Arrival of Avatar & Dragon!

In the sky above Berk all was peaceful as there were no dragons attacking that night. Which is a good thing for the people who live there as they're still trying to recover from the most recent dragon raid. It was really early in the morning and as a result the sun had yet to rise over the horizon, so it was still quite dark out. The only sources of light being from the torches lit around the village, and the light of the moon.

Suddenly, a tear opened up in the sky as though somebody ripped a hole in a piece of fabric. And out of that tear fell none other than the Avatar. And something else. Korra had stopped using the Avatar State as soon as she and Naga exited the tear in the fabric of reality, and they were now falling straight down to earth. Korra would have done something like use her Waterbending to create an ice ramp that she and Naga could use to gently slide down to safety. Except for one small problem.

She passed out as soon as the Avatar State wore off! Seems like the power output was just too much for her.

As she plummeted to her doom from several thousand feet in the air there was a bright flash of light followed by a high-pitched roar that was clearly reptilian in origin. Something flew through the air and caught Korra just above the treetops before gliding down through the forest outside of Berk and landing in a clearing. It wasn't a graceful landing by any means, but it wasn't a crash landing either. Korra groaned as she felt the pain from the landing and the exhaustion from entering the Avatar State for the first time in her life.

As she started to regain consciousness, Korra heard the sound of footsteps rushing towards her before something ran up her face. Kind of like how Naga would give somebody Polarbear-Doggie kisses. But when she cracked open her eyes, she saw that the creature was most certainly not a Polarbear-Dog.

It looked almost like a dragon. But it wasn't anything like the dragons that she's familiar with. Unlike the dragons that she's met, like Druk, this dragon doesn't have a long body resembling a snake. Instead, it has a lean body with a streamlined build that was clearly meant to make it fast and aerodynamic, and it had large wings that looked like they were meant to get it off the ground and accelerate quickly. At the end of its long tail was a set of fins that were likely meant for directional control, and it had a set of light mousy brown scales that looked like fur on its back, head, and a little on its chin. Its body is a sort of grayish-purplish color, and its wings and underbelly are mostly grayish blue. But it was the dragon's eyes that really caught Korra's attention and helped her realize just who this dragon was.

Those icy blue eyes.

"...Naga…?" she asked through her pain and exhaustion.

The dragon gave her its own unique form of smile which showed off its sharp, needle-like teeth. It seems like she got it in one guess. Korra didn't dare believe that this dragon was really her animal guide and best friend, Naga, alive and well. Fully healed after what those two bastards had done to her. It just couldn't be possible for a Polarbear-Dog to be fully transformed into a dragon like this. But then she remembered the words of Aang before he used his Energybending on her.

"...She may look different when you first see her again, but she is still the same Naga who you have always known and loved."

She realized that this was what Aang meant when he said that. It seems like Naga went through her own cycle of reincarnation. The body may be that of a different creature, but her soul is still the same Naga that she's always known and loved. She's fully healed and no longer dying because of the actions of two goons hired by the White Lotus as her teachers in fire and earthbending. She gave a small smile as relief flooded her system.

"Naga… You saved me. Good girl." Korra said tiredly as she put her hand on the dragon's muzzle.

The former Polarbear-Dog purred a draconic purr in her now high-pitched voice as she nuzzled closer to Korra, allowing the Avatar to wrap her arms around her neck in a hug. With a bit of effort on Korra's part, mostly due to phantom pains and exhaustion, she got onto Naga's back as the dragon began making her way deeper into the woods.

***To Be Continued…***

Ending AN: I'm sorry that this chapter is so short, but I genuinely couldn't think of any extra dialogue to add to this chapter. I want to have this story follow the events of the first film as closely as I can while changing some things about it, like how Stoick won't be as much of a jerk to Hiccup as he was in the first movie (before his eyes were opened, of course.) and of course Korra being there to help Hiccup on his journey to train dragons. I hope you all liked this chapter anyway, and I hope you all have a very merry Christmas!
