Fire Up!

Deep in the forest outskirts of the city of Berk, the blond haired twins, Ruffnut and Tuffnut, find themselves stood in the middle of a section of trees with the later holding up his video camera saying, "Ok, and…action!"

Ruffnut holds up a microphone and says, "Good Afternoon, Berk High, I'm Ruffnut Thorsten."

Tuffnut turns the camera around to face his face and says, "And on the camera, I'm Tuffnut Thorsten."

Ruffnut grabs the camera and turns it back to her. "Yeah, no one cares. Anyway, I am here to bring you a new segment that I'd like to call, 'Exotic Plant Life!'" She crouches down in front of a bunch of pink and white striped flowers. "Here we see some amazing…line!"

Tuffnut reads off of a notecard he brought. "Carnations."

Ruffnut nods. "Carnitas, out in their natural habitat. Now, what's interesting about these flowers is…" Her arms drop to her side. "CUT!" Tuffnut stops filming as Ruffnut rubs her eyes. "If there is a prize for lamest news segment ever, this would win by a landslide. This is the last time I listen to you for segment ideas."

Tuffnut replies, "Hey, it's not my fault there's nothing to report!"

Ruffnut then lets out a deep breath. "Ok, let's regroup and think of something quick."

Tuffnut then suggests, "Well, we could start reporting on those giant monsters that have been invading the city from time to time."

Ruffnut shakes her head. "Nah, literally every other reporter in Berk has been doing that, we need something to make us stand out. Weren't we going to follow around Astrid, Snotlout and Fishlegs for something?"

Tuffnut shrugs. "We were, but our news director told us not to because following students around outside of school is 'against school policy' and we could get 'expelled'." He did make finger quotes to those terms.

"Right." Ruffnut replies.

Tuffnut then hears a beep on his camera and looks into the lens before saying, "Well, it's probably for the better that we have nothing, camera battery's running low."

Ruffnut raises a brow to that. "I thought you said you charged that thing at home."

Tuffnut replies, "I said I might go ahead and charge it."

Ruffnut throws up her hands. "Well, that's just great. Something to report could pop up at any moment, and we have nothing to record it with thanks to this piece of junk!" She takes the camera and kicks it in a random direction.

Tuffnut complains, "Hey! I saved up my allowance for 3 months to afford that camera!" He runs off in the direction it was kicked.

"Oh sure, just run off! Something you're actually good at!" Ruffnut yells as Tuffnut runs off.

Unfortunately, the camera's battery did hit a tree nearby and ended up sliding down, the bark scratching the battery and sending sparks that lit up the grass near it, bringing up flames that soon got bigger and bigger.

An hour later, Back at the Dragerium, Astrid was walking up the stone steps holding something wrapped in black and red striped wrapping paper. Noticing the gift, Fishlegs, who was tending to the various plants he planted since joining the Dragerium, asks, "What's that, Astrid?"

Astrid replies, "Just something for Hiccup as a thank you for being our mentor."

Snotlout scoffs to that. "Pfft. Just collect some shiny rocks and call it a day."

Heather replies, "Ignore him, Astrid."

"I already do." Astrid replies as she walks closer to Hiccup's bedroom. However, that's when the Emergency Alarm begins to sound, making all 6 Power Rangers gather around Alicia as Astrid hides her present and asks, "What is it? Shedders?"

Alicia replies, "I wish it was, it looks like a forest fire has broken out in Berk's outskirts. It's a good distance from Berk and doesn't seem to be spreading in that direction, but that could easily change."

Hiccup asks, "Is there anyone trapped in there?"

Alicia replies, "I haven't spotted anyone yet, but with how little rain we've gotten a fire like that can only be started by a spark, and that likely means someone or something is responsible."

Astrid replies, "Whoever or whatever is behind it, we have to take action."

They begin to walk away as Snotlout asks, "Wait, we're seriously going in there? I thought our job was to fight bad guys."

Dagur replies, "Our job as Power Rangers is to save and protect people, no matter the danger."

Hiccup nods. "Took the words right out of my mouth, Dagur. We'll get in the Zords and head down there."

Astrid then states, "Uh…Hiccup?" She intended to talk about the gift she wanted to give. Hiccup looks with a raised brow, but Astrid was too nervous to say anything so she replies, "N-nothing, just forget about it."

Hiccup shrugs. "Ok, then. I say it's Morphing time. Ready?"

"Ready!" The others reply.

All together, Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout and Fishlegs throw their arms up while calling, "DRAGO FURY!"

While Dagur and Heather throw their left arm behind them and call, "BERSERK FURY!"

And they put their arms together to slap their Morphers as they call, "FIRE UP!"

