Notes: So this final chapter/will be split into parts. I am planning these two parts but it depends on how long I end up writing my final scenes, but I will be updating the next part sooner than usual in a week or so as I have finished a lot of it. ^_^
Anniversary Finale for this story that's held such a place in my heart writing over nearly two years. Fluff and reflections of their relationship until this point. The fluffiest fluff to ever fluff! Kamui and Subaru work towards healing and celebrating a monumental event in their relationship. The Anniversary chapter for them with some added scenes in between detailing Kamui's desire to share his power with Subaru. ^^
Transference of Power
Once again a lingering topic resurfaces.
"Your power is sacred." Subaru seemed unrelenting on this matter. He had consistently been pointing this out, every time the topic rises.
"I understand that," Kamui sighed, lines rising on his forehead, frustrated. Violet-blue eyes wince slightly. With such tension in the air, agitation grew. "And it's my power, which means I can decide to do what I want with it."
"Yes, but a power that saves the world… it's not something to waste on just me…" Subaru's insecurity never failed to hit Kamui where he felt it most.
"Do you still not see how important you are to me?!" Kamui refuses to hold back on this one. His hand squeezing tight to the center of his chest. Boldly, he declares with an assurance he dreams he could have been the leader of the Dragons of Earth. "You are every bit as important to me as the world! If not...even more so. honestly more than anything!"
While his heart felt a clutch at such words proclaimed, he couldn't calm his nerves. "But…Kamui if you needed more power to protect yourself or if-"
Clouded judgment, makes it hard to hold back storming feelings.
"Those are all what ifs." Kamui bursts out, eyes narrowing with a watering intensity. His gaze fixated below Subaru, as though there was an unseen entity causing harm and doubt to his lover's mind.
"I've spent my life believing my power would change the fat of the world. Never having a choice… If I can help you even the slightest, and connect us deeper with my power then that's what I choose to do."
There's a frustrated sigh following up. He vaguely realizes even what he's doing… so frustrated by his beloved's misguided perception of himself. He does recognize this as another rare (and one-sided) lover's quarrel.
"What matters to me is…" Kamui takes a deep breath, realizing his lover is shrinking in his seat. His breathing slows, his voice turning to a much calmer tone.
'I need to be more patient with this…'
Giving into a need for closeness, the petite yet powerful male lunges forward, nearly tackling his lover to lay back on the love seat.
In a softer, more gentle display, his hands caress a tender cheek. His legs straddle his lover's sides. One hand travels, resting over the pinned man's throbbing heartbeat. Amorously, Kamui leans in closer, partially spread out over his love. He takes another calming breath.
"What matters to me is…" Violet-blue eyes shimmer and gloss with unbridled affection, as one hand remains to hold a gentle cheek.
"You, Subaru. You and only you."
Breathless. There was no further way to describe it. Breath hitching and shaking, the raw emotions sink deep within Subaru's core. His dual-colored eyes quiver along with his lips.
"Kamui…"
Feeling Kamui's puffs of breath this close is doing nothing but amplifying the feeling. For someone he loves… to so openly display this kind of affection.
"How did I ever get this lucky?" Subaru thinks this aloud, only realizing as he sees Kamui immediately flare up to a deep scarlet. But he doesn't let the younger man relent, not after taking him this far.
A hand cradles the back of a messy raven head. Fingers soothingly comb between the locks, smoothing, detangling, and eventually settling.
With absolutely no resistance, he pulls Kamui's head down the remaining distance. Plush lips brush and meld with each other.
"I have my concerns but…" Subaru compromises, "I will consider this even more seriously… if it means that much to you."
"Thank you," Kamui gives into the addictive pull, leaning into his lover's hand, his touch, and following where it would go. "It does mean a lot."
"Alright," Subaru relents, despite his quivering tone, he's serious. Gold and emerald eyes steel beautifully.
For a moment Kamui envisions an alternate world. Where he can be the one to offer his Subaru part of his vision. They can see the world through each other's eyes.
The vision of a beautiful emerald green paired with his own violet stirs a pleasant shiver in Kamui's core.
Considering Subaru was this resistant to simply taking in a bit of his power, he was certain the idea would be shut down. To accomplish such a feat, there must be some price. And offering may be misinterpreted as him finding something wrong with his beloved as though he were not perfect to him as he is now.
I want to share this part of myself. Kamui reasons, knowing his power was overflowing, and easily could be transferred to hive his lover more strength. Mental strength to know he would never be alone.
The thought alone of finally giving back what Subaru selflessly gave him that promised day… is beautiful.
"Kamui?" Subaru worries, gentle fingers brushing under his lover's eyelids. His own eyes grow wide and shake. "You're crying… What's wrong?"
Kamui feels his heart storming inside its confides, this could be a monumental moment in their relationship, connecting them on every level. A terrible fondness curls over his lips, raising his cheeks foolishly. "It's not something bad… the thought of us becoming even more connected makes me happy."
With a small ten smile, watering violet eyes, and teary red cheeks, lips close over his soothingly. Just like that Subaru knows his heart's decided. Nothing could come close to Kamui's happiness. Subaru was certain.
'I guess…It's not such a bad thought, having a piece of you inside me.'
~Planning~
'Just a few weeks left.' Even the thought pulls Kamui through the week. Exams, anxieties, and the emotional ups and downs he and his lover have gone through…none of that would douse the hopeful flame, burning brighter, the sooner they come to that special day. Simply the anticipation alone-making plans with his lover, was enough to make his heart soar.
Thinking back, brought emotions of their first year as boyfriends, and the past year and a half living together. The latter involved healing from a heartache he was uncertain he'd ever make it through- a healing process he knew he would always feel sorrow for…but selfish or not he couldn't sacrifice this miraculous chance at happiness, being with Subaru.
But his reasoning, that pure drive pushing him to keep going, day in and day out, had to be Subaru. More than anything he needed to evoke Subaru's long-deprived sense of happiness. He couldn't lie in misery forever…wouldn't let the life his belated love had given him go to waste.
The euphoria of experiencing requited love, not obstructed by fate, became like nothing Kamui had felt before. The world around him shines more vividly. It's as though he's finally seeing color for the first time.
Celebrating the time when they are a couple, which honestly, had to (and continues) be the best time in his daily life.
Now, Kamui remains right here, sitting across from his boyfriend on a comfy booth cushion.
So very "strategically" they planned for anniversary plans over a tall, delectable ice cream sundae. The tall glass between them is full of scoops of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry all stacked together. The whipped cream, caramel, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and a cherry on top… a sweet lover's dream.
Subaru and Kamui didn't have the same affection for sugary treats, but it still made for a nice treat to share… and an excuse to move in close. The small diner made for a cute date night and being a school night they hadn't had to worry over crowds.
They happened to have a certain topic to converse about that never failed to lift their spirits, and push away worries.
"You know there is a pretty special event coming up?" Kamui asks leaning forward over the table, long eyelashes fluttering,
"Oh, really?" Subaru plays coy, as though his heart hadn't memorized the day since they finally became a couple. The growing love between them never ceased, not since they first met, only now of a deeper kind.
"Really," Kamui stands up a bit from his seat, leaning over the table for a discreet brush of lips. "A very special day I could never forget."
"Nor could I," Subaru disperses from the playful facade. Honest, shining eyes, lock upon their favorite sight. "Never."
Subaru lovingly grasps Kamui's hand from across the table. "Being with you has made me happier than I could ever say…" Reflective, his mind spurs an image of his first love, the pained memories shattered like glass bringing his mind to the here and now.
'Love is a powerful force. Not always for the worse…this time for all the better.'' Subaru believes this, glossy eyes fixate upon elegant, unwavering orbs of violet. Love holds the power not just to bring pain and sorrow, but such light and happiness. 'You were the one who taught me that.'
As though Kamui can sense the words, he reacts, feeling something extra intense at the way his lover's eyes followed him. "So where would you like to go?"
Sparkles glow more at the words. "I think I should be asking you that." Subaru lightly interjects, lips curling to a small smile. "I'm already blessed to have you as mine. I'm happy going wherever you like."
"I don't doubt you're fine with going wherever but… " Kamui flushes at the lovey words, wants to indulge in the butterflies inside, but still couldn't relent. "You're important Subaru." Their fingers mingle sliding between the gaps and lacing perfectly. "It's our Anniversary trip, after all, so we both have a say."
"Our anniversary," Subaru revels. ''My heart can't be this weak…' Spouting such tender words, confirming this conversation was indeed 's sweet voice stirred his very soul, even just with his more habitual use of words 'we' or 'ours'. All the little things he was taking it all in. "Ours…" he murmurs, nearly silent. "I'd still like to hear your thoughts on this first."
Kamui frowns a little at the selfless gesture. He starts vaguely enough. "Maybe we should decide on where would be best to go?" He decides it's a starting point and takes a big spoonful of ice cream smothered in whip cream. "There is always a lot to see in Tokyo. Kyoto is also beautiful…"
"Okinawa," Subaru proposes the option, to their growing list. His eyes visibly brightened, snorting then smiling at the cute expression. He spots a dot of whipped cream upon the tip of Kamui's nose. As though it were commonplace, he licks the cream off his fingertip, looking his lover in the eyes with fondness. He decides it to be far sweeter than what he tried a moment ago. Satisfied, he further supplies, "We didn't get a chance to visit the place as a couple.
"Maybe," Kamui notes, with some hesitation. While the intimate gesture stirred something inside, pinkening his cheeks, his mind focused more on their last trip over… 'I did like the idea of a beach date there…' But their last trip brought on some less than favorable moments. Their last job was draining… "It might be nice going somewhere new?"
"Where do you have in mind?"
"Nothing in particular but… well I guess it's difficult to narrow down…"
Kamui scratches his cheek a little, thinking further on it. "You've already taken me so many places and different types of dates… so it's a little tricky."
"And very nice memories with them," Subaru smiled at this, "I think we will be able to figure it out."
"There's also the Spring Festival…I'd like to stop by for our school's festival. I have… some fond memories from last year. " Glittering violet orbs sparkle at the thought.
"Oh? Is it the same time as last year? "
"It's a little different from last year, CLAMP school is holding different events for each week. Kind of like mini-festivals of the week, but I thought it could be a fun place to visit. They'll have their 'famous' maze of roses too…"
"That brings back memories…," Subaru expresses, a gentle curl slips over his lips. He's unconsciously reaching for Kamui's hand. The latter takes it as a sign or opportunity to lift his hand, scooping from the dessert and bringing it to his lover's lips.
"Of course, I'd love to go to the festival with you…" He parts his lips tasting the sweet dessert offered.
