Hey guys. Thank you to jetblack1979 for this idea of chapter which was not originally planned for Wanda. Our heroes are going to have to go get Wanda. And they will have to go to Westview. Those who have seen WandaVision know what it will be about. Thank you so much.
Good reading!
Chapter 6: Westview
Since the appearance of the Pyms, all of our heroes had been working to build a new Quantum Tunnel that would lead them on their mission to save humanity through the ages of the past.
Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne had received help from Eliza Danvers, Shuri and Curtis. When the Quantum Tunnel began to take shape, Shuri and Eliza set out to design time space GPS.
As they all rejoiced in new hope, they had noticed the absence of Wanda Maximoff. She was the only one who didn't answer the call of the Avengers.
"When was the last time you saw her?" Bucky asked.
"The last time I saw her, she was burying Vision in Wakanda, and then she left," answered Alex. "I don't know where she went."
T'Challa added:
"When she was an outlaw, I know Vision was coming to Scotland to join her. She may be there."
"No, I checked," answered Shuri. "Our satellites didn't find her there."
J'onn used his telepathy to try to locate her. In vain.
"I can't access her mind. It's like she's closed in on everything."
"Wanda loved Vision," Sam reminded them sadly. "His death really upset her. She must be somewhere grieving for him."
"Or maybe she's in denial?" suggested Spider-Man.
"Right, this is all very interesting," said Yelena. "But that doesn't tell us where she is."
It was then that Eliza joined them.
"Excuse me, I think you should come see this."
She guided the heroes to the compound's labs. It displayed a holographic image of the United States where a reddish dot flashed.
"The satellite picks up strange signals of electromagnetic radiation," she explained, showing them the hologram. "And the signal is coming from New Jersey."
"What would that be?" asked Peter, confused. "And why in New Jersey?"
"This radiation could be consistent with Wanda's powers," Sam said, frowning. "Why would she go to New Jersey?"
"The true question's what is she doing in New Jersey," corrected Alex. "These radiations continue to grow."
"The anomaly comes from the town of Westview," Eliza continued. "Whatever Wanda's doing, it's really powerful."
"So we have to go to New Jersey and see what's going on," J'onn said.
Later, Yelena piloted an Avengers Quinjet, with Alex, Spider-Man, and J'onn aboard. She landed the hovercraft on a vacant lot near a town in New Jersey. They arrived at the welcome sign for a town called Westview.
Arriving towards the road that led to the city, they saw no one. Nor a cat. Nor a parked car. It almost looked like a city without any inhabitant or vehicle, which did not surprise the four heroes. They assumed it was a consequence of the decimation.
Yelena surveyed the deserted town of Westview with a dubious gaze.
"This is where the anomaly comes from? I don't see anything weird, apart from a deserted town. Look, every town in the world has become practically deserted."
"I researched Westview during the flight," explained Alex. "Small town with population 3,892. But with the Snap, it's difficult to say how many people who have not been dusted."
"Why would Wanda come here?" Spider-Man asked. "Why a lost town in New Jersey?"
J'onn summoned his telepathy, then shook his head.
"I don't feel any thoughts. It's like the town's dead."
"Would we have come for nothing?" Yelena wondered.
"No, there's an anomaly in this town," objected Alex. "And we know that Wanda's there. We have to go there."
But as they took a few steps, Spider-Man stopped walking and looked anxious.
"There's something wrong. Looks like this town doesn't want us."
Alex and Yelena kept walking. They passed the "WELCOME TO WESTVIEW" sign before hitting something invisible, solid and very violent.
"Wow! What the hell's that thing?" exclaimed Spider-Man.
Alex proceeded to touch what appeared to be an invisible barrier creating ripples like an old television from the 50s. All multicolored wavelengths full of static and violet and a loud, furious buzz. It stretched for miles on either side. Yelena gently put her hand down and created more ripples.
"It looks like some kind of electromagnetic field," declared Alex stunned.
"Whatever it is, it goes all the way around for miles," Yelena added, looking around.
Spider-Man began digging his hands into the invisible barrier, creating even more ripples.
"It's deep," he said. "I don't know if we can cross it."
"Alex, Peter, Yelena, I'm not sure it's safe to go in there," J'onn said dubiously. "We have no idea what it is. We should contact the Avengers."
