Edo Lucy frowned and tapped her foot against the soil impatiently. He was supposed to be there five minutes ago. Finally, she let out a sigh when the sound of a car engine could be heard about a couple yards away. Waiting until he got closer, she stuck up her thumb like a hitchhiker would do. And as she expected, the car slowed to a stop right beside her.
She ripped open the door and hopped in, crossing her arms in anger. "What took you so long?" Edo Lucy asked. The man beside her, Edo Natsu, rolled his eyes. Oh yeah, she forgot. Whenever Edo Natsu was in his car, he somehow gained the confidence of a hundred men. It was attractive, don't get her wrong, but she really didn't need the smartass attitude right now.
"You had me drive them practically up to the castle. Of course it would take me a while to get where I am now. And besides, I had to drive slow. This car is running out of lacrima fuel quickly, I don't know how long it'll last," he sighed and frowned at the road ahead of him. "I can probably make it back to the guild, even after you guys relocated. But after that, this car is toast. God, you just had to send me on that little errand didn't you?" Edo Natsu scoffed, leaning back in his seat. He gripped the steering wheel tightly and sped up just a bit to let off some steam. Edo Lucy watched with a roll of her eyes.
"They needed help, they're the only ones who even had the balls to want to fight the king. I respect that." Edo Lucy told him straight out. She didn't expect his reaction though. Edo Natsu turned to Edo Lucy and gave her a smirk.
"I can see you're getting soft. Not that I'm complaining." He told her with a small chuckle. Even through her blush, Edo Lucy managed to cross her arms and smirk back at him.
"You trying to flirt with me now? That's pretty bold of you Dragion. I'm almost impressed." She laughed. Seeing him suddenly blush and return back to his other self, the more shy and reserved part of him, she nodded to herself. That's what she thought.
"W-Well, flirt is a stron, strong word..." He stuttered, focusing back on the road as to not have to look at her. Edo Lucy resisted the urge to giggle right out. Yeah, it didn't hurt to see a more dominant side of the Natsu she knew, but she liked this side more. Being in control was just so much more fun. Edo Lucy shook her head and let out a chuckle.
It was only a few minutes later that they made it back to the guild. Edo Natsu stepped out of the car and walked around it, opening the door for Edo Lucy to step out. He had learned to do that after the numerous beatings he got being "rude for not helping out a lady" or whatever. Edo Lucy stepped out and allowed Edo Natsu to shut the door behind her. They stepped into the guild, only to be bombarded by the whole guild.
"Lucy you made it back!"
"I'm glad that you're okay, Lucy!"
"Damn, and here I thought she was really dead. A shame."
"Oh I see you brought Natsu back with you!"
"Natsu, good to see you man! Happy you're okay!"
Edo Lucy and Edo Natsu shuffled through the crowd before finally being able to sit down. Edo Lucy sighed and watched her rambunctious guild cheer for their return. Well, now was as good as time as any. Stepping up on a bar stool, then on the counter, she shouted throughout the guild to get their attention. It went deadly silent as they stared at her.
From the corner of her eye, she could see even Edo Natsu was confused about what she was doing. Edo Lucy cleared her throat and began to shout. "Everyone! As most of you know, that other team of Fairy Tail is going up against the king! Well I'm going to tell you right now why that's a load of horse shit!" Groups of people gasped at her choice in language. While others just stared at her.
"Don't you get it? These people aren't even from our world and they have the guts to fight the king on their own! Why haven't we even attempted yet!? Why are we scared to even try!? The king made us suffer for years, and we sat back and took it. Well I say, no more!" Edo Lucy screamed, holding up her fist in fury. Honestly, she expected more people to stand with her. But there was just silence. Until a voice spoke out.
"How can we even help? It's obvious the other Fairy Tail has far superior magic than we do." Someone from the crowd shouted back.
"Yeah, and we're a dark guild. If we charge head first, we might as well be giving ourselves to them."
"Seriously! And we're so outnumbered! We won't last an hour!"
More and more people began to argue with the idea of fighting. Edo Lucy crossed her arms and glared down at the guild. "You guys are pathetic! Guilds stick up for their members! We haven't been doing that for our lost members since day one! Yes, we might lose, but we might win as well! And remember, the other Fairy Tail will be by our side and help us win this battle. We need to be apart of it or we'll regret it! Don't you want to clear the Fairy Tail name of it's dark guild title! Come on people, grow a pear!"
Another pause of silence. Then, a laugh broke out, getting every member to turn to the person who created said laugh. To their surprise, it was Edo Levy. "Man, blondie. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I agree with you," Edo Levy then turned to everyone else. "Come on guys, I'm sick and tired of transporting us everywhere. We're supposed to help people, which includes ourselves!" Slowly, more people began to agree. Chatter spread throughout the guild, and some were still skeptical but it seemed liked everyone was in board.
"So are we doing this or what!" Edo Lucy cheered.
