was so intense that she could barely muster the strength to even mover her fingers. The Spell-Breaker chuckled as he watched Chise suffocate.
"Night, night, Hatori." The Spell-Breaker said.
"(Cough) (Wheeze) Bright... Flash!" Chise gasped as she unleashed the burst of bright light again, stunning the Spell-Breaker and causing him to loosen his grip enough to where Chise could free herself.
Chise didn't even get a moment to catch her breathe before the Spell-Breaker grabbed her by the throat and shoved her back against the tree, choking her once again. This time however, Chise was able to get the Spell-Breaker away from her by giving him a good couple punches in the gut with her Dragon Hand. The exact moment that the Spell-Breaker's grip loosened, Chise snatched her wand back and blasted about 5 magic beams at the Spell-Breaker, causing him to fly back a bit and hit the ground hard. Chise ran to the Spell-Breaker with the intent to pin him to the ground with her wand, but before she could reach him, the Spell-Breaker jumped back up and kicked Chise in the stomach, knocking her back a bit and causing her to drop her wand. The Spell-Breaker then pulled out a large knife from his boot and ran up to stab Chise. Chise quickly grabbed ahold of his arm, holding it back. The Spell-Breaker then tried to punch Chise with his other hand, but she grabbed ahold of that one too. Now they were both locked together, each one trying to overpower the other. From a distance, it looked like a couple that was slow dancing, but in reality, this was a struggle, with both sides intending to take the other down. The two spun around for a few minutes before the Spell-Breaker finally landed a headbutt on Chise. The Spell-Breaker tried to slice her throat, but thankfully only managed to cut her arm a bit. The Spell-Breaker slashed at Chise multiple times, but Chise had recovered her strength and was able to dodge every swipe. The Spell-Breaker then lunged at Chise but she sidestepped him and then shoved him away. Chise then ran to her wand and grabbed it. The Spell-Breaker then recovered from his stumble and looked at Chise, breathing heavily through his mask.
"Come on, Chise, put the wand away. No magic, let's settle this, hand to hand." The Spell-Breaker said as he held up his fists.
Chise did not utter a word as she put her wand away and clenched her fists in anger.
"What's wrong? Loss for words? Come on Chise, this is it. The moment we've both been waiting for." The Spell-Breaker said.
"I have nothing to say to you. Except for this, you WILL pay for what you have done and I WILL rip that mask right off your face." Chise said, her voice full of rage.
"I like your confidence, but it will get you nowhere. You WILL die for what you've done to me, Chise Hatori." The Spell-Breaker said.
With that, the two ran towards each other, their fists locked in combat, and the real fight began.
Meanwhile, a group of skeletons were making their way to the unconscious bodies of Silky and Angelica. Long before this battle in the forest had even happened, they were ordered to collect the bodies of their commanding officers if they were taken down. The commanding officers were of course, Lindel, Angelica, and Simon. The skeletons reached the bodies and grabbed Angelica's unconscious body. A few them carried her away and the others poked at Silky's body with their swords. One of the skeletons raised its sword up to stab Silky through her heart when the skeleton heard the sound of someone yelling. The skeleton turned around only to get its head cut off by Joseph's sword. The skeletons were taken aback as Joseph dove into the crowd and stood next to Silky, his eyes full of rage. The skeletons were a bit confused as to why Joseph was even going to fight. He was greatly wounded from his battle with Simon. Joseph had almost no energy left, there was no way he could put up a good fight.
"You leave her alone!" Joseph yelled as he started to battle the skeletons.
Joseph swung his sword and cut the arm off of a skeleton, finishing it off by cutting its head off. The skeletons were still surprised at how Joseph was still willing to fight, so they decided to mess with him. The skeletons started to attack Joseph one by one, messing with him a bit before they would finish him off. One skeleton lunged at Joseph, aiming to cut his head off, but Joseph dodged the swing and cut the skeleton in half by its stomach. Another skeleton grabbed Joseph's arms from behind and tried to restrain him, Joseph was able to free him self by bashing the back of his head into the face of the skeleton. With the skeleton stunned, Joseph turned around fast and chopped the skeleton's head off. Two more skeletons approached Joseph and Joseph engaged in a sword fight with the two. Joseph desperately tried to keep up his strength as he blocked and parried the attacks. Eventually, Joseph managed to get them to kill each other. When Joseph was in the middle of them, they both took a swing at him with their swords. At the last second, Joseph ducked under, causing the skeletons to slice each other in half. Another skeleton tried to slice Joseph's arm off, but Joseph blocked the attack in time. Joseph repeatedly swung his sword at the skeleton in an attempt to overpower it, but the skeleton was very strong. Joseph eventually locked blades with the skeleton as they pushed against each other. Joseph then purposely slipped, causing the skeleton to fall forward, and allowing Joseph the chance to slice its head off. Joseph was then grabbed by the arm from behind so Joseph elbowed the skeleton hard in the face, allowing him to cut both its head and arm off. Joseph could now start to feel his body get slower and slower. Soon, he would have no energy left to continue the fight.
