Ambrosia Chapter 11: Cape Jasmine

Cape Jasmine &-common symbolism: emotional support, healing, sweet love, and exhilarating emotions.

Another long Fluffy-chapter update because why not? Kamui's friends correctly guess why he's been so busy over the weekend and visibly brighter coming to school. Lots of support and love for these two as a couple. And of course their first "official" date as a couple ❤️

Morning

Early mornings were usually just fine for Kamui. He had what his friends dubbed his "housewife routine", which Kamui practically growled at them for. This reaction was especially venomous when such things were said with Subaru close by.

The recent development with Subaru was bound to get out, if not through words, then through Kamui's actions. Keeping a soft smile off his face felt impossible this past weekend.

Now though, Kamui hadn't woken up as he usually did. He ended up staying up late than usual, helping read up on new cases Subaru had been assigned. He had a lot of responsibilities, so Kamui was happy to assist even if it was reading aloud to give his beloved's eyes a little rest.

Kamui hadn't been as responsive as usual to his friends and their inquiries, which further added to their suspicions. Spending the days mostly just cuddling, kissing, and watching movies together kept him occupied. Those quiet moments holding each other or talking over something trivial were cathartic. Love had a way of distracting the sleepy student.

It would be embarrassing seeing his friends again at school. Although recent changes in his life may have made Kamui really happy. Almost too happy. Enough to put worries over embarrassment nearly to rest. After all, somewhere along the way he and Subaru had fallen for each other. It actually felt like they had time to breathe and enjoy just being together.

Seeing his friends knowing reactions would still not be the most pleasant. A part of Kamui really loved the idea of being able to say they were actually together. Though with dread, Kamui would be admitting they had been right. It seemed everyone else recognized Kamui's growing feelings before he could.

This morning, pleasant dreams, on the romantic side, flow through Kamui's mind. This was a nice break from the younger male's far more embarrassing fantasies he'd have to rush out of bed from. Soft plush lips curled up in a cat-like smile as he slept.

Kamui's dream self melted with the bliss of being held lovingly on a warm summer's day. Images of a secluded park where they could cuddle up and be together overwhelmed his senses. Pleased, happy sighs escaped.

"Kamui…" Fingers stroked rising smiling cheekbones. Subaru woke up only moments earlier, peacefully watching his love. Seldom did this happen, but it was a nice change to see. A sleepy Kamui was absolutely adorable to smitten gold and emerald eyes. Part of him wanted to keep admiring that sleepy face a bit more.

"Kamui," He tries again, this time gently grasping a shoulder and squeezing. The petite male, only snuggled up further at the touch. Once again, his love unconsciously challenged his self-control. It becomes a struggle to actually think of waking Kamui and not selfishly keeping the world's "chosen one" all to himself.

"Y-your alarm went off, you have to get up for school," Subaru says the words with reluctance. He gently shook his beloved's small shoulder.

A quiet, "Hmph," emitted from Kamui's mouth. The cuddly male nuzzled his face deeper against the warm chest before him. His beloved gasped, feeling such a cute button-nose and plush lips pressing close to the cloth over his chest. This action left Subaru having to mentally list reasons he should get Kamui out of bed.

Skipping a day to spend the day in bed was quite tempting. Yet, he knew Kamui wouldn't want to miss days unnecessarily, school being stability for him.

"Kamui!" Subaru's voice raised just a bit. He appeared to stir but didn't quite open his eyes. The sleepy student pulled the comforter up and over his head, snuggling underneath it.

Subaru chuckled softly at the antic. Though it wouldn't be a lie to say he didn't quite enjoy Kamui cuddling up to him as he did so.

"Kamui, you really need to wake up," Subaru tries again, louder. The older man delves under the covers. Soothingly but with pressure, skilled hands massage Kamui's neck and shoulder.

Kamui huffs from his sleep, attempting to wiggle further down the bed, curled up like a kitten.

"Kamui, if you don't wake up now then...I'll just have to…" Subaru doesn't finish. His hand cups the boy's cheeks and kisses that wry smile firmly.

Violet-blue eyes start to flutter open after a while. The pleasant dream was feeling increasingly warmer, a bit too real. Stirring gently, he found his lips claimed and flushed.

"Mnn," Kamui mewls into the kiss. Before he can properly kiss back, sweet lips retreat.

"Subaru?" Kamui yawns. Kisses pepper all across his face again. His love's lips are so soft yet fleeting. Kamui doesn't have the chance to return the affectionate favor before that warmth pulls away far too soon.

"Hm," Subaru begins, finger pressing upon the puckering lips.

Kamui huffs feeling that same finger tracing all across his mouth. His lips fall to a sullen expression. "Mnnnnn." He grumbles a series of sounds and grunts.

"You have to get up first," Subaru answers the unspoken question, holding back a laugh.

Kamui clutches the comforter in his hand and over his head. He mutters a string of grumpy noises and groans.

"Kamui…" Subaru calls with a sigh. He pets the sleepy figure balled up under the blankets.

"You're usually one to get up early," He comments. Worry laced in soft emerald eyes. Tenderly, he coos, "Were you not able to sleep, my love?" The latter words are hushed out with emphasis. Lips speak intimately close to Kamui's blanket-covered head.

From the crumbled blankets comes a little squeak. Subaru knows Kamui would deny ever doing so, but it was there. Gentle lips curled up, seeing the blanket shift just a bit. Cherry-red cheeks and sleepy yet tender eyes peeked out just a bit.

"N-no…it's not that," Kamui stutters, looking out a little more red by the second. Geez, Subaru was the one who kept caressing him,

Subaru shakes his sleep-tousled head. A fond little smirk, plotting on something spreads to his lips.

"No nightmares?" Subaru asks carefully. Guilt makes his face fall at the notion he somehow slept through them. Kamui had always been loud and active during certain dreams.

Kamui shakes his head under the covers. "Not at all like that," he quietly recalls. There's a curiosity formed where a small opening between the clump of blankets forms. Part of the tired student's exposed expression began flaring up, from his cheeks to right under his eyes.

Subaru raised an eyebrow at that, but let it slide. "I'm glad then." Subaru hums out lovingly.

"Subaru…" Kamui peers out further. His violet-blue orbs dilate and brighten seeing a private beaming smile just for him.

"I guess there's no helping it," Subaru succumbs to mock defeat, barely sitting up.

Kamui's eyes widened at that. "You're going…?" Came the question with the pain and sadness of a kitten stuck in the rain.

"I'm not leaving you," Subaru assures. Kamui doesn't feel a weight leaving from the mattress. Soft relief eases the lines on Kamui's features.

"But, Subaru wh-!? Ahhh!" Kamui cries out. His sense of gravity is stolen. In one fell swoop, Subaru gracefully tucks his hands under where he believes Kamui's lower back and knees can be. Instinctively, Kamui's arms reach out to grasp for something. Comforter and all, Kamui is lifted, bridal style, by the one he loves.

"I..." Kamui's gaze turns away. He knows he is flushing red. "I would have gotten up…" He pouts a little, but still wraps his arms snuggly around the broad shoulders. His flushed faced buries itself into his love's chest.

Subaru softly laughs. "Well, you weren't quite able to get up, so I thought I'd offer my assistance." The way he was able to say words like that so easily was mildly infuriating.

Kamui probably seemed like a little kid in comparison, kicking his legs out and hiding under the blankets."I-I really shouldn't be troubling you like this…" He mumbles a soft apology and buries his face into the other's neck.

"It's no trouble at all," Subaru smiles. He presses a languid kiss on Kamui's forehead. "If anything, I quite like seeing this side of you." A kiss is teasingly placed at the corner of Kamui's mouth. Those same lips curl up to a small pout at the tease.

There's a bit of a rush as Subaru gradually pulls away, being able to better study his beautiful beloved. Gold and emerald eyes heat up seeing the younger male's eyes flutter close and lips slightly puckered. Subaru's heart speeds up at the expectant face, violet-blue eyes peering out curious as to why there was still any bit of distance between them.

"I love you, Kamui," Subaru seals the lovesick words with a firm, more languid kiss. This time Kamui is quick to return the touch. His hand moves up to cradle the back of Subaru's head, pulling him in closer.

Time and responsibilities came to a momentary halt. Two pairs of lips meld and move slowly. Kamui tilts his head to the side, feeling the soft press at his mouth from a new angle. The younger lover melds their lips together. Plush lips caress their beloved more firmly.

The room voids from sounds beyond soft breaths and gentle lips smacking. Love-pressed lips part only to pull back. They stray further and further from rather innocent kisses from before but somehow catch themselves right before things get too heated. Countless, chaste kisses to follow up.

"I love you, Subaru," Kamui returns, eyes watery and glowing. Somewhere along the way, his blanket started slipping from his hold. The feeling of more skin-on-skin contact sends a rush through the tired male's head.

Subaru kisses Kamui right after. Lips press chaste yet sweetly to the one he loves. A kiss brushes against heated cheeks, the tip of his nose, eyelids, and back to claim soft lips again.

Kamui hums into the kiss, reactive and more responsive than ever this morning. The need to take things to a bit of a more passionate level is still there. Though the cute way Kamui repeats the kisses just bestowed on him is a nice distraction. The neck nuzzling was certainly becoming a favorite.

"You seem to be in good spirits," Subaru gently chides. The older man's voice always comes out so easily fond of his love. At the least, it certainly sounds that way, to Kamui's ears.

"I….think I…" The rest comes as a blur. A string of hushed and mumbled words breathe against Subaru's neck.

"What was that?" Subaru asks politely but having some inkling.

Kamui doesn't look up, only buries himself further into the juncture between his neck and shoulder. "I said… I think... I don't mind you waking me up like that." He clarifies, softer and softer by the word.

Subaru feels his heart melt. Gold and emerald attempt to fuse within elegant violet-blue orbs. As though pulled towards another, Subaru leans down the same moment Kamui looks back up. Their lips press together for several more sweet kisses.

It's all too easy to fall into this warm abyss. Something feels all too right, fated even as they connect over and over again.

Briiiiiing.

Only the sound of a backup phone alarm manages to break them out of the little world they've created.

Subaru sulks, glaring at the vibrating phone buried amongst the sheets. Kamui quietly laughs at this. He presses butterfly soft kisses upon the corner of that pouting mouth.

Briiiiiiing. Briiiiiing.

The alarm sounds off again, more obnoxious than before.

Kamui scrunched his nose. He presses a few sweet kisses upon Subaru's cheeks and twice on the lips.

With reluctance, they deem it time to part, temporarily, of course. Kamui groans into the taller male's neck, hiding away. His beloved softly chuckles, kissing the crown of his head.

Kamui is gracefully lowered back onto his feet. His legs wobble a bit, the need to be supporting his own weight was forgotten for the past few moments. The fluffy comforter once wrapped around him falls to the floor.

The delayed student goes back to their bed and crawls up towards the pillow. Nimble fingers grasp for the phone pressing a red button on the side to turn the irritating beeps off.

"I guess I didn't need to wake you up myself," Subaru says absently, eyes dart to the phone in his love's hand.

Kamui's lips push out, a bit frustrated at the prospect of only being awoken by the alarm and not his… were they boyfriends now?

They did love each other. Live together. Share a bed. They had even looked into the other's hearts and deepest pains. Was there a word strong enough to describe their relationship?

"It's… better when it's you," Kamui grumbles out, a bit huffy his Subaru was teasing him like that. Though strangely Subaru teasing him felt quite different than with others. It didn't feel all that bad...though it made his everything burn up.

Subaru's more eased, this playful side was never something Kamui could expect to come out, let alone be this weak for.

There's a moment before prior words fully click in his head. Subaru's lips are curled to a hopeless smile. He crawls up onto the bed, right beside Kamui. The sudden movement gives him enough time to press Kamui's hands against the pillow and steal a soft kiss.

It's way too hard to be anything but blissful when Kamui feels his lips claimed. The presses are chaste but a little bit firmer and longer than the next.

It's all too easy to go further and further. Kamui knows he'd never regret it. Even if things only continued right here and now. Although, there was something nice of taking things step by step with all their firsts. There was school and work ahead of them...They would have time soon to be close again, their first date fast approaching.

Speaking of which. "So I take it we're still on for Friday?" Subaru says as though reading his mind.