"Aye sir!" The guild cheered back. Quickly, every member of the guild began to rush out of the guild and towards the kingdom. Edo Lucy jumped from the counter and onto the ground. She smiled at Edo Mirajand and Lisanna.
"You guys coming?" She asked them.
"Of course Lucy! Wouldn't miss it!" Lisanna smiled, almost sadly. Though Edo Lucy was slightly worried for her white haired friend, she shrugged it off and ran off with Edo Natsu. They both hopped into the car, Edo Natsu driving away so they could catch up with the others. It was quiet in the car with just the two of them. Just their thoughts of the upcoming battle.
"That was an emotional speech, Lucy. Did you even believe everything you said?" Edo Natsu asked truthfully. Edo Lucy turned to him and gave him a genuine smile.
"You want the truth? Most of it yeah, I meant it. But it doesn't excuse the fact that I'm scared." She told him with a sigh. Edo Natsu laughed, though a bit nervously.
"The great Lucy Ashly? Scared? I guess there's a first time for anything." He said easily. Edo Lucy was going to hit him, but he was only teasing her, so she would let it go. She pushed on his shoulder roughly while he drive, getting him to genuinely laugh. Then, it died down again. The silence was suffocating, there was so much tension between the two. There was something that they wanted to tell each other.
"Hey uh-"
"Can I ask-"
They said simultaneously. They stopped and looked at each other for a moment, before feeling nervous.
"S-Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt!" Edo Natsu said a bit too loudly.
"No no, you didn't, I should of just waited for what you were going to say." Edo Lucy gulped, while rubbing the back of her head. Silence took over the space again, this time incredibly awkward. Edo Natsu cleared his throat before continuing.
"I uh, just wanted to ask you something..." He coughed.
"Like what?"
"Well, uh, you see- i just thought that if this were to be our last battle together, you know, say if one of us dies or something...which will probably be me if were being honest here," He rambled, making Lucy let out a huff of annoyance.
"Get on to it, Natsu."
Edo Natsu jumped at her voice and nodded rapidly. "Yeah yeah, I just wanted to see if you would do me a favor before this battle starts."
"And what favor would that be?" She whispered as the car slowed to a stop. Edo Natsu took his hand off the wheel and fumbled with the hem of his shirt. Edo Lucy smiled and leaned closer to him, so that their lips were only centimeters apart.
"I...just," Edo Natsu whispered back, voice husky. He leaned in, his eyes staring intently at her lips while he spoke. "Wanted to see if you would give me...at least one ki-" a pounding on his car door alerted the two inside, making them jump back to their own seats. Face blazing, Edo Natsu rolled down the window to see who thought it was a good idea to knock. To his surprise, it was Lisanna. She was grinning mischievously at the two, while holding a weapon of her own.
"Come on love birds, we have a battle to win!" She giggled as she ran off. This time, Edo Natsu and Lucy got out of the car themselves and ran to catch up with everyone else. Reverting back to his other personality, Edo Natsu had just realized what he was about to ask her in his car. Feeling like a complete idiot, he strayed away from Edo Lucy once they caught up with the guild. In front of him, we a huge bunch of royal guards, waiting for the guild to make a move.
And as expected, Fairy Tail charged in head first. It was going great in the first half. They were managing to keep some of the guards down and knocked out. But then, more and more came. Quickly outnumbering the entire guild. Edo Lucy wiped the sweat the coated her forehead as she pulled another guard down using her whip.
"There's too many!" Edo Lucy growled as she punched another in the face. Just as she felt like collapsing, an arm slung around her waist and pulled her up. She turned to see Edo Natsu kicking a guard away with his foot, while holding her up. A smile came to her lips. "Thanks Natsu."
"No problem, Lucy-chan!" Edo Natsu smiled down at her, and just as she was going to say something else, she heard a very familiar voice. Gray? No his voice a bit higher pitched while this one is deeper. Edo Lucy turned to the voice to see a half naked Gray fighting some soldiers with ice. So that was what Earthland Gray looked like.
He looked a bit odd without the piles of clothes thrown on him. "So you're Earthland Gray?" Edo Lucy asked, wiggling out of Edo Natsu's grip and allowing him to fight again. Gray turned to her while he punched down another soldier.
"Yeah but how did you know?" Gray asked quizzically. Edo Lucy resisted the urge to laugh.
"I can just tell," she chuckled. "Anyway do you have more on the way, we could use some serious help."
"About that," Gray chuckled. "Well, I mean, when the lacrima that held our friends disappeared, it turned out that a friend of ours, Mystogan, sent it back to Earthland. So all our friends are okay and probably don't remember being turned into lacrima in the first place. So it's just me and maybe Loke if he would get his ass down here." Gray grumbled. Edo Lucy's jaw dropped. They were screwed. So one, maybe two people were going to help them? Bullshit!
"What about Earthland me and Natsu, and Erza and Wendy?" Edo Lucy screamed, kicking a solider away.