As Joseph was fighting off the skeletons, Silky regained consciousness. Silky opened her eyes very weakly only to see a wounded and exhausted Joseph fighting off a group of skeletons. Silky was terribly worried that Joseph would get himself killed so she decided to aid him in battle. But Silky was unable to move, her body was too wounded and too weak from her previous battle with Angelica. She couldn't even open her mouth to speak or to cry out to Joseph. Silky cursed herself as all she could do now was watch in horror as Joseph tried desperately to fend off the skeletons. Joseph was determined to protect Silky no matter what, he wouldn't let the skeletons hurt her. Joseph barley avoided getting his leg cut off by a skeleton from behind. Joseph spun around and locked blades with the skeleton for a few moments before he was finally able to find an opening and cut its legs off. Once the skeleton fell to the ground, Joseph finished it by cutting its head off. Joseph then dodged a surprise attack from a skeleton and then rammed into it with his shoulder. With the skeleton stunned, Joseph took the chance to slice the skeleton's head off. Another skeleton slashed Joseph on the back with its sharp claws. Joseph winced in pain but didn't lose focus as he spun around, decapitating the skeleton and then cutting another skeleton in half from behind. Another skeleton grabbed ahold of Joseph's arms and kept him still. Joseph struggled hard as he tried to free himself from the skeleton's grip. After a few moments of struggling, Joseph wrapped his foot around the back of the skeleton's leg, tripping it. Joseph then cut both of the skeleton's arms off as well as its head. Joseph continued this over and over until he felt his body really start to lose its stamina. Joseph started slowing down as he tried to keep fighting. Joseph was then punched in the back of the head so hard that he dropped his sword. Joseph then fell to ground but was then picked up by one of the skeletons. Joseph then started to get severely beaten and scratched by the skeletons.
Meanwhile, Silky, who was still unable to move, felt tears begin to form in her eyes as she was forced to watch as Joseph was getting brutally beaten down. Joseph was backhanded several times by a skeleton. After a good beating, Joseph was then sashed across the back multiple times by the sharp claws. Joseph managed to free himself from the skeleton's grip and started to throw punches at them. But that proved to do nothing as the skeletons just started to beat the hell out of Joseph by punching him repeatedly. Joseph was punched in the face, only to be immediately punched in the back of the head, and then to be punched in the stomach. Joseph coughed up blood as he was punched hard in the stomach. Joseph's head was suddenly pulled back as he was punched in the face, giving him a black eye. Joseph was then slashed across the back and then stabbed in the side by a large dagger. Joseph was in such brutal pain, but there was nothing he could do. Joseph then started to get "lightly" poked by the skeletons' swords. Joseph fell to his knees as he endured the brutal jabbing from the skeletons. After a good 5 minutes of being stabbed over and over, Joseph fell to the floor completely as the skeletons stopped their assault on him. When Joseph got a moment of freedom, he saw a skeleton arm on the ground in front of him. Joseph crawled to it, picked it up and weakly got back up to his feet and held up the arm like it was a sword. Seeing this, the skeletons laughed as they saw this pathetic display of courage as Joseph started to weakly swing the arm around at the skeletons. Joseph was then punched in the face by a skeleton as he tried to avoid the slash of a sword. Joseph stumbled back as he regained his posture to fight. Joseph swung the arm at a skeleton, but the skeleton was easily able to push Joseph away by hitting him in the face with the side of the blade. Joseph then tried to cut the head off of the skeleton, but the skeleton dodged the attack and cut the hand of the arm that Joseph was holding, now reducing Joseph's weapon to looking like a huge dog bone. As Joseph raised up the bone again to fight, Silky finally found her voice.
"STOP!" Silky screamed as she cried out to the horribly wounded Joseph. "Please... stop!" Silky begged as she watched Joseph continue to fight.
Joseph knew there was no way he could win this battle, but he had to protect Silky at all costs. Joseph hated hearing Silky's cries but he just kept on fighting, refusing to surrender. As Joseph raised up the bone to fight, a skeleton bashed Joseph on the head so hard that he fell face first on the ground, dropping the bone. The skeleton then kicked Joseph so hard in the face that he literally flipped over and the back of his head hit the ground hard as he landed next to Silky. The kick had also knocked off the cloth that Joseph was using to cover his destroyed eye, so when Joseph landed next to Silky, she saw his cut open eye. Joseph was bleeding profusely as he tried to stand up, but his body had no strength left. Joseph and Silky just looked into each other's eyes as the skeletons got ready to finish both of them off. Joseph silently mouthed the words, "I'm sorry" to Silky as the skeletons raised their blades. Silky gave Joseph a weak yet warm smile as they held each other's hand, accepting their fate to die together. Then, right as the skeletons started to bring their swords down to kill them, the skeletons were suddenly destroyed by a bunch of large thorn vines that shot out of the ground. Joseph and Silky looked over to see Elias, who had just finished his battle with Corrupted Lindel. Elias had managed to save them just in time. With the surrounding skeletons taken out, Elias walked over to Joseph and Silky, kneeling above them as he performed some sort of spell on Silky, returning energy to her body.