Violet-blue eyes lock onto their love yes fondly and all too amused. There was something so precious with the way those words slipped out. So cute…

This side of Subaru felt so much lighter. Their lips pressed again. Kamui never thought he'd see a flirtatious gleam in his Subaru's eyes. But it was there, making gold and emerald shine.

"Of course, " Kamui says as though it's the simplest thing in the world. The simplest thing that had his heart racing. He had the day off of school to spend with his Subaru. "So long as you won't be too busy?"

The expected sweet words don't follow. A playful little, "We'll, I suppose there is a chance of being occupied because…" He trails off. Subaru's voice light and airy.

"Because?" Kamui huffs a little bit irked by the response, even if he instigated it. Subaru always said sweet, reassuring things. Things that made his heartbeat unfairly so. His eyebrows lower along with his lips. The latter are sweetly loved for several tender heartbeats.

"You see I have one particular 'client' I've been wanting to impress for some time now," Subaru whispers, nuzzling his head within the crook of Kamui's neck.

"He's stolen my heart completely," Subaru hushes, tone a little sensual as a tender kiss is pressed on Kamui's shoulder blade. Kamui's breath hitches, catching on to what Subaru was insinuating rather quickly.

"Making a good impression is important. Especially with someone, I adore this much."

"I-I think it's safe to say you've done that," Kamui stumbles at first. He plays along, the best he can, but his breathing keeps cutting off with all the fleeting kisses trailing upon his sensitive skin. It's a little tricky to think with an affectionate Subaru loving on him.

"Honestly, I'm just hoping to woo him as much as I possibly can," Subaru gently hums the soft sensual connotation. "To win over his heart over and over again."

Kamui flushes, still feeling rather pleased by the response. He hugs his protector close to beside him and feels his stomach doing backflips.

"Maybe if things go well I can bring him back home," Subaru goes on with a light teasing gesture. His expression blooms red, his insinuation sinks in. "I-I mean to spend more time with them, well you..."

"I have a feeling that will definitely happen…" Kamui lightly snorts at that, followed by a breathy laugh that leaves the older male speechless. Realization dawns after a moment on what bringing one home could imply. His cheeks paint pink at the more suggestive connotation, but still, it's Subaru. It's way too hard not to adore the sweet overtones in his words.

"But is-is there… anything you want...to happen?" Kamui curiously asks, lips trembling a bit. Of course, he understands the teasing nature of their conversation. He knows Subaru wouldn't push anything on him. Still, though, it was his Subaru, and he wanted to see his beloved happy. The thought of his Subaru possibly having to hold back did bring some guilt. Kamui turns his head away and swallows.

Subaru pauses and presses a finger to the side of his cheek. He takes a moment to process Kamui's words and worries. The man's throbbing chest aches to see violet-blue eyes lower with guilt. He turns red realizing the heart of the question and shakes his head.

Kamui's nervousness makes sense. Subaru rests their foreheads together.

"All I want is to be with you," Subaru answers, breaking the teasing mood they had fallen into. "To savor each and every experience beside you."

"Subaru…" Kamui whimpers, feeling his body being scooped up into a loving embrace. He swallows harder, mouth dry. There's an alluring gaze in those dual-toned eyes.

"I do admit… One day… and there's no time restraint," Subaru clarifies quickly, easing the worry lines on his beloved's forehead.

"I'm incredibly happy just being beside you. To have you here…" He proceeds, face glowing and reddening quite deeply. The affectionate man gathers his thoughts.

"Subaru..." Kamui murmurs.

"But one day, when the time is right…" Subaru's words pour out sensually. There's a fire amongst the white lights reflecting in his eyes. "I do hope I'll have the chance to make you mine," Subaru speaks the words honestly, heart exposed for Kamui to do what he pleases with it. There's no added pressure just the desire to let Kamui know, he was very much desired, if and when the time is right.

Kamui squirms under the intense gaze upon him. It's entirely boiling in their bedroom. The overheated male had a feeling, being in love that desire was there and wasn't just a one-sided fantasy on Kamui's part. Hearing it confirmed directly like this was another matter entirely.

Subaru did want him. In time… They'd definitely…

Kamui rapidly shakes his head, hoping to rid heated thoughts away. Colors bloom vividly on cheeks struggling not to shift with a hopeless smile.

"I think I know what you mean by that… B-but even though we haven't…" Yet...

Kamui wishes he could turn his head a bit more. The hands beside his head keep pinning him close. Kamui would hide his burning face in the pillow if possible.

Subaru is listening attentively, waiting for the follow-up.

"I'm already yours," Kamui professes, sweetly and smiles shyly. It's entirely embarrassing and exposing to say something like that. Yet, the enraptured smile and tight embrace that follows makes it worth it.

"My Kamui," Subaru calls so softly and endearing. He whispers. Soft words of love into Kamui's ear before leaning up. Their eyes lock. "I promise, I'll do everything I possibly can to make you happy." Kamui's hands are taken captive one by one. Languid kisses press all along the inside of Kamui's hand.

Kamui flushes a deeper red. It's all too hard to look away for more than a few seconds." I want to… " He professes, meekly, briefly turning away and back again. "M-make you happy too…"

Gold and emerald eyes widen and expand at the insinuation. Pupils dilate taking those words in. "You already do," Subaru adds quickly before pressing countless kisses upon Kamui's cheeks and lips.

By some miracle, Kamui would make it to school on time. Though it certainly was a close call.

News

Bombarded with texts about 'what had happened?' flooded Kamui's phone. His friends, mainly Yuzuriha and Karen, were entirely curious how things went over the weekend.

To be fair, he had been mostly silent since coming home from the festival. To have his feelings fully returned, to be held and kissed like that without the fear of loss right after, was a dream. It seemed far too good to be true.

Subaru spent so much of his own life in pain, longing for the one he loves to come back in his life, even if it's just to kill him. Kamui had loved only to lose over and over again. Being tormented by his late love brought on issues for Kamui and twisting pain with pleasure. Love was tied that twisted pain when it had been with the other Kamui, at least the only love he could receive at the time.

Falling in and succumbing to this new feeling of love, had been a whirlwind. Kamui could let himself be held, loved, and not be forced to watch them slip away in front of him. With so many changes, Kamui had a late start to his day.

As Kamui rushes towards his campus, his phone is again overloaded with new notification sounds and vibrations. Recollections from this morning overload his senses.

'Are you seriously ditching school? Not even answering your texts to make out with your boyfriend :O?' The first text read. Yuzuriha had messaged.

Kamui flushed wildly, eyes glued to his screen, still in bed and very much in an amorous hold. Subaru had looked at him skeptically but gave the younger man some space and time to reply to the overly-active phone.

Her words weren't true. Not entirely. Though spending the morning tangled up in bed cuddling and exchanging feather-light kisses definitely wasn't something he could admit to. Then there would be confirmation to what everyone assumed had been going on for months. Countless follow-up questions would ensue.

Kamui just needed to get to school.

"I-ah… n-need to get d-dressed for school.," Kamui abashedly replied to his beloved's curious gaze.

"Oh, right," Subaru confirmed, eyes going a little less foggy than before. Some of the disappointment felt did slip through his tone. It was quickly masked with a more understanding smile. He fully sat up and pat Kamui on the head.

"I'll let you get to that…" Subaru had reddened giving his love the privacy of the room. He cleared his throat. "I'll see you downstairs."

Memories continued to fog the student's brain as he rushed across campus. Kamui caught his breath, holding onto the door frame to his classroom. Violet-eyes eased, relieved to see the time. There were still a few minutes left.

Their teacher wasn't here yet, so he could easily sneak back into his usual seat. Bypassing the stares and rumors about him and his 'date', Kamui takes a seat near the back beside the window.

Rumors were rumors. They'd certainly spread whether or not there was evidence. This time it wasn't so bad. Being considered a "good match" for his current boyfriend? was rather nice.

Kamui makes a mental note to possibly confirm they were boyfriends now. They were quite committed. Subaru by some miracle loved him, so it seemed right.

And well there was the matter of him being able to tell his friends (really just confirm their suspicions) they had finally gotten together. It was bound to come out. It didn't help that Kamui couldn't refrain from staring off and touching all across his loved-up lips.

Their kisses were still so innocent. How could it possibly make Kamui's heart race as though they were doing something far more intimate? What would even be like as they continued to go forward, step by step?

Violet-blue eyes stare off out the window. He scans over the rustling winds moving the trees. Kamui let's put a soft breath, losing the battle to fight the lovesick curl on his lips. They would have their first date.

Special

Going out today involved a trip to Kyoto. Unfortunately, even the fastest bullet train still took over two hours to reach the destination.

The time to travel never bothered Subaru before. Though the further destinations meant he'd have to leave home earlier and earlier.

Today matched well with Kamui's schedule. They left around the same time. Starting early was tiring but it was quite preferable to missing dinner and post-meal cuddles.

Subaru's gentle rose-pink lips curled up, memories pleasantly flooded his mind. His Kamui was way too cute. The little box of bento his love left in the fridge could attest to that. All of it made lovingly the night before, with a handful of distractions thanks to Subaru.

The homemade bento was neatly wrapped up in a white tote bag with gold cross symbols printed throughout. Kamui picking it out making it an absolute treasure. A nice little bow tied at the top of the box gave it even more of a personalized feeling. Made with love.

It was almost too perfect to eat, but if and when he had a small break between jobs, it would provide much-needed nourishment.

Fingers played idly with the ribbon over the box. Kamui… Subaru's mind was already flooded with the younger man. Lately, those still innocent kisses seemed to have become a wonderful and regular notion between them.

Kamui had been receptive. The feeling of Kamui's arms and legs wrapping around him had been only in fantasies. Hearing those words of reciprocated love, and feeling that closeness was a reality now.

Subaru lost himself in blissful fantasies. He would take Kamui out on their first date, and if that went well many many more. If it didn't go well somehow, he still hoped they could go on many many more until they were successful.

So they had their date planned. Now, there was still the question of whether or not they needed to vocalize or confirm their relationship status.

Even if it was 'only' their first "official" date, Subaru felt it natural for them to be committed. Kamui was it for him. He felt that devotion deeply from Kamui. His sweet, cute, beautiful, shy, and incredible boyfriend, Kamui.

A bit too lost in his world, Subaru exited the bullet train with a dreamy expression. He held the lunch Kamui prepared against his chest like a treasure. He came out of the station.

"How sweet," An older feminine voice called out softly.

The words break the love-sick man from his trance, shaking his head. Subaru looked back and reddened. What was that?

"I'm sorry," Subaru apologized, bowing his head politely, looking at the smiling older lady. Long white hair, short and stout and beaming with a natural kindness. She had to be even older than his grandmother, and he imagined less strict. "I was a bit preoccupied, did you need something?"

The older lady held a hand to her mouth. "Oh no," She waved her hand down. "I think it's sweet to see someone so young and in love."

"What?..." Subaru blinked. He looked over her skeptically. She pointed towards the bento he was still cradling and laughed. Subaru's cheeks bloomed with pink.

"That bento there, your spouse must have made it for you," She assumes, eyes certain and firm on this.

Subaru shook his head. Kamui would be rambling on about this if he knew. "Ah, not quite…" Mistaken gender aside, having a future, with his (hopefully future) spouse making bento for him, made his stomach release dozens of butterflies. "But yes, someone very important," Subaru did confirm.

The old lady smiled. "Oh, well whoever they are, I can tell you have a meal made with love," She had a knowing gleam, one that reminded Subaru of his own grandmother.

"Make sure to cherish that person then," She continued with a soft gleam in her eyes. "There's nothing more important in this world than love after all."

Subaru's heart raced at the words. He couldn't agree more. Images of his beautiful love waiting at home for him. There was nothing he wanted to do more. His heartbeat was pounding in his ears. There was a feeling of being seen through. Figuring it better than blurting out something sappy or foolish, he nodded and took a quick leave.

She seemed to have an uncanny ability to read others. Much Like the way his grandma (correctly) guessed his devotion towards Kamui was far more than some brotherly connection or mentorship.

When Subaru finally went to see his grandmother again. Kamui was (unknowingly) all but welcomed into the Sumeragi family. She expressed sincere interest in having Kamui come visit next time.

Her approval of his new love could only go up from the last. It wasn't hard to find many his grandmother held disdain for than his first love. Honestly, with valid reasoning. Still, he hoped she would be able to see just how incredible his love had been. Not just as someone being a healthier partner for her grandson, but as an incredible person altogether.