"I think it'll be nice…" Kamui mentions softly, and reflects, 'So long as we can get some privacy…' Away from the groups of adoring fans, looking at them both as though they were idols. Shown being together somehow only seemed to double their fans.
"We did make wonderful memories there," he ensures, eyes sparkling, eyelids drifting dreamily. All that emotion catered to Kamui's direction. "You took my breath away when I first saw you, all dressed up in your Yukata."
"We'll.. w-w-we I-I guess…we have CLAMP school to thank for setting those things up …." Kamui reddens at the tender compliment, and feels the tug on his hand. "You looked gorgeous as usual…" He professes, happy to see a little trail of pink at his very direct flirtation.
"I was so nervous about telling you how I felt… it was hard to think of anything else," Kamui admits, flushed and abashed.
"I knew there was something up… had I known what was on your mind, I'd ease those worries."
"Well, you did technically confess first, so I didn't have to worry… "
"I'd never want you to worry. I've been in love with you for… longer than I probably realized," Subaru confessed seriously, before offering another admittance. "I do feel bad… I did like seeing you flustered… even if I didn't know exactly why… It was cute."
"It wasn't cute! I was so nervous…" Kamui openly sulks, at the statement, attempting to stick to this feeling. And not to melt at his lover's words. His retort comes out weakly. "But anyway… It'll Be nice to stop by at least one of these days.."
"It sounds lovely," Subaru chimes in, idly playing with the slender hand wrapped within his own.
"Yes," Kamui can't help but think of admirers they drew in, and his friends knowing glances. "Although it could be nicer…to be somewhere we can have time for alone time, for our anniversary day."
"I'm certain we can make time for plenty of that," Subaru ensures, tone obviously suggesting more. "If we went out of town, we could spend the whole day out, and find a hotel, maybe one with a scenic view."
"That might be nice, somewhere new… " Kamui hums over the suggestion, thinking it through. He scoops up a quick spoonful of ice cream in front of him. "I'm sure Yuzuriha would be happy to watch Hana again."
"She does seem to be a natural with cats," Subaru notes, with light amusement. The young and vibrant girl certainly had an energy about her drawing in new animal and human friends. "Maybe an overnight trip then? "
"Yeah, that could make it really special and I like Tokyo… But also the idea of going somewhere new with you…" 'Gives me butterflies…'
"We'll have to look into different prefectures…and events this time of year," Subaru suggests.
Kamui mulls it over. "I'm sure we'll find something."
"Maybe we can narrow it down by activities… is there anything you'd like to do or see in particular?"
"Not really…" Kamui shakes his head, certain. "I guess I just am still taking it in…it's been nearly a whole year now."
"I can understand the feeling…" Subaru sweetly returns, taking Kamui's outstretched hand and bestowing a soft kiss. "And it's the first of many…"
"I love that…" Kamui's words spill out, yearning, helpless. He leans across their table giving in to the desire to return that kiss, joining their mouths together. A sweet kiss.
Violet-blue eyes fall helplessly into a sea of gold and emerald. It was all too easy, losing themselves in each other's eyes. The connection draws them in and closer.
Kamui dreamily takes a spoon of cream, pressing it to his lover's lips. Subaru helped return the gesture, relishing in the peaceful moment.
Plans are still left in the making, but certainly hopeful.
Anxiety
While Subaru spent so much of his time and work alone… he at least knew he did have a clan, and his family to call if he had questions. And going as far as to transfer even a tiny portion of Kamui's sacred power inside him, that was something he preferred advice upon.
Subaru wouldn't lie that he loved some of his power had become embedded inside Kamui. For some time now he picks up the house phone and dials a well-memorized number.
Meanwhile, a phone rings in a home on the Sumeragi estate. "Hello? Subaru? " A familiar voice came through the line.
"Yes it's me… is this a bad time?" Subaru asks, a little anxious.
"Not at all I'm fine though, it's clear you have something troubling you…"
Subaru laughs a little nervous, "I can't hide it." Taking a breath he continues. He tangles up the phone cord around his finger. "Well….I mentioned earlier Kamui had offered to share part of his power… with me."
"Yes, that is quite an offering. If you two weren't already so intimate I might hold concerns about transferring energy. But as you two are I'm sure you'll be fine," Lady Sumeragi pauses for a moment, closing her eyes. She voices a lingering question. "Kamui seems content to do so. But What do you want to do? "
Subaru takes a breath, stopping from the natural and honest urge to say 'whatever makes Kamui happy.' it wouldn't be fair. This wasn't a one-sided favor…This notion is sweet. Kamui offers his strength to him, and at this time when he's been struggling to find balance with his power.
"I want for us to be even more connected," He finally manages to answer with the truth. Being connected in heart, body, and soul was a beautiful thought. A kind of intimacy he never imagined he'd be fortunate to experience in his lifetime. "But only if it causes no harm to Kamui."
"I'm not foolish," Lady Sumeragi almost laughs at the audacity of even thinking of an option that did so. "I hold no desire to propose an option that would cause harm to your beloved. " Certainly, not if she wanted to maintain any kind of relationship with her precious grandson.
"I… know you wouldn't… but I just want to be certain." Subaru clears his throat, blushing. Had he become that obvious, that easy to read while with Kamui?
"I understand," She confirms with an eased smile, adding on, "I have no desire to see either of you hurt. Certainly not to the person who brought your light back."
"Grandmother…" Subaru softly calls, unable to find proper words. But he feels gratitude and relief that such a process wouldn't cause.
"Your Kamui had exceptional power, that's for certain… so it would be best for you both to come here…. We could set up a ritual."
"At the estate?" Subaru asks, thinking of a time to set out for Kyoto.
"Yes, I feel having other skilled Onmyouji around would be good in case the power transfer goes well and in control. To be on the safer side."
"If it makes things safer for Kamui as well-" He adds on further- "For both of us, then I think it's best we do so."
"Although you should know. While the process is not to cause pain… you must keep yourself in good health." She warns, tone softening, while carefully thinking over her next words.
"Is there another problem?" Subaru inquires, not finding himself surprised there would be something more.
"Kamui is unlikely to feel any sense or strain or exhaustion transferring his power… but for you to take in that kind of power, you may find yourself exhausted, needing rest as your body adjusts to the new kind of energy inside."
"If that's the case I'll be just fine," Subaru ensures, certain he could and would take in everything given by his beloved, regardless of how drained it might be at first.
"If it's alright then-. We can plan a time in the near future and for more details," She responds with a more light-hearted tone. "But for now, you two should enjoy yourselves. Don't you have a special trip planned together?"
"Ah, yes that's right. It's for Our Anniversary," He really tries not to gush at the words alone. Although he realizes he must have done so earlier for her to know this. "It would be best to not be too drained before we go out."
"It certainly would be. You're both so young and should enjoy every moment you can together. There will always be time after to plan for the power transfer."
Subaru finishes, saying goodbye, "I will be sure to call you again soon. Thank you very much ."
"Any time. I'm glad to see you've found such happiness with him," Lady Sumeragi responds quite assuredly. "I'll look forward to hearing from both of you. Your dear Kamui is always welcome. And when you two are ready to become bound, know we'll set up another kind of ceremony here for you two."
"Another Ceremo- Grandmother-" Subaru tries to reply, but the line cuts out. The knowing words and sense of amusement leave Subaru flushing red. He hears the slight footsteps approaching him.
"Subaru?" Kamui gently calls, peering from the doorway of the office.
"Kamui," Subaru murmurs tenderly. Gold and emerald eyes gloss over with a deepening emotion, lights sparkling more. "You can come in."
"I just wasn't sure if you were busy…," Kamui explains his wariness. Certain that he wasn't interrupting; he strides into the room, leaning over his lover. Arms slip over Subaru's shoulders.
Kamui lets out a mild gasp when feeling himself literally swept off his feet. He settles easily on his lover's lap.
"I was talking to my grandmother," Subaru begins to explain.
"Oh?" Kamui prompts gently, eyes lifting and moving curiously.
Subaru continues, "It was about… You Transferring your power within me… the exchange."
"So… what did she say?" Kamui feels nerves sink in.
"She said it can be done safely, especially since we've exchanged power before…" Subaru begins lively enough then a little weariness slips through. "But considering how vast your powers are… she thinks it would be best to be careful and perform the ritual back in Kyoto."
"Then is… everything is safe for us?" Kamui has to ask, feeling foolish he hadn't considered the possibility. The whole idea seemed so simple, Subaru made the task look easy. "I'm sure I've gotten better at managing my power now too so I won't do anything reckless."
"You'll be just fine. , I'd never agree to do anything that would bring you harm," Subaru promises, solemnly, heart and soul devoted.
"And you'll be alright?" Kamui's heart goes out to him, looking deep into his lover's eyes for assurance. "I want it to be safe for both of us, not only me."
"Yes, although…."
"Although.."
"It may be tiring for when I first take in some of your energy…it's not going to cause harm. Though I may need to rest a while getting used to that change."
"That's a relief then," Kamui murmurs, cupping his lover's cheek. His violet eyes sparkle with a tender white light. "I'll care for you, as long as you need to get back on your feet."
"If that's the case, I'll be looking forward to it." Subaru leans his cheek into the touch. His lips curl brightly.
"But since there may be some recovery time needed… I think it would be best if we plan this, after our anniversary trip… and I do want to have a lot of energy for that day."
"I-of course…" Kamui stammers blushing a harsh shade of red. His heart quickens its pace, looking into Longing and desirous eyes. "Th-that makes sense."
"So we might postpone for the next week, but I can promise I won't overexert myself or my own powers before." Subaru kisses the hand on his cheek. A tender atmosphere takes form.
"I think we can manage," Kamui purrs, nuzzling the side of his lover's neck. Sweetly, he bestows a kiss. "Besides, you won't need to worry about using too much of your own strength. You can lean on me. I'll be right by your side for the next few jobs, right?"
"That's right," Subaru ensures, finding comfort in his lover's tender protective nature. For the first time in a while, he feels safe, to trust and allow himself to be cared for and protected by another.
Because this is Kamui. With Kamui, he's certain the words are coming from the heart, betrayal wasn't something capable for either of them, certainly not to the extent they've experienced.
"I'll always keep you safe, Subaru " Kamui vows, pressing their lips tenderly. Hands tighten around his waist, pulling him in closer, all worries left for another time.
~Anniversary~
Enoshima. Today was their day. The quaint and beautiful island became the decided upon for the couple. The distance was quite short enough to be a day trip, but with everything planned and the day being so memorable… it made sense to create a new experience.
Such beautiful and traditional ryokan rooms certainly fit the criteria. And of course, it wouldn't do to have just any room either.