"Take Joseph away from here, healing him would take too much time for me. Wait outside the house until I return with Chise and Ruth!" Elias said as he said a chant that summoned a portal back to the house.
Silky nodded as she picked up Joseph and jumped into the portal, with Elias getting rid of it once they were both through. With that done, Elias turned and ran over to aid Ruth, fighting through the skeletons as fast as he could.
Meanwhile, Ruth was still hard at work taking out the skeletons. Ruth was now filled with worry since he had cut his link with Chise once again, but he knew he had to keep fighting. Ruth was shaken out of his worried thoughts as he fire punched a skeleton that tried to cut the back of his neck. Ruth then blasted 4 skeletons away using his fire ball attack as he dodged a swing. Ruth then did 3 backflips as he dodged a rapid swing from a skeleton. Ruth landed on his knee and then burned the skeleton with his fire. Ruth then used the fire on his tail to smack away 4 skeletons that tried to grab him from behind. Ruth then used his tail as a launchpad to fling himself above the skeletons. Once Ruth was in the air, he spun around, blasting fire balls from his hands and destroying a lot of skeletons. Ruth then landed back on the ground and lunged forward, headbutting a skeleton so hard that its skull shattered. Ruth then sidestepped out of the way as a skeleton tried to slice his arm off from behind. Ruth then spun around, punching the skeleton hard in the face with his fire fist. Ruth then Blaze Kicked another skeleton that tried to grab ahold of his arm, smashing it to pieces. As soon as Ruth adjusted himself after the Blaze Kick, he was slashed across the face by the claw of a skeleton. Luckily, the claw was no where near his eye, so Ruth could still see, but he had a nasty scar. Ruth grabbed the skeleton and yanked it close to him. Ruth then grabbed the skeleton by the sides of its skull and then burned it with his fire. Ruth then ducked under a skeleton that tried to kill him from behind. Ruth finished the skeleton off by punching its head off with an uppercut. Ruth then got on all fours and stood in a feral and animalistic stance and he let out a loud snarl. Ruth then lit his whole body up with fire as he started to charge right through the skeletons. After a few moments, Ruth went back to standing up and then blasted his fire at a group of skeletons that were coming up from behind him. Ruth then turned around and engaged 4 more oncoming skeletons. Ruth ducked under the sword of the first skeleton, upper cuttings its head off with his fire fist. Ruth slid to the side of the second skeleton, avoiding being grabbed. Ruth ran past the skeleton and then Blaze Kicked it in the back, causing the skeleton to smash to pieces. Ruth then used his fire fists to block the sword of the third skeleton. Ruth blasted the skeleton with fire and then grabbed the sword and threw it at the fourth skeleton, cutting its head off in the process. Ruth turned and saw a skeleton running towards him with two large daggers, ready to jab him. Ruth ran towards the skeleton and then jumped on the skeleton, bringing them both to the ground. Ruth grabbed ahold of the skeletons arms to prevent it from stabbing him as they wrestled on the ground. Ruth then opened his mouth wide and then his teeth lit up with flames as he bit down on the skeleton's neck. Ruth then ripped the skull right off of the skeleton using his fire teeth.
Ruth looked back up and saw that even more skeletons were approaching him. Ruth groaned as he was pretty annoyed with these skeletons. Ruth also knew that even though his Blazing Fusion was a powerful ability, it came with a price. The longer he stayed in this mode, the more energy he would lose. Ruth knew that he couldn't keep this going forever or else he would be totally screwed. Ruth could already feel his energy start to waste so he knew it was time to get serious with his attacks. Ruth dove right back into battle, fighting the same as he did already, but also adding in a few of his more powerful attacks that he was capable of unleashing. Ruth took out a good amount of skeletons by blasting them with his fire balls. Ruth then dove into the shadows and snuck his way in the middle of the skeletons. Ruth then jumped out and went into the air above the skeletons. Ruth then raised his fist up and prepared to fall right back to the ground as he unleased his attack.
"TERRAIN OF ETERNAL FLAMES!" Ruth yelled as he dove right back down to the ground.
Ruth's fist smashed into the ground and the moment it did, huge flames burst out of the ground and burned the surrounding skeletons. The attack was very similar to Ruth's Field of Fire attack, but the range of the attack was much much bigger and the flames were more powerful. Ruth rolled back onto his feet and charged at more skeletons that were approaching him. Ruth ran right up to a group of skeletons and then smacked them down with his tail. Ruth then fire punched a skeleton so hard onto the ground that its skull shattered to pieces. Ruth then saw out of the corner of his eye 5 more skeletons running to him. Ruth turned around and burned them all down with his fire. Ruth was then attack by a skeleton that swung its sword wildly at him. Ruth ducked and weaved out of the way as the skeleton tried to hit him at least once. Ruth then grabbed the skeleton by the hands, and then ripped the arms off. Ruth then Blaze Kicked the head of the skeleton, decapitating it. Ruth then blasted a bunch of oncoming skeletons away with his fire balls before he was suddenly smacked in the back of the head by the flat end of a sword. Ruth was hit so hard that he actually fell to the ground. Before Ruth could get back up, he was grabbed by the sides of his head and then kneed hard in the face. Ruth fell back in pain as blood started gushing from his nose which was now broken. Ruth was suddenly grabbed by the throat and lifted up. The skeletons then started to jab him repeatedly with their swords and daggers, causing Ruth devastating pain. Then, a skeleton walked up to Ruth and raised its sword up to kill him. Suddenly, the skeleton was yanked into the ground by a huge thorn vine and then Elias jumped up out of the shadows to aid Ruth. Elias used his powerful magic to create a sonic boom of some sort to knock back all of the surrounding skeletons, giving them both a bit of time to rest.