Perhaps, the world's savior was the only one capable of allowing him to feel again. Kamui was and always would be special.

Notes of Love

Distractions were grateful upon campus. This went tenfold when it took the attention off of himself.

Kamui was able to avoid unwanted and unneeded questions and attention this way.

Lady Kendappa, as she had been dubbed by CLAMP's music department, sat in the central garden area. Her fingers moved elegantly up and down the pristine golden-harp. Surrounding her were several university students. Some were standing and working on their vocals, and others were occasionally assisted with instructions and cues for holding their instruments.

She was certainly popular amongst all the students. Although the female fanbase was much more prominent. Part of her popularity was surely due to her own elegance, grace, and talent. However, her well-known relationship and engagement with Souma brought out quite a lot of admiration and popularity. The latter woman was incredibly skilled in martial arts and helped out greatly with various athletic departments and self-defense classes. The two women had become quite a popular couple on campus.

"Ah! Lady Kendappa!~" A flushed fangirl chirped amongst the crowd of other love-struck and star-struck students.

Kamui rolled his eyes, hearing a squeal of fangirls erupt. The sound only increased once the harpists beloved came out to greet her beloved as a break came between songs. There was a natural connection between the women, gentle understanding smiles, and glimmering eyes that only seemed to know each other.

They whispered something. Souma remained calm and simply beamed looking over at her beloved's fan club. Kamui idly wondered how one could get used to their loved one getting quite that much attention.

Maybe he was thinking childishly. There is a feeling of security and devotion between the two women. Regardless of the outside attention. They only see each other.

Perhaps worries got easier with time. And insecurities at that.

Subaru loves me, and I know that. Kamui caught his mind wandering. But he's spent so much of his life devoted to those two people… Am I really enough to make him feel happy?

The insecure boy's head tangles into a web of worries. Surely, he'd done the same, holding Kotori and Fuuma up above all else. No-one else was supposed to stir his heart as they had done. Yet, it happened anyway.

Even from their first meeting...Kamui knew the other would become someone precious. Leave it to the gifted Onmyouji to enter his consciousness, and quickly make an irreplaceable place in Kamui's heart.

The preoccupied student listens absently, to the melody that continues from campus. A beautiful background sounds to the chaos in his mind.

Kamui checks his phone curiously for any missed messages but comes up blank. The math book in front of him lays open on the table.

His chest aches, sighing sadly. Violet-blue eyes scan over the textbook.

I want Subaru to be happy. Kamui reflects and if being honest. I want to be the one who makes him happy.

Kamui caves. He opens his phone and presses upon the image app. There's that photo, he ended up cherishing. How Yuzuriha managed to get time taking candid photos of him and Subaru during their last few movie nights was beyond him.

Then there was the night when they fell asleep. It only seemed to be a few moments, but leave it to his friend to be on top of things.

Pictures of the pair snuggled up, asleep together had been sent to Kamui's phone that one morning. Subaru was holding him so tightly, even in sleep. Kamui zoomed in to see more of the older man's elegant features, the calm lines on light pink lips.

They're so soft…

The enamored teen takes his phone and quickly holds it to his chest, feeling the beats beneath. He's grateful to have a bit of time to himself. There's time to breathe, to think clearly, and let his heart calm a bit from everything happening.

Kamui lays his head down upon the textbook. Raven-black hair splays all over tr pages. Closing violet-blue eyes, he intends to relax during this small break between classes.

Brnnn. Brnn. His phone sounds off again. The electronic device continues to vibrate and beep. Kamui groans for a second before peering up. A hand grasps for the phone, fingers press the volume lower.

Looking up after a moment of reluctance, Kamui sees his phone overwhelmed with incoming messages and notifications.

'Are things going well with Sumeragi?' - Karen's text reads from the notification bar. The dots beside the words indicate she's likely going on about much more. The flushed student wasn't quite sure he was ready to see the follow-up.

'Kamui! We missed you this weekend! How are things with Subaru? Want to meet up for lunch?' - In comes the message from Sawada Keiichi. One Kamui imagines grinning brightly, rooting quietly, but still rooting for Kamui to finally resolve his feelings.

'Kamui! ^_^,' The recipient laughs for a moment. Nekoi Yuzuriha, of course. Her manner of speaker and texting has always been over the top. 'You have to tell me everything that happened after the spring festival?! And omg there's a new ice cream shop my classmates took me to! We Have to go there!'

Kamui shakes his head. Her energy was radiating from the texts alone. He's about to form a response before his phone starts vibrating again.

The contact name on top simply displays "Subaru ", Kamui bites his lip. He leans his head down again feeling the heat rise through his features. That's right he did go through with that.

'I got your note'

Before he could reply, another notification popped up on the top of the screen. Tender violet-blue eyes shivered and glistened. Kamui clutches his hold on the phone once more. He clutches a hand to his chest.

"I love you so much, my Kamui."

Made with love.

"We're incredibly grateful for your help, Mr. Sumeragi." The voice of a doctor thanks profusely. She holds out her hand for the other to shake. Subaru returns the gesture.

"It wasn't all that much," Subaru says humbly. He'd done these kinds of jobs hundreds of times before.

"Still, our patient hasn't been able to stay asleep for weeks now, since her husband's passing. We're thankful to you," She earnestly explains. The tired doctor's expression smooths down to show relief.

Subaru bows his head a bit. "I was happy to help," he answers truthfully. All the spirit wanted was to say his farewells to his wife before leaving this realm, apologize for being unable to do so before. There was a pain but a sense of peace and clarity in the older woman's eyes hearing those words.

Subaru lips curled up, bittersweet. These kinds of jobs used to always make him think of Seishirou. It had always been Seishirou and the heartache that came.

Now though… He kept glancing towards the exit. Hearing of lost-love, just made him want to skip work the rest of the day, pick up Kamui and hold him tight.

The array of dream eyes from male and female nurses was nothing new. As per usual Subaru remained oblivious. Though this time even more so. If it wasn't involving affectionate gazes, words, or gentle touches from Kamui, it didn't really register. Bidding his farewells and taking his leave.

There was a small little park outside of the hospital. The bento Kamui made for him had been carefully held and preserved in the hospital's break rooms. Subaru while reluctant allowed it, hearing the doctor give strict orders from the doctor no-one was to touch it.

The boxed lunch felt cool upon his fingertips. Finally, he'd have some time to be alone and savor what his beloved made for him.

Carefully, fingers undid the little string bow Kamui tied up last night. Carefully undoing the bindings revealed a stack of black bento trays sealed with a plastic lid. There was a beautiful assortment of colored vegetables: broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, bean sprouts, and the like. There was a section for steamed brown rice.

Subaru's fingers clenched around the side of the box. A cherry tomato was cut up into two halves together to make a little heart. He flushed, pulling out the first box to see what other treats Kamui prepared that would undoubtedly make his heart flutter. The sight of rolled omelets, berries, and other rinsed revealed itself. Whilst separating the layers, Subaru's eyes widened. Gold and emerald eyes zeroed in on the neatly folded note tucked into the side.

Forgoing examining the beautiful assortment of treats, the note was neatly taken out. The box was placed on the side of the bench.

The soft rose-pink notebook paper was folded up into a small square. Unraveling the paper, Subaru placed a hand to his chest. Fingers dug into the fabric of his shirt for purchase. Beautiful gem-colored eyes began to shake.

"Kamui…" Subaru called amorously. Emerald and gold orbs watered up a little, glistening brilliantly. The light from the sun only brightened the already lightning orbs.

Carefully neat and penmanship was written in the center of the paper.

Subaru, Don't overwork yourself. Please make time to eat today. I love you.❤️~ The note read followed by the little drawing of a heart. "You're way too cute," Subaru whispers his thoughts.

All these sweet gestures were threatening to overwhelm Subaru's throbbing heart. They were seemingly simple yet perfectly sweet. Perfectly Kamui, and he could feel the intent behind the little note and lunchbox.

Subaru cherished the first love note he'd received. Carefully, the paper is folded over several times and placed into his coat pocket for now. A mental to use a protection spell around the love-note was made.

Now, he wanted to return these fluttering feelings. Calling, Kamui would be ideal, but he was likely still in class… grasped for his phone, immediately messaging Kamui his thanks.

Full intentions were to express more love and devotion when they reunited back home.

For now. Subaru typed out a tender message for his love.

"I love you so much. My Kamui."

A pleasant heat overwhelmed Subaru's features. He took a slow breath, felt his stomach and chest clenching. He looked over the beautiful lunch his love provided. The more he looked over them the more that tight feeling started to ease with a pleasant warmth.

Maybe, this would turn out to be a good day.

Admission

Should have known. Kamui should have known a simple text of "Things went well", in response to his friend's inquiries, wouldn't be enough.

With hands flat on the table, the all too eager girl across from him looks ready to burst with questions. Standing straight up, Yuzuriha's dark imploring eyes met with Kamui. "Honestly," Short black hair shifted as she shook her head.

"Things went well?" Yuzuriha imitated the vague wording. "Well! You've barely answered any messages all weekend and you expect me to believe things were just ''well'," She exasperates, fingers curling down to form air quotes. With a dramatic and lengthy sigh, her arms crossed under her chest.

"I just had a lot on my mind," Kamui meekly defended himself.

"So something did happen?" Came the less invasive but curious question from Keiichi Segawa. Both his brunette and his blue and black-haired friend have a knowing spark lit up in their eyes.

Kamui shrunk down in his seat. He held his hands up in front of himself. "I didn't say that…" He attempted to wave himself from further embarrassment.

Slowly, two inquisitive faces peered closer towards him. It felt as though the two pairs of eyes were trying to study and analyze every little line, flush and crinkle in his facial features.

"So?" Yuzuriha pouted, a bit childishly. Her regards for personal space was all but obsolete. Small hands curled and landed the self on Kamui's shoulders. "What happened after you guys went back home?"

Kamui swallowed, turning his head away. He looked towards his more spatial friendly, but equally certain friend. Keiichi gave a polite smile and shrugged. There was a brightness in his eyes and grin that told Kamui he was very on board with learning more about their friend's recent trysts.

Kamui was once again reminded his friend had assumed he and Subaru were dating long before either could understand or know of their future and developing feelings. It wasn't until he and Yuzuriha re-enrolled at CLAMP school, where the institution was corrected. And the emotionally-mixed teen was forced to think of his rather ongoing romantic-friendship in that way.

"Kamui!?" Yuzuriha whined loudly. Her head hung forward in a slow dramatic fashion.

"You're not going to tell your closest friends about a very important development in your life?"

"We… were just going to the festival together that day…there weren't any big changes there… " Kamui told the partial truth. Violet-blue eyes shifted nervously. While they were there on campus. There wasn't anything official between them, yet, Kamui did omit his plans to confess. Subaru did call him beautiful for the first time and hold his hand.

"Nothing too big... I guess," Kamui muttered under his breath. Kind of...but all those little moments shared that day were precious memories reserved for him and Subaru. He pried the hands off his arms and scooted a few feet away from his invasive friend.

"So what DID happen?" Yuzuriha hadn't backed down. She only pressured further, again leaning uncomfortably close. Her interrogation was a bit relentless. The frown on her face grew with Kamui's silence.

"We spent the day together…" Kamui begins simply, and keeps his gaze away towards the trees and fountains surrounding the picnic tables. Though no one at the table believed that answer to be sufficient.

"I know that!" The enthusiastic girl went back to her seat and pouted. There was still quite a bit of eagerness as her eyes lit up with mischief. "I saw you guys there on your date," Yuzuriha emphasized. Her index fingers and thumbs curbed and met together to form a heart.

"Well, we just walked around the festival," Kamui's features painted a soft rose-pink. Besides, it was more of a pre-date... He saw both of his friends there. Still, embarrassing or not he couldn't bring himself to worry to the point of creating distance between himself and his precious person. It's not like there was anything wrong with enjoying being so close together.

"And went to the rose maze, right?" Yuzuriha supplied cheerfully. Her grin started to grow fully replacing the frustrating frowns. In a cheery sing-song voice, she continues. "The same place where students go to profess their feelings for their crush~"

Kamui groaned. He looked towards Keiichi with a sign of betrayal in his widening eyes.

"I didn't tell her about that," Keiichi assured with a sympathetic smile and glistening eyes. "I mean I know you had heard of the story behind it... but," He corrects quickly, "I was never sure if you wanted to go through with that idea in the first place, so I didn't say anything."