Lightly packing and taking an early drive out proved they'd have a day full. They were arriving along with the growing sunrise to their inn.
"I can't believe it's this close," Kamui comments, looking out towards the window, gaining a clear view of the vast oceanside. He lays his head back down on his lover's shoulder. He can see the signs leading to their Ryokan inn, meaning they were closer than planned. He pouts a little, having planned on lying like this a little longer.
"It is a short drive over," Subaru agrees, attention focused on the weight on his shoulder. He relishes combing his fingers through dark hair. Then fluffing the raven locks, and smoothing them back down again. How something so simple could be this therapeutic he'd never know.
"It's my first time here… but you have been around here before right?"
"Yeah, just Briefly for work… and even then the most I saw was the back of the alleyways."
"I guess spirits couldn't have haunted a more attractive sight?"
Subaru laughs sweetly, at the comment, making his partner's entire face perk up.
"I guess not," Subaru ruffles his hand through Kamui's soft raven head. The latter male bites down on his lip, avoiding releasing any sounds of reaction."But I prefer it that way."
"Oh," Kamui clutches at the wrapped-up bento boxes on his lap. "Why is that?" He had an idea, but hearing tender words from Subarus's lips was something he couldn't resist.
"Because now, I get to see everything for the first time with you." Subaru elaborates, voice dripping sweet as honey. He bestows a little kiss on the crown of his lover's head.
"Another first for us," Kamui murmurs so softly, going a little breathless at how directly the words came. Still, he can't fight to smile to himself. He's left deciding the location while not somewhere far distanced from Tokyo, would make for beautiful new memories.
There were plenty of romantic endeavors to come. One in particular Subaru planned for them, and it was just a short train ride from the island. Though that would wait for later…
'We'll have plenty of alone at the Ryokan.'
Subaru calms himself with a few soft and silent breaths. The thought repeats across his mind, a new inner mantra for the day.
Just the tiniest thought of being swept up by the mood, kissing, and touching in the privacy of their room is enough to light a spark in Subaru's chest.
This being their day.
"We're here," Subaru quietly tells his companion, as they approach the parking lot. For This time of day, it seemed unexpectedly busy.
Subaru admires the pleased smile, lips slightly parting and throat going dry. His cheeks dust a light pink, as he tugs Kamui forward, through the crowd.
The younger male blinks, not reading his lover's actions. Nor how badly he has to refrain from kissing those beaming lips. Fluttering feelings take place, despite the confusion.
Crowds were not Kamui's thing. Neither of them was fond of it. Still, seeing this compassionate, protective, side of his boyfriend, keeping him close, made it much more endurable.
'We'll have our privacy and alone time in the Ryokan…' Subaru thinks, seeing a few of those looking his boyfriend up and down with interest. He frowns, and wraps his arm tightly around Kamui, pulling him extra close, to show they hadn't a chance. Subaru would never let Kamui go, not for the world.
But they were close, going by the checkout and on their way to their own private space.
Seeing the beautiful room is just the start of their journey. Their bags are placed delicately beside the entryway by a staff member who bows their head closing a slightly more modern intention, Subaru clicks the lock on their door into place.
"Wow, this is…" Kamui begins, violet eyes growing wide and in pure awe at every detail of their room.
The traditional 'Ryokan', hosts a breathtaking view of the ocean. The entire inn's cleanliness and hospitality go above all expectations. The pair's few bags are taken up to their room. Everything inside is spotless, floors and furniture even sparkling.
The lights above reflect within the short table in the center of the room. The lowered seats surrounding the table could easily be mistaken for new, the cushions seeming fluffed and cozy. Spotless tatami mats, sliding wooden doors, and paper screen windows above, make for a classic view.
Of course, the main door they entered is given a more modern lock system needed for obvious reasons…
"It's incredible," Kamui finally voices, feeling a hand tugging his own, leading him to the next room.
An adjoining room features a beautifully crafted desk and bedframe of the same wooden texture. The king-size mattress is covered with pristine, snow-white sheets, wrapped snugly around it. As though requested, two pillows are placed together, forming a heart shape.
Their bed hosts luxurious-looking ivory sheets. The elegant rose petals contrast beautifully upon the bed…and Kamui has an idea, his lover planned this part out ahead of time.
A door is opened slightly revealing the private onsen outside. Not that it's taken into account. Kamui lunges towards his lover, covering his lips with his own. He licks their joined lips, wrapping his arms tightly around Subaru's neck.
In barely a heartbeat, Subaru is already more than returning the passion inside. His hands slip down Kamui's sides.
Violet-blue eyes, light and glisten enchantingly. "Thank you," Kamui purrs, taking a sharp breath before diving back in. Lips join together passionately and feverishly. With a harsh gasp, the younger man finds hands clutching under his thighs, lifting him higher.
"Kamui…" Subaru breathes between their lips, before sinking deeper. He releases a pleased groan feeling his lover wrap his legs naturally around his waist. He slips his tongue across the seam of Kamui's lips, entering with pure acceptance granted. A few moments pass, Kamui tilting his head and following the movements of their lips, and allowing his mouth to be explored.
A collection of deep, French-kisses following up with a 'break' of tender presses of lips before the cycle continues. Kamui's mind finally comes to enough to properly return the passion, letting his tongue sweep in and press over his lover's lips and tongue.
Swept away by gravity, they draw together, back just enough to reach a new angle, and connect their lips at a deeper angle.
"Haa… we-" Kamui attempts, losing his breath, as their lips keep devouring each other. He finds himself, more than a little impressed, with how his lover holds him up indefinitely. It's only when Subaru bites on his lip, that things shift.
Unintentionally, Kamui closes in, legs squeezing his lover's hips and flushing their intimate parts together. Subaru holds no problem with continuing from here, the repertoire of activities long forgotten. Rather heated kisses grow, bringing them closer, Subaru gradually lowers his lover to rest on the mattress.
"W-wait!" He manages and tries not to melt in the way Subaru immediately accepts the request, can't hide the way his lips curl to a tiny frown.
"What is it?" Subaru asks, overheated, flushed, and taken off guard.
"It's ha…j-just…you had…" Kamui's breath falls shallow, making him consciously take time to inhale and exhale. Now, having the energy to form words he elaborates- "Y-you um…had everything made up for us so nicely. So I don't want to mmm, mess it up so soon..."
Subaru blinks, not expecting such an answer, and concern to arise here. He shakes his head lightly, pressing kisses all along Kamui's forehead, cheeks, nose, and eyelids. He pauses, their lips being kept just centimeters apart.
"It's impossible for you to mess anything up, but if you're really worried, I can place you down carefully…" His assurances seal over with a kiss. Warm breath makes Kamui go a little dizzy, as he is delicately lowered to the edge of their mattress. Wide-doe eyes glance up at Subaru, lashes fluttering.
"If anything you make it more…alluring, " Subaru professes, kneeling in front of his sweetheart, placing a tender hand on his lover's knee.
Kamui reaches his arms out towards him, cutely in a way that guarantees they would linger here for quite a bit longer. Subaru can only fall further into this moment, sweetening, and going a little slower, as they find themselves, falling back to and tangled up on the bed. Beautiful petals scatter around the sheet, framing the pair.
The lingering desire to kiss, touch, and hold, certainly doesn't go away, but thankfully manages as being 'only' a make-out… This tender morning is just the beginning of their special day.
Exploration
After rather…thoroughly investing private time in each other, Kamui and Subaru head towards the first of their stops.
The surrounding area outside their inn is a bit more crowded, with tourists going in all different directions. It's nothing that should be unexpected, being a tourist spot. Still, glancing towards the quickly filling beaches, a start to a new destination begins.
The Enoshima bridge. Such a long and fairly spacious bridge provides space.
Subaru and Kamui's hands interlock tight, certain not to separate. Slowly, their pace makes it easier to let more eager tourists pass them by, and give them more needed time just the two of them.
"Stay close to me," Subaru whispers, tone and touch entirely protectively. Kamui beams, stepping just that little bit closer, their sides brush.
Several individuals, couples, and some young families pass them by. A few children run ahead, pointing towards one building or another, and pulling their parents along to join them.
One particularly eager child rushes up ahead without thinking- knocking into Kamui. The sudden motion catches the young man off balance. He begins stumbling slightly, before finding two protective arms wrapped around and above his waist, pulling him back to safety.
Their parents hurriedly run up to them, "I'm so sorry!" They apologize profusely bowing several times.
Subaru and Kamui weren't too bothered nor minding the end result. Kamui takes full advantage of the situation, cuddling up to a warm chest, hands tangling into his lover's shirt. The latter smiles at this, taking them over towards the side of the bridge, allowing others to go on. Curious looks towards the couple go entirely unnoticed.
The couple loses themselves in a gentle little moment. "Are you alright?" Subaru calls his love so tenderly, resting his forehead on his beloved's own.
Kamui closes his eyes, lips, and cheeks raising from the incoming warmth. "I'm just fine," he responds, indulging at the moment, and hugging him close. Subaru's body rests in front, hiding his flustered boyfriend from any further onlookers.
The vast majority of tourists were swept up in creating their memories, taking photos, with the oceanic background, and chattering about the various attractions.
Unhurried, Subaru and Kamui, parted from the embrace, changing back to clasping hands.
"It's really nice here," Kamui voices, quietly, squeezing the hand over his own. Taking a slow, intimate, and scenic route, allows them plenty of opportunities to gaze out towards the sparkling ocean. "It's hard to believe a place like this can be so close to Tokyo."
Ah, the grueling aspects of overpopulated, fast-paced, and even cutthroat life in the city…felt like a world away. Certainly, there were many positives to Tokyo, being their meeting place, and home after all. Such a laid-back and comforting vibe was refreshing.
"It's certainly different," Subaru agrees, lacing their fingers until they are perfectly linked. With a positive aspect, he chooses to focus on the present, "And we have a lot more yet to see."
"That's true," Kamui murmurs. Rather pleased, he starts lying his head to the side, upon his boyfriend's arm. The latter squeezes their laced hands, snug; his thumb caressing the back of Kamui's hand.
Journeying, steadily across the bridge, they arrive at a quaint and inviting shopping district. Various souvenir stores, cafes, and food stalls were opened on each side of the road. Small restaurants had signs, displayed further up the road. There wasn't a single shop without some curious customers.
"I…can we look in there?" Kamui asks, waving towards a small shop. Subaru nods, following his sweetheart's lead, curious as to whatever caught his interest. Several touristy mugs, shirts, fans, pens, keychains, and various charms were displayed around the little shop.
One particular set caught the younger man's eye, as he hurried towards a table off in the corner. A large box was full of colorful charms.
"What are you looking for?" Subaru curiously eyes his lover's hands sifting through it all.