From each respective Morpher, flurries of black, blue, red, yellow, violet and silver scales pool out to surround each person to form their Power Ranger suit while the head of their respective dragon pops up to form their helmet. Once that was done, they all call, "DRAGO RANGER POWER!"

They then hop in their respective Drago Zord and fly off to the scene of the fire.

Once they get outside the ring of the flames, they could see just how bad it really was. Smoke was pooling into the sky, the whole area for miles was covered in red and yellow flames that engulfed the trees, grass and plant life, and it was like staring into the depths of hell.

Seeing how wide the flames were, Astrid, within her blue Nadder Zord, comments, "Oh man, that's wide."

Hiccup, within the black Night Fury Zord, adds, "This is worse than I thought. Ok, keep a lookout for anyone who might be trapped in the flames. Also, keep your vents shut, I can't afford to have any of you pass out from the smoke."

Sitting in his red Nightmare Zord, Snotlout whines, "Aw, but I like flying with air conditioning!"

Hiccup replies, "Snotlout, it's you being cool or your life, what are you going to pick."

Snotlout rolls his eyes. "Fiiiiine. Vents are shut."

Hiccup then adds, "While we're at it, let's do what we can to keep the flames from spreading too far. Fishlegs, I want you to start digging a trench about 4 feet deep around the perimeter of the flames, that should keep them at bay."

Fishlegs, in his yellow Gronk Zord, replies, "I can do you one better." He pulls up a grey, spiked scale before calling, "Power Scale, activate! Quaken Zord!" He clips the scale into a slot on his yellow Morpher, which causes a grey, spiked Zord with a dual lower jaw to fly in as Fishlegs states, "I hope you like getting dirty!" Moments later, both the Gronk and Quaken Zords begin digging into the earth, the first with claws and the other by curling into a ball and rolling through like driving in the sand.

Hiccup comments to Fishlegs, "Smart move, Fishlegs, bringing in the Quaken Zord. Alright, while they're doing that, let's split up and try to deal with the flames, but also keep your eyes and ears open for anyone that might be trapped."

"Got it!" The others reply as they fly off in different directions.

Dagur and Heather, in their respective violet Stryke Zord and silver Razor Zord, soon find themselves on one of the edges of the flames before Dagur calls, "Let's try this." On his control panel, he reaches to a triangle that was red, blue and yellow at the tips. He turns the dial to where the blue tip is facing forward before calling, "Ice Breath!" A cloud of very-cold air soon pools out of the Stryke Zord's mouth, covering the nearby area and dousing the flames.

Impressed, Heather asks, "Whoa, when did Hiccup teach you how to do that?"

Dagur replies, "He didn't.

Heather adds, "Well, however you're doing it, it's working. Keep it up!" Dagur nods and has the Stryke Zord deal with whatever flames they can find.

Meanwhile, now caught in the flames, Ruffnut calls out to see if her twin brother is around. "TUFFNUT!" Worried for his life, she keeps going, but not until the flames burn a tree to the point where it falls over towards Ruffnut. In a split second, Ruffnut looks up to see the tree falling, and attempts to leap out of the way, but the tree catches her legs and traps her in a more narrow part of the forest.

Ruffnut tries to push herself out, but the fallen tree was so heavy that it wouldn't budge. She tries to call again, "TUFFNUT? TUFFNUT?! HELLO? ANYBODY?" but to no response.

Meanwhile, Hiccup and Astrid find themselves over the flames as Astrid states, "Man, this smoke is so thick! I can hardly see a thing!"

Hiccup states, "Don't forget Hiccup lesson #9, you don't always need eyes to see." The Night Fury Zord flies up a bit before Hiccup calls, "CALL!" The black Zord's mouth opens up before a wave of sound gets emitted from its mouth. It kept going out for about 50 feet until the Night Fury Zord hears something get reflected. Hiccup nods to it, "Sounds like we have something."

The Night Fury and Nadder Zords fly in the direction of where the sound came from until, having cleared through a cloud of smoke, the two of them spot Tuffnut calling out with his hands over his mouth. "RUFFNUT? RUFFNUT, WHERE ARE YOU? Oh, if I just remembered to charge my video camera, we wouldn't be in this mess."

Suddenly, a flash of light beams down onto Tuffnut, making him look up to see the black and blue Zords getting closer. Realizing what this is, Tuffnut waves his arms in the air as a call for help as Astrid comments, "Hey, that's Tuffnut Thorsten."

Hiccup asks, "You know him?"

Astrid nods. "Yeah, he and his twin sister go to school with us."

Hiccup squints and replies, "You mean, that's not the sister?"