"Hey, it's not like that. I'm saying this because I saw you two go back to the gardens," Yuzuriha defended. Her hand motioned towards the slightly worried brunette. Cheerily she adds, "I saw you snuggling up on Subaru's arm~" She teases happily, the common bloom of pink on her friend's cheek being amusing. "He didn't tell me anything. You're kinda obvious. So did you?"

Kamui blinks. "Did I…? He mimics, minds a jumble of emotions and thoughts.

"Did you go through with it?" Yuzuriha's words came out louder than intended.

Kamui winced at the interrogation. His lips curled to a frown at the embarrassing memory where his words seemed to die in his throat whenever he attempted to confess his emotions. Though he and Subaru did have time to exchange soft kisses and cuddle up.

"Oh…" She hurriedly clapped a hand over her mouth. "Sorry," her voice quiets a bit and is rather guilt-ridden.

"Did things go alright from there?" Yuzuriha tries again. Are you alright? It still felt so odd, Kamui coming to school entirely too happy to seem rejected in any way.

Kamui's violet eyes soften, trembling softly a the recent memory. So much had happened.

"Ah…no, I don't mean things went well." Kamui pauses with his response. "There isn't anything to worry about. We spent time together there and.." the shy student goes on the defensive. "Besides... It's not like that place is only for couples…"

While not untrue, it certainly didn't sit right. The initial plan was to get those words out within the privacy of the gardens.

"I'm sorry," Yuzuriha's voice came out quietly. It felt impossible to believe the two males hadn't held the same or at least similar feelings. But…maybe there were some problems with the pair admitting that. "Things didn't go too well?"

Kamui's lips curl up one side, a gentle half-smile. "It's not like that," He does comply, his own hands settle to curl and play with each other on his lap. He was the one who should be feeling overwhelmed. The sadness and concern falling on his friend's faces were far more unpleasant than their teasing. "It's just nothing was said there."

The simple answer and implied admittance brightened the mood considerably. A spark reignited itself within Yuzuriha's light brown eyes.

Nothing was said there… As In somewhere else.

"Oooh!" Yuzuriha cheered right up. She clapped her hands together happily. With a dreamy sigh. "So something did happen somewhere else."

Kamui pursed his lips. Still, quite insistent in keeping his eyes away. This went especially so when he felt Keiichi's caramel-brown eyes upon him. While glancing over at them they were every bit as light and cheerful as his other friend.

"I…" Kamui made a slight sound between a sigh and a hiss. "I don't see the point in what you're getting at."

Yuzuriha showed more of a feline personality at times like this, fake name or not, Nekoi suited her well at times like these. Her lips curled up to a Cheshire-cat grin. Soft brown eyes lowered and curiously studied her friend's anxious behavior. She clasped it on one of Kamui's hands and trapped it within her own.

"So!~" She chirped in a sing-song voice. "What happened after?"

Kamui wasn't one to budge, even if he did slip up remembering images where his long-standing feelings were returned. The memory of Subaru easily lifting and placing him on their bed didn't help matters. Not when it was filled with all too many amorous kisses and caresses that still made his head spin.

The light dust of pink on cheeks darkened towards a deeper magenta. It was all the more apparent with how fair-skinned the student had been.

"Oh my God!" Yuzuriha squeed, a little flustered herself at whatever she 'discovered.'

"No." Kamui's response was quick and efficient. "Not like that."

"But-"

"Whatever you're thinking, looking like that. it can't be good."

Kamui managed to free his hand. He looked pleadingly towards Keiichi who had become somewhat of a neutral party between the two friends. This went especially so when it came to the subject of romance and overly enthusiastic responses.

"You know you don't have to say anything you don't want to," Keiichi supplied simply enough, seeing some relief in Kamui's flooded features. "Although," He couldn't suppress the smile. "If something good did happen, then I'd be really happy for you of course."

Yuzuriha sighed, seeing two pairs of eyes on her. She wasn't one to back down but still could give Kamui a little moment to himself.

While she did shrug and keep her head down. Her eyes were glittering at this point. Sparkling stars lit amongst the brightened amongst the orbs of light brown.

"Okay, OK. You don't have to say everything…" She started.

Kamui groaned looking at his friend. He raised an expectant yet twitching eyebrow and waited for her to continue.

"But, I just really care about you Kamui," She expressed sweetly and sincerely, quickly pulling her friend into a tight hug before giving him the needed space.

"So I just want to know a few things. Three more questions..." Her offer is given with an earnest smile.

"Just Three more questions?! " Kamui's eyebrow twitches slightly. Leave it to his friend to be insistent with whatever she wishes to know.

Kamui glared in her direction, at the bargaining chip. Not one more question... He would be tempted to walk away from this scene if he wasn't stuck with the troublesome feeling of caring so much for his friends.

"If you answer them truthfully, I'll stop," Yuzuriha offers again, this time making her plea somewhat more reasonable.

Kamui's violet-blue eyes raised at that. They studied his boisterous friend's expression, glancing up with some disbelief. That would be too good to be true.

"Maybe…" He half-committed. Certainly wasn't going into too many details, like what he'd been asked by Karen during their last phone call. "But it depends on the questions…" He shudders at the memory.

Yuzuriha visibly brightens at this, eyes sparkling. The cheerful girl simply beams and continues. She presses a finger to herself and outwardly thinks. "What to ask… What to ask first… Oh!"

Kamui rolls his eyes, this wouldn't be so simple.

"Are you happy, when you're with Subaru ?"

Kamui looked skeptically over his friend. That's it? It's obvious by now... He waited for something more, that would enrage or embarrass him about his recent relationship. The answer to that should be common knowledge. His mind screamed an immediate yes with the mere connection of "being with Subaru" and "being happy." Still, he found hopeful eyes and smiles from both of his friends.

"Yes," Kamui answers softly. "Of course…" He nods his head sheepishly and looks away.

"I'm glad," She expresses, beaming under the sunlight. Relief flooded through her. Her former leader and once solely scowling and heartbroken friend could smile again.

"So…you do love him?" She seeks to confirm.

Kamui's cheeks blush darkens and rose fully across his features. He doesn't answer verbally, just turns away, and makes a somewhat confirmative hum. Something ached at the thought of denying his love for Subaru. His heart was hammering too much to verbally acknowledge this right this second.

"Mmhm," he more positively acknowledges. There's a shy smile surrounded by a touch of pink all over his expression.

"I think I knew before you did," Yuzuriha's cheery voice comes out once more. Her eyes light up as she cheers and repeats. "I knew it!"

Kamui's violet-blue eyes turn to an icy glare. She simply sticks out her tongue.

"Okay… Okay…" She holds her hands up like a barrier blocking the deadly glares in her direction. "The last question," Yuzuriha ensures. "So are you and Subaru together now?"

The final question struck Kamui to his core. He felt his heartbeat singing and going off on its own. It was way too embarrassing and especially when a part of him felt a little elated at the prospect of expressing the happy news. Finally, a relationship where they could just be and belong.

Cheeks darken a much deeper color. Kamui clenched a hand to his chest. He could easily skip this question or try to derail. But this might be easier to confirm than having to personally announce the news. Reluctant and with vulnerable violet-blue orbs shaking, he bites down on his lips. Kamui nods.

"Oooh!" Yuzuriha squeals and wraps Kamui up into a hug. "I knew it! I'm so happy for you!" She continues, emotions raw and exposed as always.

To Kamui's surprise, he feels little drops of emotion trickling down to his shoulder. "Yuzuriha?"

"I'm so happy, you've been so hurt and down so to see you happy now," She swipes a finger under her eyes. Happy warm tears emit as she smiles. "So I'm glad you finally get a chance to be with someone who makes you that way!"

Kamui didn't know how to react. He was too used to the amused, teasing. Although seeing his dear friend tear up, being a crybaby or not, had an effect on him. There was a genuine spark of hope and joy in her eyes. They seemed to communicate she was entirely honest about this.

A little unused to affection, outside of Subaru, Kamui awkwardly hugs and pats her on the back for a moment. There's not a second of a phase before he finds Keiichi walking around to the other side of the bench. He quickly takes a seat beside Kamui and pulls him into a warm hug.

"Congratulations, Kamui! I think that's wonderful," Keiichi happily exclaims his approval. "I always thought you two had a way of fitting so well together."

"Thanks…" Kamui responds softly. Violet-blue eyes turn away shyly. Kamui ducks his head down. His hands start to cover his burning cheeks. He feels the heat rising up to his ears. "So we're done now with the questions?"

Yuzuriha seems lost in her own world. Seeing her friend so happy and in love brought out such a beautiful energy and feeling within her. She didn't respond to Kamui's question, nor seem to intend to keep to or keep track of her three questions.

"Aww, so have you guys kissed?"

Kamui's eyes widened immensely. Quickly, he hushed his friend with a finger to his mouth. The last thing he wanted was more gossip about him. He felt his heart in his throat and swallowed. His deepening flush and panicked squeak from the question was confirmation enough.

"I'm done answering questions," Kamui states firmly. His lips push out towards a mix between pouting and sulking.

"You totally have," Yuzuriha answers for herself. She giggles, not listening to Kamui's groans and complaints.

Kamui wanted to be able to stay mad and frustrated for longer. He doesn't deny her words. His arms lay flat on the table as he buries his face down across them.

Every now and then he looks up at his close friends and classmates with some fondness. Though he does pout. He should be able to stay mad or act like it more. But thoughts of kissing and feeling so much love from Subaru make it impossible not to smile. The world was still full of pain and heartaches, but at least for today, this moment things seemed a bit brighter.

Anticipation

Tomorrow would mark the day of his first "official date" with Subaru. Technically, it could be Kamui's first date in general. He didn't count outings with Kotori and Fuuma when they were kids.

Though it was hardly the first time he'd spent one-on-one time with the man he loved. The reserved pair went out to park, for dinner, and the festival on several occasions. Neither knew the other's love just then.

But now that would change. There was a satisfying warmth knowing reciprocated love. And love that wasn't fated to end tragically as it had before…

Kamui found himself spending more time looking over his appearance in the bathroom mirror. He'd brush his hair just enough so it looked neat, but not "Subaru neat", leading to the other fussing with his hair each morning.

The idea of just how to present himself had been tearing at him. Was he supposed to feel this nervous? Should he just wing it?

It was a casual coffee date… But it was with Subaru. The thought of that brought out fluttering movements in his stomach.

Images conjured up of his love: Gentle smiles, and sugary-sweet words that made Kamui melt. Then there was that hand holding his so tightly. It fit so perfectly within his own.

Kamui pressed hands to his cheeks and looked at his reflection with motivation. could do this! They'd be fine.

His beloved had always been so tender and sweet. There wasn't a worry he'd be anything but positive. Still, Kamui wished to present himself at his best, and hopefully keep loving and beautiful eyes on him throughout the date.

Library

It was meant to be a quiet afternoon. One simply left to read a few source materials for his classes.

Kamui was at one of the school's computers with a stack of different literature and history books beside the table. Friday, tomorrow, was going to be the day. It was a school holiday. A day just for the two of them. He didn't want homework to get in the way of that. Doing the best he could now, would be beneficial.

Fingers typed up a quick assortment of answers and sentences for his history class. He winced a bit, looking into the natural disasters and infamous events they read about.

Undoubtedly, last year would be an addition to their history. The events then, Kamui hadn't been able to stop. Hadn't the strength or power to do more than hope for a reality where he could simultaneously save the earth and Fuuma.

Fingers clenched tightly over the computer mouse. Violet-blue eyes blurted, worn with enough scars and trauma to not go further. He scrolled down on the computer to the next set of questions. The review overall wasn't too bad, his clenched hand loosened looking over the written questions on the displayed computer document.

Kamui glanced between his notebook and the questions on the screen. Reading silently to himself, he wrote up a few answers regarding different historic figures and cultural differences from that time and today.

Finally, finishing up with what he deemed to be good enough, Kamui clicked the printer icon on the side of the screen. He got up to retrieve the pages as they printed, placing them in order before going into a plain blue folder with History written on the front.

Next, came literature. Kamui's eyes zeroed in on some of the poems throughout his assignments. Many of which were love poems, depicting flowery words of feelings and emotions tied to the writer's beloved.

It was alright. Enough for Kamui to continue typing about and answer vague questions. There were questions about symbolism Kamui wrote up in his notebook.