"No, we don't have time," declared Alex. "We finally have a chance to bring everyone back and we need Wanda. We have to go through this thing, get to this town and find her."
"I agree with J'onn," Spider-Man replied. "We shouldn't go into this... this wall of television or anything by ourselves."
"We can't back down, we have to move forward," Yelena said.
"Let's go," said Alex firmly.
J'onn sighed then ended up following the two women, then the young hero from Queens joined them in turn.
"I've a very bad feeling. Like going to Moria and meeting Goblins and a Balrog instead of Dwarves."
"What?" Yelena wondered.
"Peter, focus! We are together and we will get through this, we have to," said Alex.
And in one seamless motion, Alex, Yelena, Spider-Man, and J'onn broke through the barrier and found themselves in Westview, New Jersey.
They made their way through a town that was the same when they arrived.
"Damn!" Alex commented. "It's like Wanda doesn't want us to find this town."
"Why would she do that?" Yelena asked stunned. "Hey... I can't see the Quinjet anymore."
All four looked back and noted with amazement that the Quinjet they had dropped off in New Jersey had either disappeared or become invisible. And the barrier seemed blurry and very fragmented, distorting everything.
"Are my eyes playing tricks on me or am I losing color?" she resumed with bewilderment.
"No, you've a good view," J'onn replied in amazement.
Indeed, our four heroes had noticed that their entire environment no longer had the slightest color. Everything was white and black. As if they had entered a universe of black and white television.
"Holy crap! Are we in Pleasantville?" wondered the young hero from Queens.
"First a TV wall, and now, a black and white universe?" wondered Alex stunned.
"Uh… J'onn, girls," exclaimed Spider-Man, noticing something even stranger. "Have you seen how we're dressed?"
The young man discovered with astonishment and amazement that he no longer wore his Spider-Man's suit. As if it had disappeared. Instead, Peter Parker wore an old-fashioned jacket and sweater, tie, and long pants with black shoes.
The others also discovered their new clothes. Alex now wore a black and white polka dot dress, black heeled shoes with a vintage look hat and a handbag. Yelena wore silk gloves, a pencil skirt and a bandana tied in her hair. And J'onn meanwhile, wore a black jacket over a white shirt with a black tie with a black hat on his head.
All four were dazed by their new appearances.
"Where are our clothes?" Yelena wondered stunned, looking at her pencil skirt. "What are these outfits? Natasha would laugh at me if she saw me dressed like that! Why do we wear these things?"
"I have no idea," said Peter, looking at his jacket and tie. "This isn't me!"
"It's like we've changed our times." added J'onn amazed.
"Judging by the look of the clothes, I would say the 50s," replied Alex, looking at her polka dot dress. "If Kara saw me dressed like that…" (Then she gave the Martian an amused look.) "Nice hat, J'onn.
"Uh… thanks," he answered, a little embarrassed by removing his headgear.
"So what do we do?" Peter asked stunned and confused.
"We're here! Let's try to find out… all of this," Yelena replied dumbfounded. "There is indeed an anomaly in this town."
The four heroes walked through the city. It looked as normal as any small old town. Yet Alex, Yelena and Peter felt that something was wrong.
"This town's weird," Yelena said aloud. "Do you feel it?"
"Yeah, I can feel it," added Alex fearfully.
When they reached the city center, it was to see people dressed like in the 50s. But the strangest thing was that they were all motionless like statues. None moved. All were silent and motionless.
"More and more weird," Peter commented anxiously, looking at the frozen people. "It's like something out of the Twilight Zone. It's even worse than Thanos."
J'onn used his telepathy, then finally retorted.
"I don't pick up any thoughts. It's like these people have been put on pause or silent mode."
"You mean like we're in a TV series and we paused the player?" asked Alex taken aback.
"Absolutely," agreed the Martian.
Finally, a blond woman dressed in a beautiful old dress came to see them, with a smile on her face. She greeted them warmly:
"Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview.
Stunned, the four heroes looked at each other, then J'onn turned to the woman.
"Uh… hello. Can you tell us what's going on here?
But the Dottie wife continued to welcome them warmly:
"Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview."
Frowning, the visitors eyed the woman in anguish.
"That's weird," Peter replied.
