Chapter 47 is here!
Today is Battleground and I'm excited for my mum to watch me wrestle for the first time. I wake up and head to the gym with Nicole and Brie. After our workout, we make our way back
to the hotel and check out.
We walk outside and the ladies are waiting to get on the buses that are taking us to the arena. "Hi." I greet them.
"How was your week off?" Nattie asks eyeing me closely.
"It was great. I had a really good talk with my mum, I got to meet her fiancé and Eliza, we talked about my dad, it was really good actually."
"So you did a lot of talking, did you do anything else?"
"No." I lie.
"So you just stayed home?" Eva chimes in.
"Not that it's any of your business but I went out with my family, is that a crime?"
"No it's not." Brie answers for her. "Eva you should go."
"What?" She gasps.
"You aren't needed here, go." I say. She glares at me and walks off with JoJo. "Hey JoJo, I'd watch your back, she's just going to step all over you."
"Can you try not to fight please." Nattie pleads.
"I did nothing wrong." I defend. "I had the best week in a long time, and she just had to ruin my mood, and now I'm mad." I growl and storm off.
Nattie POV
"Did you see how tired her eyes looked?" I ask the girls.
"Jon told us the side effects." Brie says nodding.
"Do you think she was doing drugs all week?"
"No it doesn't look like it." Nikki responds. "She actually seemed more like her old self, then Eva had to ruin it."
"Look I know we don't like her, but Serena shouldn't have gotten mad that quick."
"It's the drugs." Brie defends. "It makes her go from happy, to sad, to mad, in a second."
"What do we do?" I ask them all.
"We get the guys and search her bag and we confront her."
"Before the match?"
"It's now or never." Nikki comments.
Serena POV
We arrive at the arena and I'm in my element. My mother is going to see me wrestle for the first time, so I need to have a good match tonight. I arrive at the locker room and set my things down. I notice the girls watching me closely.
I leave the room and make my way to the bathroom and take a look at myself in the mirror and see my pupils are tiny. I can see what I'm doing is slowly hurting me. I take a deep breath and wet my face and pop some drops in my eyes. I add some concealer under my eyes, and smile. Today is going to be a good day.
I get back to the locker room and grab my phone out and I feel the girls watching me suspiciously. My phone starts ringing and I see it's my mum. "Hi." I answer excitedly into the phone.
"We are at security." She alerts.
"I'm coming out right now." I say hanging up.
I turn around and the girls are still watching me. "Who was that?" Nikki asks.
"My mother. I'll be back." I answer and I make my way outside to the security gate and find my mum, Nick and Eliza I walk up to them. "Hi." I greet. "They're with me."
"How are you feeling?" Nick asks as we make our way backstage.
"Nervous as always, but I don't think that ever goes away." I respond.
"This one hasn't been able to stop jumping around." Mum mentions. "She's so excited to see you and be here."
I crouch down. "Is that true?" I ask her with a grin. She nods enthusiastically. "Do you want to see if we can find some of the wrestlers?"
She jumps up and down. "Yes!"
"Then let's go."
We continue to walk around backstage and Eliza's eyes light up. "So this is backstage." I say showing them the production trucks, tour buses, and workers hurrying around.
"It's massive." Mum comments.
"It is. We have lot's to do before every show, it doesn't instantly come to life." I explain. "This is catering, where we get food and water, and hangout with everyone before shows." I add. "Down these halls are locker rooms for the superstars." I say as we stop outside the divas locker room. "And here is the divas locker room." I alert. "Now it's girls only, so Nick you're going to have to wait outside."
"No problem, take your time." He responds.
I open the door and Mum, Eliza and I walk inside to find the girls getting ready. "Ladies." I say getting them to turn around. "I would like to introduce you to my mother Karen and my little sister Eliza."
Nattie, Brie and Nikki walk over. "Nice to finally meet you." Nattie greets.
Eliza is starstruck. "Eliza can you say hi to Natalya and The Bella Twins?" I ask her.
She grins and hugs them excitedly. "You're very beautiful. How old are you?" Brie asks.
"8." She answers confidently.
I leave with mum and Eliza and show them the rest of the arena. "Here is gorilla position, which is where we wait before we head out through the curtain and down the ramp." I explain. We walk through gorilla and out onto the ramp and Eliza's eyes go wide. "And this is the arena."
We walk down the ramp and they take it all in. "Are all these seats going to be full?" Nick asks.
"Yes, it's a sold out show, 15,000 plus." I confirm. "And right here, is where you will be sitting."
