A/N: I know that I said that I was shifting my focus to The Phantom of the Empire, but I felt like I could add just a tiny bit more to this story before really getting back into the groove of things. Anyway, people have reviewed and given me their reasons for why they voted for certain choices, and I want to take a moment to address some of those reviews.

Guest: You know, you're right. In the show, we don't see nearly as many elemental quirks having to do with the water element. It's mostly been ice, fire, electricity, and on one occasion, air. Of course, it all depends on the poll which element ends up being Izuku's primary element.

Shadow Joestar: Well, it is true that the electric element is pretty cool. Again, we'll see what the poll gives us.

redmen6blight: Poison would immediately be considered a villainous quirk by the general public, but there's nothing wrong with that. There are plenty of heroes in MHA who look like villains, such as Gang Orca, so having a quirk that's supposedly villainous and becoming a hero would be a perfect way to stick it to those bigots!

Thealmightykoala: You're right, there aren't enough heroes with water-based quirks out there! The Water Hose Duo were the only known heroes, other than Backdraft, to have hydrokinetic powers, and they never even made an appearance! Their son, Kota, is the only example we have of those two's quirks in action. Again, it's up to the poll what element I'll end up choosing.

A/N Continued: I understand that you all may have your preferences for the main element that I use in this story, but as I said it all depends on the results of the poll. Everyone has until the end of The Phantom of the Empire to cast their votes. Anyway, with all of that out of the way, let's move on to the new chapter.

Origins of a Purple Dragon

Previously on Twin Dragon Heroes…

"Wh-What's going on? Wh-Wh-Who are you?" Izuku stuttered in fright.

The beast chuckled at the question.

"My dear boy… History has given me many names… But you may call me… Malefor."

Now…

Little Izuku was trembling as he stared up at the giant, flying reptile staring him down. It had to be standing at about twenty-five, maybe thirty feet tall at the shoulders and had an enormous wingspan. It was covered in purple scales with a crown of horns growing around his head from the centermost point of its face, and two larger horns growing behind those horns. It had a scar over its right eye, and the two largest horns on its head are marked with indents, possibly from combat, and two rows of horns grow out from its back. Its wings have two spurs that protrude from where the vestigial "thumb" claw would be, and the wing fingers seem to be slightly more lengthy than normal. Its tail ends in a double-ended spade, and it has long, sickle-like protrusions growing out from the top of each shoulder, along with one growing out from the back of each leg. Finally, it has three horns growing from its chin that resemble a goatee.

He took a step back, even though he was floating, whimpering from fear. The dragon sighed through its nose and spoke in a deep, masculine voice.

"There is no need to fear me, child. I'm not here to hurt you, though I suppose it's difficult to believe that with me looking like this. Allow me to fix that."

The mist of the void began to swirl around the dragon, Malefor, as Izuku recalled, and gradually he changed his appearance to be less threatening. Possibly when he was younger than his current state.

"Ah, that's much better, wouldn't you agree?" Malefor asked in a younger, more regal voice.

Now, Izuku was still scared of being confronted by such a big and extremely dangerous creature like a dragon, but he was much less scared now that Malefor no longer looked like he wanted to kill him(Izuku).

"Um, y-yeah…Tha-that's m-m-much better, s-sir." stuttered Izuku.

"Why are you talking funny, lad?" Malefor asked.

"I ca-an't help i-it. Whe-When I get n-nervous, I-I-I start st-st-st-stuttering." Izuku managed to reply.

"It's an understandable reaction, Malefor. To such a young hatchling like this little guy, we look like big, murderous lizards who want to chase him down and eat him." a new voice said.

The sound of huge, beating wings reached Izuku's ears and the child saw a majestic and terrifying sight. It was another dragon like Malefor, but it was different from him. This dragon was also fully grown, about the same size as Malefor, and like him it had deep purple scales though they seemed to be a shade or two lighter. And it had yellow, backward curving spines with a red membrane going from its head down the back of its neck, down its tail. It also had yellow plate scales on its underbelly, yellow-orange wings with red membranes, and a yellow triangle shaped spade at the end of its tail. Its body also had larger, more visible scales that were a darker shade of purple than the rest of its scales. Its eyes were also purple and had round pupils like a mammal.

"Hello, Izuku." the dragon said, also in a deep, masculine voice. "My name's Spyro. One of the soul imprints that inhabit your quirk."

"The what? Wait a minute, I have a quirk?" Izuku asked incredulously. "But the doctor said that because of my second toe joint that I'm quirkless!"

Spyro simply laughed and said, "That quack wouldn't know the first thing about truly diagnosing a quirk if it came up and punched him in the face! There's more to the development of quirks than an extra joint in a person's pinky toe. You and your friend Yang are just late bloomers is all and share very similar yet different quirks."

"It's true. You see, young Izuku, you and Yang possess quirks that predate the dawn of humanity. Power that makes even that All Might person look like a frail newborn in comparison, once you fully master your powers, of course." Malefor said.

"It can? So, what is my quirk?" Izuku asked.