Then one, in particular, an opinion piece. Great…

Which poet/poem do you feel best conveys the feeling of love?

Kamui stumbled a bit. He propped his elbows up on the computer desk. His chin rested into his palm. Beautiful violet eyes fluttered close as he thought about it.

The beautiful image earned a lot of admiring glances upon Kamui. Though he didn't bother to check. There was only one person he cared to look at him with loving gazes.

He bit his tongue, recalling symbols and metaphors regarding the writer's love. Words of nature, flowers, snow, rainbows, and so on. It was easy to picture but, none of the writers seemed to really describe love. Not the way he's felt it.

Maybe I should just pick one at random.

It wasn't like he had to do a full essay on it. Violet-blue eyes scanned the collection of short poems. The book had images of ocean waves, falling snow, flowers, butterflies, and so on….

I guess that would work. Kamui flipped over to a page with an image of white and pink sakura blossoms. The words of lovers holding hands, looking up, and viewing blossoming flowers.

Something short, and simple, it worked. There weren't enough words to really describe the feeling of love. This made him think of the person he loved. So that would be that.

Kamui proceeded to read over the lines and words carefully. He took out some notes from class about different symbolism in poetry and literature and what it could be. Combining it with his own feelings of love, his fingers typed all across the keyboard.

Once again Kamui printed out the document of his answers. He waited for the papers to complete, before hearing a tap, tap, tap, sound emitted.

Kamui looked up to see the familiar bright red nails tapping on the top of his book pile.

"Wh-what?" The student quickly looked up. His cheeks a dusted mess of pink recalling what he'd be writing and thinking of.

Violet-blue eyes turned up to take in pink curly hair, amber eyes, and a heartwarming smile. One that made Kamui think back to his time with his mother or "Aunt" Tohru growing up. Or perhaps more of a kind-hearted older sister.

"Karen!" Kamui lit up at the sight of his friend. Quickly, he took his homework, filled with words of poetry and love, and tucked it away within the book.

She giggled, as though knowing what Kamui was up to. His actions and emotions wore nicely on his sleeves.

"Am I interrupting anything?" She says with a teasing grin. There's a dancing light within her amber eyes making them glow.

"N-no," Kamui replied, shaking his head. "I was just finishing up."

The taller of the two beamed at this. She clapped her hands together. Giggles were suppressed by a beautifully manicured hand.

"You seemed quite focused," She gently chided. Kamui nodded.

"We'll-well I wanted to make sure I got things done so I wouldn't have to do them on Friday," Kamui explains off-handedly. He grabs for the black school bag leaning beside his chair.

Hands grasp for the pile of books and folders as he carefully places them back into his bag.

"Oh, why is that?" Karen asked with a curious gaze. Kamui's pink cheeks painted a dark shade. He took particular interest in looking down at his bag.

"It's n-nothing much," Kamui bites his tongue. Liar. Like I haven't been thinking about this all week. He mentally berates himself.

"Is that so?" Karen places a finger to her lips. There's mischief twinkling in her eyes but she keeps it to herself. The quirk of her lips tells Kamui she has an idea.

"Well, I have the afternoon off, I thought It might be nice to catch up, maybe get some ice cream," Karen says, patting Kamui on the head as one would a small kitten. "My treat."

Kamui smiles at this. "You don't have to do that," He replies, eyes a bit guilty at the thought of being spoiled again. Subaru was often too hard to negotiate with on matters of spoiling and treating Kamui to what he liked. Much like his Subaru, Karen remained stubborn. She held a hand in front of his face. "I insist," She goes on and ruffles the now messy head of raven hair.

Kamui's lips pout out at this. He quickly fixes his hair to its normal (slightly messy) place.

"If you say so," Kamui answers with an audible huff. "But you don't have to."

"I want to," Karen surely replies. There's a stern glint in her eyes that tells Kamui it's not debatable.

"Okay…" Kamui agrees, standing up and taking his book bag with him.

There is an array of various admirers watching Kamui from afar. Karen has her own, some former students who come up to her.

"I loved your lecture, Ms. Kasumi!" One student squeed, starry-eyed.

"Please tell me you're going to continue with the drama club next semester as well!" Another student/fan chirped.

Karen would greet the student by name and assure them she planned on helping at this school as long as possible. Kamui had no doubt their director would see that happening.

Then there were the bolder admirers who would come up with a: "Are you seeing anyone?" or the like.

Karen laughed off the other one."It's a secret," She had teased the crushing student, a finger pressed to her lips. Of course, this only led to more whispers and chattering. Unlike Kamui, she seemed amused by this attention.

Though with it still being a library, they manage to go out without any difficulties.

"Don't you ever get tired of that?" Kamui asked when they were some distance away.

"From what?" She inquired.

"All those students coming up to you, the admirers…" Kamui sighs. "I can't keep up with how insistent some people are."

Karen gently placed her hand on top of Kamui's head. She pets the crown of his head and giggles. "That wasn't bad at all. They're sweet students and it takes courage to approach someone like that. It can be sweet."

"I see…" Kamui begins, looking ahead. The shop is close by. Eyes linger over the signup front. Curly lettering spells out "Sweet Dreams" with an icon of an ice cream cone appears. Little scoops of strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate are shown stacked on top.

"You probably don't even notice the majority of those who look at you," Karen adds on. "You're quite the popular one."

Kamui groans at the words. "I guess…"

"Although with your head in the clouds like it was earlier. I can see how you missed your own admirers back there.."

Kamui flustered at the comment. "I-I was just focusing on my work," he explained. That's what students were supposed to be doing in the library. "Besides I've had enough attention for a lifetime. And I'm not going to return those feelings, so…. " Kamui huffs. "They should stop."

"Kamui, " Karen giggles. Her laughter grows in volume as she holds a hand to her mouth.

"What?" Kamui asks, furrowing his brow.

"Subaru must have his hands full with you," She jests, opening the glass door before the shop.

Kamui stays quiet. He goes on auto-pilot for a brief moment in the shop. The rising flush of scarlet red goes from the neck up.

"What?" Kamui yelps, earning curious looks from customers and staff alike in the shop.

"What does Subaru… " Kamui's voice softness. He hushes the rest of the words. "Have to do with this?"

Karen smirks at this. "Kamui," She calls with a nurturing hand brushing against the side of his burning face. "It's pretty obvious you two are quite entangled in the other's life now," She pauses, seeing glossy bright violet eyes tremble with some hesitance."You two fit well together," She says, before heading to the front of the shop.

Both of you are so oblivious.

Kamui ceased his answer for a brief moment. His vision was clouded with countless colorful ice cream flavors, and toppings. Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint, cotton candy, green tea, birthday cake, and so on… They were arranged neatly by color.

Off to the side of the ice cream. There were counters with various containers of various nuts, syrups, and crumbles of popular candy bars. In favor of giving in to his sweet tooth, he'd let the earlier topic slide.

"I think I'd like to have two scoops...one of lavender and vanilla bean," Kamui orders quietly pointing at the light purple and white tub.

"Hm," Karen hums, tracing her finger over the glass cover over the counter. "I'll just go with strawberry and black cherry, " Karen sweetly orders. The young man working at the front desk flushed. He looked up towards the older women with deep admiration but shyly turned back down to fulfilling the simple order.

"Alright, here you are," He is first to hand Kamui a small bowl of ice cream. Shakily he hands Karen her order. The older woman smiles brilliantly. It was a similar smile that brought her countless customers while working as past host clubs.

"Thank you," Karen tells the boy, certain to make eye contact. Kamui was certain the cashier would combust when their hands brushed to exchange the bowl of ice cream.

The timid cashier gulps. "N-no problem, you can pick out your toppings on the tables to the left," He points to white countertops with several glass containers. Serving scoops were inside each of them.

In addition whipped cream on top, chocolate syrup, and sprinkles were a must. Kamui felt a warmth, recalling fond summer memories in his childhood.

Karen had her own bowl of the two pink flavors and added on some whipped cream and fresh strawberry slices.

A hand full of napkins and two plastic spoons are scooped up with their treats.

"Let's find a seat then," She continued and led Kamui back to their tables.

"Okay," Kamui agrees and quietly follows along. The shop is pretty scarce aside from a few groups of students sitting together. The unneeded attention is a nice breath of fresh air.

"I really appreciate this," Kamui thanks with sincerity. His violet-blue eyes glisten before looking. They brighten at the sight of his sugary concoction.

"I'm glad," Karen tells him. Her hand warmly brushes over Kamui's as she smiles. There's something comforting, maternal about the way she interacts. Kamui relaxes into his seat.

Taking a plastic blue spoon, Kamui dips it through the chocolate topping. The calming smell of lavender from the ice cream flows through the room. Kamuis's eyes light up, taking his first bite, bringing the spoon to his lips.

Karen watches with amusement. Kamui's face was all too honest, enraptured by the sweet flavors from the dessert. His violet-blue eyes glistened, white lights reflect like stars.

After a moment, feeling soft yet pained eyes glossing eyes on him, Kamui does stop. His lips curve down in concern. "Is something wrong, you're not eating?" He asks, eyes lowering.

She shakes her head. Again she reaches across the table to pat Kamui's head. "No, I'm just glad we have time to do something like this. It… Almost doesn't seem real."

"I know the feeling..." Kamui softly agrees, the quirk of his lips bittersweet. He stirs his spoon again in the soft treat, mixing colors of purple and white into one. "It's weird just… Going to school now and… Not coming home alone."

That same bittersweet curl turns up Kamui's lips. Memories coming back to an empty home in Jr. high still stung all these years later. His mother went to be his shadow sacrifice.

"You seem happy with your new living arrangements," Karen tells him. There's a knowing glint in her eyes but she doesn't press forward. Kamui's face falls a bit forlorn stuck in the past.

"He always comes back home," Kamui says the words as though they were from a fairytale. That bittersweet, crestfallen look on his face lights up. There's a small but natural smile, lifting his cheeks and coloring all across his face. He comes back to me. "Even when it's really late I know he's going to come back."

"Sumeragi adores you, Kamui," Karen expresses softly. A pang is felt in her chest, just how lost Kamui's voice sounded. His violet-blue eyes shivered and became a bit more watery. "We all do of course," She reaches across the table to clasp the boy's hand tightly. "He cares for you deeply, I'm confident being with you makes him feel the most at home."

Kamui pinkens at the comment. "I hope so," He whispers, before taking another bite of the ice cream.

Karen gives Kamui a moment. Silently, she scoops her own spoon into the fruit dessert. Amber-gold eyes light up at the taste, she can't fight the smile from it.

The nurturing woman watches as Kamui gathers his thoughts. The wrinkles in his nose, glittering eyes, and flustering cheeks at whatever he imagined.

"Wherever you are Kamui, I'm sure that's where he wants to be," Karen shares, finally getting Kamui to look back up in her eyes.

The young student displays gentle smiles. His eyes brighten thoughts of coming home and seeing someone so happy to see him at the end of the day. That warmth was like no other.

"I think I also…" Kamui starts up. His other friends knew/correctly guessed developments with Subaru. Though he wasn't quite sure if he could put it into words. "I always want to be with Subaru."

The quiet admission made Kamui's eyes glimmer. Lights within the shop made traces of his eyes appear a brilliant sky-blue. The darker glints of violet orbs resembled that of a sparkling amethyst.

"I'm glad," Karen responds carefully. Kamui's admission had left him open and vulnerable. "You two deserve to be happy and it seems that works best when you're together."

Kamui burns up a bit. His ears redden, and his hormonal mind can't stop recalling countless kisses and touches they've had since living together.

"Am I wrong?" Karen asks, the ball in Kamui's field.

"No, you're not," He shakes his head. "I think I've figured some things out since we last talked."

"So you did…" She comments gently.

"Things with Subaru are going really well," Kamui very softly proclaims. His eyes brighten reflecting glowing pastel colors and white lights. The smile on Kamui's lips curls up further, making him glow angelically. There was only one feeling in the world that could bring about that kind of smile.

"Ah, am I right in assuming you two have gotten together now?"

Kamui pauses. A distressed whine is suppressed between pressed lips. His other friends knew, it didn't seem helpful to lie about it either. Quickly he hums in confirmation.

"Congratulations then!" Karen proclaims sincerely, holding one of Kamui's hands within her own. The shy student turns away, unsure of how to respond to these reactions. They were unknown but not at all unpleasant to see.

