(Sam's PoV)

"Wake up, young dragon," a voice said to the unconscious Sam.

Sam got up: he was in some kind of temple, but the place was gloomy and the sky seemed like an endless void (something similar to the realm of convexity). The air felt strange, but at the same time calm.

"Hero of light, you must stop being afraid…" the voice told him again.

"Who are you?" Sam asked.

His voice didn't answer him immediately, but he took his time before answering:

"That fear turns into darkness that obscures your true power of light…"

The young dragon was speechless; whoever was talking to him was very right.

"I want to help my new friends" he answered, "But I promised my mom that I had to survive…"

"Nirelle wanted more than just to stay hidden…she wanted you were a spark of light back then. And a small spark can become a great glow…"

"I don't know if I could be…" the young dragon began, but then he realized something: "Wait! How do you know my mother's name?"

There was a minute of silence. Then the voice said:

"If you really want to know, you must blinks three times."

Sam didn't understand why, but wanting to have answers, he did. When he opened his eyes for the third time, the scene had changed: now, he was in a large library illuminated with a blue glow that gave off a huge hourglass.

"Where I am?" he asked.

"You are welcome, Sam" the voice replied. A dragon appeared behind the great clock: it was a gray dragon with pale blue eyes, darker colored wings with pale, battered membranes, dark gray spines and tail spines. His horns were bronze in color. He also wore a dark blue cloth adorned with light blue symbols and a brown necklace around his neck with bright blue crystal.

"Who are you?" Sam asked, "How do you know about my mother?"

"They know me as the Chronicler" the dragon replied, "As for your question about why your mother is with you, it is because no fact escapes my knowledge..."

Saying so, he pointed to the huge number of books that he possessed.

"These books narrate events that occurred in the past, present, and bits of the future," he explained, "I know everything you've experienced. An interesting fact has also been written: the appearance of those young dragons who are your friends. And I know they used the scroll of time. The most important thing is that they need you."

"But I can't help you... I can only use my light to heal, I'm useless to fight"

However, the Chronicler answered him.

"I don't only know about your mother because of my interest in books" he told him, "Believe it or not, she was my sixth descendant"

Sam froze at that revelation. He then turned his gaze to look directly at the ancient dragon.

"Before, I was a dragon of light," the Chronicler explained, "My values for my friends gave me my power to the point of fighting with them despite the consequences. We always won, but we learned new things in every battle. When my life ended, the previous Chronicler named me as his successorand. Since then, I have been in charge of this immense task. A great advantage of this work is that you can observe the history of your descendants until you find someone worthy to take your place. You are my seventh descendant"

"So…" Sam tried to say.

"Yes, we are family…" the Chronicler replied.

Sam felt like crying, because he hadn't felt like a family since he lost his parents. But there he was, one of his ancestors, talking to him. The Chronicler embraced him, but said calmly:

"However, you cannot stay with me, your place is elsewhere and in another time..."

"But how can I power my light?" asked the young dragon.

"They are already giving you power…" replied the Chronicler, blowing up a book and opening it in front of them.

The pages it displayed were blank, but in the blink of an eye they were filled with images and letters. In one image, he was unconscious and Aurora was fighting with the dark ape. In another image, Nina, Drago, Rayla, Ash, and Flint were fighting the scythe ape twins.

"This is happening now," the Chronicler explained, "Your friends are fighting to save the eggs. After you were shot down, your friend tries to protect you because those apes not only want to destroy the eggs, but also want to destroy all the light dragons."

"But if I fight, what if I lose?" Sam asked.

"If you don't try, you'll never know. Sam, destiny is not written in books; each of us are responsible for creating them. Yes, sometimes good or bad things happen to us because that is how they should happen. But they are also forged by our own decisions….

With his words, the environment where Sam was changed again and he was in the dark and destroyed temple. The Chronicler's voice asked:

"Will you keep running and hide from those who pursue? Or will you be the spark of light that will save new friendships and bring back the light of the future?

Sam closed his eyes and felt the desire to help his friends, to fight for a cause, to bring light... Without him noticing, his scaly body was beginning to glow and emanate light energy. Putting a paw forward, he gave his answer:

"I am not going to run away or surrender against the darkness… I want... no, I am going to help my friends!"