"Heh, it's about time you got here." Ruth said as Elias turned to look at him, before Elias suddenly grabbed him by the throat and glared into Ruth's eyes. "H-Hey! What are you doing, Elias!?" Ruth gasped as Elias's grip became tighter around his throat.
"Ruth... Chise better not have a scratch on her." Elias said with anger in his voice.
"Let go of me, you idiot!" Ruth said as he shoved Elias's hand away. "Look, I disabled our link, all of 'this', is not gonna affect Chise, she's fine." Ruth said as he pointed to the wounds he had received.
"Good. Where is Chise?" Elias asked.
"She's fighting the Spell-Breaker right now." Ruth said as he pointed over to where Chise was battling the Spell-Breaker.
"I will go to her." Elias said as he turned to leave, before Ruth stopped him.
"Hey wait a minute, give me a hand will ya? Using this form... it takes a lot out of me. I could use your help taking out some of those guys." Ruth said.
"Very well. But soon, I will leave you to go to Chise's aid." Elias said.
"Yeah, I get it. Just help me out with this." Ruth said as he got ready to go back to fighting.
"I will." Elias said as he got his wand ready to battle.
With that, Elias and Ruth engaged in battle against the skeletons. When they were close enough, Elias started the fight by raising a bunch of thorns from the ground, wiping out a lot of skeletons. Ruth jumped over Elias and blasted a lot of fire balls at the skeletons, taking a lot of them down. They kept on firing their long ranged attacks at the skeletons until they were eventually surrounded by a lot of skeletons. Elias was jumped by 3 skeletons, but he was able to fend them off by smashing them to bits using his wand. Ruth saw that a skeleton was about to stab Elias in the back so he ran up and Blaze Kicked the skeleton away, saving Elias. Ruth then used his fire fists to punch his way through a good amount of the skeletons, while Elias did the same with his Thorn Fists. A skeleton jumped on top of Elias and tried to stab him in the eyes, but Elias grabbed the skeleton's foot and then slammed it down on the ground, smashing it to pieces. Elias then clashed with a skeleton for a bit before he used his powers to impale the skeleton with thorns that shot out of the ground. Elias's arms were suddenly grabbed by two skeletons as they shook him violently. Elias saw another skeleton running up to stab him with it sword. Elias waited until the last second before he yanked the skeleton on his left arm to the right side, causing that skeleton to get stabbed by the other skeleton. Elias then flung the other skeleton that was still holding his right arm into the crowd of oncoming skeletons. With both his arms free, Elias then smashed a skeleton with his wand, cutting the skeleton in half from its stomach. Elias then unleashed a huge amount of thorns from his hand as the thorns took out a lot of skeletons. Elias then saw about 7 skeletons jump in the air, attempting to pin Elias down to the ground from the corner of his eye.
"BARRIER!" Elias yelled as he summoned a large force field around himself, causing the skeletons that tried to pin him down, to fly off into the air and smash to pieces once they hit the ground.
Elias then chomped down on the head of a skeleton and threw it to the side as he backhanded another skeleton that tried to land a blow to his leg. Elias rammed into a few skeletons, slamming them into a tree before he decapitated two more skeletons that tried to sneak attack him. Elias then blasted another group of skeletons away using his thorn powers. Ruth meanwhile was fire punching his way through a crowd of skeletons that were trying to overwhelm him. Ruth used his tail to smack away a skeleton that tried to grab him. Ruth then spun around, shooting fire from his hands, burning down a good amount of the skeletons surrounding him. Ruth then Blaze Kicked a skeleton that tried to stab him in the back. Ruth ran towards two more skeletons that were charging at him. Ruth then jumped right over them and while midair, blasted their heads off with his fire balls. Ruth landed in front a skeleton and then uppercutted the skeleton with his fire fist. Ruth then turned around and fire punched a skeleton in the chest, causing it to fall apart. Ruth then back flipped over another skeleton and bashed its head into the ground with his Blaze Kick. Ruth then blasted two more skeletons with his fire balls. Ruth landed back on the ground and looked up to see a line of skeletons running to him. Ruth got in a battle stance and then raised up his hands. Then his claws grew so large and lit up with bright flames.
"PYRO SLASH!" Ruth yelled as he started to slash his way through the whole line of skeletons using his fire claws.
Once Ruth had cut through the skeletons, he ducked under the punch of another skeleton. Ruth then used his fire fangs to bite the skeleton in half. Ruth then used his Pyro Slash to slice to heads off of two more skeletons. Ruth then did a dive underneath a skeleton and then grabbing it by the back and ripping the skeleton in half. Ruth then burned a skeleton with his fire, doing so again to another skeleton that tried to slice his neck. Ruth then jumped back summoned a flame in his right hand. Ruth then started to swirl his left hand above the flame, causing it to start spinning and eventually forming into a large fire shuriken of some sort.