Kamui nods his head again. "T-thank you? I think?..." The shy student ducks down in his seat, feeling curious gazes cast his way.

Karen softly laughs, releasing Kamui's hand. She giggles at the way Kamui takes his free hand back to shield his burning face.

"You're welcome, so… and you can relax. I won't go too personal with these questions," She assures. The relationship was quite new for both inexperienced young men. "Have you two gone out on any dates yet?"

Kamui's certain the red growing on his cheeks remains for quite some time. He does quietly answer the question. He whispers it like a secret, "Tomorrow."

"Ah," Karen's shimmery eyes glaze, dreamily. "So your first date then?"

"Mm-hmm," Kamui hums, shifting his gaze towards various corners of the shop.

"Aww," Karen practically coos seeing the young man flustered over a first date.

"I-it's nothing to aww about," Kamui pouts a bit and turns his head towards the side. This is normal, going out on dates...is a normal part of us getting closer. He tells himself a hundred times over to his thrashing heart.

Karen looks too amused, eyes He wished he could seem somewhat composed, not to be seen as a flustered mess as he was now.

"We've spent a lot of time together before…" Kamui comes to reason more with himself than anything.

"You two have always been close," She explains. "Where are you going tomorrow then?" Karen inquires.

"I don't know yet. Somewhere out for coffee, Subaru hasn't told me the place yet," Kamui explains meekly. His cheeks puff out a bit at the lack of answers regarding that.

I guess it is kind of cute… he wants to make it a surprise. His smile curls up again foolishly.

"That's sweet," Karen playfully tells the younger male. Her lips curl up to a knowing grin. "So have you gotten any ideas from the books I've given you?"

Kamui's eyes blow up at that statement. He covers his mouth, slightly mortified. "Of course not!" He vehemently denies it had been bad enough Subaru even knew he had them. Thinking beyond kissing (outside of the dream realm) would bring a sensory overload.

Karen laughs, watching the various links and reds blooming across Kamui's cheeks. "Oh, well there's always time for that later~"

A soft morning

It's Friday. Kamui's eyes blearily open to see a sleepy face so close to his own. He pecked the older man's lips.

A little flutter spread in his stomach, seeing lips curling up, even while unconscious.

They could sleep in. The desire to get up and get ready for their first date was also tempting.

Protective arms tugged Kamui closer. It was decided, he'd just rest a little longer until his loved one woke up. Kamui cuddled closer into the welcoming arms. He nuzzles the older man's neck, waiting for his beloved to arise.

It's all too warm and comforting. Moments pass by quickly, without realizing it Kamui fully gives in to sleep. Not even that tired but the warmth was just too alluring.

The next time violet eyes begin to stir they're met with sleepy, gold, and emerald eyes. There was a certain kind of intimacy that came with rising together this time.

"Good morning," Subaru softly greets him. His voice is a little breathy and husky, still quite sleepy. Feeling that voice so close makes Kamui's toes curl.

Despite the thrumming heartbeat, Kamui has the sense to return the gesture. "Good morning, Subaru."

Kamui's lips are fully sealed. Their bodies are cuddled up so close, making the languid, sweet kiss that much more intimate.

"I love you," Subaru professes, soft and tenderly.

Kamui's eyes go soft. Violet-blue eyes lighten and glow at the words. "I-I love you too," He returned a little sheepish, and a little in disbelief this kind of tender moment was even possible.

"Did you sleep well?" Subaru asks, entangling their legs. Kamui softly mewls. Even their feet brush, there's something so intimate about that simple little touch. They could connect like that literally from head to toe.

There isn't a more powerful force felt than the one pulling them in. Violet-blue falls hopelessly into equally helpless gold and emerald. Their faces press close, lips caressing one another.

"I should probably get ready…" Kamui says between tender little kisses. Both know that 'later on' is implied.

"Oh? Do you have plans for the day?" Subaru asks, teasing and a little bit flirtatious. The latter putting Kamui's nerves and senses into overdrive. Violet-blue orbs go foggy, especially feeling a warm breath over his lips.

"Mhmm," Kamui manages to mumble out, slightly shivering in tightening arms. Their lips seal over each other for a few more languid moments, slowly, very very slowly they'll get up.

First Date

Finishing a quick breakfast, Kamui heads up the stairs to get dressed and ready for the day.

It was a coffee date, so something casual. But it was with Subaru. Kamui definitely wanted something that would keep Subaru's eyes on him, even if it did feel a little embarrassing.

So a simple yet chich look would have to be made. Kamui's silky black hair was already quite smoothed down from their earlier cuddle session. So it didn't need much more work.

He and Subaru didn't usually wake up around the same time. The younger of the two had been used to being up and getting ready ahead of time.

Now though… Kamui quickly gathered his things, taking a new pair of underwear from his set of dresser drawers. Below that, he grasped a pair of black jeans, and he rushed to the closet.

"Ah-Subaru!" Kamui squeaks, seeing the taller male at the door.

Subaru lips quirked, eyes dancing and a little amused. That look only intensified seeing a rise of pink on Kamui's cheeks.

"I-I'll get changed in the bathroom!" Kamui sputters. He snatches up a short-sleeve shirt, a soft lilac color with white trim all across the hems.

"Oh, Kamui!" Subaru held out his hand in front of him.

Nervous, shaking violet-blue eyes looked towards the older male.

"I can just go if you want to-" Subaru winced as his voice cracks. His swallow visibly and reddens. "Change is here."

Get a grip. Subaru inwardly scolds himself.

"No, no, no," Kamui quickly interjects. "It's fine. Besides you need to… as well." Kamui sheepishly holds a hand to his cheek. Shaky, nervous fingers move up and comb through his hair, ruffling it in the process. Violet-blue eyes barely manage to stop themselves from ogling admiring the lean-muscled figure. Still, curious eyes did steal glances.

Kamui makes a mental note to possibly start changing in one of the guest rooms, on occasions like this. Quickly he scurried towards the bathroom.

The flustered young man leans his back against the door. His fingers turn the lock for good measure.

A closed milky-white hand holds itself to Kamui's chest, feeling the movement.

There's a moment before Kamui gathers himself. He removes his current pajamas and quickly jumps into his new attire. The lilac blouse fits close to his form, alongside the slim dark jeans. Shyly, Kamui looks at himself in the mirror. Fingers fuss with his bangs, experimenting with parting his bangs to another side before going back to his usual look.

When heading out the door, he comes to the mistake of realizing his past blunder. Of course, he had to get dressed too…

For Kamui's overly flustered sake, Subaru was already mostly dressed. His eyes are glossy, maybe a little dazed, the tall and sleek man holds the ends of a button-up together. Absently he fastens the little buttons from the top down. Kamui sees the older man buttoning up on a soft-blue shirt.

Violet-blue eyes fell into admiring the exposed, abdomen muscles. Subaru caught the eyes on him, locking gold and emerald orbs fully to his violet-blue. There's a hint of mirth dancing in the whites of his eyes.

That look softens even more so as they catch each other's gaze. Rose-pink lips portray a loving smile and warm loving eyes directed clearly at Kamui. Kamui's legs turn to jello, especially as the one he admires steps closer.

Soft hands caress both of Kamui's cheeks. Subaru's thin lips caress softer, more plush lips before pulling away. Dual-hued eyes admire and become entranced by the parted lips and flushed cheeks.

"You look really good Kamui," Subaru tells him, with what outwardly seems to be ease. His chest is pounding, hormones and his love-sick brain not helping matters. Though complimenting Kamui comes easier than expected, especially while meaning every word.

"Thank you, " Kamui looks towards the various corners of the room. "Y-you too."

"Shall we get started?" Subaru says sweetly, offering his hand before Kamui. The shyer of the two nods and happily takes the larger hand in his own.

The pair head out down the stairs. They quickly slip on their shoes by the door before heading out. Kamui barely manages to catch himself from tripping over the threshold. Even still, familiar arms wrap around Kamui protectively, pulling him to a warm, safe place.

"T-thanks," Kamui whispers, standing back up again. He stands on his tiptoes to press a kiss to Subaru's cheek. Slowly, they part again. Subaru is quick to get the door, holding it out sweetly for Kamui.

The younger male watches his date, closing the door behind him. Shimmering, admiring eyes look over an elegant face. The worry lines and circles under tired eyelids aren't visible today. There's a sense of serenity over smooth, pale skin. It feels they both were able to sleep well last night… And into this morning. Kamui recalls their earlier activities.

"It's really nice today," Subaru breaks the silence a moment after exiting their place. Kamui nods at this, unsure why it's becoming harder to focus, or why his voice seems to leave him.

Subaru made him feel so safe and comforted. But… Now he had to think of Subaru as his-

"Um… Subaru?" Kamui asks meekly, keeping his head down.

"What is it?" Subaru's reply comes sweet, squeezing Kamui's hand with reassurance.

"M-maybe it's too early to ask this…"

"You can ask me anything."

"Are we…" Kamui waves his free hand at the small space between their bodies then down to their hands. "You know…" Kamui blushes, looking down towards the ground. A soft pause follows. The older man studies his beloved's face and trembling eyes.

"What do you want us to be?" Subaru offers, with patient, glistening eyes. His hand not squeezing Kamui's reaches up to cup the slender chin.

Kamui gulps. "I…" There's a brief silence, Kamui's fingers lock and interlock with his beloved's. "just want to be with you… Be together?"

"As do I," Subaru agrees and kisses the flustering cheekbones.

"So are we… are you… Will you be... " Kamui's lips start trembling, the little kisses, turn his mind to mush. Words. Think of words. It's a little distracting, but the older man pause for a moment. He stills a hand on the red cheek and waits patiently.

"My...boyfriend?" Kamui voices, faintly. "Suba-mmmf!" His beloved's hands are back to flustered cheeks. Tender lips snatch up Kamui's in a heartbeat. "Yes." Glistening, emerald, and gold peer into equally smiling violet-blue orbs.

"I'd love to be," Subaru doesn't miss a beat. "And likewise I..." Well, he started cooly. He cursed his throbbing chest. "I want you to be my boyfriend as well."

"Really?" Kamui asks again, hesitant, skeptical. Not of the devotion his beloved holds but... It all feels too easy, too good to be true. He reflects.

"Really," Subaru assures, not giving the insecure beauty any more time to overthink this. He once again steals Kamui's lips in a sweet but much more lingering kiss. There's a lot more movement, teases of lips parting and shifting. Kamui leans into the touch. Pressing back into the caress, he's melding with his now… Boyfriend.

Kamui flushes, eyes a little glossy and heated as they pull away. He takes a rare initiative to press them back into a tender kiss. There's a lingering desire… Maybe…it wouldn't be so bad continuing a little more. Maybe soon a teeny bit further sometime when they were home...

Now was supposed to be their 'first date', they've broken countless 'rules' and expectations of couples only just going out. Though their relationship was far more intimate than that begin with, even when they were 'only' close-friends. It was to be expected. Besides neither could say it was anything but blissful.

A comfortable silent walk ensues, their hands laced neatly. The sun shines brightly, reflecting white glows in both men's eyes. There's an almost heavenly glow to Kamui's face when he looks at his boyfriend. Subaru's breath hitches, taking a moment to observe the soft, loving features from a closer angle.

Subaru stops briefly, brushing a few strands of raven hair behind a sensitive reddening ear. Kamui averts his eyes for a moment, feeling the gaze on him a bit more passionate than his heart could handle not. The two lose themselves in their own little bubble. Admiring gazes and whispers about the gorgeous males go unnoticed.

They approach the small cafe up ahead. "This is the place," Subaru announces, admiring the way Kamui's eyes dart up curiously.

"Crescent Cafe" was the name of their destination. The sign was written in curly romanized letters. Beside it was the painting of a white ceramic cup, filled with foam and a crescent moon design in the center.

There's something so endearing about the little place. The memory they'd make here. Kamui leans his raven-head of hair upon his love's arm.

Subaru smiles at this, tenderly. Gold and emerald eyes bore into Kamui and his kissable recently loved-up lips. They cuddle up for a few moments. Subaru relishes feeling Kamui hugging his arm, as they continue walking. They take a brief scenic route around the other shops before settling at their destination.

Somehow they manage to get in through the door of the shop, having to change their entangled state temporarily. Subaru remembers opening the door for Kamui. The pair walk into the cafe, a little light-headed, but blissful. They waltz towards the short line of customers. It was hard to concentrate on anything else though or bother taking time away to linger on the menu. The older man's gaze was 100% on his loved ones adorably rose-pink cheeks and curled lips.

