Resurrected Enemies

The areas near the Malefor mountain were very different from other terrains. It was about the same extent as the Avalar Valley, but it was rocky terrain and filled with huge pillars of black rock. The remains of the vegetation were dead: dry gray bushes and trees… lifeless. The weather was at least a little better: during the Eternal Night, the place was under horrible hail-nine weather. Now, it was clear of precipitation, but the black clouds made it seem like night in the middle of the day.

In the lifeless fields, a vast army of darkness was waiting for the army of light. It was at least three times the size of those that had attacked before. To begin with, there were at least fifty Trolls, almost two thousand ground and flying grublins, a thousand Orcs between fighters and archers. On the pillars, three of the last five Dark Ones were present. This time, they too were prepared with obsidian armor and dark gems.

"They are coming" one of they said when he saw the edge of the land where the lifeless soil began to turn green and alive.

The army of dragons, moles and cheetahs had arrived. When they saw the armies face to face, there were a few minutes of calm which were interrupted by murmurs from the army of light.

"They outnumber us…" some dragons said.

"This is serious…" said others.

"It seems that our army is beginning to have doubts if we can handle this..." Ray inquired.

"Perhaps, but this may be the best chance to stop them," Thorr replied, "Our chance to bring peace..."

However, the conversation was interrupted, as a roar from the Wyverns and Trolls warned them that he was ready to attack them: the dark army was advancing towards them. Now was the time.

"Ready?" Spyro asked Johnny.

"Ready" he replied, "Let's start with phase one..."

Spyro and Johnny charged forward along with several fire dragons after letting out a battle roar. When they were close to the dark army, they all released flames to create a great wall of fire that slowed down the enemies for a few minutes.

Then, with a signal from Spyro, Thorr and another group of ground dragons with cheetahs on their backs began phase two: from the sky, they began shooting arrows and earth missiles to do heavy damage to the enemy front. The orc archers attacked as well, but thanks to the hard scales of the earth dragons, it was like trying to nail an arrow into a rock.

Phase two seemed to be going just as they had planned, until a dark shadow rose towards them… towards Thorr who had Hunter on his back. The dragon, recognizing one of the Dark Ones, caused Hunter to leap towards his other companions just as they collided with him.

Thorr held the dark one in his claws. He was excited at how strong the dragon was.

"You seem very strong…" Perses laughed, "Okay, let's see how tough you are…"

Pulling Thorr along, he swooped him into an area of the battlefield. The others could see his partner fall several meters away. Ray tried to go help him, but Cynder stopped him:

"We must hold the position. Thorr is quite resistant, he will survive "

Ray immediately understood his mistake and returned to his senses on the battlefield: the catapult towers had appeared and it was not prudent to attack from the sky, since the earth dragons were beginning to show difficulties in dodging and defending.

"Meadow!" yelled Spyro flying close to them, "We need to destroy the towers!"

One of the dragons, Seth, used his earth powers to search for an area where the army could pass through.

"Ready," he said, "East side, where the pillars are taller. The concentration of enemies is low"

With that information, Ray and a group of dragons attacked the east side of the battlefield hoping that the cheetahs could infiltrate the towers and destroy them. But when they were starting to cross after taking down a couple of Trolls, another shadow appeared: Akuma, another of the Dark Ones.

"Chief Meadow," Ray told him, "I'll take care of him. You guys continue, our army won't get very far with those towers active."

"Be careful, my friend" Meadow replied before marching along with the rest of the cheetahs through the dark army.

"You seem to have confidence in the weak ones" Akuma said to the guardian of electricity, "They won't be able to reach the towers"

"Their will is strong, they will achieve it" Ray replied, preparing to fight, "Trusting our allies ensures victory"

Akuma also braced himself as he said: "We'll see about that…"

(For his part, in front…)

The fire from the front line was gone, it was time for phase three: attack. Cynder and Edel together with the army, advanced towards the already weakened second line (the air attack knocked down the first) to support the fire dragons and Spyro that kept them at bay.

Both armies collided in a massive attack. Although the mission was to defeat the other army, Spyro and his friends had the goal of getting to where the huge dark gem began to grow from the remains of the dark mountain, so they concentrated on making their way.

Cynder and Edel tried to get through four Trolls. One of them tried to attack Cynder, but Cynder quickly dodged it with her shadow ability. Then she attacked him back.

"Shadow Dragon!"

The attack took down two of them with one blow, it was evident that Cynder had grown stronger over the years.

"Freezing Blizzard!"

The ice attack left the other two Trolls frozen for a few seconds. Then, the ice guardian quickly went through them, tearing them to pieces. When she met Cynder, she told him:

"Excellent friend!"

But before she returned her thanks, a dark blizzard attacked them: a Dark One, Darkcel, was approaching them at high speed.

"Wall of ice!"

Edel used his defensive technique to protect herself from the attack, but Darkcell easily broke it with the blades on both front legs, they were like an extension of his spikes and had them all over his body. Both dragons knew they had to defeat him to move on.

"We are not afraid of you" Cynder yelled at him, "We have already defeated several enemies"

"So you think…?" Darkcel laughed, emanating his gloomy mana of darkness, "How about you ask them if they like being dead…?"

Digging his spikes into the ground he shouted:

"Dark Resurrection!"

Bolts of black electricity raced across the earth. Then something sprouted from it: a claw. Then the body of a skeletal ape came up out of the ground. It was almost like a zombie. Thenn Cynder swallowed as she recognized the green eye. It was Gallu.

The ape general did not speak and only snorted like an angry beast, more like a puppet that Darkcel controlled. But, Galu's appearance was accompanied by others: Simian, Skabb, Snite and Astherious, each with their respective weapons as old as his bodies.

"Them again..." Edel muttered, "Be careful, Cynder."

"I've got your back," Cynder backed him up.

(Meanwhile…)

A couple of kilometers from the battlefield, a light appeared out of nowhere. Then all seven Skylanders fell to the ground.

"Well," Ash complained, "This is the worst way to travel in life."

"I completely agree" Rayla supported him.

"With me we are three" said Flint, "Thank goodness we didn't ate a lot before traveling"

"Guys look" Nina told them.

The others moved closer to see the scroll of time unraveling, as if it were burning in some kind of white fire, its ashes rising into the sky.

"It served its purpose, I suppose," Aurora inquired, "After that, I suppose the scroll itself is considered worthless. I'm sorry Sam."

"Don't worry, I'll want to integrate here after helping you" the new one replied, "For example, what place is this?"

They all turned their eyes: it was the field, but not the forest or the city. However, Drago sniffed the air and detected something:

"I can sense fire in that direction," he pointed to the west, "Flint, what can you tell us?"

Flint dug his claws into the earth. After a few seconds he said:

"Apparently, they have entered the final battle… the army of the guardians against the dark one and… what?! I detect the energy of five Dark Ones! and… hell it gets worse: there is an even more powerful presence rising from the ruins of Malefor Mountain!"

The rest looked at each other very concerned.

"There is no time for reconnaissance in the city," Nina declared, "We must help our families and stop the Dark Master forever."

"We are with you" Drago supported him and everyone also agreed.