"FLAMING SHURIKEN!" Ruth yelled as he threw the massive shuriken into the crowd of skeletons.
The Flaming Shuriken mowed down a huge amount of skeletons before it came back around, taking down even more skeletons before Ruth finally caught the shuriken in his hands and then extinguished it. Ruth then jumped forward and fire punched a skeleton away, causing it to crash into a couple skeletons. Ruth then Blaze Kicked another skeleton, following it up with a fire punch to the skull of another skeleton, and then ending the combo with a flaming uppercut on another skeleton. Ruth then did a huge spin around as he blasted a bunch of skeletons away with his fire balls. Meanwhile, Elias was still taking out as many skeletons as he could. Elias was greatly impressed with how powerful Ruth was. It gave him a sense of calmness as that if something were to ever happen to him, at least Chise would have Ruth to protect her. Elias focused his mind back on the fight as he was cut across the back by a sword. Elias spun around fast, cutting 3 skeletons in half with his wand. Elias then used his Thorn Fists to bash through 4 skeletons at once with one good punch. Elias then cut another skeleton in half with his wand before upper cutting the head off of another skeleton. Elias then jumped back and made a few hand gestures with his left hand before he used his magic.
"Fae of Fire, UNLEASH!" Elias yelled as he extended his left hand out and then out from his palm, a huge fiery falcon flew out and mowed down a good amount of the skeletons before it let out a mighty screech and disappeared.
Elias then put his wand away as he made more hand gestures with his right hand before he used his magic.
"Fae of Water, UNLEASH!" Elias yelled as he made a sweeping motion with his right hand and then out from his palm, a huge swan made of water flew out and swept away a good amount of skeletons before it let out a mighty call and disappeared.
A skeleton jumped at Elias, trying to stab him in the heart, but Elias grabbed the skeleton by the arms and swung it around, smacking it into other surrounding skeletons before he threw it away into the air. Elias was then approached by a larger skeleton warrior as it tried to take him down. Elias used his thorns to trip the skeleton before he grabbed the skull. Elias then yanked open the skeleton's mouth and then opened his mouth wide. Then a large amount of flowing thorns came out of his mouth and right into the mouth of the skeleton, the thorns destroyed the body and destroyed the skeleton instantly. Elias then grabbed two more skeletons by their heads and then smashed them into each other hard, causing both of them to shatter to pieces. Elias then used his Thorn Fists to smash right through about 5 skeletons at once with a powerful punch. Elias then turned around to face a small group of skeletons that were slowly making their way to him. Elias then held out his left hand and then sprinkled some sort of sparkling dust onto his hand. Elias then blew the sparkling dust out at the skeletons and the dust floated around them. Then Elias clapped his hands and suddenly, the sparkling dust that surrounded the skeletons, blew up in a massive explosion, destroying the skeletons. Elias then turned around and blasted a flow of thorns at some more skeletons, impaling them and taking them down. Elias then summoned his wand back in his hand and used it to bash a few skeletons that tried to get the jump on him. Elias was then taken by surprise as a skeleton somehow managed to jump on his back again and stabbed him in the back with a dagger. Elias roared in pain, but he shook it off quickly as he used the curved end of his wand to hook onto the ribs of the skeleton and then he flung the skeleton off and slammed it onto the ground, causing it to break into pieces. Elias then unsummoned his wand as he started to wave his hands close to each other in a circular motion. Then in between Elias's hands, fire started to form. When Elias thought he had just the right amount of fire, he blasted the fire from his hands and burned down a whole group of skeletons. Ruth saw this new attack and dove into the shadows until he popped back up next to Elias.
"Hey, fire is MY thing, Elias! What gives!?" Ruth asked as he blasted a couple skeletons away with his fire balls.
"This is no time for a competition, Ruth." Elias said as he torched a couple more skeletons.
Elias and Ruth were back to back as they blasted away as many skeletons as they could. Elias then held out his right and and then started to do some sort of motion with his left hand. Elias would seem to like do some frantic movements, almost like wave moments with his left hand above his right hand. It was like Elias was directing the air to the palm of his right hand. Then a large bubble of water started to form in the palm of Elias's right hand and once it was large enough, Elias raised his right hand in the air and then slammed it down on the ground. As soon as the bubble of water hit the ground, it exploded and a large wave of water came out and washed away a large group of skeletons.
"Hey, since when could you do that!?" Ruth asked as he was greatly taken aback by this new power that Elias just displayed.
"For a long time." Elias replied as he fired a flow of thorns at a few more skeletons.
"That could have been useful in the past you know!" Ruth said as he torched a few skeletons.
"Enough! Focus! Ruth, it is time! Let us combine our attacks!" Elias said.
"You got it, pal!" Ruth replied as the two prepared to combine their attacks.