"I…ah," Kamui bites down on his lip. 'This is a little…embarrassing to explain.' The words came out so much easier in his head. He feels a reassuring hand cradle over his own and is again reminded his lover would be nothing but accepting. "I wanted to get something like this…well charms that match like…ah…the l-" Abashed, he fumbles.
Kamui, takes a breath, clutching at a single white charm with the symbol for Love~'Ai' inscribed in front. Curling his finger in, he gestures to his lover to come a little closer. Leaning up to his tip-toes "L-love charms…" He at last whispers into his boyfriend's ear.
"Love charms." Subaru visibly brightens at the suggestion, feeling every bit of him from his head to the tips of his toes, flowing with a tranquil warmth. "Which ones do you like?" He asks, perfectly accepting, and taken in by a notion.
"A-ah- I'm not exactly sure but…ah maybe we can both pick some out?" Kamui offers, turning his hand so their palms brush closely.
"I'd love to…" Subaru voices with certainty coming in a heartbeat. 'And hopefully, this mood-building will be a start of good things to come.' Hoping his own little desire for this trip doesn't come off as being too embarrassing, the older male busies himself with the task at hand.
"Let's find some that go together then…" Kamui's voice turns to a whisper, hearing several giggles passing by, and his heartbeat in his ears.
It appeared they had gained fans in the few passing by schoolgirls, who kept giggling and turning back to the couple. They'd hurriedly look away, up at the shelves or boxes of whatever trinket was in front of them.
"Are there any you find yourself drawn to," Subaru keeps his attention on his lover, seeming to pay their fanbase no mind, maybe gaining familiarity with the scenario at this point. So long as someone wasn't vying for Kamui's affection, it posed no problem to him.
Being invested in a couple's love charms. A concept so trivial before now. Subaru never figured he'd experience something so tender and pure in his life…with the way he loved…and yet…because of Kamui, he was here.
"I do kind of like this one…" Kamui returns, grasping for the small rectangular charm, and placing it in his lover's hand.
Gold and emerald eyes transfix at the attractive design and its incredibly amorous appeal. There was no mistaking it for a charm of luck or another non-loved themed fortune, making it all the more perfect.
The deep red backdrop is surrounded by traces of silver while shining gold makes up the kanji symbol in the center. Surrounding the charm are a few rainbow-colored hearts: blue, green, red, orange, everything. To make it completely elegant white roses are embroidered on top and bottom of the bag-like charm.
"It's lovely." Subaru knows he's smiling foolishly in admiration, falling deeper into his lover's abyss. There's only so much that can be helped, especially when imagining the charm carried on Kamui wherever he goes.
"Yeah…but…I'm not sure if I can find a good match though…" The younger male can't hide his disappointment.
Subaru feels every ounce of disappointment. Now, he's dedicated to finding that missing pair, the set his lover had his eye on. There was no way he'd give up on completing this task, even if they had to go through countless shops or stores in local shrines.
Kamui decided to move past the mild problem. He turned his attention to ask, hand brushing over his lover. "What do you think? Are there any that you l-"
Subaru clasps the smaller hand. He quickly scoops up booth Kamui's beloved charm and its perfect match.
"Subaru…" Beautiful violet-blue orbs grow doe-like and sparkle.
Paired together, they were all the more enchanting. The second charm is a soft snow-white color. This time the lining is surrounded by the same gold color, and the symbol is stitched in with a silver thread. The rainbow of hearts was strewn throughout, albeit in a darker shade, whilst the hearts upon the deep red charm were closer to pastel. In place of the white roses on the top and bottom, were two red roses of a matching design.
"They complete each other," Subaru's wording did not slip past Kamui's sight. He knew his lover well enough, certain when his affectionate behaviors took over all else. The red charm is handed over to Kamui, and Subaru holds up the other.
"It's fitting…" Kamui murmurs tenderly, holding the charm up to his chest, and hugging the gift tightly.
Completing each other. Becoming whole beside the other- as though the world and fate around them finally brought each other's missing puzzle piece.
'Like soulmates…' The term quickly glides across Kamui's mind, making him flustered. "How did you find it so quickly?" Kamui gazes up at his lover, transfixed, eyes glowing and enchanting. His admiration seemed as though they didn't possess their own immeasurable and mystical psychic powers.
Luck? Intuition? A combination of the two?
Subaru voices what came to his mind, that driving force. "You looked so happy finding this one," he gestures to the red charm, which Kamui clutches to his chest. "So I knew I needed to find the match as soon as possible." He scratches his cheek a little pinkened, admitting openly. "And I certainly wouldn't stop looking until we found it." No matter how many stops they had to make. seeing that dazzled and elated in Kamui's eyes would always be worth it all.
Kamui fights off the urge to kiss his boyfriend, hearing a chorus of 'aws' and 'ooh's from the fangirls they attracted moments ago. He chooses to wait for their privacy, instead whispering a sweet, "I love you," into Subaru's ear.
Subaru returns the words with an ethereal smile and promises a very affectionate followup-when their alone time does come. "Let's check these out and then maybe get breakfast?"
The younger man nods enthusiastically at the response, hunger further accented by a growl of his stomach.
Exiting the shop, a matching charm is in each other's pocket. A quiet, less occupied restaurant becomes their next destination. Several travel brochures of the island are displayed in front, which Kamui grabs quickly.
The sign on top displays pictures of delicious-looking pancakes and omelets to entice the customers. It certainly works, as Kamui finds himself and hunger leading him further inside.
Two cups of tea are served on either side of the table. Kamui is served a decadent plate of three chocolate chip pancakes, covered with slices of banana, a mountain of whip cream, and syrup.
Subaru on the other hand opts for a more balanced plate of fruit, eggs, and veggies. He does give in to his lover's temptation ordering another dessert on the side, a cupcake, which he knew he would be (happily) sharing with Kamui.
"So what is it you'd like to visit next?" Subaru, as usual, asks his lover first. Selfless to a fault, but Kamui would be working on that. Indulging his lover further.
"I think you should get to pick some things," Kamui insists, firmly enough but with affection. He slides his hand across the table, holding the hand on his own. A hand which Subaru seems to take particular notice of, seemingly lost in thought. "I want to leave… ringing the "Dragon Lover's" bell for last or at least close to last…"
"Of course," Subaru's lips curl up, and in full bliss at the idea.
"We'll head to Kamakura after that then?" Kamui remembers all too well, still not comprehending his lover's nerves.
"That seems good to me."
Sea Cave
A first exploration through the nearby caves follows their meal time. Their restaurant is close, within walking distance making for a nice first stop. It'll be a nice walk through an enchantingly developed cave, with pictures and status for the island's history.
Looking out across from the beaches showed an entrance. A long bridge with bright red railings lined up to the entrance of the first tunnels. But there were also quite a few people lining up on the bridge.
Kamui clasps their hands together, tugging and urging Subaru along to rush over to the destination. And before anything became more populated.
The vast geological sight was beautiful, enchanting in its own right. The affectionate pair, clasped hands tighter as they made their way in through the lines of clouds.
'You don't like crowded places…' Kamui recalls, feeling his lover's slight apprehension "Are you alright?" He glances up with glimmering concern.
"I-" Subaru takes a breath, slightly laughing. He shrugs his shoulders down and shakes his head, giving in. "Of course, you'll see through me."
Kamui's lips lift to a prideful smile. But the concern doesn't waver. "Is it too crowded for you? We can always go see something else and wait for it to clear out."
Subaru pauses, looking around as though to confirm his decision. "No." His free hand lifts up, ruffling Kamui's hair. "I want to be here."
"Are you sure? I mean I can understand if a lot of people around you make you feel uncomfortable," Kamui speaks with nothing short of pure compassion.
"It's not quite that… but it's more like…" Subaru squeezed Kamui's hand again, letting out a sigh. He leans down to whisper, "I wanted to have a lot of alone time with you, today."
The words were meant to be sweet, romantic, and likely pure even. But something about the deepening tone and close voice gave Kamui goosebumps, as his thoughts went elsewhere."
"But this… being a popular attraction, we won't have as many chances to explore, just the two of us." Subaru explains his earlier intentions behind the words."And I really was hoping we could take our time."
"I understand…" Kamui's heart skips a beat at the sincerity. "But I think it will still be nice, and I've read there's even some cafes and spots inside we could break off at to let crowds clear."
"That's true," Subaru says, seemingly pleased with the words and reciprocal feelings. The approach to the rocky entrance seems to move faster from there.
Cameras keep clicking off, and small flashes of light shine within the cave. That was in addition to the lighting placed all across the attraction.
The sheer number of people lining up before seemed to be endless. Subaru and Kamui finally took their turn to the entrance, they could breathe with relief.
Walking to the ticket gate, they took their tickets and began to explore the entryway.
"Here you are," the woman working at the ticket counter hands the couple two candle lanterns. "It can get darker further in the cave." She explains and bows her head.
There was plenty more space than imagined. The caves near the front were lit perfectly, making it easy to see the color and crevices of the surrounding rocks.
The attraction hosted a little cafe and a space for bathrooms at the entrance. A sign with the symbols for "Enoshima Iwaya Cave" was displayed on one of the larger boulders. A picture mapping out the inside of the cave is displayed beside it.
"Shall we head in?" Subaru sweetly asks, reclasping their hands a little tighter.
"Mhm," Kamui agrees, nodding as they maneuver their way through the long walkway. Heading further inside, the sound of sea waves echo all over.
There are several displays, small statues, relics, and plenty of charts detailing the history of such a cave.
"The caves are all like this from the waves right?…it's almost hard to believe this came from nature," Kamui notes upon reading one of the signboards.
"Nature certainly has a power all its own, forming this just as it is." Subaru begins then looks around and pauses. "Of course, there's been work done inside so people can regularly, walk through safely."
"Well, I know that much," Kamui laughs lightly. He squeezes his lover's hand. His free hand clutches the handle of the small lantern. "It must have been so different at first…"
"I'm sure some pictures or portraits are showing that," Subaru confirms, feeling a warmth at his lover's tilting head and genuine curiosity. "Let's go see."
Kamui nods rather pleased and walks at a steady pace along with his partner. As predicted, pictures alongside more written history show the cave's early formations. Along follows various portraits of the inside of the cave and the progression of work done inside.
Lights still surround the cave, on their trek. As they get deeper inside the need for additional light comes in handy.
"If you feel uncomfortable in the dark," Subaru begins noticing, Kamui's eyes widen at the change. "Just hold tight to me"
Kamui couldn't make out if his lover was teasing, flirting, or showing genuine comfort and concern. 'Probably a mix of all three.' He internally guesses.
