Once Coco landed Natsu and Lucy on the ground before the king, she quickly sped off with her legion as to not get in the way. Lucy waved the small girl goodbye, before turning back to the giant metal dragon standing in front of them. Then suddenly, Gajeel and Wendy landed next to Lucy, watching the metal dragon intently. Lucy twisted her head to meet their eyes. They nodded at her.
"It's about time you two got here." Natsu scoffed, crossing his arms. Lucy sighed and rubbed her temples as Gajeel retorted back with some smartass comment. Creating a whole other debacle with both Gajeel and Natsu. She smacked the back of Natsu's head and glared at him.
"Would you two stop? We have a serious fight on our hands," Lucy growled. "You do realize how difficult this will be, right?" She stuck her hand on her hip and glared towards the dragon. If you could even call it that. It hardly looked liked a dragon, more like a dinosaur or something.
"If it were easy that would take all the fun out of it." Natsu laughed, nudging her with his elbow. She shook her head with a smile. He was right. If it were easy, it wouldn't be as fun. She turned to Gajeel, only to see he was soley focused on the monster in front of him.
"So this thing is some kind of metal dragon." Gajeel balled his fist until his knuckles turned white. He didn't like the idea of that man...calling whatever the hell was in front of him, a metal dragon. Now his father, he was what you could call a metal dragon. He smirked slightly, thinking about his father. Suddenly, seeing something from the corner of his eye, he turned to see Wendy. She was shaking. He pat her head. "Don't worry kid, it'll be alright..."
Wendy looked up to see Gajeel giving her a encouraging smile. She nodded and turned back to the enemy in front of them. She was confused as to why the dragon hadn't moved yet. Although, maybe the king was waiting for them to start.
"Are you ready?" Lucy whispered, knowing they would hear her. Everyone nodded, waiting for the first person to start. It happened to be Wendy. She jumped back from the other dragon slayers and lit up her hands in her magic. Using this as their cue, Lucy, Natsu, and Gajeel began to run towards the dragon.
"I'm not very strong but I can enhance your powers. Here!" Wendy yelled, sending bolts of magic towards each slayer. Lucy lit up in pink light, while Natsu in red, and Gajeel in green.
"Woah, I feel so light! This is awesome!" Natsu laughed, using his enhanced speed to catch up with the metal dragon much quicker. He jumped up on the tail, running up its spine, stopping at the back of its neck. Natsu punched it as hard as he could, managing a small dent. He frowned a bit, but jumped back to the ground before the king could throw him off. Standing next to Lucy, he realized her next move and stood back slightly.
"Celestial dragon roar!" She chanted, a powerful magic leaving her mouth and pushing against the dragon's chest. Inside the metal dragon, the king yelled as his dragon was being pushed back by her power. Once her attack was over, Lucy frowned as she searched for any damages. "He's barely affected! I just pushed him back. Damn..." Lucy growled. But she shook away the bad thoughts and ran around the dragon, following Gajeel.
"Blondie! Get on the other side before he manages to jump away!" Gajeel shouted towards her while he grabbed the leg of the dragon. He used his iron club to dig under the dirt and wrap around the metal dragon so he couldn't get away. Gajeel wrapped his arms around the foot of the dragon and held him down as hard as he could. He glared at Lucy when she just stood to watch him.
She squeaked and nodded. "Right! Sorry!" She stared down at the dragon's other foot hopelessly. How was she supposed to keep it down? Then, an idea came to her mind and she grabbed her Taurus key. "Open, gate of the golden bull! Taurus!" A puff of smoke appeared in front of her, along with the giant celestial spirit she called.
"Howdy Miss Luucy!" The bull smiled pervertedly. Lucy rolled her eyes and pointed down at the foot of the metal dragon.
"Can you help me hold this down!?" She hollered, doing her best to hold down the foot that threatened to lift up. Taurus thankfully understood and used his axe to station himself as he used his own foot to keep the bigger foot down. Lucy let out a sigh of relief as the metal foot stayed down. She nodded towards Gajeel.
"Alright! Salamander it's your turn! Don't make me regret helping you!" Gajeel screamed, sweat pouring down his face, while his hair fell between his eyes. Lucy wasn't much better. This was much harder than it looked. Thankfully, Natsu understood and hurried his attack. Wendy enchanted his body to make him weightless so he could float right in front of the dragon's head.
"Crimson lotus: exploding flame blade!" Gajeel and Lucy tightened their grip as the attack hit the dragon dead on. Lucy grinned, that had to do him in. Natsu's attack was so hot that she could feel the burn of the metal on the dragon from the feet.
"I need more!" The king had laughed maniacally. Lucy's smile dropped as she felt what little magic left in the air, suck up into the dragon. The magic he drew in transformed the metal dragon all together, even changing its silver color to black. Lucy let Taurus disappear as she stepped away from the dragon. Gajeel followed after her.
The dragon's scratches and dents disappeared. He was fully restored. Lucy gaped as her arms laid limp next to her. By this time, Wendy ran up the everyone else to inspect what happened. Her mouth hung open as she noticed the redesigned dragon. He looked ten times more powerful than he was originally.
"You dragon slayers are no match for me! And once I get your powers, no one will be able to stop me! With this power, I'll be able to even take over Earthland!" The king cackled, controlling the dragon so that it whipped its tail around, sending a powerful wind on the dragon slayers. They flew back with a grunt or scream, landing harshly on the ground few feet away.
"It's hopeless..." Lucy mumbled, lifting her head to stare sadly at the dragon in front of her. Fortunately, Wendy was almost unharmed, so she busied herself with trying to heal everyone.