Ruth then went to stand next to Elias and they began their attack. Elias sent out a flow of thorns to the skeletons and Ruth blasted his fire at the thorns, the thorns then caught on fire and fused together.
"INFERNO VINES OF THORNS!" Elias and Ruth yelled as they sent multiple vines of blazing thorns into the crowd of skeletons, taking out a ton of them.
Elias and Ruth went back to back again as they started to burn down the surrounding skeletons. Elias and Ruth spun around in unison as they burned a lot of the surrounding skeletons using their fire magic. Ruth then formed his fire into another Flaming Shuriken as he threw it into the crowd of skeletons. Elias threw more of the sparkling dust at the skeletons and then made it explode, taking out some skeletons. Elias then summoned his wand again as he ran at a skeleton that was trying to impale both of them. Ruth jumped in the air to fire some more of his fire balls at the skeletons. As Elias smacked the skeleton with his wand, he threw a large gust of wind at Ruth's fire balls, making them larger and more powerful as they took out more skeletons than normal. Ruth then started to blast a huge amount of fire at the skeletons, when Elias once again combined Ruth's fire with his wind magic, making the fire bigger and burn more powerfully. Elias and Ruth then unleashed their Inferno Vines of Thorns attack again, taking out a lot of the skeletons that surrounded them. Of course, more and more skeletons just kept on coming and joining the fight. Ruth then went to form another one of his Flaming Shurikens when Elias decided to mix it with his water magic as he started to form his own shuriken, made out of water instead of fire.
"FLAMING SHURIKEN!" Ruth yelled as he threw his attack into the crowd.
"WATER SHURIKEN!" Elias yelled as he threw his attack into the crowd.
Elias then used his magic to fuse the two Shurikens, combining the attacks and making an even stronger attack.
"BLAZING SHURIKEN OF WATER!" Elias and Ruth yelled as their powerful attack started to destroy a huge amount of the skeletons, the fire and water mixing well and taking out the skeletons twice as fast.
Meanwhile, Chise and the Spell-Breaker were having a ferocious battle. The Spell-Breaker had Chise in a chokehold as Chise tried desperately to free herself. Chise eventually managed to free herself by using her Bright Flash to stun the Spell-Breaker, causing him to loosen his grip. Chise then elbowed him hard in the stomach and freed herself from his grasp. Chise then used her claw to try to slash at the Spell-Breaker's armor but he dodged her swing and grabbed ahold of her Dragon Hand. The Spell-Breaker then picked her up by her hand and then threw her to the side. Chise hit the ground hard as she rolled into a tree. Chise sat up and moved her head to the side just in time to avoid getting her head smashed into the tree by the Spell-Breaker's hand. The Spell-Breaker then found his hand stuck in the tree as he tried to pull away. Chise decided to help him by punching him hard in the stomach and then uppercutting him hard enough to launch him back. Chise then got up to her feet and started to slap the Spell-Breaker over and over with her Dragon Hand. After taking quite a few slaps, the Spell-Breaker grabbed ahold of Chise's hand and kept it still while he punched her in the face so hard, he broke her nose. Chise stumbled back a bit, holding her nose in pain as blood was dripping profusely. The Spell-Breaker grabbed Chise by the collar of her shirt and yanked her back to him. The Spell-Breaker then started tp punch Chise repeatedly in the face until Chise seemingly went unconscious. With Chise supposedly knocked out, The Spell-Breaker pulled out one of his knives and prepared to stab Chise in the center of her forehead. Right as the Spell-Breaker was about to stab Chise however, she sprung back to life and punched the Spell-Breaker in the face, causing him to stumble back and let go of Chise and his knife. Chise then shoved the Spell-Breaker to the ground and she pounced on top of him. Chise then started to punch the Spell-Breaker in the face. The Spell-Breaker took those strong punches as he reached for his discarded knife and grabbed it. The Spell-Breaker then stabbed Chise in her side as she hissed in pain. The Spell-Breaker then headbutted Chise in the face, knocking her off of him. The Spell-Breaker then jumped on top of Chise as he raised his knife in the air, ready to stab her. The Spell-Breaker brought the knife down on Chise but she was able to stop it by grabbing ahold of the Spell-Breaker's hands, struggling with all her might to prevent the knife from reaching her body. As they were both struggling against each other, Chise took her chance and kicked the Spell-Breaker in the crotch, making him lose his momentum as she managed to shove him off of her. Both Chise and the Spell-Breaker got back up to their feet as they started circling each other.
"You put up a really good fight you know. But you're still weak!" The Spell-Breaker said as he studied Chise's movements.
Chise was badly wounded and beaten. Her face was terribly bruised and bleeding tremendously. Chise's side was also bleeding badly from the knife wound she had just received, but she refused to give up.
"Shut... up!" Chise yelled as she lunged at the Spell-Breaker, aiming to punch him in the face.