"Uh… excuse me ma'am, but are you feeling all right?" asked Alex puzzled.
But Dottie only repeated her greeting with the same gestures like a programmed automaton.
"Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview."
"Dottie, can you hear me?" asked Alex with concern.
"Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview." repeated Dottie with the same smile.
"She's like a robot." exclaimed Yelena stunned.
J'onn once again appealed to his telepathy and brought answers to his friends:
"This woman is subject to mind control. Something or someone is controlling her mind."
"Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview." the blonde woman continued.
"I think I'm going to go mad hearing her speak," said Yelena with anguish.
"Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview."
Our four heroes ended up moving away from Dottie who continued her welcome to the city on a loop.
They took a few steps into town and came to a theater where they could see people entering.
"Let's go to this theater," proposed Alex. "Maybe we'll find sane people."
"With this anomaly, I'm pretty sure no one is sane here," Peter replied.
"You're right, Peter, but we need answers," J'onn said. "And we need to ask the people of this town about Wanda."
They burst into the theater lobby, which was empty. But they saw that the bar was full of people. Some were chatting, others were laughing.
"It's really scary," commented Peter shocked.
"Need some help, dears?"
Peter jumped when he heard a female voice behind him. Our four heroes discovered a woman with dark hair and a pencil dress right in front of them, with a smile on her face. Unlike Dottie, she didn't look like an automaton. Alex and Yelena were wary, as the dark-haired woman addressed them, in a friendly manner:
"Are you new in town? Welcome to Westview. We love strangers who come to see us." (She suddenly pointed to Yelena.) "Oh, but I know who you are."
"Really?" wondered the Black Widow taken aback.
"Yes." replied the woman, taking a newspaper out of her bag. "You are the star o' the show who has just arrived."
"The…. The star o' the show? What are you talking about?" asked Yelena shocked and stunned.
The woman revealed the front page of the newspaper which showed Yelena Belova in a resplendent evening dress. The title indicated that she was a famous singer and dancer. Black Widow stared at the diary page, her eyes wide in shock.
"Is…is that a joke?"
"Don't be so modest, Miss Yelena Belova," the brunette woman replied with complete indifference to Yelena's shocked expression. "You are the most famous person in our country. And it's an honor to have such a talented dancer in our beautiful town of New Jersey."
"Am I a dancer and singer?" Yelena exclaimed in bewilderment.
Then the woman turned to J'onn.
"Oh and you, you must be Jon Johns, the new private detective transferred to Westview."
"Jon Johns?" wondered J'onn dumbfounded. "And I'm... a private detective?"
"And not to mention your friends, of course," replied the woman, looking at Alex and Peter who remained speechless with astonishment. "It's such a pleasure to meet new residents. We don't often get people from outside here these days. My husband Ralph says it has to do with those dark times…oh sorry, I'm clumsy! I talk too much! I'm sorry!"
"Uh… who are you" Alex asked, making the woman smile even more.
"I'm Agnes, darling. I am your neighbor. Everyone's friendly neighbor as I'm called. I know everything that's going on in this town, so don't hesitate to come see me if you need anything. I'm friends with everyone at Westview. I'm sure the five of us will get along."
Then she looked at Peter, still smiling.
"Oh, this is a cute and handsome young boy!" she exclaimed, pinching his cheek with her fingers. "And he's muscular too. I'm sure you'll like it here, dear."
Uncomfortable, Peter moved away from Agnes, while J'onn addressed the woman.
"Uh… Agnes, nice to meet you. We're coming to town to see Wanda. Wanda Maximoff. She's our friend. Can you tell us where she is?"
At the mention of Wanda, Agnes giggled and retorted:
"Wanda's friends? No wonder you're so good. Everyone in Westview knows where to find her. She's our best magical girl. You will find her easily. Usually she finds you. But I won't bother you any further. You have your own agency to set up, Mr. Johns. (Turns to Yelena.) Good luck with your performance tonight."
"My performance tonight?" Yelena exclaimed in bewilderment. "Am I giving a show tonight?"
"Of course, darling," answered Agnes still with a smile. "That's what you're here for. Good luck and blow us away!"
And she walked away, still smiling friendly.
Yelena turned to her friends with concern.
"I have no idea what I have to play tonight. I'm not going to go on stage and sing or dance. I don't know how to do that!"