Eliza's attention turns to the ring where Jon, Joe and Colby are practising. My heart races and I turn away and glance at my mum who is watching me closely. I smile shyly as Eliza squeals. "Mum, dad it's The Shield."
The guys hear this and stop what they are doing and turn towards us. I shake off the sadness and I look at Eliza, who is ecstatic. I crouch down in front of her. "Do you want to meet them?" I ask. She nods excitedly. I take a deep breath and stand. "Do you mind if I introduce her?"
"Go ahead." Nick replies.
I take her hand in mine and we walk over to the ring. "Hi." I greet casually.
"Who's this pretty lady?" Joe asks breaking the silence.
"It's Roman." Eliza squeals.
"Roman meet Eliza." I introduce.
"Nice to meet you." Joe greets.
I lift her up and she runs into the ring and hugs him. "What do you think Nick, do you think she could be a diva one day?"
He frowns and I laugh. "Yes." Eliza squeals.
I chuckle loudly. "Calm down munchkin."
Jon walks over. "Hello."
"It's Dean the crazy one." She exclaims.
I laugh as do the guys. "I'm going to let that one slide because your cute." he says softly as he kneels down. "I guess you're a fan little lady?"
Colby then joins us and Eliza releases her hold from Jon hold and she attacks Colby with a hug. "Seth." She squeals.
Colby chuckles as he looks down at her. "Am I your favourite?"
"Yes."
Colby glances at me but I don't make eye contact with him. "She's a big fan." I mention.
"I like your blonde streak." Eliza compliments.
"You do, do you?"
She nods excitedly. "Can we do the pose?"
I stand up. "They're practicing Liza."
"Please." She pleads.
"It's no problem." Colby assures me. I turn to face him for the first time and he takes in my appearance and his eyes go wide.
"Sure." I say softly. "Be quick though Liza, I have to get ready."
After showing around my family I get them seated and I start to get ready. I'm happy they're here, I feel good and I am raring to go. Nothing is going to stop me today. I head to hair and make-up and find Brie. "Hi." I greet.
"How are you feeling?" She asks.
"Pumped but I'm nervous like always."
"I don't think that ever goes away."
"Nerves are good, but I'm so excited to wrestle in front of my mum."
"You two seem to be on good terms."
"We are, we had a long talk and I feel good, I'm glad I have her in my life again and I'm excited I'll be able to go to her wedding in November."
"Where is it?"
"Hawaii."
"Thats great, and you like Nick and Eliza?"
"Nick's a little quiet but he's great for my mum."
"I'm glad, you look happy maybe even to happy." She mentions.
My heart quickens. "Is being to happy a bad thing?"
"Only if it causes further damage."
"I don't get where this is coming from."
"Is everything okay with you?" She asks. "It's just after your breakdown, you were so emotional and then the other week you were so angry and now here you're happy, should I be worried?"
"I'm fine." I reassure. "I'm just moving on with my life. As I said before, I have to concentrate on my career, I'm done being used and stood all over."
"You sure you aren't doing anything stupid?"
I gulp. "Positive."
Once I'm ready I take a good look at myself. My hair is in loose curls with some of my hair pinned in the back. My make up is bold and I have added some silver gems to my eyelids.
My gear tonight is a dark blue body suit with cut outs running from my ribs, over my stomach and down my legs. There are gemstones scattered around the suit to add a little bit of sparkle.
I get a text from Brie to meet up with her. I make it to the locker room and see Nattie, Brie, Nicole, Celeste, April, Eva and JoJo in front of me. I step further into the room not noticing the three guys behind me. "We need to talk." Nicole addresses firmly.
I look around still not noticing the guys. "About what?"
"This." April answers showing me the small packet of white powder.
I try to keep a straight face but my heartbeat picks up. "I don't know what that is." I lie.
"Don't lie to us, we found this in your bag." Nattie scolds.
"That isn't mine."
"Then what was it doing in your bag?" Nicole questions.
"Maybe someone put it there." I lie and go to step away but the door slams.
I turn around and see Joe, Jon and Colby. "You aren't leaving until we get through to you." Colby addresses me.
I scoff and turn back to face everyone. "What is this an intervention?"
"This is a group of your closest friends trying to make you see sense." Nicole shouts.
"Oh for god sake I'm not doing anything." I lie.
"Just stop it, stop lying." Colby shouts.
I turn back to face him. "I thought that's what I was."
"Serena stop it." Brie orders.
I turn back to Brie rolling my eyes. "So what is this exactly?"