The Spell-Breaker grabbed Chise's hand and used all of his strength to keep her hand away from him. The Spell-Breaker then used his other hand to try and stab Chise again, but Chise grabbed ahold of his hand, preventing him from stabbing her. Chise and the Spell-Breaker pushed and struggled as they tried to overpower each other. Then, in unison, both Chise and the Spell-Breaker smashed their heads into each other at the same time. They both stumbled back a bit from the shock. The Spell-Breaker shook himself back into reality as he pulled out his second knife and charged at Chise equipped with both of his knives. Chise dodged and weaved out of the way of every swipe from the Spell-Breaker's knives. Chise could see out of the corer of her eye that she was going to get backed into a tree, so this gave her an idea. Chise waited until her back was a mere inch away from the tree and then she jumped to the side, just as the Spell-Breaker plunged his knives straight into the tree. With his knives stuck in the tree, he was left wide open as Chise put him in a choke hold. Chise choked the Spell-Breaker as hard as she could with her Dragon Hand as he struggled to free himself. The Spell-Breaker then stomped hard on Chise's foot, causing her to lose her grip and allowing the Spell-Breaker to bash the back of his head into Chise's face. The Spell-Breaker turned around fast and kicked Chise in the stomach, knocking her to the ground. The Spell-Breaker then tried to get on top of Chise again, but this time she rolled out of the way and then got on her knee and rammed into him. The Spell-Breaker saved himself from falling as he backhanded Chise. Chise and the Spell-Breaker recovered as they stood back up. Chise and the Spell-Breaker started to throw punches at each other, neither side could land a blow.
Eventually the two managed to shove each other away. Then, Chise and the Spell-Breaker ran at each other and punched each other in the face at the same time. The Spell-Breaker recovered before Chise did so he took out a smoke bomb and threw it on the ground in front of Chise, surrounding her with smoke and giving him time to go and fetch his knives from the tree. Chise of course ran out of the smoke but by the time she did, she was instantly headbutted by the Spell-Breaker. As Chise stumbled back, the Spell-Breaker raised both of his knives in the air and brought them down on Chise. Chise did the only thing she could think of as she raised up her Dragon Hand, blocking the attack. Chise winced in pain as the blades went into her Dragon Hand. Chise then yanked her arm back, pulling the Spell-Breaker to her. The Spell-Breaker wasn't having it as he pulled his knives out of Chise's arm and then jumped back a bit as he put his knives away. Chise then swung her fist in an attempt to punch the Spell-Breaker, but he grabbed ahold of her forehand and using the momentum from her punch, swung her around and let go of her, making her stumble. With Chise's back facing him, the Spell-Breaker used his clawed gloves to slash at Chise's back. Chise yelled in pain as she felt the claws dig into her back. The Spell-Breaker then kicked her hard in the back, adding to the pain. Chise then turned around and grabbed ahold of the Spell-Breaker's arm and then using her strength, managed to throw him hard into a tree. The Spell-Breaker hit the tree so hard that the tree actually broke and fell over. Chise ran to the Spell-Breaker but he was back on his feet in a matter of seconds. The Spell-Breaker then started to slash at Chise, but she was blocking it with her arms. Chise took a few scratches before she weaved out of the way and punched the Spell-Breaker in the back of the head. The Spell-Breaker then tried to kick Chise but she dodged the attack and back away from him.
Chise then decided that she was fed up with the Spell-Breaker's game so she summoned her wand and fired a beam of magic at him. Not expecting this, the Spell-Breaker was hit by the beam and he fell to the ground, holding his chest in pain from the attack. The Spell-Breaker was mad so he pulled out his guns and fired at Chise.
"BARRIER!" Chise yelled as she formed a magical barrier around herself, shielding her from the bullets.
The Spell-Breaker knew that his guns weren't gonna solve this so he put them away and decided to use some of his magic. The Spell-Breaker held up his right hand and then his whole hand was surrounded by some sort of black and purple lightning. The Spell-Breaker charged at Chise and Chise blocked the punch by locking hands with the Spell-Breaker. The moment that Chise's Dragon Hand grabbed the Spell-Breaker's hand, she felt this immense pain and electricity flow into her body. The pain was extremely brutal and it only got worse the longer she held his hand. The Spell-Breaker then activated the lightning on his left hand and then punched Chise in the face with it. Chise was hit with an extreme jolt of pain as she was hit. The Spell-Breaker than started to repeatedly punch her over and over with his lightning. After a lot of punches, the Spell-Breaker put his fists together and landed a two-handed punch at Chise's stomach, sending her flying back. When Chise hit the ground, her whole body was overrun with the lighting as it shocked her whole body. As the Spell-Breaker walked up to her, Chise grabbed ahold of his leg and yanked him down to the ground with her. As she tried to get up, the Spell-Breaker kicked her in the face, giving him time to stand up before Chise could. The Spell-Breaker grabbed Chise by the hair and yanked her up. The Spell-Breaker than grabbed the top of Chise's head hard and said some sort of chant and then Chise felt as if the life was being drained out of her head. Once the spell was finished, The Spell-Breaker shoved her back down to the ground.
"There, that should keep you from having anymore of those visions. I can't be having you see important stuff that could stop me. You're welcome, Hatori!" The Spell-Breaker yelled as he pulled Chise up by her hair again.