"Weird woman!" Alex commented.
"She doesn't look like she's under mind control," J'onn said.
"Guys, what do we do?" Yelena asked still anxiously.
"We have to find Wanda," retorted the Martian. "She alone can tell us what's going on. Explain this anomaly. I think we should part. We could..."
He paused when he noticed that neither Peter, Alex, or Yelena were with him. It's as if they had disappeared.
"Alex? Peter? Yelena? Where are you? Alex! Where are you, guys? Peter? Yelena?"
He looked around, but saw no trace of his friends. As if they had evaporated.
"It can't be!" he exclaimed stunned.
He looked around the theater, but eventually realized his friends were gone.
"What's happening?"
Later, J'onn was walking around town looking for Alex, Peter, and Yelena. But he saw none of the three. He could see some passers-by walking around ignoring him. But others were motionless or gestured in a loop, which shocked the Martian.
Then he finally discovered a building whose office was on the ground floor. On the window was marked: Jon Johns, private detective. Obviously, he had just found his workplace in Westview. If he was indeed a detective, he could try to find his allies easily.
Upon entering his agency, he discovered an office full of paperwork with a very old typewriter and A Western Electric model 500 telephone.
"It's the 50s," he grumbled, looking at the old typewriter. "No internet to find my friends."
And he saw an old radio set with aerials. Intrigued, he turned it on and immediately, a song resembling the credits of a sitcom sounded in the old speakers:
"Oh - Oh
A newlywed couple just moved to town
A regular husband and wife
Who left the big city
To find a quiet life
WandaVision…"
"WandaVision?" wondered J'onn dumbfounded. "Wanda and Vision?"
"She's a magical gal
In a small town locale
He's a hubby who's part machine
How will this duo fit in and fulfill all?
By sharing a love like you've never seen
WandaVision…"
"Wanda and Vision?" resumed the Martian, stopping the radio. "Vision like… Avengers' Vision? Wanda, what did you do?"
Then, he began to use his telepathy to locate the source of Westview's anomaly. A time passed, without him discovering anything. He felt the emotions of the inhabitants of the small town. People were going about their business, but the Martian had understood that none of the inhabitants of Westview were themselves. As if they were bewitched or manipulated. By who? Wanda? Would Wanda Maximoff of the Avengers be at the origin of the anomaly striking this city of New Jersey?
While concentrating on his telepathy, he felt pain, grief. A very deep feeling of sadness. And he heard Wanda's voice. Like she was telling the people of Westview what to do. And then he felt a big despair. J'onn knew that Wanda was suffering from Vision loss. Could it be that her pain acted on her psychic powers, causing her to create this strange anomaly?
Then an ominous thought came to mind. If the people of Westview were mind controlled then it was likely that Alex, Yelena and Peter suffered the same fate.
He ends up getting out of the detective agency. He looked at the people around him with concern. All the inhabitants were just repeating the same movements and the same conversations, as if they were puppets led by someone.
"My God! Wanda, why are you doing this?"muttered the stunned Martian.
As he walked, he spotted Dottie in the same spot where he had last seen her and just kept repeating the same gestures of greeting.
"Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview. Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview. Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview. Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview."
He moved forward to face her. The blonde woman didn't even look at him, only repeating her greeting over and over, smiling oddly, which wasn't joy.
J'onn put his fingers to Dottie's temple and used his telepathy. The young woman stopped talking and the Martian managed to bring her out of her trapped mental state. Instantly, Dottie looked panicked and addressed J'onn in a pleading voice:
"Please! Please, help me! You must help me, please! What day it is? How long have has it been?"
"Dottie, calm yourself! It's okay," J'onn told her, encouraging the young woman to relax.
But the young woman remained panicked.
"My name's not Dottie, I'm Sarah. Stop her, please! You have to stop her!"
"Stop who?" asked the confused Martian.
"Wanda! Her voice's in my head!" she exclaimed in terror. "None of it is my own! She controls my whole head! It hurts so much…"
"Sarah, keep calm, I'll do everything to help you," said J'onn in a reassuring voice.
"I have… I have a daughter who is eight years old…" resumed Sarah with tears in her eyes. "She's all I've had since the Snap. I would like to take her in my arms, hug her! Please let me see my daughter! Stop Wanda!"
