"Rachel!"

She looked back as Bam screamed for her. But there was no boyhood innocence, only the desperation of a man who had lost everything.

This was not the boy she had left behind in the cave. This was the man she had met on the battlefield, the one who took everything from her.

She smirked even when light filled her vision. The bright, bathing light of the gods filled her with such tender warmth, even as her heart curled with the cruel satisfaction of her ultimate revenge. Well, she would take everything from him.

She'll start with that insufferable Khun boy.

She closed her eyes as the Tower's light washed over her. Yes, she couldn't think of a better place to start.

xXx

Bam ran, his voice hoarse from screaming.

He was nearly blinded by the bright light, Rachel's form vanishing from view. No. What was she going to do? His mind ran with panic at what and who she would meet up there in his place.

She had succeeded. She had taken his place in their story. She would take what was his and twist it into hers to make herself the hero.

A flash of blue colored his vision. Protective red followed, the booming laughter of a leader, the warm touch of a friend's hand on his shoulder.

He gritted his teeth. No. He would not let them go. Not to her!

He shoved past Headon. "Out of my way."

He ran toward the steel eel. He would kill it with his own hands if he needed to. He did not know it was possible to feel hate towards Rachel. But the thought of her hand sliding into Aguero's palm, of Rak being there for her…

It sickened him.

If need be, he will become the villain in the story, just as Rachel always said he was.