"They are here to make you see sense, and to get you to stop what you're doing, if they can't they will go to Stephanie and Vince." Eva responds.
I rub my hands through my hair and my heart rate spikes. "You are going down a dangerous path and at this rate what you're doing is going to kill yourself." Nicole continues.
"Oh don't be so dramatic, its not that bad." I argue.
"Can you not hear yourself?" Jon asks.
"It's not going to kill me."
"At the rate you're going, you're going down a dangerous path." Brie repeats. "Since two weeks ago, every time we see you, you are either too happy, too angry or overly nice."
"You need to get help." Nicole urges.
"What send me to a hospital where they lock me up, I'm not crazy."
"You're acting crazy and these people right here are trying to help you." Eva chimes in. "I could care less about you, but for some reason they care for you and they don't want you to kill yourself."
"Who invited you here?" I ask rudely.
"They did."
I look around the room. "I thought you didn't like her."
"We invited her hear because she has been in a similar position to you." Nattie responds.
I scoff. "What, you think she can help? You heard her, she could care less."
"Oh stop trying to make me sound like I'm in the one in the wrong." Eva scolds.
"You know what I don't need this. I'm perfectly fine, I don't need any of you." I declare and go to turn around but the guys stand in my way.
"You aren't leaving." Colby says stopping me.
"Why do you care?" I retort.
He takes a breath and looks up at me but doesn't respond. "We need you to stop." Jon urges.
"Or what?"
"Or we will tell Stephanie and she can suspend you because at the rate you're going you've been breaking wellness policies left right and centre, they can easily fire you."
"Is that what you all want?" I retort. "Fine, tell them I don't fucking care, I have nothing else left." I shout and go to storm off but they stop me from moving. "Tell them, I can't take it anymore and it sounds like you can't either, so do us all a favour and just do it, with me gone it'll make your lives so much easier, you won't have to watch over a useless waste of space."
They look at me in shock. "Is that what you think of yourself?" Colby whispers stepping forward.
I look up to face him. "Yes. Yes I do, because when the person who I thought had my back over everyone turns there back on me, it makes me feel useless." I shout. "I've never had any one to look out for me. I had to do everything on my own. I had many nights of waking up to my own mother stumbling around drunk where I would have to take her to the hospital." I say a little louder. "I had many nights where I didn't want wake up in the morning and continue living on the street." I continue. "I didn't want to go back to that fateful night where Adam raped me." I confess and everyone gasps. "Do you guys think it's been easy for me to come to work with a smile on my face and lie about how I feel?" I ask them. "Because ever since that man came back in my life, those same fears and nightmares came flooding back, and to make it worse I had to live in the public of the fans." I exclaim. "I wouldn't wish my life on my worst enemy and yet I still can't do anything right. The only way that I know how deal with things is to not feel." I express and take a step back gasping for breath.
Colby steps towards me and I see tears in his eyes. He grabs my arms to get me to stop shaking and look at him. I try to fight out of his hold but he holds firmly. "You are not useless. You are not malicious, you aren't crazy, you aren't a bitch, but the way that you treat yourself and the steps you take to push people away, you're going to get seriously hurt." He argues. "And if that happens, we will all lose someone we care about." He expresses. "We don't want you to kill yourself, we don't want you to feel like you are alone. You need to realise that what you are doing is wrong and you need to get help."
I turn around and face everyone. "What do I do?"
"You start by throwing this away." he says throwing the bag away.
"Then what?"
"Then we're going to get you the help you need." Brie replies.
"Why would you do this for me? I've been nothing but be a bitch to you all?"
"Don't you get it? We love you." Nattie responds.
"I don't deserve you guys." I express. "What do I do now?"
"We get you cleaned up, and we get you ready for your match, and as soon as that three count hits you go and get help." Colby answers.
"Do you really think I can?"
"We know you can."
"Are you going to be okay for our match?" Brie asks.
I nod. "Yes."
"Now be honest, did you have anything today?" Jon asks.
I shake my head. "No, I was in a good place."
"Good. When did you do your last line?"
"Friday."
"Alright now lets shake off those tears and get ready for our match." Brie encourages.
I wipe my eyes. "Okay."
After my intervention Brie, Nikki and I make our way to the gorilla. "Are you ready?" Brie asks me.
I nod. "Yes."
"Let's go out there and kick ass."
"Let's do it."
Brie is given the signal to head out. "Let's kill it out there." she expresses and walks out to a huge reaction from the crowd. I get given the signal and I hear my music start up and I walk out.