"Do you know where I can find her?"
"She's everywhere! Her voice's everywhere in this town! Just make her stop!"
Then Sarah stopped shouting and resumed her repetitive monologue of welcome, repeating in a loop:
"Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview. Hello, I am Dottie. Welcome to Westview."
Very anxious, J'onn looked at her before walking away. In his entire life, J'onn had never faced such a level of mind control. It was even more powerful than the Martian practice of Ta'ar Kar'iq. Wanda had apparently created a universe in the form of a sitcom and forced people to be actors in it. Was she doing it on purpose or accidentally? The last time he saw her was after Thanos died. She was no longer rational at all. How could she have gone from this state of mind to this?
While searching for Wanda, he began to use his telepathy to find his friends. And his mind put him on Alex's position, not far from him.
He took a few steps downtown, and eventually found a doctor's office whose name displayed on the window was Doctor Alexandra Danvers. Alex was a pediatrician in this black and white TV universe?
When he entered the doctor's office, it was to find Alex caring for an elderly couple. She gave the old lady some pills with a reassuring look.
"With his pills, you'll have less dizziness," she told her smiling. "But be careful not to consume too much. That would be too bad considering your age. Take good care of yourself, Mrs. Hart."
The old lady's husband replied gratefully:
"Thank you, Doctor Danvers. I've been worrying a lot about my wife for days. She has dizziness all the time. And besides, I have to go to dinner with my employee and his wife. I hope he lives up to my expectations. Sometimes I feel like he's missing a fuse."
J'onn then heard several ecstatic laughs, as if coming from an audience watching a hilarious sitcom.
"Where does it come from?" he muttered, hearing the strange laughter coming from nowhere.
"I'm sure this dinner will go well, Mr. Hart, "answered Alex smiling. "Goodbye, Mr. and Mrs. Hart. Have a nice evening. And good dinner."
"Thank you very much Alexandra," answered Mrs. Hart. "Sometimes I feel like you fell from the sky."
"I'm told that very often," answered Alex laughing.
The laughter of the imaginary audience resumed again.
J'onn moved aside to let the elderly couple out, and turned to Alex. The latter eyed the Martian with a strange smile.
"Can I help you?"
"Alex, it's me, J'onn."
"Yes, I know you're Jon," answered Alex in a natural tone. "You are the new private detective… Jon Johnes. Can I help you, Mr. Johnes."
"Alex, you're not a doctor," J'onn alerted him anxiously. "None of this is real!"
Alex then looked at the Martian, behaving like a doctor diagnosing a disease in a patient.
"Are you having an existential crisis? Do you have absences? In that case, I'm sorry, but I would recommend that you see a psychiatric specialist."
"Alex, I'm serious," resumed J'onn panicked. "None of this is real. This office! And this whole town! Nothing is normal! And you are not a doctor!"
"What are you saying?" retorted the intrigued young woman. "And why are you calling me Alex? My name is Alexandra. Alex, that sounds very masculine. What's wrong? I live happily in Westview. I have a job that I like and I have my son who fills me with happiness."
"Your son?" J'onn wondered, his eyes wide with amazement, wondering if he had heard correctly.
"Yes, my son Peter. I adopted him recently."
It was then that Peter arrived, wearing a simple white shirt with suspenders and black pants.
"Have I been called?" he asked.
Alex turned to him with a smile on her face.
"Hey kiddo! How are algebra exams going?"
Peter shrugged.
"You know I'm good at algebra, Mom."
"Mom?" J'onn cried stunned to hear Peter call Alex mom.
"And tell me about the bones of the human skull," asked Alex, still smiling.
"The parietal, occipital, frontal, temporal, sphenoid, ethmoid, lacrimal bones..."
Alex looked ecstatic as she gestured her son to J'onn.
"You see that? Do you know many young people who are as genius as him? His head is full of neurons. But be careful that it does not overflow the head!"
And the audience's laughter resumed.
Annoyed, J'onn turned to the young man.
"Peter! Come back to your senses! Nothing around us is real! You don't live in Westview and you don't have an adoptive mother."
Peter looked at J'onn with anguish and started to jump back.
"Hey buddy, are you sure you're feeling good?"
J'onn then began to address another more relevant question.