"Well, Lucy, Natsu, and Wendy are going to go up against the king with a friend because they're dragon slayers. And I guess their logic was have dragon slayers slay the metal dragon the king is inside of. And Erza, well, she's in a huge one on one battle with your Edolas version of Erza. I'm honestly too scared to ask for her help." Gray shivered. Edo Lucy sighed and groaned. Half of her guild was wiped out, and the other half were so exhausted. She didn't know if she were going to make it herself. But, she couldn't give up.
She turned to Gray, only to see him arguing with his counterpart.
"Hey! Take some close off, you look ridiculous!" He yelled as he got in Edo Gray's face. Edo Gray crossed his arms and glared at Gray back.
"Then put some clothes on!" Earthland Gray looked down and found out he wasn't wearing a shirt.
"When did that happen!?" He gasped, searching around for a shirt. Edo Lucy watched in horror at the stupidity of Earthland Gray. They were doomed. And from behind her, at least the exceeds that hung around Natsu, Lucy, and Wendy were fighting. Though they weren't much help when the soldiers just wanted to turn them into lacrima. Edo Lucy did manage a grin when she noticed Edo Wendy helping them out.
Then, things seemed to slow down. Like Edo Lucy was watching everything in slow motion. Waves of light started to seep out of their weapons, and it wasn't only the weapons. It was everywhere over their entire land. She could only assume the light was magic and it was disappearing. Fast. Her arms went limp as most of it left hers and everyone else's weapons. Luckily though, the royal guards were so freaked out, that they just dropped their now useless weapons and ran away.
"This can't be happening..." Edo Lucy squeaked out. Earthland Gray turned to her and frowned.
"Hey hey! It'll be okay!" He gestured to her, and to most of the guild members who were currently panicking.
"You don't understand, all the magic is Edolas is being sucked away. Our life as a guild is meaningless now!" Edo Lucy screamed at him. Edo Lucy shook violently, what was she supposed to do now!? She was considered one of the strongest of her guild, and now look at her. Her whip, her magic was everything to her. How could it have been taken just like that!?
Then, someone grabbed her by the shoulder and spun her around. Pushing her into their chest. From the design of his shirt, it was obviously Edo Natsu. "Lucy...it'll be okay. We can survive without magic. See, were alive right now aren't we? Were going to be okay." Edo Natsu whispered to her softly.
"B-But...you're car...without magic and lacrima fuel..." She trailed off. She knew how much he really loved that car. Almost as much as he loved the guild.
"Yeah...but at the end of the day it's just a car. Besides, if I got my friends with me, I'll be able to go anywhere," Edo Natsu smiled down at her and ruffled the back of her hair slightly. "By the way, I didn't get to tell you but I like your haircut. It's cute." Edo Natsu laughed shyly as Lucy broke out into a giggle. She couldn't be sad when he was trying so hard to make her feel better.
"Jeez, what's with you and flirting today? Are you trying to punched?" Edo Lucy said, but it held no malice. If anything, she sounded overjoyed. Her cheeks were painted pink with a blush while she tried smiling confidently. Although it turned more shy than anything.
"Nah, I'm trying to get kissed by the girl I fell in love with." Edo Natsu muttered lowly. Edo Lucy shook her head with a loveable smile adoring her face. He got a bit more confident with this battle, but he was still the shy Natsu she fell in love with.
"You could of just asked." She teased. Edo Natsu's mouth hung open as he pointed to his car a few yards away.
"But- in the car, I-" Edo Natsu was quickly cut off by Edo Lucy's lips. He was shocked at first, but was able to lean into it and follow her rhythm. Though before it got too out of hand, Edo Lucy broke off the kiss and gave him ome huge smirk. Edo Natsu sat there for a moment in shock, but once he registered what happened, his whole face became an fiery red. He malfunctioned while she stood in his arms and cackled.
"You're such a dork!"
The happiness that surrounded the two was then cut off when someone of their own guild began to levitate off the ground, along with Gray. It was Lisanna! Edo Natsu and Lucy ran up next to Edo Mira and Elfman as they watched their sister slowly float up into the sky.
"Wait! No! I-I'm sorry, I should of told you-" Lisanna cried as she tried to grab onto Edo Elfman and Mira. They held each other and smiled sadly up at their sister who was getting farther and farther.
"It's okay Lis," Edo Mirajane started. "We knew from the beginning. You acted like her and you sounded like her...but our little sister was long gone before you arrived. We just wanted to hold onto some hope. But it's time now, that you be with you're real brother and sister. We love you Lisanna!" Tears were shed by everyone as they watched their beloved guild member disappear along with Earthland Gray and the three exceeds. Edo Natsu and Lucy stayed quiet as everyone began to slowly walk back to their guildhall, mind heavy with thought. The battle was over after all.
Edo Natsu sighed as he and Edo Lucy began to push his car along next to everyone else. "Do you really think everyone will be okay?" He whispered to her, quiet enough so that no one else could hear.
"Yeah...yeah they will. We're Fairy Tail after all."
Maybe a life without magic won't be so bad after all.