The Spell-Breaker than punched her in the face and slammed her back down on the ground. As the Spell-Breaker went to pull Chise up again, she landed a punch to the gut. Chise didn't stop there as she got up and punched the Spell-Breaker in the stomach 5 more times before she punched the Spell-Breaker in the face. Chise then grabbed the Spell-Breaker by the sides of his mask and knee slammed him hard. Chise then yanked him up by the horns on his mask and punched him twice in the chest. Chise then punched the Spell-Breaker twice in the face before she ended her combo with one good powerful uppercut. Chise hit the Spell-Breaker so hard... that his mask flew off of his head.
Now, Chise would finally get to see his face. But then, the Spell-Breaker threw a smoke bomb right into Chise's face, temporarily blinding her and preventing her from seeing his face.
"NO! DAMN IT! NO!" Chise screamed as she desperately tried to clean her eyes from the smoke bomb.
"You fought well, Chise! But this isn't over!" The Spell-Breaker said as he grabbed his mask and put it back on his head and then used his grappling hook to get away from Chise.
"DAMN IT! COME BACK HERE YOU COWARD! GET BACK DOWN HERE AND FINISH THIS! GET DOWN HERE YOU COWARD!" Chise screamed as her vision finally returned to her.
"This isn't over, Chise! You've won this battle, but next we meet; I won't stop until you're dead!" The Spell-Breaker yelled to her from the top of the tree.
Chise gritted her teeth in anger as she prepared to fire a beam of magic at the Spell-Breaker, but before she could, a dagger was thrown at the back of her leg. Chise yelled in pain as she fell to her knees. Chise turned around and saw a group of skeletons approaching her. Chise stood back up and prepared to fight off the skeletons.
"Ruth, I'm leaving to aid Chise, prepare to leave, once I get Chise, we are going back home!" Elias said.
"Got it! Go! Go get her!" Ruth yelled as Elias ran off to Chise's aid.
Ruth knew that he could no longer keep using his Blazing Fusion form so he deactivated it and went back to his dog form. Ruth kept the skeletons busy by burning them with his fire. Soon, they would be safe at home. Elias bashed his way through as many skeletons as he could until he finally reached Chise. Chise was struggling to even hold her wand up as she was so badly beaten and bruised and terribly weak. Right as she was about to get stabbed, Elias jumped in and saved her. Elias wiped out all of the surrounding skeletons with his magic and then tended to Chise as he sat her up in his arms.
"Chise, are you alright?" Elias asked as he held Chise in his arms.
"Elias..." Chise weakly said as she looked up at him.
"We are leaving now." Elias said as he picked Chise up and carried her.
Right before Elias was going to make a run for it, he remembered about the ingredients that they had come here to get. But before Elias could go back for the ingredients, he was shot in the back of his arm by the Spell-Breaker. Elias roared in pain as he turned to look up at the Spell-Breaker. Elias growled but he knew that fighting anymore was pointless. Elias ran with Chise in his arms, pushing through every skeleton that stood in his way until he made it back to where Ruth was. Elias ran right past Ruth and Ruth took this as his cue to follow him. When all three of them were far enough away, Elias gently let Chise down and then took out his wand.
"Everyone, hold on!" Elias yelled as he raised his wand in the air and then they were teleported away from the Forest of Thorns.
The skeletons stopped moving and just looked around in confusion as they didn't know what to do next. The Spell-Breaker jumped down from the tree and walked up to the front of the army and laughed.
"(Evil Chuckle) Yes, go home; you'll be safe there! Tough luck, Chise Hatori!" The Spell-Breaker yelled as he laughed and laughed.
Finally, Elias, Chise and Ruth were back at home. They had teleported right in front of a tree outside the house as they took a moment to rest. Elias sat down and panted heavily as he was exhausted. Chise sat down next to Elias as she leaned against him. Ruth had morphed back into his human form and fell on the ground in front of Elias and Chise. Silky and Joseph ran out of the house and raced to their aid. Elias helped Chise up to her feet as he stood up after her. Ruth leaned against the tree that Elias and Chise were just at as he took a breath of fresh air. As Chise walked over to Silky and Joseph, she fell forward, but Elias caught her and let her fall gently into his arms.
"Don't push yourself, Chise. It's alright now." Elias said as he comforted her.
"Elias... Ruth... Silky... Joseph... I'm so sorry." Chise said as she saw how badly hurt and scarred everybody was from the fight. "It's all my fault." Chise said as she felt tears begin to form in her eyes.
"Chise, it's not your fault." Elias said.
"Yeah, you didn't do anything to us." Joseph said.
"But, if I hadn't done whatever I did to the Spell-Breaker, none of this would have happened." Chise said.
"Hey, don't let his lies get to you, Chise. You did nothing!" Ruth said.
"I'm so sorry!" Chise said.
"Chise, it's okay. We are here." Elias said.
"It is over now." Silky said as she wiped a tear away from Chise's face.
"We're home now." Elias said.
"Yeah! We did it! We showed those punks who was boss! We totally kicked their a-!" Ruth said before Cartaphilus came out of nowhere and snapped Ruth's neck, killing him instantly.
"RUTH! NOOOOOOO!" Chise screamed as she watched Ruth's dead body fall to the floor.
Ruth was dead.