"How long has she adopted you, Peter?" he asked in a calm voice.
The young man thought in his head and seemed intrigued, even more anxious.
"I… I don't know. I don't know how long she adopted me. My biological family. Why can't I remember them? I've friends. I know I have two friends hanging out with me. And they are not in Westview. So then where are they? Why aren't they here? I don't understand! What's wrong?
Worried, Alex grabbed Peter by the shoulders and dragged him away from J'onn, glaring at him furiously.
"Leave my son alone! You are scaring him!"
J'onn then turned to her.
"Alex, have you always lived in Westview? Were you born here?"
Alex stopped being angry and looked confused and worried.
"I… I… I don't know. Why do I have no idea where I was born?"
"Your parents, Alex?" added the Martian in a calm voice. "Can you tell me your parents' names?"
Alex looked more and more worried, even terrified.
"My parents' names are… their names are… I don't know… why don't I know my parents' names? What the hell's going on?"
"What about Kara? Does this name mean anything to you? Kara!"
At the mention of this name, Alex reacts with anguish.
"Kara? Kara! I... I know that name!"
"Mom, who's Kara?" Peter asked confused and stunned.
"I know who Kara is!" exclaimed Alex stunned and distraught. "Where is she? Kara, where are you? Why aren't you here? I need you!"
It was then that the closet door opened, and Yelena entered.
"Thank God, your office is still open," she exclaimed relieved. "I thought I was gonna have to go to another dump to get pills."
At the sight of Yelena, Alex and Peter completely forgot about J'onn and resumed their natural smiles, as if the Martian hadn't interrupted them.
"Oh, our singing and dancing star's coming to me for treatment."cried Alex ecstatic having forgotten everything about what she had just done.
"Oh my Godness! It's Yelena Belova!" Peter exclaimed euphorically and excitedly. "Oh, I need a pen and a sheet. I want an autograph! She has one of her stage performances. When she does this kind of pose and shakes her head down when she dances."
"Peter," scolded Alex behaving like a mother scolding her child. "Watch your manners in front of a lady, please."
"It doesn't matter, I'm used to young people," Yelena answered indifferently.
Relieved to see the Black Widow, J'onn walked over to her.
"Yelena, we need to talk."
She gave the Martian a suspicious look.
"Who are you? Another one of my fans?"
"Yelena, you're neither a dancer nor a singer," J'onn replied, shaking his head. "Nothing that makes up your life is real."
A little anxious, Yelena joined Alex.
"I came to take pills to calm my stress this evening. I have a very complex performance to make and the last thing I need is to worry about the ravings of a crazy guys. Is there a madhouse in your godforsaken town?"
"Yelena, where were you before you got to Westview?"J'onn insisted with determination. "Were you really on tour for your show? Tell me where you were before you got to Westview."
Yelena stopped grumbling and looked confused. A moment passed and began to respond, looking at the Martian with anguish.
"I don't know. I can't remember where I was before I got here. It's as if my memory had been erased. Would I have become amnesic?"
"That's what we'll see." J'onn continued calmly. "Natasha Romanoff. Do you know this name?"
At the mention of the missing Avenger's name, Yelena looked totally distressed.
"Natasha! I know Natasha! She's my sister! Where is she? Why am I here? I... I don't understand anything…"
Then the Martian used his telepathy by talking to his three friends:
"Kara…Tony Stark… Natasha Romanoff… Supergirl… Iron-Man… Black Widow…"
At these names, the three visitors remained inert, as if frozen. J'onn then used his psychic powers to make them themselves. Instantly, Alex, Peter and Yelena jumped in horror, realizing the absurdity of their surroundings.
"Holy crap, what the hell's this?" Peter exclaimed horrified. "Why am I wearing this shirt and why am I calling Alex mom?"
"J'onn, this town's driving us crazy!" exclaimed Alex, turning to the Martian in despair. "I was with you at the theater and then... it was like my instinct was telling me to be a doctor in this town. But I don't decide anything. It's like my brain is being controlled remotely by someone. I can't think for myself. This town rewrites all my life to make me believe that I have always lived here. And I feel sorrow, despair and big grief."
"Yeah, me too," replied Yelena as horrified as them. "Compared to the enslavement of the Red Room, it is much stronger. It's like this town wanted to lock us into a world of dreams. The more I resist, the more this city maintains control."
