JANUARY 26,2023 PSA: Hello! Happy new year! It's been a few years but I'm finally a lot better mentally and way more organized than I used to. I will be picking this story back up starting with revamping all the current chapters that are posted. Because I want a clean slate, all the memos and extra notes will be removed from all the current chapters unless they are necessary. I will be archiving everything as it is so that way I at least have record of what everything used to be. For every chapter that is reuploaded and refreshed, I will be putting "REVAMPED" at the top until all the current chapters have been updated. Once the chapters are all up to date, I will be removing the tag and this PSA. All this will be leading up to the new chapter which I plan to launch on February 17th, 2023. If you would like more information, or just want to follow my journey as an author for the Inuyasha fandom, feel free to follow my blog at the link below. It's completely free. :) - Just remove the spaces from the link because FF doesn't like hyperlinks lmao.

Also, To those who have read everything up to now, I apologize for the amount of typos, grammar errors, and misunderstandings you had to read through. I promise the rewritten chapters will be a much smoother journey.

revamped chapter 1

"Kagome, Honey, are you sure this is the place?" Her mother asked in confusion as she stuck her head out of the window to get a better glimpse of the high-rise building.

"The building looks completely see through with all that glass! What if some pervert spies tries to spy on you?!"

'Ew! Who would wanna look at Kagome naked! She's not even cute-OUCH!" Her brother Souta flinched aloud as the back of his older sister's hand came across the back of his head.

"Watch your mouth brat!" Kagome said, her teeth pressed tightly together.

"Cut it out you two!"

"It's not my fault she's a negative 12 out of 10-AH-stop hitting me! Mom tell her to stop!

"If you both don't stop right now, there will not be a summer trip next year, do you understand me?!" Her stern voice echoed through the car.

Her children immediately went back to their original positions. Souta continued to look around for parking while Kagome went back to searching through her belongings.

While the fight simmered out just as quickly as it had started, her mom just couldn't shake the feeling she had about leaving her daughter behind. She turned around to look at Kagome in the back seat before focusing back on the lot traffic in front of her. With a sad pout, she sighed, "I don't like this."

Kagome hardly paid her mom any attention as she rumbled through her closet of a purse searching for her phone. She only gave her mom a small snippet of eye contact before she practically buried her face into her bag looking for her prized possession.

"Mom, this is the place. I'm sure of it. I'm also sure the glass is probably just for design and the rooms will have curtains-hah! Yes! Found it!" She celebrated, snatching her phone out from underneath her portable umbrella.

Kagome's words didn't satisfy her mother one bit but all she could do was mumble a low groan in her throat as she turned into the already crowded parking lot. It was the first move-in day on campus, so it surprised her mother to see so many people not waiting until the last minute.

"Hey mom, there's a parking space right there. The lady is pulling out." Souta said, pointing from the passenger seat.

She saw the spot and slowly approached, giving the lady room to get out without hitting someone. After the lady was finally made her exit, the Higurashi family parked themselves in. Kagome was the first to jump out the car with her purse strapped around her and phone in hand. Next was Souta who was a little slower as he used his hand as a visor for the sun. Kagome's mother remained in the car for a moment. She took the time to stare into her rear-view mirror at her children.

Kagome had already gotten so tall. She stood at a whopping 5'7 while her brother was slightly shorter. She placed her hand on her cheek flustered at how time seemed to fly by. To her, it felt like yesterday, Kagome had been crying because she didn't want mommy to leave her at pre-k, and here she was now ready to be all on her own.

Her eyes flooded at the thought of it, but she quickly brushed the tears out and exited the car not wanting her daughter to think something was wrong. Souta grabbed ahold of Kagome's large suitcases while Kagome had two duffle bags thrown over one shoulder with a smaller suitcase in her other hand. She looked to her mom.

"Hey mom, I only have a few more small bags. Can you grab those for me please?"

She smiled for a second at Kagome's words. "Of course, Kagome."

They were able to haul everything inside and into the spacious elevator. Luckily, they had just missed an elevator so the next one was able to offer more room for all of Kagome's belongings. The tall building held a whopping 24 floors making it the tallest dormitory on campus. Kagome had found out just weeks prior that she was assigned to this building on floor 19. She was immediately overwhelmed with joy that she would have a dorm with a view to look out to every morning.

Unlike other students on campus, Kagome wasn't too picky with whom she selected as dorm mates. The only thing she requested was that whoever she was paired with was clean and friendly. Kagome thought regardless of gender that it was important for everyone to have good hygiene, manners, and cleaning habits.

The elevator was pretty quick for the number of floors it had to surpass. In the next 30 seconds, they had arrived at their destination. Kagome pressed the elevator hold button to allow Souta some time to offload everything. Once she was sure nothing was left behind, she searched around for room 19C. The long corridors were causing sweat droplets to form on Souta's forehead as the exhaustion from carrying all the bags took over.

Kagome found her room at the furthest end of one of the halls. She could tell by the spacing of the rooms that these dorms had to be a decent size compared to other dorm arrangements. She let go of her suitcase and reached inside her pocket for the key. She snatched it out and forced it inside the keyhole. Throwing the door open, she grabbed her suitcase and ran inside squealing as her family followed behind her.

"Oh my goodness!" Souta heaved as he dropped all of Kagome's suitcases and dropped to the floor.

"What are you carrying woman?! A quarter of ocean water? Why are those bags so heavy?!"

She rolled her eyes but couldn't bother to take the smile off of her face. Soon her cheeks became rosy-red from all the strain smiling from ear to ear was doing to her. She whipped around and looked at her mother who was spending her time surveying the kitchen.

"Mom..I really did it! I'm here! " She ran towards her mom and hugged her tightly.

Her mom let out as gasp for air before returning the hug. "I know sweetie. Trust me I know and I never doubted for a second that you'd end up anywhere but where you wanted to go."

"Don't say that! Its gonna make me miss you more when you leave." She said into her mom's neck as her voice began to crack.

Her mother embraced her finally realizing the situation that was going on. "Oh Kagome…you're always going to be my little girl aren't you." She rubbed her back and closed her eyes letting the moment sink in. This would be the first time Kagome was ever away for more than one month at a time. As a parent, she thought she'd be ready for this day but this hug she wasn't prepared to let go of was proved her just how wrong she was.

After a few moments went by, both women were crying their eyes out and Souta sat down on a nearby couch folding his lips together while trying to keep himself preoccupied. This was hard on him too, but his mother would have none of his tough act today.

"Souta, come…come hug your sister because we gotta go soon." She knew it was only a matter of time before more people came flooding in.

Souta's arms wrapped around Kagome's shoulders as he shielded his face from view.

"Be good sis…we're gonna miss you…well, not all the time you took in the bathroom but most of you-OW!" He yelled from the pinch he felt to his side.

"Don't start with me again brat." Kagome chuckled playfully this time around.

Kagome heaved heavily. "I know…I'm going to miss you guys too, but I'll call you every week." She pulled back from her mom a bit. "I promise."

With one last tear in her eye, her mother nodded. "I love you Kagome. Don't you ever hesitate to call me every day if you need to."

And this was the start of Kagome's journey. Little did she know the road she was about to face.

PLEASE READ THIS

So, for me I don't like spoilers. Listing trigger warnings is great and helpful, but I'm not a fan of putting them in the chapters in which they occur in. I prefer to let the readers know what they could possibly see ahead of time so they can make the informed decision on whether they want to proceed or not. I like the element of surprise and would like my readers to feel that as well as long as they're okay with that. There is a lot of cussing and there will be mature scenes later on so I would consider this entire story NSFW so please continue on at your own risk. Please read the following trigger warnings.