"Yeah..." Gajeel agreed. He lowered Wendy's hands as they hovered over his chest. He didn't went her to waste her energy on him. Lucy and Gajeel laid motionless on the ground. They had given up. Natsu frowned at the two as he lifted his body shakingly.
"We can't give up! So what if he is stronger, if we work together and combine our skills than we can kick his ass!" Natsu encouraged. Though this only pissed off Gajeel.
"This 'we can do it' shit is really getting on my nerves. Give it up Salamander, we can't do it so don't give me that false hope bullshit!" Gajeel snapped.
"Gajeel! He's right. All we have to do it combine our powers!" Lucy gasped. She groaned as she lifted herself up. But she had to keep trying. She had an idea after all that might actually work. "I had read a book on where we can combine the same type of power and create one gigantic unison raid." Lucy explained as she stood up, Wendy rushing to help her.
"Wait a minute," Gajeel mumbled. "I think I remember shrimp talkin about that. But it's so hard to learn. And we don't have years for you to learn it. And even if you could, we're all too weak to even be apart of it!" Gajeel yelled, holding his side in pain. Lucy locked eyes with him and just nodded.
"I learned this spell years ago, so trust me. It'll work. Buy me time. I have to create a magic circle," Lucy picked up a stick and proceeded to draw one. "When I call you guys over, I want all of you to stand in the middle of the magic circle and hold hands. That part is important, so don't forget!" They nodded and charged for the dragon, leaving Lucy to her work. Lucy huffed as she struggled to remember what the magic circle had looked like. Observing the final results, she nodded to herself.
"Okay, I'm ready!" She screamed. Gaining Wendy, Gajeel, and Natsu's attention, they peered at each other for a moment before running back to the blonde. Stepping into the magic circle, they grabbed each other's hand. Lucy hoped the dragon wouldn't come for them while she completed the spell. "Natsu, I'm going to have you be the vessel for our magic. As for the rest of us, it's going to be excruciatingly painful. I just wanted to warn you." Wendy's expression became extremely worried by Lucy's words. She didn't think it was going to hurt!
"Don't worry Wendy, it'll be okay!" Natsu smiled. Wendy let out a shaky breath and gulped nervously. But she would remain strong, for Natsu.
"Give our power to the one who is the strongest, the one who will fight, the one who will lead us to victory!" Lucy chanted, magic circling the four. Wendy and Gajeel screamed out in pain as the rest of their magic power drained from them. Lucy began to speak in a language no one could understand as the magic drained from her as well. She was in pain, but she finished the spell flawlessly. Their magic swirled around above them, before seeping into Natsu's body. Natsu felt like a whole new person. He glowed a yellow hue as the magic power worked its way inside his body.
Lucy, Gajeel, and Wend stood there for a moment. Then, they collapsed to the ground, unconscious. Natsu walked around them and right in front of the king. The dragon slayer wasted no time running up the dragon, ripping off its metal and taking a huge bite out if it. Meanwhile, the king gasped angrily and tried throwing Natsu off of his creation.
"What are you doing boy!? Eating my dragon! How dare you!" Natsu ignored the king's words and sucked up the air to restore his body. Wendy and Lucy were lucky they could just suck in the air and heal themselves. He sucked in a breath again, but it wasn't to heal himself. Puffing up his cheeks, he blew a swirl of everyone's magic at the dragon.
"Elemental dragon roar!" The attack was so powerful it had sent the dragon back a few yards and it blew a giant hole in the center of its chest. The king watched in horror as he slowly fell to the ground. Natsu stumbled towards the fallen dragon, grabbing the king a few feet away from its metal body. He glared so hard at the king, that he promptly passed out from fear. Natsu dropped his body and stumbled backwards.
Natsu finally collapsed, a huge smile adorning his face. He closed his eyes, embracing the wind that blew across his face. He didn't miss the grunt from a few feet away though. "You owe us one..." Gajeel groaned out.
"You're awake." Natsu hummed.
"Yeah, but I wish I wasn't. Damn, my head is killing me," Gajeel chuckled. He nudged Wendy beside him, who was still unconscious. "Hey kid, wake up." The smaller girl stirred, before opening up an eye. She whined in pain as she sat up. Sucking in as much air as she could, she was beginning to feel a bit better.
"Ouchie. I never want to go through that again!" Wendy squeaked, rubbing her sore head. Gajeel nodded along with her. "So what now?" She asked, looking towards both Gajeel and Natsu. Natsu shrugged, but Gajeel went to stand and pick up Lucy who was still unconscious.
"Wait, is she okay?" Natsu questioned. If he could stand, he would see himself if she was okay but he could barely move.
"Bookworm told me that the caster of that spell will feel agonizing pain and the body will physically beat itself up for three days until the spell wears off." Gajeel explained. Natsu frowned, way to not sugar coat it. Wait a minute, did Gajeel know that this would happen!?
"If you knew that why didn't you stop her!?" Natsu rasped out.
"She wasn't going to let me stop her, you know how persistent blondie can be. Besides, she did this to save us so I don't think I had any right to stop her." Natsu knew he was right but it still angered him. He crossed his arms over his chest, thinking deeply about what he could do. But then, a glow surrounded them, lifting them up in the sky. Everyone was getting sucked back to Earthland. All the magic was being drained from Edolas, so that included everything who had magic stored inside their body. Natsu sighed and turned towards Lucy who was still being held in Gajeel's arms.
Her pained expression filling his heart with sorrow.