"Okay," the younger lover agrees, wasting no time taking the opportunity to snuggle his lover's arm. "If being scared means being close to you then I'm entirely terrified," Kamui returns the words playfully, a little tongue in cheek. "Although it might be tricky with the lanterns…"
"That is true…"Subaru validates his point. Still, they manage to keep as close as possible. Truly they are connecting, while keeping their light source on the opposite side of their partner, gripping the golden ring at the top.
Between the two caves lies a connecting walkway. The fresh sea breeze and soothing waves add to the charm of the next cave on their destination. But even the simple walk over the bridge, hand in hand, felt special. The fresh ocean breeze is a nice change from being inside the cave.
They continue, seeing ancient relics, old photos, and vintage portraits cover and spread throughout the interior. There's even an open section devoted to a model of the Enoshima shrines, carved expertly from an intricate statue, that guests were flocking to, snapping photos of. One of the dragons, alongside a short inscription of the dragon, is said to have protected the people of Enoshima island.
The highlight of their cave visit has to be what's coming up. Fortunately, they are given the chance to step out to one end of the cave. They stand together, privately on their little sunlit 'balcony' exposing the rays of sunlight and beach below.
"Beautiful…" Kamui comments, feeling a sense of nostalgia at the crashing waves. While different, there was the soothing feeling he recalls as a child in Okinawa.
"It is…" Subaru murmurs, ensuring to hold a hand under the defined chin and tilt it up. "Because I'm seeing this with you," He smiles, pressing a tiny kiss to Kamui's lips, and forehead.
"Saying things like that so easily…" Kamui grumbles, left again to feel his heart skip, while his partner stays so calm and collected. Yet, the happy, affectionate feelings overcome him, his lips curling up, and leaning closer to his lover.
'I hope it can stay like this…When things are settled…we should go back to Okinawa.'
Thankfully, they were on the right track to healing from the 'Sakurazukamori' incident. While Kamui couldn't even consider it a problem, he knew his lover well enough and how deeply he had been worrying.
Subaru showed nothing short of his brightness all morning. Kamui could see the gleams of light in his beloved's eyes, knowing it to be the truth.
Viewing the beautiful sight below. Kamui presses a kiss on his boyfriend's shoulder. He looks into eyes reflecting the sparkling sea, before returning to nuzzling him there. Nothing else mattered here, just them.
Kamui understands further just how deeply this emotion runs. "You're the one," he grows only more certain each day, each moment they connect like this. My Soulmate.
"Hm?" Subaru hums. Kamui shakes his head, returning to cuddling closer, viewing the same sunlight sky.
'I want to share everything…all my life…with you.'
Homemade
With so much walking all throughout the shrine and caves, the couple earned themselves a break. Kamui's rumbling stomach was a key sign.
Subaru and Kamui head for a quick stop back to their inn, picking up the bento boxes as they head out towards a lush garden area. A perfect spot for their picnic.
Kamui's gaze falls down to the grassy patch below. A little insecurity rises to his chest, Having passed by deliciously smelling restaurants, cafes, and eateries, his own merits feel ineffective.
Freshly cooked island specialties, by seasoned chefs, made his wrapped-up stack of bento boxes feel ordinary.
'I must have made hundreds of these by now…. Though this is a little different… it's not like it'll be a new experience.' Surely, another meal he would make would hold a similar taste and could be experienced any other day.
Kamui held pride in his work before. He had planned, buying the finest ingredients, and all of Subaru's favorites from appetizers to desserts.
But now… with Subaru having booked their drive over and such an extra agent place to stay… Would this really be enough? He recalls idle chatter in the classrooms, some of the boys complaining about having the 'same bento' made for them nearly every day, the monotony getting to them. He dismissed them as being rather rude, and ungrateful…but maybe…it wasn't an uncommon feeling.
"I'm sure the specialties they make here are really good…" Kamui forces a curve to his lips. He doesn't know what reaction he's hoping for. Of course, he wants honesty… but also holds the hope that his cooking still holds a high place in his lover's heart…"So I understand if you'd rather we eat out somewhere. And we can save these for another time…"
"Why would I want to do that?" Subaru inquires, genuinely lost on the idea. Raised eyes, furrowing eyebrows and a questioning gaze follow up.
"Um…" Kamui bites on his lips. He lowers his gaze, violet-blue eyes look a little sadly to the ground. "Because… well, it probably tastes even better, trying something fresh and I know And you've had similar food before… so it makes sense you might be tired of it.. ."
"Tired of it? How could I-" He begins flabbergasted, his heart is so far gone, he hadn't even considered the notion of picking anything in the world over his lover's homemade meals.
"As I said…it's okay if you want a change now…"
"Kamui, everything you've made for me I've…" Words this sincere and vulnerable left Subaru's cheeks flushing hard. Still, he was unwavering with a desire to ensure Kamui. "I'm able to eat delicious food from the person I love on a regular basis…" He reflects, beaming beautifully.
"And just knowing the time and work you've spent making them for me, especially today… how could I even consider something else?".
Subaru spoke every word with complete and utter integrity. He pulls his lover off to the side, giving them their space behind a large flowering tree. His hands clutch Kamui's left and tug it to the middle of his chest.
"You put your heart into it… I can feel that." Subaru continues to step closer, caressing a tender cheek in his right hand, his left moving towards Kamui's chest, over the rapid heartbeats.
His young lover was already an excellent cook, being in love with said cook only enhanced the flavor.
"I love everything you make, Kamui," Subaru begins, professing the words so warmly, privately.
"I'm far from being 'tired' of anything you've made" He lifts Kamui to meet with his intense gaze.
Ensuring they looked at eyes he confessed. "Kamui I love the food you make for me above all else. Not just now, but for the rest of my life, I want to eat the food you've prepared for me. Please will you-ah, perhaps it's a little selfish. I know it's a lot of work." He pauses and shakes his head, the lovesick smile is all but dripping from his lips.
Kamui's face is brought closer, their breaths mingling. He feels genuine adoration for the words, cherishing the meal he made for Subaru.
"I'll do everything I can to return that kindness… so - Please, will you continue to prepare meals for me as you have been, for… the rest of our lives together?"
No time to respond is given. Hearts taking over every sense and reasoning, Subaru indulges in stealing and ravishing those perfectly plush lips. Kamui closes his eyes as though on instinct, body receiving the kiss but otherwise remaining frozen.
The wording of that, the timing, following it up with a lingering… and passionate kiss coming off as a proposal. While knowing it was not that moment it still left him speechless.
'How long are you going to make me go crazy like this?' Kamui feels tingles from the crown of his head to his curling toes. His heart had no intention of calming down. Every day Subaru unknowingly pushes the boundaries on how much Kamui's heart can take, and how much overflowing love can become embraced by you.
Kamui realizes he no longer had an answer. What else he could expect me to say but. "Yes…" Their lips graze again, drawn in magnetically. His slender hand reaches out for his beloved, affectionately carding through deep green-black hair. "Yes, of course, I'll do that Subaru…"
"Thank you." The older male responds entirely taken, gone on him. Kamui takes his turn to fluster his lover, cupping both cheeks and pressing in hard so their bodies embrace.
"You don't need to thank me for that… you do realize you're… thee perfect boyfriend right?" Kamui purrs, heart and body continuously swayed by his lover's earnest and steadfast heart. Those sweet words…. The genuine emotion behind them. How could he not become seduced?
'For someone who stayed quiet, worrying about having the right words to say …. You say them so naturally with me.'
"As a reward…" Kamui stands on his tiptoes. 'Really for us both…'
Whispering a few seductive words, that took every ounce of courage he possessed.
'Tonight, please don't hold back, do everything you want with me.'
True, his lover did have a thing about Subaru taking a rather dominant lead in their love life… It was no secret… it wasn't out of the question to hear similar words. But such an open, direct offer sparked a fire inside, leaving Subaru's mouth dry and voice nonexistent for a solid moment.
Subaru clears his throat, burning up, and doing all he can to cool his head. They still had a few sights to see… and he knew when he started with Kamui… well neither would be leaving their inn for quite a while.
"You're killing me," Subaru admits. His inner weakness bears a hopelessly gone, slightly pouting expression.
Kamui bites his lip, enjoying the sight his brain could only compute as being adorable. That's not to say he was doing much better, heart seeming set on an eternal race-course, and he could feel the flare burning up all across his face.
"I-I'm not trying to..." Kamui murmurs, quietly, turning his expression and gaze slightly. He takes a breath, hoping to cool himself off, actually abashed as though he hadn't proposed such a sensual 'reward', and not while they were in full privacy to fulfill such a reward. "But the words I said…I really mean it…"
Subaru pauses, hand ghosting over Kamui's cheek. The flare in violet-blue orbs couldn't be compressed, regardless of how flushed, the younger man became. His mind short-circuits, noticing both the sweet red blush and teeth biting the corner of Kamui's lips. Whether the sensual allure or tenderly shy display affected his heart more, he couldn't say.
"We…should…find a place to sit," Subaru finds success in even getting those words out. He's thankful he has the sense about him to notice they're very much in a tourist spot, that's filling up fast. "It's getting more crowded."
Kamui nods, relieved for the shift away from their previous subject. His mind was focused on getting a reaction out of his boyfriend, to express just how much he loved those sweet words he spoke earlier, and virtually every day since they first met.
They gather themselves to head as far out from others as possible. A white and lilac checkered blanket splays out for them with bento boxes stacked on top.
"I hope you like it," Kamui admits, finding his nerves no secret at this point.
"I know I'll-" Subaru begins, before feeling soft fingertips over his lips.
"You have to try it first," Kamui insists, not backing down."Be honest," he voices, but feels a sense of calm, at how highly his lover holds him up.
"I will," Subaru promises, with such confidence. Not a sense of doubt shone in those tender dual-colored eyes. The manner in which Subaru kisses the fingertips on his lips is alluring. Locking eyes directly with Kamui leaves a lingering heat between.
"Okay then," Kamui agrees, preparing to untie the stack of lunch boxes. He begins to separate them, displaying them out, giving his boyfriend the option to pick whatever he likes.
"It looks wonderful," Perhaps, Subaru was just too kind, too good to even think of a negative comment to say. Certainly not when it came to anything given by Kamui. He takes his time, reaching for a pair of chopsticks, opening the paper wrapping, and parting them slowly. All the while he takes in the smorgasbord of delicious food.
"Thank you, my Kamui," Uncertain, and sensing his boyfriend's impatience, he decides upon the first box brought out. He presses his hands together, bowing his head before taking the first bite. He grasps with chopsticks a perfectly rolled omelet.