Malefor and Spyro laughed as they laid down in front of Izuku, with Spyro pulling the child close to him with his tail and materializing solid ground for him to stand on.

"Your quirk, Izuku, is the very legacy of the dragons. A proud race of creatures that harnessed the power of the very elements that you see in nature all the time." Spyro said.

Izuku looked at them with wide eyes and asked, "You mean dragons aren't just a myth?"

"Well, it's true that the dragons aren't a part of everyday life anymore. But make no mistake, dragons are very real. But they sealed themselves away when humanity began to truly tighten its grip on the planet, and the magic that made our race strong began to slowly fade away." Malefor explained.

"What made the magic go away?" Izuku asked.

"No one really knows for sure. It started happening soon after I had passed on. And when it did, the cycle of the Purple Dragon ceased as well." Spyro replied as he began to explain. "You see, eons ago there was a legend that told of a special Purple Dragon, like Malefor and me, who would be born once every ten generations. This dragon had the power to learn and master every elemental power in existence, although they tended to be more strongly in tune with a single element depending on their parentage and would save the entire world from a great disaster. Malefor is an Earth dragon, and I myself am the classic Fire element dragon. When I embarked on my own journey to save our world, I freed and became the student of four dragon guardians who taught me their own styles of elemental combat."

Using his magic, Spyro created a sort of viewing window that showed his memories of the four guardian dragons who trained him. One was a fire dragon with red and orange scales, another was an electric dragon with yellow and blue scales with wing fingers that looked like lightning bolts, the third was a dragon that was an icy blue color, and the fourth was a green and brown dragon with horns like a ram, a strong, stocky build, and a wrecking ball at the end of its tail. He watched as these four dragons battled dark minions using control over the elements that the young lad had never seen before. Not even from the heroes he idolizes so much!

"Ignitus taught me how to truly harness my fire element in order to manipulate flames and create powerful explosions with them. Volteer taught me how to use electric breath in order to stun and shock the dickens out of my enemies. Cyril taught me how to use ice breath to freeze foes solid. And Terrador taught me how to use earth breath to shatter boulders and encase myself in a stone sphere with spikes jutting out of it to roll and bash my enemies. Like a spiky bowling ball of pain." Spyro further explained.

"And even after learning those elemental power, Spyro learned the one elemental power that can only truly be harnessed by a Purple Dragon." Malefor said.

Soyro grinned and said, "Yup. The convexity breath!"

"Aether." Malefor corrected.

"Convexity." Spyro shot back with a frown.

"It's Aether!" Malefor said with a little more force.

"No, stupid, everyone called it convexity!" argued Spyro.

"Ugh, okay, look, purple dragons like Spyro and I are able to access an elemental power that binds the energies of the living and the dead. I have extensively studied the notes left behind by the first dragon elders, and they called it… Aether. Eat that, Spyro!" Malefor explained while taking a jab at his fellow Purple Dragon.

Spyro just pouted and sent a glare at Malefor.

"Don't convex me, Malefor! True studious minds know I'm right!" he exclaimed.

Izuku was quiet during that whole argument, but eventually, like with anyone, his curiosity won the battle with politeness. Especially since he was told that he had a quirk that was connected to these dragons.

"But, um, sirs? What does any of this have to do with me? Or my quirk?" he asked.

"Because the world needs you, Izuku." Spyro said to the child.

"It does?" Izuku asked.

"The tenth generation has come. And the purple dragon is needed once again not just to save humanity, but to restore the magic of this world and raise the dragons from their slumber. And you have been chosen, Izuku, to be the next purple dragon!" Malefor explained. "The magic powers that are passed down to each new purple dragon manifested themselves within you as a quirk in order to not arouse suspicion within the general public until the time is right for the truth to be known. Spyro and I are imprints of our original selves left within the magic to guide and train you in your new powers, little one. So, you could say that your quirk is sentient, and has chosen not to fully manifest because your body isn't ready to handle the power yet."

"It's true. If you were to try and manifest your powers at your current age with no real training, you would literally be torn to shreds!" Spyro said, deadly serious.

Izuku couldn't stop himself from yelping as he pictured himself tearing apart limb from limb with blood flying everywhere. It was a truly morbid thought that no child should ever have to think about. But in this case, it was better that he was aware of the potential consequences.

"Our time here is up for the night, Izuku. But we shall speak again soon." Malefor said, noticing a shift in their environment.

"Awaken now, young one. Go forth, and may the ancestors guide you." Spyro said with a warm, fatherly smile.

Izuku slowly faded out of his mindscape as he started to wake up.

And boy, does he have a story to tell his mother and Yang when he does!

***To Be Continued…***

Ending A/N: Well, that's all I have for this chapter. But tune in next time to see how Izuku and Yang begin adapting to their new, semi-sentient quirks. And remember, you have until I complete The Phantom of the Empire to cast your votes for which dragon element should be Izuku's primary element for the design of his dragon form. Or, at least until I feel like I have enough votes. Thank you so much for reading! Please don't forget to leave a review and cast your votes if you haven't already, and I'll see you all next time!