"That's exactly the same for me," resumed Peter horrified. "Before we entered this place, that didn't want us, and now it's like this town wanted to keep us prisoner. Prevent us from escaping."
"It's not Westview, it's Wanda," J'onn replied. "She the one who causes all of this! This electromagnetic barrier that surrounds the town. Mind control and all of this of the 1950s. She created a sitcom universe and all these people are the actors. Including the three of you."
"You say that she leads us like puppets?" Yelena exclaimed in shock. "Why would she do that?"
"I don't know."
"And why create a sitcom?" asked Alex dumbfounded.
"I don't know. I haven't been able to locate her yet," J'onn continued. "I had telepathic barriers set up. It'll protect you from Wanda's mind control for a while."
"Why doesn't it affect you like us?" pointed out Peter.
"J'onn is a telepathic Martian," explained Alex. "I imagine his physiology makes him immune to all that! Thank you, J'onn. I never dreamed of being a doctor in a 50s sitcom."
"I would have preferred to be something other than a dancer," grumbled Yelena, looking at her resplendent dress under her coat. "That's a lot of nonsense!"
"So, what do we do?" Peter asked. "Can we get out of here before she tries to brainwash us again?"
"No, if we want to stop all this, we have to find Wanda," retorted J'onn."She's the only one who can stop all this."
"What if she doesn't want it to stop?" declared the Black Widow unconvinced.
"Yelena, we can't let her rule these people like toys," said Alex insistently. "This madness must stop."
"We must find her," resumed the Martian with determination.
"We're in a small town," Peter pointed out. "It shouldn't be hard to find her!"
"Come on!" Yelena insisted firmly. "Get me out of this nightmare! Let's finish it!"
The four heroes left the doctor's office to see the residents of Westview walking around with similar gestures.
"Wanda should be so powerful to be able to create all that!" Yelena remarked in amazement.
"J'onn, girls, something's changing!" Peter exclaimed in amazement.
"What now?" exclaimed Alex shocked and distraught.
"My hands!"yelled Yelena stunned and intrigued. "Look at my hands! They are in color!"
She revealed her hands to her friends. Everyone could see that the color had returned. They began to look at each other when Alex exclaimed in shock:
"Peter, your face is in color too!"
Instinctively, the young man touched his face and saw that all his limbs were in color.
Then they discovered that everything around them was changing. The black and white disappeared as if erased with the stroke of an eraser and color returned to town.
"We're not black and white anymore?" wondered Peter dumbfounded. "Wanda shut it down?"
"No, she didn't shut anything," J'onn said shocked. "Times have changed!"
"Our clothes have changed again," surprised Yelena.
"Hey, my hair has grown!" wondered the young man from Queens, touching his hair. "Oh my God, I became a girl!"
He found that he was wearing a white shirt with a black leather coat. And his hair had become very long. J'onn was now wearing a blue shirt and white jeans. Alex wore flared pants with a pop orange t-shirt. And Yelena wore a silk midi skirt.
"Wanda could let us choose our clothes," growled Yelena looking at her skirt. "It's not me at all!"
"What times now?" Peter asked.
Alex looked at her new clothes and her surroundings. The whole town was in color. She saw old model cars like the 1969 Chevy Camaro, 1969 Dodge Challenger, and 1966 Pontiac GTO Coupe. And the civilians wore similar looks to the visitors, with a few men who had long hair and very big mustaches.
"I would say we are in the 70s," she replied to her friends.
"The 70's?" Yelena retorted in amazement. "Seriously?"
"We have to find Wanda," said J'onn.
"We're screwed, guys!" muttered Peter, shocked.
And it's done for this chapter.
I hope you will enjoy it. This chapter wasn't originally planned, but it was jetblack1979 who gave me the idea for Wanda. I introduced the WandaVision universe in my story. In my previous stories, Wanda, instead of creating a sitcom, brought Vision back to the Injustice's Earth, and here, as Wanda retreated to Westview, the events of WandaVision in Injustice do not occur.
I put the song from the first episode of WandaVision, and the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Hart, as a tribute to the first episode of WandaVision.
J'onn being a telepath, is able to resist Wanda's mind control. And he will do everything to convince her to give up the Hex.