The pair take a moment to look around and admire the comforting little cafe. There are various round marble tables surrounded by various white wooden chairs, and some with a variety of lounge chairs.

There were several beige booths at the sky-blue walls of the cafe. Upon the walls were images of floral arrangements, coffee cups, and different coffee beans.

The ceilings are decorated with what appears to be lights framed to form a lotus blossom. Smaller flower-shaped lights surround the larger one in the center. The cafe is quaint, unhurried, with a smiling elderly woman by the front counters talking with another customer. A young teenager walks around behind the counter, with the same soft caramel eyes. There's a resemblance there, adding to the comfortable, at-home feel of the place

Kamui's eyes, stray from his beloved, momentarily. He glances over the glass displays of fancy-looking cupcakes, cookies, and scones. It's All too easy for him to lose his focus, the aroma of freshly baked pastries brings a blissful smile to soft pink lips.

Being so lost, Kamui isn't as observant of his surroundings, nor the protective figure brushing closer. "Ah-" Kamui softly yelps. His beloved stealthily presses a kiss right under a surprisingly sensitive ear. His breath is warm and melting to Kamui's senses. "Have anything you want." Subaru whispers sounded quite delighted at the aspect of spoiling his date.

Kamui's smile melts at this, though he finds his legs going a little wobbly at close contact. He shyly nods, whispering a quick thanks. Looking around it seems none of the customers here were bothered by what happened. It was quite the contrary, any lingering looks were those of admiration to the new couple. A pair of two teenage girls, hand in hand walked through the door with a bright smile, waving at the owner. The elderly woman brights up, recognizing the customers and waving back.

This place seems certainly accepting. Kamui notes.

The pair approach the front counter. A kind elderly woman greets them with a toothy smile. A boy who appears to be not much older than Kamui quietly leaves behind a back door. He ducks his head down, stealing glances at Kamui. Returning quickly, with an arm full of creamers and milk substitutes, he awkwardly half-smiles, apprehensive to talk. The boy frowns, looking down at himself, before busying himself with the different coffee machines.

"Welcome," The older lady greets. Her dark grey eyes scan and light up at the site of the beautiful couple at the counter."What can I get started for you two?"

Kamui's cheeks are already painted a deep shade of pink. Even if the kind lady didn't say anything, he knew that look. The kind of sparkly-eyed gaze that awed over "young love" or something of the sort.

Subaru turns to Kamui, admiring the beautiful colors that only accentuate his glowing features now.

"I'll have the medium Dark Roast Coffee," Subaru orders politely with a soft smile. He does make eye contact with the owner, but it was a little hard to stay focused. Gold and emerald eyes kept gravitating back to the beautiful young man beside him. The younger of the two stopped a bit, looking over the various treats on display.

"Kamui…" He softly beckons his sheepish date. The younger of the two stepped a foot closer to the counter.

"Right…" Kamui says, mind a little hazy. He looks over the menu quickly again to confirm something. "I'd like to have…" Kamui took a breath, mind going a million directions.

Why am I getting so nervous now? It's not like they haven't gone out places before. He knew what he wanted to say.

Subaru had an air of maturity… Even with a simple order. But… Would his order seem childish in comparison? Did the difference in tastes matter all that much? It was all too easy to overthink. He wasn't beside Subaru as just a close friend now...

The warm hand trailing down his arm, makes him focus. When those elegant fingers brush upon him, his features relax. His beloved had never once called him childish or made him feel any less than that of an equal.

That's right. This was with Subaru. Which brought on the feelings of butterflies yet a sense of serenity.

"I'd like to have the medium Vanilla Cream Frapuccino" Kamui meekly gives his sugary order. It was hardly an unusual one at that. There were surely plenty of couples who simply had different tastes as they did.

Couples…

The reserved male kept his head down, afraid he'd reveal everything he'd been thinking. with a look on his side.

The older woman smiles and nods at this. "Would you like it with whipped cream?"

Kamui snaps out of it awkwardly. "Yes, a… And…" He pauses scanning over the treats behind the glass counter. "One of the 'berry-blend' cupcakes." slender fingers point down to the pink frosted treat with blueberries and cherries decorated on top. "Please."

The older woman types something up on the register and beams. "Ah, that's been one of our most popular desserts this week."

"You have good taste," Subaru compliments his love sweetly.

Kamui presses his lips together. Violet-blue eyes wander and linger over defined features, ivory cheeks, glistening and captivating eyes. Soft rose-pink lips just kept curling up and softening the longer Kamui admired them.

"Yeah?" Kamui's eyes fluttered admiring his kind, beautiful boyfriend. "Maybe I do."

Subaru blinked a few times, taking a moment to process the insinuation. When it does click the taller of the two, flushes lightly, but pleasantly.

"And we will also try one of the chocolate cupcakes too," He orders, with interest and memory of Kamui's eyes lingering there.

Kamui looks up with raised eyes. They lower and settle after a moment. Kamui's lips curve. Violet-blue eyes go shimmery and soft. A way they did when he really wanted to kiss him.

Well, they would have to when they were alone. Kamui burns up a bit, they were already a bit closer than planned just seconds ago.

"Wonderful," The older lady claps her hands together and smiles fondly at the scene. She recites the coffee drinks to the young quiet male back by the machines.

He nods, eyes lingering, a little too entranced on Kamui. A tiny bit too much for Subaru's liking.

Of course, Kamui wasn't even looking up or noticing a thing. That alone soothes most of Subaru's nerves.

The young brunette male took out a few white plates from the back counters. He gingerly took out the cupcakes from the glass display.

Seeming a bit hopeful, he places the plates out in front of the couple. Though the sparkling eyes and hopeless grin shows he's not quite aware of the relationship the pair shared. "Your drinks will be right out," He says, and fondly gazes upon Kamui once again. Subaru feels his eye slightly twitch at the admiring gaze.

"I-oh thank you," Kamui adds on, oblivious. He grasps for the plate, fingers barely brushing against Kamui's. The poor worker seems about ready to combust.

Kamui smiles simply, politely, though it leaves the worker lighting up, enraptured.

"I'll bring your drinks to your table when they're done," the barista offers, politely, eagerly. His hand brushes a bit longer over Kamui as he takes the second cupcake plate.

Seeing that… Subaru maybe, possibly, wraps a protective arm around Kamui's waist and keeps his oblivious love close. "Let's go find a table then," He whispers intimately close to his love, breath hot and lingering in his ear for good measure. Kamui fully shivers. The following blush brings out a pleasant heat through the older boyfriend's core.

"O.. okay…" Kamui agrees. His eyebrows furrow, a little lost. He is led towards the back of the cafe.

"Let's sit here then," Kamui points towards a round light-blue booth. Secluded, and allowing them to be quite close. Subaru readily approves of this. The couple takes their seats, Kamui placing both of their cupcakes on the table.

The younger of the two slides in towards the far end of the booth, nearly against the wall. Subaru is left to follow after. He slides over closer and closer until he can feel his legs brush up against Kamui.

"Thank you, Subaru," Kamui beautifully glows. His eyes sparkle like amethysts.

"Thank you for agreeing to be my date," Subaru returns, again happy his words come out a bit cooler than he feels. His stomach goes into knots, as he sees an angelic smile form.

Kamui's expression beautifully blooms pink in a way that reminds Subaru of an elegant sunset.

"O-of course I would…" Kamui's voice goes a little mousey, he looks down again. "It makes me really… Happy." Kamui admits, eyes falling on and studying the swirling frosting on their desserts.

"I'm glad," Subaru returns. His arm returns to wrap around the slender boy's waist, tugging his beloved right to him. This kind of gentle intimacy and affection is returned. Kamui leans to the side, resting his cheek upon the taller male's shoulders.

It's a tender and wordless little moment. Even when their drinks arrive, Kamui sits up, but they stay seated as close as they were.

There was something nice about this level of affection, while simple, but still open. For others to see Kamui and him holding hands or cuddling up close at the table, brought a comforting heat. Insecurities regarding Kamui's feelings were fleeting.

"Here you are, one Dark Roast House special," the timid barista, silently places the hot drink and plate underneath on the table. He flushes a little at Kamui but doesn't press further. This time he looks Subaru in the eyes, a little apologetic and weary.

Subaru winced, a pang of guilt entering for his earlier jealousy. "Thank you," He greeted with a smile, although honestly, it was still a little irksome to see the young worker swoon over Kamui. The boy clearly had a crush on the violet-eyed teen, but he wasn't being pushy about his feelings. So it would be something the older man had to get used to. Especially now when he finally could call Kamui his.

"And one Vanilla Cream, have a great morning!" He finishes placing the sweet iced-coffee upon the table.

"Thank you," Kamui beams brightly, though there's a sense of joy coming from the sweet drink in front of him. "You too," Kamui says, leaning his head back to the taller man's shoulder.

The shorter male looks up at Subaru with loving and sparkling eyes. The look alone brings reassurance. 'I'm yours.' It seems to convey.

Subaru squeezes the hand in his own. He turns his head to whisper, sweet words of love. He can feel the hot cheek melting between his neck and shoulder.

"Love you," Subaru hushes tenderly into his boyfriend's reddening ear. Kamui shivers. Instinctively, the older of the two tightens the arm snaked protectively around his love. Their hips fully flush beside one another.

"I.."Kamui's lips shyly press together before curling right back up. "Love you too," He whispers his return fondly.

There's a lingering moment ahead. Emerald and gold meet violet-blue shimmering orbs. The younger of the two lean up, inching closer and closer. Though they pause, sounds of plates clinking and different coffee machines bring them out of their little bubble. Blinking they slowly come out of the haze. The pair briefly glances away, both flushing pink.

"You should try your coffee," Kamui gestures to the untouched drink. Fingertips dance along the side of the cup.

"Ah, then you as well," Subaru returns happily. His hand curls over the long elegant fingers.

Kamui bites on his lip, briefly wondering if he could get through this date without overthinking all those touches and kisses again.

Quickly, Kamui retreats his hand to grasp the handle of his cup of iced coffee. Honestly, the creamy vanilla drink was more of a glorified milkshake with a slight kick. That worked just fine for him. He didn't have his boyfriend's tolerance for bitter drinks.

"Mn," Kamui hums pleasantly at the taste. His lips stain with the white cream all over. Heated eyes follow the movement of a pointed pink tongue slipping out and licking his lips clean. It was done quickly enough, but to eyes experienced in admiring every inch of Kamui it couldn't be missed.

The admired male turned his head, meeting a loving but still quite heated gaze. While they were off in their own little corner, it would be best to keep this date without being too overt with their affections. Though anyone with eyes could see the pair were far from being friends or roommates.

It was their first date. There was a pleasant innocence just talking and being in each other's warmth.

Subaru's face, save for his eyes remained calm and neutral. It was a common look he'd given with others. Though there was nothing that could be suppressed when it came to love. Emerald and gold orbs darken, a shadowy hazy covers glossy eyes. This only contrasts better with the white lights dancing in gem-toned eyes.

Yes, Subaru could never hope to hide that feeling, not when he was with his beloved. Kamui's staring was a bit obvious, though innocent on its own. Subaru took his own warm coffee, concealing the fond grins and rise in his cheeks.

"Is it good?" Subaru asks simply. Watery orbs glisten with a deep hint of amusement. His younger boyfriend would close his eyes, and hum pleasant sounds as he took more and more sips.

"Mhmm," Kamui partially got out. His mouth is full with the next creamy sip of iced coffee.

Shyly, Kamui scoots the cup across the table. "Do… You want to try it?" He questions, lips parting and cheeks flushed from their closeness.

Bless, Kamui and the innocence he possessed.

"I would," Subaru keeps his voice softer, low, and a little alluring. He takes the handle of the cup and brings his lips right to the corner he saw Kamui's.

Well, perhaps an indirect kiss wasn't so embarrassing now. It shouldn't be, Kamui can't look away from dual-hued eyes holding his own with want. His mind loses focus, lips parting as Subaru places the cup down and guides it back towards its owner.

"It's sweet," Subaru comments, after a brief moment.

"So it's good then?" Kamui asks to clarify.

Subaru smirks a little at this. "Yes," He confirms, taking a brief glance around the shop. Seizing the moment, his finger quickly pressed against a plush lower lip, wiping the cream off. Assuring that Kamui's gaze remains on him, the same finger presses to his own mouth.