Already, beyond flustered, Kamui takes the words in entirely, knowing his heart was far too weak for the words to be anything but hyper-effective. Violet-blue orbs transfix upon his lover's every movement. As the sweet omelet brushes Subaru's lips, his gaze turns firmer, scrutinizing to see any sense of displeasure. There was none.
Kamui breathes a tiny sigh of relief. He feels a fluttering sensation, knowing whatever words follow up would indeed be the truth.
"Delicious," Subaru praises, returning the eyes with his tender-eyed- gaze. "Thank you," he slips the side of his hand down a tender cheekbone.
"You're welcom-" Kamui begins, only to feel that same hand fall to his chin. Turning him further, lips take over his own. Violet-blue eyes flutter beautifully to a close, and he indulges in the tender shift and melding of lips on lips.
Subaru doesn't miss a beat, not with Kamui. With Kamui, it's as though he has no choice but to speak his heart. "Of course," he begins. This urge went especially so when it was something to draw out a cute reaction. "This tastes sweetest," he purrs, licking the seam across Kamui's plush lips, ensuring his words were obvious.
Kamui loses his breath, heart hammering against his ribcage. Plush lips are taken over and soothingly caressed and loved upon. The younger man does find the sense to respond, feeling a little fluttering sensation at the way Subaru holds a hand up in front of their joined lips. Shielding from any potential watching eyes. Thankfully, they were far enough out anyway, but the private notion didn't move past Kamui.
'No matter how often this may happen …' he thinks, mind and heart overwhelmed. 'I don't think my heart will ever be used to it.'
Subaru slows their kiss, the soft sounds of lips pressing and colliding are all each other can hear. Somewhere in the daze, they break apart, but not without one lingering kiss.
"You should try this as well," Subaru says, swiftly, picking up a sweet omelet roll, and bringing it to Kamui's lips. Entirely trusting and at ease, Kamui accepts the offer without a second thought.
It was good they found the space, getting lost in their own world feeding each other.
"Subaru," Kamui murmurs, feeling an arm tenderly coming to wrap around his midsection.
"Hm?" Subaru returns tenderly, lips grazing tenderly over his cheek.
"I'm…more than happy to make these for you," Kamui returns the feeling, hoping his lover caught on that this promise went beyond simply cooking. "For the rest of our lives, and well just….always…I want to….just for you."
"Kamui…"
Gold and emerald orbs still, focusing deep into violet-blue. Subaru is certain he feels his heart aching, pulling him closer to the heart he loved the most.
Judging by the way his lover drops his chopsticks, clutches the side of his face, and blatantly crashes their lips together…Kamui's certain. They were on the same page, belonging right here, just like this…for an eternity.
Lighthouse
Within the center of the garden area lies an enchanting lighthouse. A stark white color and shape proved to look like an enormous candle, overlooking much of the island.
The Sea Candle. A mesmerizing attraction, thankfully, they came at the right time. Having finished their lunch and waiting it out, the lines had cleared. Subaru and Kamui went right to the front entrance.
Purchasing tickets, they entered through the dome-shaped entrance. A sense of warmth and security never failed to flow through the couple. Their hands intertwined, all the while heading up the spiral staircase.
'Going to an attraction like this does…bring familiar feelings…' Kamui reflects, squeezing the hand on his own tightly.
It was nice…while the structure reminded Kamui of the Tokyo Tower, it held a different aura. Giving off a new feeling, this city is untainted by the battles of that promised year. Or at the least not nearly as tainted as Tokyo had been.
His nervous state doesn't go unnoticed by his partner. "Are you alright?" Subaru asks him, and in that same tender tone, he reserves for Kamui.
"Yeah…" Kamui partly lies. "Just thinking of the past a bit…but this place is different."
While not truly deciphering all of that Subaru trusts Kamui will come to him if the anxious feeling persists. Subaru does, however, choose, to hold even tighter to Kamui's hand, and kiss the side of his head.
"Hey! Subaru!" Kamui squeaks, unexpectedly being dragged up the flight of stairs. Tugging upon the slender hand, he picks up their pace, just enough to give a boost in endorphins. Feeling a little lighter, the sight overlooks the ocean on the horizon. With a feeling of gliding up the stairs, Kamui smiles fondly, eyes lowered to their joined hands.
It's not long before reaching the top, indoor layer of the lighthouse. Right before they graze that final step up, the young man manages to catch up, resting his head upon his lover's back.
"Kamui?" Subaru speaks, feeling thin slender arms wrap around him. His favorite person leans in close, throbbing chest embracing his back.
"You're always thinking of me…" 'Doing whatever you can think, to cheer me up.' "So I…"
"Of course," Subaru closes his eyes. Speaking as though it were the simplest concept.
"They probably don't want people running up the stairs that fast or ya know at all." Kamui presses his lips together, with a coy little curve to them. "It's kind of delinquent behavior." Now he really couldn't contain his smile, having little idea just how much of a reward that little gesture meant to his precious person.
Subaru laughs so heavenly softly. It gives his lover goosebumps, paired with the enticingly warm breath reaching his face "Well…just once, I don't think it's so bad to…"
"Misbehave?" Kamui laughs, eyes sparkling with a pure. His lover swallows hard at the action.
"No, more like…to just be in the moment…" Subaru in slight belief those words were capable of leaving his lips. Before Kamui, many things became impossible. For the sake of seeing a worried frown return to a smile, he had them both rushing up a staircase like a couple of school kids. Not even as a child, has Subaru felt quite this free…
Now, they could have a new experience. So breaking away from their little world together they finally looked properly at the upper floor. Expansive windows surround the entire floor, giving a perfect view of the ocean below.
Many binoculars are propped up on a pedal all around. The coin-operated viewers gain attention, though most of the visitors stand back along the wall or over the railing, enjoying the sight from their own space.
This was nothing like the crowd on the main bridge of the line through the tunnel, only a few people standing rather far apart. Still, Kamui found himself craving a little more affectionate time with his boyfriend and the space to do so.
Subaru seemed to have the same idea. When they turned from the window back to one another, their eyes met, with that equal melting expression, hearts reflecting.
"Subaru-"
"Kamui-"
Calling each other's names at the same time, they pause. Brilliant gold and emerald attach to violet-blue, both shimmering with amusement.
Kamui gestures a little wave towards his lover. "You first."
"But- ah-" Subaru hesitates, attempting to offer his lover the same. Kamui crosses his arms, stubbornly.
"Subaru~" Kamui's soft violet gaze lightens, holding pure bemusement. Plush lips curve to a bemused little smirk. Subaru is resisting the urge to kiss it away.
Still, he asks, "Would you like to go out and see the top?"
"Yes," Kamui confirms simply, nodding rather eagerly. His eyes shimmer, speaking on their own, 'I want more space for just the two of us'.
Another flight of stairs curved around the tower, this time they were content to walk up at a steady pace. The door opened to reveal a bright sunny sky. Being out and that boy up reveals an even clearer sight.
Breathtaking, the lush greenery can be seen from afar, from all around them. The site is much like a wreath embracing several small homes and buildings. The sand seems to dazzle with traces of sunlight across the light texture. Beautifully, the whole sea sparkles in the distance, as though, doing so just for them, their arrival.
"It's amazing," Kamui voices in awe, heart glittering not from the sight but having his lover right beside him, seeing the same perfect view.
There's far more space and privacy too, only a handful of people off to the far right of them. They walk in the opposing direction, to find a private spot by an unoccupied coin viewer.
"Everything looks small from here…" Kamui thinks aloud, voice holding a distant tone.
"It does." Subaru takes notice of that or every little slip. Every curve and line shifting on Kamuis's face, sinking, is taken in. He doesn't press for answers. Their lives had enough parallels to give an idea.
Something about this place brought on a painful memory. Gently, whispers from concerned lips. "Kamui?" Curiosity and worry are given into asking. "Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah…" Kamui stumbles. Mind swimming in mental recollections of his innocence. Sights such as the park, bridges, and towers in Tokyo used to hold the same beauty and interest. But now… "Somehow this place just brought up old memories…"
"Do you want to go back?" Subaru worries, both hands clasping over Kamui's, covering them as a sacred treasure.
"No," Kamui shakes his head, certain. He wouldn't let similarities, old memories, break the tender feeling he built up here with Subaru.
'I can't change the past.' The chosen one reflects solemnly. There were simply some places they could never return to. But they weren't in Tokyo before. They were in a place, unexplored by either of them, until now. A place to discover together.
"I like to see this, and stay here, "Kamui ensures, looking out, only feeling more certain.
'I can focus on our future.'
"With you," he breathes, heart stuttering, upon feeling a comforting weight pressed into his back.
Kamuiturns around readily, happily falling into such an alluring, caring gaze. "Because I want to make a new memory with you." Beaming, the notion is honest and direct from the heart.
"Then." Subaru leans over, voice feeling hot and husky directly in Kamui's ear. "Do you want to take a closer look?" It was only understood when Kamui squeaks, not expecting this kind of response.
Memories would always come about…but now he needed to return to the here and now, this was their time. The closer he looked, and observed the breathtaking sight, the more he witnessed every little difference. This experience was one just for them.
"Yes…" Kamui assures, not holding a doubt. With a few energizing steps, he closes in towards one of the viewing stations. 'Not just like this…I want to see more of everything… looking closer.' Even if it hurts, doing so would always be worth it.
Subaru smoothly walks in closing the distance, resting behind his precious person. He slips a coin into the machine, heading a click of confirmation. Violet-blue eyes rest within the binoculars, witnessing an enchanting sight, how much closer. Every leaf, tree, flower, and grain of sand follows. Zooming into the sparkling sea only seems to bring out the further color, how blue the ocean really is.
"It's…beautiful," Kamui voices in awe, something about this moment bringing more of an enchanting scene than before. The ocean felt so different from the years before, vibrant and full of life.
Pleased within their private little space, the young man's lips curl up. Protective arms slip around Kamui's waist from behind. Enticing warmth fills him up as he leans back. "Do you want to look?"
"Uh-uh," Subaru shakes his head, pausing for a breath, he follows up "I have the perfect sight in front of me."
"Subaru?" Kamui calls tenderly, feeling his beloved wasn't referring to a shrine or a sparkling ocean. His heart is accelerating knowing to be swept away in seconds now.
"You're breathtaking." Subaru whispers, sincere, deep, and longing, showing exactly what he'd been looking at. Words holding clarity, as though the brilliant view or nature were just a backdrop to heighten the natural beauty of his lover.
Kamu's legs start to wobble, going weak at the raw affection. Subaru keeps him steady, as always, keeping him up if he were ever to fall. Sinking further back into the embrace, the small male is certain, that the sea has never looked so blue.