Astrid drops a rope ladder down from the Nadder Zord, which Tuffnut grabs onto and climbs up to the cockpit that is the Zord's head. Once in there, Tuffnut sees Astrid in her blue Ranger suit and states, "Hold on…I know you! You're one of the Power Rangers that have been saving Berk, aren't you?"

Astrid replies, "Yeah, yeah, you can thank me later. Are you alright?"

Tuffnut replies, "I'm ok, but my sister, Ruffnut, is still in there!"

Astrid thinks to herself, "The twins can exist without each other?" before saying out loud, "Ok, we'll find her." She gets on her communication channel and says, "Hiccup?"

Hiccup replies, "I heard everything, and let's not forget our Ranger Code, no innocent lives left behind." He then tells the rest, "Fishlegs, keep doing what you're doing with digging that trench."

"Don't have to tell me twice!" Fishlegs replies as he, the Gronk Zord and the Quaken Zord get to the halfway point around the flames.

Hiccup then adds, "Everyone else, this just became a search and rescue mission! Don't do anything else until we find Tuffnut's sister!"

"Heard that!" Dagur replies.

"Loud and clear!" Heather adds.

"Fine, but I better get paid extra for this." Snotlout adds.

Hiccup says to himself, "We don't get paid to do this at all." Then says to call, "Just be on the lookout."

Astrid asks Tuffnut, "Do you have any clue where she might be?"

Tuffnut replies, "Well…when the fire started I just started running in a random direction, trying to get out, and I'm pretty sure Ruffnut did the same."

Astrid nods. "We'll search for her, then." The Night Fury and Nadder Zords then fly off as the Night Fury Zord tries its sonar move again to see if it can hear anything.

Meanwhile, the heat and smoke were starting to get to the trapped Ruffnut. The fallen tree she was under wasn't on fire, but being trapped there and the unfortunate direction of the wind led the smoke to be wafted right at her.

Ruffnut began coughing as the smoke and ash begin filling her lungs and the heat was causing her to sweat like a pig, making her lose hydration as well. Ruffnut says in between coughs, "Tuff…*cough*…nut...*cough*…I'm sorry…" she says before blacking out.

Seconds later, the Night Fury Zord finally picks up on her sound as Hiccup states, "Got her!" as they see that Ruffnut was trapped under the fallen tree and had clearly passed out.

"RUFFNUT!" Tuffnut yells out. "You have to save her!"

Astrid replies, "I'll try, but it's too narrow to get anywhere close." She says this as the trees were either on fire or so close together that she couldn't find a safe place to land. She then calls out on her communicator, "Hea…" She then realizes that Tuffnut does know herself and the other Rangers minus Hiccup, so she changes her phrasing to say, "…Uh…Silver Ranger, can you get close to us?"

"Silver Ranger?" Snotlout replies. "You know that her name is-"

Knowing what Astrid was doing, Heather adds, "That's not important! Ok, I can try to get to you guys, but the smoke is starting to jam up my scanners." She ends the call with Astrid and gets to Dagur before asking, "Dagur can you freeze a path for me to get to the others?"

Dagur replies, "Didn't even have to ask." He uses the Stryke Zord's ice attack to clear the way for Heather as they make their way over to Ruffnut.

Once they got there, Heather uses the Razor Zord to slash down trees around Ruffnut and cut the tree that she was trapped under so Hiccup could have the Night Fury Zord move that log out of the way. Astrid then says, "Ok, she can't climb anything so I'll have to go in."

Tuffnut replies, "NO! Let me go instead!"

Astrid shakes her head. "Is this why the word NUT is in your name? It's too dangerous!"

Tuffnut shakes his head. "Look, lady, if it wasn't for me then Ruffnut wouldn't be there in the first place, now I need to save her! Please…"

Seeing the look of determination in Tuffnut's eyes, Astrid nods. "Alright, I'll lower you while you pick her up." Tuffnut then puts on a smoke protective face shield that Astrid gave him and went over to the rope ladder he climbed earlier before Astrid opens a latch underneath and Tuffnut lowers himself as far as he can go.

Tuffnut reaches his arm out to try to grab the unconscious Ruffnut, but he was too far away so he calls up, "Get me in closer!" Astrid nods and brings Tuffnut closer down, close enough to where he could just step down to touch the ground, so he reaches out and grabs Ruffnut's hand before hoisting her up onto her back, and signaling to Astrid to raise him up.

Astrid does just that, retracting the rope ladder while also having the Nadder Zord fly up a bit to get out of the heat, and once the Thorsten twins got into the Zord, Astrid puts the Nadder Zord on autopilot as she kneels in front of Ruffnut to check on her.