"Very much so." Subaru's tongue darts out to lap up the small dot of cream stolen from the other's lips.

"O-oh," Kamui squeaks, raising higher than normal. He squirms a bit in his seat. Reddening up to his ears, Kamui has to turn away.

"I-should get some napkins!" There's no wait for a response. Subaru is about to call after Kamui, but let's go. As cute as it was to see, he didn't want to push his beloved and make him too uncomfortable.

It was hard to feel entirely guilty. There was an unfamiliar desire to bring out more and more of those pretty reactions to the surface.

Subaru never had been one to pursue others in this manner. He did have the experience of spending years tracking down his first love, but there wasn't time for dates and sweet words of affection. Things were a bit more complicated and twisted when it came to his first love, not all soft and romantic. Although, there were more pleasant memories from that one-year, where he saw a tender, kind-hearted side to Seishirou. A side which he never knew if it could be considered purely a facade or himself had been one to flush over the tiniest things, even worse than Kamui.

Now, he could breathe a little easier, enjoying tender moments with his precious love. Yet, there was an unknown desire inside. Not to push things too far, but aside from that enjoyed gentle teasing. A side of him adored seeing Kamui blush and looked forward to hearing every sound and reaction Kamui could make when they were alone.

The younger male stalls over by one of the counters cooling his head. A gentle curl of lips entrances his date from afar. That paired with the scene of Kamui fondly pressing a finger to his lips, right where Subaru had touched, was assuring. His violet-eyed angel returned a little flushed but still seemed quite upbeat.

"I'm back," Kamui chirped cutely, noticing his boyfriend staring off. He plopped the tray of napkins on the table in front of them. Within the pile were two plastic forks, assumed to be for their oversized desserts.

"Good," Subaru says, testing the water again and Kamui's comfort zone. He places his hand on top of smaller ones. It's to his own surprise the younger man slid into the booth up until their hips brushed.

"Ah, you can try my coffee too if you'd like of course," Subaru hopes to smooth things out. There's a bit of worry Kamui wasn't too fond of the earlier.

The smaller male nods at this. He takes a breath for courage. Copying his boyfriend's actions he takes the warm mug into his hand. He presses the drink to his lips. With his other hand, he squeezes Subaru's tight, making them both fluster falling for the other's gaze.

When they pull away there's a little press of lips and as lips push down slightly.

"It's not so sweet," Kamui mimics the earlier commentary as best as he can. He scrunches up his face in a cute way reminiscent of a rabbit.

Subaru little plays along with the game heart fluttering a little too wildly at this scene. "Not so good?"

Kamui shakes his head a little. "It's not bad," he explains more. His hand waves around the array of the sugary treats on the table. "Just not sweet."

Subaru studies the younger man carefully. "I suppose you're right."

Kamui tilts his head to the side. "You usually have plain coffee or more bitter drinks. Have you always liked those?"

The curious question brings the two to a state of serenity. Earlier tensions and nerves dissolve.

"I guess I've gotten used to having them for long workdays. So the taste doesn't really bother me," Subaru clarifies and takes out one of the small plastic forks upon the napkin pile.

"I do like sweets," Subaru insists, with a fond quirk of his lips he smoothly ads, "Preferably made by you,"

Kamui wildly flares up, face crimson. How can this affect me so much? The shy smile he attempts to fight shows up entirely pleased. "Is that so…"

"Growing up, between my sister and I… She had more of a sweet tooth," Subaru divulges the information carefully. His eyes glisten a little bittersweet, going off into a world of simpler memories.

The hand trailing down his arm, keeps him grounded. Kamui is what's kept him going this far. After all, they have lost, their comforting connection was nothing short of a miracle. A miracle deemed by fate, to keep the heartbroken souls from shattering.

"Ah, well you've always been busy since you were a kid right?" Kamui ponders. "So you probably didn't have too much time to really indulge in things."

Subaru looks curiously over Kamui but hums whilst thinking over his words. "I guess so, Hokuto often got frustrated with how little sleep or nutrition I'd get…"

Then comes that same fond yet sad recollection. Lips aren't sure whether to quirk to a smile or sink to a pained frown.

"Subaru…" Kamui's hand brushes up and down his arm again. Longer fingers splay on top.

"But things are different now, I'm not overlooking myself, and… I Have…" Subaru pauses. How to phrase this without overtly gushing over his beloved. "Quite the motivator, who helps me become better.. "

Kamui catches that one. It sinks in. Caring for someone else again brought out an instinct to care for himself. They didn't have to sleep alone. They weren't left to their own devices and an empty dinner table.

"I'm glad," Kamui chimes in, violet-blue eyes brilliant and compassionate. "You definitely helped me countless times...and certainly with sleeping better…"

They were already quite compatible and experienced withholding the other and soothing through otherwise sleepless nights.

"And your sister...I know I can't say anything to her," What am I even saying? Kamui clenches his hands. "But she doesn't need to worry about the nutrition aspect…" Kamui clears his throat. Imploring dual-toned eyes pierce right into Kamui's heart. "Because I'm going to h-help...the best I can."

"You're not living alone anymore...and I really like learning about new things to cook for us...and well, learning them with you as well." We can live together...as a couple. Perhaps, that was an image some had of domestic bliss.

"So...you have me." It's a sweet vulnerable offer. "Always."

"I'm incredibly blessed to have you with me," Subaru agrees, brushing a strand of raven hair behind a sensitive ear. "Kamui."

There's that loving and sugary-sweet tone that makes Kamui's toes curl and body melt against the other.

"I can say the same." A pause follows, both of their minds little too flooded with the other to focus more.

"Ah, but… sweet tooth or not," Kamui adds on, coming back down to earth once more. "You did order a dessert today too. You should try it."

Subaru smiles fondly at this. "I will."

The eager starry eyes fall over the frosted chocolate cupcake. Violet-blue eyes dart from the fruity treat to Subaru's own chocolatey treat.

"You first," Subaru insists. Finger gently peel the liner around the large cupcake. A fork, one they'd undoubtedly share, dips into the side of the cake.

The small utensil is guided into Kamui's hand. The thought of sharing this kind of dessert more intimately at home brings out a pleasant shiver through the older man.

"If you say so," Kamui cooly says, shielding his earlier eagerness. Still, the sweet-smelling treat and an equally sweet-natured man beside him make it hard to feel anything but bliss now.

Soft bites of the various desserts follow up after Kamui. Alongside the pair slowly finishing their own drinks. Small talk follows over the different dessert types, daily banal tasks, and a few past memories.

Soft background music adds to the soothing atmosphere of the quaint Cafe.

The pair lose themselves in the simple yet charming scene. Right here, they can feel at peace, comfortably brushed up against the one they love.

A little more.

Returning home brought on an amorous mood. The inability to have the same level of privacy brought on certain frustrations and wants.

Right after the door closed behind the couple, arms embraced, pulling the other close. They flushed, bodies as close as possible without fully becoming one.

Kamui took a rare initiative. He leaned upon his tip-toes seeming a little frustrated before the taller male took the initiative to lean down. A hand cradled at the back of Kamui's raven head.

Soft pink lips pressed sweetly but insistently against each other. Warm breaths could be felt with every lingering parting before they pressed together again.

The generally more love-shy of the two made a surprising move, for them both. Not thinking through this, a soft pink tongue slipped out. It presses curiously against the flimsy seal between Subaru's lips.

Subaru's eyes open wide, brows raising at his cute boyfriend's initiative. It's a little too easy to indulge at this moment. Kamui was initiating and it seemed like a green light to no longer tease at it but kiss a little deeper than usual.

Though worry sets in. Subaru's hazy mind manages to stop himself to direct his hands to clasp onto Kamui's shoulders and pull him back.

There's frustration, and an almost growl escaping Kamui's lips at the denial. At sound that would be amazing if not for the crestfallen lips.

"Ka-Kamui?" Subaru stops himself. Tender violet-blue eyes shift down.

"I…" Kamui looks down at himself frustrated. "Was that not okay?" His voice comes out a little weak and guilty.

"It's not like that…'' Subaru steps out of his own shoes. He sweeps Kamui up in his arms. Lifting the smaller boy up with hands on his hips, and out of his shoes.

The taller of the two lean down further to adjust his grip around Kamui before fully carrying him off.

Subaru guides them along towards the more comfortable couch ahead. Kamui is gently plopped on the cushions.

"It's not that," Subaru reiterated, now that they're in a comfortable position. "I just want to be sure…" He continues on, eyes still a bit heated from earlier, honing in one his love. He recalls their first well first series of kisses but a week ago. "This is what you want… I don't want to get carried away or… Make you uncomfortable."

There's a pang of guilt and sadness shimmering in jewel-toned eyes. Kamui purses his lips together and quickly shakes his head.

"You don't," Kamui insists firmly. He cups both of the man's cheeks in his hands and presses their lips together firmly. The heat building up to go further pressed into Kamui again.

"I was just thinking…" Kamui starts off quietly, this was way more embarrassing than just trying to kiss a little deeper. "About b-before… "

"Before... " Subaru patiently waits, peppering little kisses on Kamui's cheeks.

"Th-the way we," Kamui took a breath calming his nerves. "... when we first started to k-kiss…"

"Yes?" Subaru's eyes widen, heating up. Gold and emerald burn into violet-blue that return that same feeling. It makes the older man swallow.

"I… want to try it again," Kamui takes a long breath, face on fire, and lips trembling. He shifts himself on the couch, lifting his legs and maneuvering to successfully straddle the older man's hips.

".. you know," Kamui felt his cheeks combusting, and it went even softer as hands grasped his hips. "K-kissing a little more…" He mumbles, going softer and softer with each word.

"O…" Subaru visually swallows, looking over Kamui once more for clarification. He didn't know what to do, unused to a heated look in usually innocent eyes. There was still that overwhelming shimmer of love amongst all the want. "Okay… "

The two lean in closer to one another. Kamui steadied himself to lean up, arms wrapping snuggly around the taller man's neck. Emerald-gold burns and melds into violet-blue as they inch closer. Their lips press, smooth and chaste like before.

The shyer of the two takes a slow but certain initiative. He feels hands and fingers squeezing the side of his hips a little further, making him keen.

Once more a soft pink tongue shyly slips out, licking at the thin seam between thinner lips. This time, those same soft pink lips part eager yet awaiting Kamui to set the pace.

The younger male makes little licks into the other's mouth. A hesitant tongue licks around the wet cavern, exploring gums, cheeks, and the roof of the older man's mouth.

"Mmnnn."

Kamui shivers at the feeling of a moan reverberating in his mouth. Subaru's ender lips press more passionately against plush pink lips, edging him on to continue.

The explorative tongue moves to lick and tease throughout the other's mouth. Little licks form near the bottom of the other's mouth. The tip of Kamui's tongue darting upon the other's wet organ. One that had until now stayed still, waiting patiently.

Heat flared up as their tongues brushed. Subaru's hand slid its way up a slender waist and found its home at the back of a raven-black head.

Tongues began slowly dancing and encircling one another. Lips pressed a little harder, more passionate as the pair experimented with different angles.

Subaru coaxed Kamui to tilt his head just a bit to make their kiss deeper. The meeker male moans his love's name. Words were all but devoured into the other's mouth. Careful and soothing lips seal the pair further together.

The kiss continues languidly. Soft pink lips, shift slowly caressing each other. Kamui's grip around his beloved's neck and shoulders tightens. The feeling of being loved up and ravished by a gentle yet loving tongue makes him go dizzy.

The languid pace and deep press and caressing lips make it last longer. They part for a brief break of air before sealing their lips together in gradually gentler, innocent kisses once more.

Kamui's eyes open very slowly. That same heat and desire burn in his beloved's eyes. For now, it's a little overwhelming. The younger love mewls as they kiss a few more times, now chaste.

"Kamui?" Subaru calls for him with concern. Quickly, after they parted Kamui dove into the other's arms. He buries his heated face into the protective man's neck.

"I'm fine," He yelps out, not exposing his reddened cheeks any further.

"I'm glad," Subaru comments tenderly. The hand still at his hip shifts. Fingers soothing trail up and down Kamui's back.

Subaru's pepper where they can reach the back of his shy boyfriend's head.

Though somewhat short-lived was a good step further. One of many that would inevitably come alongside with them growing closer.