"You really should take a lot of the ocean at least…" Kamui insists, wanting 'his person' to see the same sights.
Leaning his head back, he can't resist, eyes now looking towards his favorite sight. The timer on the binoculars sets aside. Subaru leans his head lower to close the gap, and delicately their lips brush again, the cool sea breeze and elegant sight only further enhancing their moment. A new moment was made just for them.
Shrine
With a close distance from the Enoshima Iwaya caves is a beautiful historic Shrine. Kamui and Subaru had a new experience in front of them.
They were at the location, with an impressive flight of stairs to take all the way up. The beautiful red arch gatehouse around seemed to add to the enchantment of the shrine, passing under the arc gave a feeling of passing into another world, another period.
Approaching the site it became apparent how vast everything is here. How expensive it did make sense. They were not seeing just one shrine, but a collection of shrines: Matsumiya, Nakatsumiya, and Okutsumiya. The three shrines making up Enoshima island, are all watched by 3 goddesses representing the goddess of the ocean.
Nature played a huge role in decorating all around the enchanting landscape. Of course, for more touristy options there were several traditional food stalls, vendors, and inns scattered along the way.
Even at the beginning of the journey, they were brought to an attractive sight. An expansive tower gate modeled after a castle hovers over them. The gate itself proved to be popular, with tourists standing in front, taking photos.
Stepping in closer they could see intricate details on that gate. Painted blooming peonies were handcrafted along the walls and ceilings. While two fearsome lions are in paintings, on both sides of the wall, as though guarding the gate.
"This shrine is bigger than I expected it to be," Kamui's hand hovers just over the detailed art, carvings, and paintings decorated all along the archway.
"It is made up of three different shrines," Subaru supplies, feeling a sense of intrigue at how even the entrance to a shrine could attract such interest, and they still had much more to explore.
"I think I do remember reading that somewhere," Kamui recalls, giving a few last looks before passing through the gate. Happily, he walks hand in hand with his love.
Linked hands only part upon approaching the crystal clear fountain. They wash their hands before approaching the main worship center.
The couple's eyes are greeted with the clear sight of the island's main shrine. Light brown, white and gold cover all along the ceiling and walls. A large offering box and metallic-looking green ring lie in front of the main building.
A line, of visitors, waits in front, making small offerings. Subaru and Kamui get in line, watching the excitement fuel from many different people, taking their turn at the box, making wishes they hope to come true.
They begin tossing in the coins, bowing, clapping, and making a 'wish' of sorts. The concept of wishing tender, perhaps 'hoping' felt better.
"What did you 'wish' for?" Kamui inquires, as they explore the rest of the area. He winces upon realizing the choice of wording.
"It's a bit of a secret," Subaru says lightly, thankfully not seeming to reflect on the more dire side of making wishes. At least not openly.
"That's not fair," Kamui pouts, eyebrows lowering with frustration. "Now I really wanna know."
Subaru chuckles, ruffling his lover's hair with deep affection. "What about yourself?"
"I… well I…" Kamui flushes his heart, accelerating as he feels his lover's hands on both cheeks. "I-ah…" He knows he should be able to resist, to say something while they're out in public. "I asked you first so…"
Surely there were curious gazes at the beautiful couple. Neither man couldn't bring themselves to care for that, lost in their world again.
Warm breath ghosts over Kamui's lips. Violet-blue eyes automatically flutter as though having a will all their own. Plush pink lips pucker expectantly, waiting…
Sweetly, a brush of lips merely teases his temples. "For you," Subaru answers, vaguely yet getting the point across.
"What?" Kamui blinks his eyes open. He feels a tug on his hand to their next destination. But he didn't seem like he'd be getting his answer. Instead, Subaru looks toward him with hopeful expectations.
"I guess you say I did the same…" Kamui settles, answering about the same. Since they'd gotten closer, his kind-hearted boyfriend no longer held such painful wishes. His wants and desires are always selfless and kind.
Leading ahead, the older male follows a trail between the buildings and attractions. Beautiful lush gardens, trees, and flowers are surrounded all along the area. Another dragon statue is found, beautifully crafted amongst a fountain area.
Walking a little further along, they stop at a particular destination. A tree dedicated to connections. A large ginkgo tree stands incredibly tall. The trunk of the tree is split into two halves, yet those halves keep connected.
"The bounding tree." Has been written on a sign a few feet away from the destination.
"This is…" Kamui admires the sight, and the guests coming to worship the tree. Judging by the title and the tourists flocking with their love charms, he has an idea what this had been.
Subaru wraps his arm around Kamui's shoulder and pulls him in. A discreet kiss follows up on the side of Kamui's head. "What I wanted earlier…" 'What I 'wished' for…'
Kamui stumbles back a step but finds himself pulled right back up by a tender hand in his, and curved to his waist. Sparkling violet-blue orbs gaze up, fixated on their favorite person.
"Yes?"
Gradually, Kamui follows his lover towards the side, gaining space from other visitors.
"It's a bit selfish…"
Kamui affectionately rolls his eyes. Warm lips brush the shell of his ear. "Just tell me," He entertains the thought of Subaru possibly being 'selfish',.
"I want every year… for you…to be mine just as you are now," Subaru finally comes to admitting this much, eyes wavering with a little guilt. Yet, regardless of the intensity, darkening over mismatched eyes doesn't waver.
"No one else's. Not ever. Only mine and mine alone," Subaru expresses not unlike the feeling when feeling others threaten to harm Kamui. "In this way…" he emphasizes squeezing the hand within himself. "I want you all to myself…"
A little heat spring into the words further, making the younger boy is made to realize exactly how 'hot' the possessive side of his lover could be, in this context.
"I…want you to always look at me with those sparkling eyes in a way you do with no other. I want to protect those beautiful smiles….and…I want…" Subaru brings up Kamui's hand, caressing it against his lips. "For us to always be just like this, to celebrate this time of year, together, feeling completely connected.,"
"Ah…I-I don't think that's selfish," Kamui ensures, unable to resist the move of the hand at his lover's lips to a tender cheek. He swallows and steals a gentle kiss. "For starters… I'm already yours now and… forever."
The tender brush of lips is not nearly enough, so the young man pulls his boyfriend out until they can gain privacy. Subaru holds no complaints as they bury themselves in an empty area.
"If it is selfish… I'm just as guilty," Kamui admits, eyes glossing over, torn somewhere between wanting to spill over with every motion this man's brought to his world. I'm almost shy. Smile follows. "Because I want the same."
"Kamui…" Subaru breathes, swallowing hard at the intense gaze on him. He cherishes, embracing every millimeter of his love, his light, his hope.
'I want us to be bound for an eternity… 'Subarus' heart screamed inside its confine. And maybe, he can hold onto the hope, or rather the truth Kamui feels the same way, and will always feel the same.
-Lover's Hill-
Lush, greenery and vibrant blossoming colors seem to sparkle all around the island. The beautiful greenery and flowering landscapes add to the overall beauty of the shrine.
"Everything seems so peaceful," Kamui voices his thoughts aloud, Beautiful violet orbs flutter around to take in the calming sight of nature around them. "It seems so close to Tokyo, but we'd never hear about 'sudden' disasters taking place here…"
"Kamui…" Subaru begins a little wearily. He pulls them aside the main trail, cradling his lover's right hand within his own. "Please, None of that is your fault."
"I–I know…" Kamui wearily says, forcing a smile. He feels the hands around his clutch tightly. 'Not entirely.' He may not have caused the disasters themselves, but he did lack the understanding to protect, unable to create his own kekkai.
But it went beyond that…the main reason. When given the chance to put a 'fatal' end to the source of fighting, he could never follow through. He couldn't bear to 'strike at the heart.'
'No matter how I look at it…in the end, I did choose Fuuma's life over theirs…' Doing so…forgoing his wish would be a fate far crueler than any pain he's ever faced.
The world's savior knows he can't linger on this further. Truly, he never wanted to physically bring harm to his loved one. He couldn't bear to, of his own accord, end the life of one he loved. No, instead he was given no choice, but to do so and by the same person he
Life had a bitter sense of irony. Perhaps…if he thought more of his wish…questioned the 'true wish'...Kamui quickly shakes his head.
Past the harrowing storms, the sky came out anew, dazzling a rainbow beyond all rain. No, he couldn't linger on the what-ifs. Not when he feels his present, his future, wrapping arms around him securely. The warm body pulling closer to him felt intoxicating.
Beyond the storming clouds, and raging thunder was a brightness. Beyond Kamui's storm lies Subaru. He was given the chance to find happiness, to fall in deep love, which he never dreamed could be real…nor that he deserved. Yet…he could never stand to stay away.
"Kamui, " Subaru professes, breathing as warm and tender as ever over his lips. And 'oh', he is certain those quivering eyes captured every expression, every ounce of pain within violet-blue. Those dual-toned eyes wouldn't waver, seeing through Kamui to the core.
"Please know, you've already given the world…" Subaru begins tenderly, cutting off, and looking up with a sense of fondness. He shakes his head to clarify, "And you've given me hope…to care about my life and this world again."
"Su-...Baru," Kamui murmurs, eyes wavering, swaying with a watery emotion. Countless feelings swirl into a pair of violet-blue orbs, all of which become overcome by the raw feeling of love.
'How can I respond to that? Where do I begin?' Frequent thoughts take over. The idea, the words ensuring he'd manage to give, such a tender heart and the one more precious to him than anything, such hope again…was nothing short of breath-taking.
Subaru doesn't stop there, certain to express further as he pulls his lover into a deeper, tighter embrace. The smaller male's form becomes completely encased by the surrounding warmth, shielded from any passerby…expressions only for Subaru's eyes.
"I feel I've grown to know your heart, and how deeply you care…how you never wanted for any harm to come to anyone…how you blame yourself for such loss…when you were never given a choice in your fate, and your only option to end things early meant sacrificing that which is most precious."
"I…." Kamui closes his eyes, burying them in his lover's shoulder. He feels a storm brewing inside. His heart was so wound up, so overtaken by emotion, by the raw empathy, love…pure understanding. 'To hold this much compassion…' He reflects. Even when referring to past love, Subaru still kept his heart so open, and understanding. 'You really are perfect.'
Subaru was not yet satisfied with swaying his lover's heart as much as he had. No, he had to make certain he's conveyed all in his heart, said and done everything to show how, he'd been drowning in this love for so long, "No one has the right to place judgment on you, no one's ever been through your pain, your burdens. So please, don't hold those judgments for yourself."
