Fujimura Taiga was a woman with a dream- well, a recent dream at that.
Up until a little while ago, roughly months ago actually, the woman had been hoping to find herself a boyfriend to shower with love, affection, care and also tie him for marriage. There's nothing wrong in being a maiden wanting to get wedded and bedded. Then again, she already got bedded and thus was no longer a literal maiden but... the entire ordeal was so pleasant that there was no genuine complain from her part.
In fact, one could even say that the so-called 'female post-nut clarity' had hit her in a rather intense spot of mind where love was something bigger and more intense than anything she could have expected out of such a relationship. So, when it become clear to her that her friend Caren (even though the girl had so desperately tried to not keep that much contact with her, that silly nun-like friend of hers) fancied her boyfriend and was as smitted as she was towards him, the Tiger of Fuyuki (that's not becoming an habit!) started to plot a way to make everyone happy.
To be more precise, Taiga saw the need to keep poor Caren away from the beautiful world of romance something of a hypocritical answer to the circumstance- especially since Taiga had been lining up to get a relationship ever since she was a highschooler. And right now, she was a well-respected (and definitely beloved) teacher. It took her years to land herself in a meaningful relationship and while it's still too early to call for a marriage, she was willing to say John was just a ring away to be her hubby.
So, how to solve this situation without breaking anyone's hearts? Taiga was on it and she decided to tackle the issue head-on like a proper Fujimura would do. Or... that was what her Grandpa told her was the case for most of their relatives, anyway. First, she had to test Caren- sure, she was her friend- no, actually their friend as she did hold a degree of friendship for John as much as she held for Taiga (or that was what Taiga wanted to see it as anyway), but that didn't mean she was ready to be something of a trustworthy intimate friend or even more.
Taiga started with one thought in mind- I am not good with this sort of stuff. So, she found a source of stuff that could fill that lack of knowledge and provide her with insight. She couldn't exactly ask around and she had a feeling that Otoko would get interested to this case and also try to snatch John from her grip. A dreadful possibiliy, yes, which is why Taiga relied on the internet.
It wasn't the first time it happened that she would rely on 'modernity' as Raiga-jiji tended to label as, but where Taiga had her trips and bumps due to naivety while tending the first few times over solutions presented by websites, that was now no longer such a widespread issue. In fact, the moment she started to browse around, the brunette just ruled out a few possibilities.
First and foremost, she excluded a harem on a very simple issue: it wouldn't be a positive way for either Caren or herself. The point of a relationship, romantically at least, was to have a deep connection with someone. What would happen if said relationship lacked that chemistry needed for intimacy?
To make it simple, in a normal monogamous relationship, it would be seen as impossible to keep on going if one or both partners were barely interested. So, by that assumption alone, wouldn't that mean that just relying on the love two or more individuals had for a single person to form that intimacy be... bad? Even in the more convincing harems around in the real world, that sort of stuff had to have a degree of affection and reciprocity between the women too. Not always in a romantic fashion but... what if it was.
Taiga had many times called a lesbian by those trying to understand her inability to get herself a man. Not just for that, but also for her choice to have a more masculine take on her beauty. It wasn't an outright statement of being a tomboy, but women sure had a fixation over the fact she had chosen to keep her hair as short as those were. Ignoring, obviously, that this choice was due to irritation in having to tie that mane up for any kendo competition.
It wasn't easy to keep up with long hair, so Taiga just beat the system by keeping it short. Plus, as John had happily stated many times, he found the haircut to be fitting with her and made her beauty stand up more. If before she had doubts on the practice as the competitions had slowly started to come less due to her job, now she felt confident that would be a thing to keep with for the time being.
That compliment still made her smile and blush at times. (T-That's not true!)
Still, back to Caren, the situation was simple: how do you define someone trustworthy for this sort of things? Dating of course, and it connected with this whole uneasy step to take for Taiga. While it wasn't called as a date, the 'hangout' she went with the white-haired Italian girl sure felt like one and she felt just as nervous as she had been about it with John.
But where Taiga had an easier time keeping hold of her wits, Caren actually showed a few traits the older woman had not seen until this very moment- sure, she picked up some unease when they dressed up earlier, with Caren clearly not-so accustomed with changing with another woman around, but this felt immensely different.
Caren tripped a few times in her chatting, showing weakness and even blurting out some honest compliments out of the blue that truly caught Taiga off-guard. She was flattered, that's not being questioned by her, but the way this all unfolded felt so much... like she behaved back in that date with John. And that's when it hit her- Caren may be more stoic in some situations, but deep down they shared many traits in common when it was time to be truthful and honest about feelings and people.
Sure, Caren was more reluctant to admit the truth and she did hold a bit of disdain towards others as she didn't seem to favor the crowded bar they went to hangout by, but that didn't mean they were that different as people that wanted to be happy in a relationship. And while that may be a sudden judgment to hand out this soon, a kiss on the cheek was enough to give Caren a bit of an understanding of how this date went by.
Only time was going to tell if this was a good decision or not. But, at the moment, Taiga had nothing to complain about. Well, beyond the fact that Caren is just so adorable~ when flustered.
AN
Is this a statement on how their relationship will be? Not really. Only that they are now working on it. And, next chapter, John ends up in a date with Caren. Some stuff may be expected, but I will make sure to surprise everyone with what else I have in mind for the character.