With it, the ground he had stepped on glowed white and the brilliance spread to the place, transforming the fragmented ground into a neat white one and the fallen columns into massive white walls.

"Well done…" the Chronicler told him, "Your mind has been freed from limitations. Now, you possess something beyond your senses… Have your mana become a powerful flash, like a shooting star… wake up, inner light…"

(Meanwhile…)

Astherious was clearly somewhat weaker than the Dark Ones the Skylanders had faced in the past. However, the hardness of his weapon and his powers, plus the fact that Aurora was not supported by anyone else, was costing her the fight.

"Blizzard Storm!"

The great ice dragon hit the Asther's axe. The weapon froze, and Aurora thought she had won, but the ape swung the ax and the thread came undone.

"This is obsidian" explained Asther, "You can never freeze it"

Aurora was not going to give up. Taking a look at the weakened Eira, Cynthia and Sybilla, she had to fight. Then she, transforming her tail into an ice blade, she lunged at Astherious.

"You fool..." Astherious muttered, blocking Aurora's ice attack and breaking her blade, "You won't be able to break it either..."

Then, he grabbed her by the neck so fast that she couldn't dodge.

"Got you," Astherious told her as he grabbed her by the neck and tossed her, "Time to stop playing games…"

Raising the axe, Aurora braced herself for the worst. But just as he was about to strike at her, a light flashed, and Sam stepped in, holding the ax in both front paws.

"Sam!" Aurora yelled.

"You…" Astherious told him, "Good… so I can extinguish another of your kind…"

"I don't want to run away anymore, not when I have friends I want to accompany" Sam replied making his mana shine, "They are with me and I know we will win together"

Saying that, he hit him in the face with his tail. Astherious stepped back. Sam prepared his attack: emanating as much light mana as he could, it spread out in such a way that it reached the snake necklaces of the three guardians and they changed from fiery green to dull gray.

"Well…" Cynthia said as she regained her strength and grabbing her necklace, she tore him to pieces.

The other guardians did the same. Sybilla watched with happiness how her student was now decided. Sam proceeded to attack Asther.

"Star rain!"

A series of lightning bolts at an extraordinarily fast speed hit Asther's axe, who defended himself with all he could. The brilliance of the attack made him blind to his sight and made him lose his balance little by little. He knew he couldn't take much...

The attack stopped. The beams of light had driven the ape back a few meters and his ax was beginning to emit white smoke. Sam stopped shining and the dragons were next to him. Asther started to laugh.

"Hahaha," he said, "you couldn't break my big axe. Now, I will kill you all…"

"Do you really think that weapon protected you?" asked Sybilla.

Astherious didn't understand. But then, his great weapon began to crack and it was torn to pieces. And not just his weapon… his armor was also cracking and shattering like glass. He found it hard to believe, but that attack had not only been fast, but powerful as well.

Later, the worst came for him: his stomach began to ache as if he had been hit with a strong blow, this was followed by his shoulders, legs, his chest... his whole body began to ache. Panting and in pain, he fell to his knees.

"It's not possible..." he said.

"You won't hurt the eggs," Sam said, coming closer, "They are the best hope for us and the worst threat to your master. Nor will you extinguish all the light that there is, it will always exist no matter how small it is…"

Then, the young dragon glanced at Sybilla, who nodded to him. Turning his gaze to Asther, he reignited his mana.

"Star Extinction!"

Sam imitated Sybilla's attack, and in the blink of an eye, he had made the ape general disappear. When everything was calmer, the young dragon felt a strong hug coming from Aurora.

"I'm glad you're okay..." she told him, blushing a little when she released him, "I think I owe you two already."

"Thank you for trusting me and caring me..." he looked into her eyes, "...so much"

"Spectacular Sam" Sybilla interrupted them, "I see you're ready to fight now"

"Thank you very much for your teachings, master Sybilla…"

Before they could say anything else, the sound of a nearby explosion interrupted them: the fight was not over yet and the others needed help.

"We must go help them" Aurora indicated and Sam prepared to fly after her. But before they left, Sybilla stopped him.

"Sam, wait…" she said as she pulled out a small white gem from under his wing, "Take this, it belonged to the ancient white dragons. I've never been interested in using it, but it will give you the help you need."