"I-I know it's not all bad," Kamui cries, unable to prevent the wound of emotions from slipping beneath violet orbs. "Th-thank you, Subaru," he couldn't keep from choking up. His arms link tightly around his lover's neck, pulling him down, closer and closer until they were drawn in as though recalling a more positive notion
"A-and…I mean there's a positive… I have heard here…this island is said to be looking even more beautiful over the past year. The oceans seem purer, healing. "I like to believe that, maybe I was able to play a part…"
"It's not a maybe," Subaru shakes his head, entirely fond. `He can't prevent himself from stealing a lingering kiss. "It is thanks to you, that any of us can see the world like it is now," Subaru reminds, squeezing his lover's hand so tightly. "Please never forget this…"
Kamui murmurs a few strings of words, all muffled by Subaru's shirt collar. He sniffles, hands falling to the back of his lover's head, the side of his cheek. "I won't…not if you're the one saying it." Leaning up, with that bit of strength, he reaches up to his tip-toes pressing deep, soft, and rewarding kisses on his lover's lips.
Lingering, here, they could already feel so much, so deeply. Their hearts and souls fully connect, within the soft embrace. The world around them temporarily faded away. This moment was beautiful, an experience for them to appreciate, and soon they would have, all the time alone they needed. It's that hopeful thought that moves them to slowly separate, their bodies now connected, through clasped hands.
Lover's Bell
Continuing, they break away, affection blatantly obvious and earning more curious stares but it's nothing that can break this feeling of raw connection. A brisk and peaceful stop comes reaching a sign by a nearby shop, with dozens of different colors and shapes of padlocks combined.
A perfect heart-shaped lock comes into sight. Kamui's hand rests over it a split second before Subaru's fingers cradle the back of his hand.
"I guess we had the same idea," Kamui admits, lips curving up to a hopelessly gone smile. They take hold of one-half of the lock. The frame hosts beautiful emerald trim, whilst the main center shined with a beautiful, light violet hue.
"It seems we did," Subaru returns that same warm, love-sick energy. They exit the shop, feeling more certainty about their decision, another decision, a small but beautiful memory shared.
Returning to the trail they are brought to a familiar sight and feeling. Walking through various archways, and passing through a vivid surrounding garden only adds to the enchanting scene.
"Thank you for that," Kamui whispers, tender and sincere. He rests his raven head on Subaru's Shoulder, happy to feel the tightening clasp over his hand.
As though stirred on by the overflowing emotions, the world and path around them seem that much more beautiful. The roadway curves to a path covered on all sides, as though entering an enchanting place.
Approaching up the final set of stairs they reach their destination. The platform is colored with beautiful flowers of bright yellow, and whites.
The main attraction being the Dragon Lover's Bell is on full display. Four tall beams of various shades from teal to a lighter blue connect to create a 'house' for the bell. Encased by a solid frame, lies a beautiful gold bell in the center. The golden rays of sunlight, cast beautifully upon the sight, and the thinner parts of the frame reflect beautifully similar to stained glass. The sunlight brightens further as though extending their own best wishes for the couples coming by.
The gate itself creates the perfect frame for an already elegant portrait. It appears as a simple, dark plain color with a simple chain-link design. Perhaps, because of that simplicity, a wondrous spectrum of colors can shine all the more. Locks of every shape, size, and hue. The rainbow of different hues and tones creates a luxurious scene, an additional 'garden' of the flowers surrounding the love-fueled bell. The locks themselves are full of their sense of energy, all the love placed within, some from all around the world.
Pulling the beloved lock, out from his pocket, Subaru places part of it within Kamui's palm. Both pairs of eyes sparkle, transfixed, completely taken away by the moment.
Subaru can not help but reflect, mind entirely enamored. 'We chose this one together….' A lock to hang upon the fence, signifying and, creating further evidence of a lifetime of love for each other.
The next step would simply be to write their names and find a place that seems right. One they could always remember and cherish. Subaru reaches out to take a marker from his pocket, then completes their lover's lock at the sight. He intends to begin writing their names upon the lock.
"Can I write your name for you?" Kamui requests at the second the cap of the pen snaps open.
"Oh, yes…" Subaru agrees without question. There is still quite a curiosity within his eyes now lifting and shimmering.
"It feels…special that way, seeing the way you write my name, " Kamui admits meekly, flushing a bright pink. Rather abashed, and averted his eyes to focus solely on the gate in front of him. To put love, time, and devotion he writes out his most precious person's name. "Will you write mine?"
Subaru nods vigorously, entirely behind the sweet and tender gesture. "Of course, I'd love to…" He takes the marker and lock, viewing his name written elegantly, the connecting '+' sign, and the space beneath. Following this, Subaru takes his time, writing the name of his love with the neatest and most beautiful handwriting he can muster. No matter, how much effort he puts in, nothing seems quite enough to match the beauty, the enchanting feeling when thinking of his lover's name.
"Thank you," Kamui peers over at the padlock, admiring the writing of his name. Their names are linked close together, written by the one who loves them most. 'It feels so right.' His lover holds out one side of the heart, letting Kamui grasp, it. Together, they hold up the binding lock, settling upon a space, illuminated by sunlight, seemingly waiting for them.
"It's almost a shame we have to leave it here," Kamui comments, the thought crossing his mind once or twice. 'It can't be helped, when it's something we pick together…a part of me will always want to savor it.'
"We can keep it if you'd like," Subaru offers instantly, holding no doubts. Although knowing it would be a bit of a walk back and forth to retrieve another lock, it would always be worth it. Any distance was minimal when it came to Kamui's happiness. Subaru found his heart strong and incredibly weak at times like these. He could deny Kamui nothing.
"I knew you'd say that," Kamui says fondly, helping his lover to hold up and hook the lock in their own space. "But…I do mean 'almost', because… I do like that we'll have our lock here. And a place we can always return to, remembering this moment."
"Then it's settled," Subaru nods at the sweet sentiment. He takes Kamui's hand within his own, guiding their fingers to hold and close the padlock into place. A moment is spent admiring the colorful lock, their names written with so much love, and this symbol of unity.
Kamui enjoys the sight of it all. Subaru and himself out here, open and as strong, if not stronger than any other couple. A bond for eternity. His fingers lace within Subaru's own, neither takes their eyes off the sight, even as they begin to approach the bell.
"We'll need to ring it together, at the same time," Kamui mentions recalling, the brochures and information he'd read about the spot. Their hands were still intimately linked, a perfect connection, a link stronger than the lock that hung moments ago.
Subaru lifts their joined hands to the rope on the bell. There's no counting or measures needed. Both can feel as if the other's hand is about to move, sensing when the other is ready. Violet-blue falls helpless to a deep and darkening emerald- green and gold. Devotedly, eyes never part from each other, as they close their hands around the rope of the bell ringing it audibly.
At last, now ringing the lover's bell, the sound is ceremonious and hopeful. The sight of the sparkling sun, swinging golden bell, and the lock hanging to further symbolize love, is enough to take in.
Being together, looking into each other's eyes…it's too much to resist. They lose themselves within their own world, all else fading into the background. Fortune seemed to favor the pair.
"I love you, Subaru," Kamui professes, leaning up on his tiptoes. Long dark lashes come to a beautiful close, fluttering like the wings of a rare, enchanting butterfly. Beautiful plush pink lips, pushed out, all too eager for what's to come.
Subaru falls helpless to the sight. He swallows, eyes following every movement until violet-blue eyes fully close. His own shimmering orbs can't help but do the same, he licks his lips, before leaning down.
Closing the distance their lips, meld, connect and embrace into countless tender, and languid kisses. Simply, their lips move, sliding across, over, and under one another.
Half-lidded eyes peer out, upon feeling a warm pair of lips pulling away. "Su-" Kamui loses his breath, feeling swept up into one of the most spontaneous kisses he's ever dreamt of.
Subaru wraps his arms securely around Kamui's sleek waist, and broader upper back. He lunges his left leg extending it forward. Swiftly and securely, he leans forward, bringing Kamui into a low dip. Certain, Kamui is resting securely on his leg, he leans in to seal their lips together, placing them both in a hopelessly romantic scene.
The warmth Kamui longs for returns one-hundredfold, lips crashing, ravishing his own. He holds tightly to his lover's shoulders, feeling gravity shifting around him, his lover's arm secures around his waist, and upper back.
Tender yet passionate lips envelop every ounce, every millimeter making up Kamui. It's not long before the dizzying kiss deepens further, granting instantaneous access. Subaru's tongue slides between and slips deep within his lover's mouth. Feeling over every curve and crevice, then trailing over Kamui's tongue, he guides them both to becoming even further entangled.
Their lips cling together, pulling each other in, melding to become one, only breaking for a second. The need for air is the only cause for parting before they reconnect, stronger and deeper than ever. Lingering, their world brightens, connecting them further and deeper with each passing moment.
Subaru senses his lover's need to surface, hands clinging tighter to his shoulder blades. Kamui holds tighter to his beloved, going a little light-headed. He feels nothing but security when being held this close up.
Amorous violet orbs look curiously up, heart racing relentlessly. "Subaru?"
Whispers fall to the center of the younger man's ear. "I love you too, Kamui," Subaru professes, gentle, adoring, and to the most tender of kisses, before pulling them a little deeper. 'I'll love you…for an eternity.'
End
Part 1 ending notes: Sorry this update took so long, and I keep saying we are reaching the end but then get focused on adding more to the story, so yes this will be in parts but the 'final' chapters until the epilogue I feel I found myself loving to write very soft, loving moments for these two. I kind of did an anniversary chapter a little bit ago, though this time the official 'one-year mark'. Something which I think is significant, Subaru has been able to find happiness and security by falling in love the second time, and knowing there is no expiration to the kindness shown.
Their anniversary trip to Enoshima was decided upon looking through romantic. Google probably thinks I am planning a vacation but it's for fanfiction purposes. I have seen travel guides and video tours so, of course, I can not put into words everything and all the beauty of this place but I try to add a few highlight spots.
Their anniversary trip is a breather before going into the ceremony, which I imagine to be exhausting if someone were to take in power as intense as Kamui's. So Kamui may have to have some time nursing his love back to full strength :P which neither minds.
I will have the final part of the final chapter up next and an epilogue. So there will be two more updates after this one (and likely some one-shot ideas when this story is complete). Thank you to everyone for reading, giving kudos, bookmarking, and leaving wonderful comments, those things make my day and keep me going :) I hope you are enjoying these chapters and will be around until the ending.
(PS. CLAMP has released the final premium collection cover- for volume 7 of Tokyo Babylon OH my heart 💔. But it also is so cool to see new art for such beloved characters. Here is hoping we will have a premium collection for X in the near future (even if there's no official ending yet) seeing new art of everyone in the X verse would be amazing.) Anywho I hope all you lovely people are well and enjoy the next chapter part(s) for the finale :')