She listens into her chest and finds that she is alive, but her legs looked broken and she was not breathing, so Astrid opens up an emergency closet in the Zord and pulls out an oxygen tank fitted with a mask that she gives to Tuffnut saying, "Keep this on her nose and mouth, I'll get the two of you to safety."

Tuffnut nods and fits the mask onto Ruffnut as Astrid pulls away. Astrid says to the other Rangers, "Victims are secure, I'm gonna go get them out of here!"

Fishlegs then calls, "The Quaken Zord and I are all done here!"

Hiccup nods. "Great work, gang! I think now that the trench is built, we can just let the flames take their course."

The six rangers begin to fly off in their Zords as Tuffnut held the oxygen mask up to Ruffnut's face saying, "Come on…come on! Breathe! I need you, Ruffnut…I…I don't know what I'd do without you…" Tears drip down from Tuffnut's face onto Ruffnut's, which seemed to do it as Ruffnut reaches up a hand to touch Tuffnut's arm. "Ruffnut?" Tuffnut asks as she sees that his sister had opened her eyes.

Ruffnut smiles and states, "Took you long enough."

Tuffnut smiles wide as she brings Ruffnut in for a deep hug. "Don't ever scare me like that again!"

Ruffnut replies, "Can't really make promises, there."

Touched by the sweet sibling moment, but also knowing she still had a job to do, Astrid states, "We'll get you to the hospital to have your legs looked at."

Ruffnut then comments, "Huh. Your voice sounds familiar, but I can't seem to put my finger on it."

Thinking of a quick excuse, Astrid replies, "If we have time, we'll talk more after we get you looked at." With that, Astrid steers the Nadder Zord to Berk's hospital to get Ruffnut looked at.

Back at the Dragerium, the Rangers and Alicia were watching the news on Fishlegs's tablet as a news reporter was stating, "Well, it seems that this afternoon's fire has been put out, and we can thank our local heroes, the Power Rangers, for that! Now, as for what caused the flames-"

Suddenly, Ruffnut, sitting in a wheelchair with green casts on each leg, pops up and states, "Excuse me, but I believe that I should be running this newscast." She holds out her hand. "Ruffnut Thorsten, Berk High Afternoon News."

The actual reporter raises her brow stating, "You are Ms. Thorsten?"

Tuffnut steps in and adds, "That, she is!"

The reporter then pulls up a metal tray carrying a burnt up video camera stating, "Because, our investigator found this camera near where you two were reported to be found."

Realizing they might be in trouble here, Tuffnut states, "Uh…that could be anyone's camera."

The reporter raises her other brow stating, "Really? Because it says right here, 'IF found, please return to Ruffnut and Tuffnut Thorsten." She points to a label on the side of the camera.

Tuffnut grabs the handles of Ruffnut's wheelchair and begins to pull her back as Ruffnut states, "That's a different Ruffnut and Tuffnut…"

However, before they could see anything else, Fishlegs shuts the tablet off as Snotlout demands, "Hey! I wanted to see those two get what they deserved! Besides, they were talking about us!"

Heather lets out a chuckle to that last statement. "Us? You hardly did anything! You and the Nightmare Zord basically just circled around us the whole time."

Snotlout states, "I was supervising. DOY! Now put it back on!"

Fishlegs then states, "Then come get it! Dagur!" he hands the the tablet over to Dagur, who gives him a knowing raised brow, which makes Snotlout back down like an obedient puppy.

While that was going on, Astrid pulls Hiccup aside and picks up the black and red gift that she brought and states, "I was going to give you this earlier, but then the fire stuff came up, so I figured what better time than now?"

Hiccup raises a brow to that as he grabs the present. "What is it?"

Astrid replies, "Just my way of thanking you for training me and the others. Course, you'll have to open it to see what it is."

Giving a light scoff to that last statement, Hiccup replies, "Alright, but it better be good." He unwraps the paper and his eyes widen as he sees just what it is. In his hands is an 8x10 framed photo of himself and a white haired girl standing side by side, smiling. "But that's…Luna."

Astrid nods. "I know it is."

Hiccup asks, "H-how did you…?"

Astrid shrugs. "Alicia dug it up for me, as long as I promised to say that it's from her as well." She pats him on the shoulder saying, "You're an amazing mentor, Hiccup. Don't ever forget that." She turns around and walks back to the rest of the group.

Hiccup turns around and stares at the photo, a photo of the time before the darkest moment of his life, a time before meeting his current team that he felt truly happy. He didn't want to show it, but he did let a tear drip down his face and onto the frame as many good memories hit him and the sun sets on this fiery day.