"Thank you, master Sybilla..." Sam told her upon receiving it, "I swear I'll take care of it"

"Actually, it will take care of you"

Sam didn't understand those words, but the sound of battle was calling them. So, together with Aurora, they flew in the direction of the forest.

(Meanwhile…)

The other Skylanders were exhausted from fighting, but he was on all fours, just like the twins with the scythes. Half the forest had already been cut down.

"They are very strong…" Ash said.

"We can't give up" Nina inspired them, "Remember that we can also push the limits..."

The twins were going to attack, but Aurora and Sam arrived then.

"Aurora…" her brother said to her, "Sam? Why aren't you premiering?"

"Excellent!" one of the apes told them, "Another little dragon to play with!"

"Look at his scales," his twin told him, "He's white. We will get a great reward if we kill him…"

Sam was now ready to fight. So, putting on his forehead, he said to them:

"Fine, if you want me... I'll fight"

But, to his aid, the white gem Sybilla had given him earlier had begun to glow in response to Sam's mana. The latter squeezed it tightly in his right paw, which made the gem shine even brighter. When the glow faded, Sam was clad in marble-white and gold armor consisting of a set of helmet, bracers, and tail guard.

"This is... Master Sybilla's ancestor's armor?" Sam asked seeing how great it looked on him, "Woah…"

The others present were also amazed, except for the two apes.

"That armor won't protect you..." one of the apes told him, "Would it, Sioux?"

"Sure Dayx"

Both apes began to turn again.

"Whirlwind of Twin Scythes!"

Sam turned his senses towards the enemy and thanks to the armor along with his mana, he emanated so much energy that it seemed like a bluff from a distance.

"Supernova Explosion!"

A huge dragon of light emerged from the mana expelled by Sam and entered the whirlpool of twins. Instantly, it exploded causing a large explosion of light and vanishing the two apes in the process. After finish, there was no trace of them.

"Woah Sam" Aurora told him, "By the way, that armor looks good on you…"

"Eh..." replied this somewhat blushing, "Thank you very much"

However, the noise of a whistling made them stop looking at each other: Ash was whistling while the others were looking at them.

"And I thought Drago and Nina were the couple of the century..." Ash mentioned.

"It's not funny, Ash. You're talking about my sister" Drago demanded.

"Hey, I'm just saying what I think"

"Well, try to change those opinions and make an effort if you want to have a partner" Nina laughed.

"What?! Why you...? You know what? Forget what I said"

They all started laughing.

(Later…)

The young dragons remet the guardians. It was only a few kilometers to LunaVillage.

"We can go on from here," Sybilla told them, "You've done enough to escort us out. Surely you have even more important missions…"

Sybilla winked at the Skylanders, making it clear that she, apparently, knew her secret, but she would keep it. Relieved, Cynthia said goodbye to Nina.

"Good luck, Nina" she told her "Say hello to your mother and tell her that she must be proud of the daughter she has"

"Don't worry, I'm sure she knows" Nina told him.

(And also…)

Eria was saying goodbye to Drago and Aurora.

"You may seem like very different brothers, but you are closer than I expected," she told them, "Keep it up. Oh, and Aurora… I think you have a future… How do I said it? resplendent"

Aurora blushed at that comment while Drago laughed to himself.

After saying goodbye, the dragons took flight in the direction of LunaVillage while the young people watched them leave. When they were finally alone, Drago spoke.

"Sam," he told him, "you are officially a Skylander to all of us. But from here, everything will become more difficult, can you handle it, friend?

"There is a time to run and fight one more day" replied Sam, "Enough of running, it's time to fight... count on me"

So, everyone put their paws together in a circle of friends. Next, Nina took out the scroll of time. Everyone held each other's claws tightly as she said:

"50 years ahead!"

As before, the scroll glowed again and they all disappeared.

(For his part, in the Malefor's mountain of the past…)

"They have failed, my lord" a lesser ape was saying to Galu, "Astherious and the twins are dead"

"It doesn't matter," Galu replied, rising from his throne, "These young dragons are no longer important. Our ape scouts that we sent to the dragon temple confirmed that the purple dragon's egg is there. Assemble my army, we will attack the temple tonight…"
